Very unfriendly Poor quality Hygiene leaves nothing to be desired

We came here for lunch; we had to wait 10 minutes to be served to order pizza. The lady looked at us three times while she was cleaning the oven but didn't come to help us; we had to walk over to her ourselves to ask if we could be served. Then she made our pizza using the same gloves she had used to clean the oven, etc., truly disgusting. The other lady who made our noodles was also super unfriendly. The food looked very unappetizing with lots of flies; the flies were even in the food. Very unfortunate, because we always enjoyed going to La Place.

The food looks appealing. The restrooms could be cleaner. Unfortunately, the 50-cent discount coupon wasn't applied, even though I showed it. The coffee wasn't to my liking; it was too bitter.

Noodles were just zero taste! They should not call it teryiaki chicken cus both of these were not much in there. Took time for somebody to come to the counter. Bad service bad food. We are not used to it at La Place:(

You pay a lot of money and still have to pay for the toilet. My customer card wasn't scanned: ‘Yeah, nothing I can do about it now’ – it was lying right in front of him. The cream cheese sandwich was too peppery. Normally I’m never this negative, but it just wasn’t the experience you would want to have at La Place.

What terrible service! Uninterested staff. Customer friendliness is nowhere to be found. The food is expensive and of poor quality. Tomato soup with a very sweet, sugary taste. €1.00 for using the toilet! In short, bad!

La Place Muiden De Hackelaar is a lovely spot for us along the A1 to visit again for a nice meal. The restaurant has a very spacious layout. You can always find a nice spot to eat and drink there. We find it cozy there! Our experiences with the staff over the years have always been pleasant. Friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

Tonight, together with my son, we went here for dinner. We had a hamburger with bacon and cheese and fries. The boy behind the grill was very nice and had really done his best! The hamburger was delicious and the fries nice and crispy. The boy behind the counter was also very friendly.

We were here around 9:30 in the morning for a cup of coffee and a treat; everything looked neat. And the staff was also super friendly and welcoming. The toilets were clean!

We arrived here at 5:30 PM to eat. First, the mushroom steak turned out to be a vegetarian burger. So we tried the beef tenderloin, but that was already sold out because they were “about to close.” That will take another two hours, by the way. Next, we wanted to order chicken: sold out too. Worthless. If you can no longer order multiple dishes by 5:30 PM, La Place is simply not suitable for dinner.

Very nice for travelers as a stop for a snack or coffee

Quiet restaurant, wide selection, good parking

We have been here before, but it seems like this La Place is going downhill fast. The tuna focaccia is sparsely topped. We miss the apple and the tomato, like last time. The cashier has plenty of time, despite the crowds. The terrace is open, but that is about all you can say about it. Chairs are askew, parasols are not open, weeds everywhere, and glass in various places. This is no longer a pleasant place to be. It's a shame, but we will drive on next time.

Wok Vega was way too much pasta with a few vegetables, and no meat substitute.... and that for over 11 euros....... rip-off.

I wanted to get the famous focaccia with chicken and bean sprouts. However, the rolls were topped with slices of chicken breast like sandwich fillings, and according to the waitress, there was sandwich spread on them :( There were bean sprouts too, that’s true, but I think €7.50 is quite pricey. Chose a different roll... one has to eat, after all.

Friendly people and good food, just expensive

What a wonderful, welcoming location. Since we were on a day trip to Katwijk with our clients, we stopped here for coffee on the way. We were warmly welcomed and were able to enjoy a cup of coffee in peace with this target group. We even got free access to the toilet. What service!! The clients really enjoyed it!

Unfortunately the food was not like we know La Place, we had pizza, a sandwich and a noodle bowl but they were all bland. Soggy sandwich and pizza. Noodle still in a bunch… mediocre. Watered down orange juice??? This was not a good experience.

Had to wait more than half an hour for a chicken burger.

Very bad food, super dry steak, no salad, noodles were soggy and tasteless, ordered a chicken leg but didn't get it. Dirty tables, unfriendly staff. Lacks atmosphere.

The food is okay, the service seems to work without any interest, lacking drive. The atmosphere is mediocre.

Filthy toilets. The gentleman at the counter doesn't greet you, even though he expects this from you after you've paid. Toilet receipts weren't settled. The tuna sandwich was soggy and had a hair in it. The cream cheese sandwich also had a hair in it. The asparagus soup was just disgusting and contained no asparagus. Truly a hopeless experience. A shame.

Unfortunately, they cannot accommodate dietary requirements here, and it took a very long time for one meal to be ready.

Instead of McDonald's, I went to La Place. The food was fresh and of excellent quality. Finally, a roadside restaurant that offers dishes without too many unhealthy additives like sugar and E-numbers. The value for money is good, especially if you are watching your health. Additionally, it is a nice place to eat, with a pleasant and quiet atmosphere.

Not much positive to say about the food. I chose this restaurant on the way back from a meeting to eat healthily. I grabbed a small salad. The selection was limited, and what I took was very greasy and dressed with a lot of oil. I also chose a wok with chicken thighs. There wasn't much chicken or vegetables in it. There were plenty of noodles and sauce, though. And two small bones as well. On top of that, during the meal, a young man started vacuuming with a Henri vacuum cleaner. And first he started cursing because he couldn't get the cord out. After that, he was busy vacuuming all the tables and just barely avoided staring me away with the full blast of air from this (rickety) vacuum cleaner in my face. This walked in at 6:55 PM and left at 7:30 PM on a Thursday evening. Sorry, this is no longer the La Place of the past. There are better options now.

A very attractively designed restaurant at the rest stop with a nice selection of very appetizing and fresh dishes. Beautifully situated by a pond with waterfowl – perfect for a break.

Sunday afternoon, but a quiet moment. The ladies behind the bread counter were arrogant. After asking for something, they turned away again and offered no alternatives, etc. Focaccia rolls were unavailable. A meager little roll with it, without a price reduction. I would have liked to have been compensated for this. The staff knew little about the advertised children's menu. We had to ask for a surprise (eventually a printed coloring page and a set of crayons) before we left. It wasn't given as standard. Due to the lack of Dutch staff behind the counter, we almost got a hamburger instead of pancakes with the children's menu. Upon arriving home, we checked the situation again, and ultimately, we didn't receive or were offered a glass of vegetables either. A tip: go to work with a smile and treat the customer like royalty. Who knows, the atmosphere might improve. Know what you are selling. We won't be coming back here anytime soon. We much prefer going to another La Place.

I thought it was very expensive for very little food You have to serve yourself the salad I had a piece of beef tenderloin, I think it came from the grill, it was that small And rucola is cheaper than fries because half my plate was covered with it

It's a shame that there is less and less for gluten-free people.

We wanted something to eat and had to do our best to signal someone to go and fry a burger for us. Not a smile to be seen. No fries came with it (a €12.95 burger...), so we had to pay €4.50 for fries on the side. Had a drink too; €3.75 for a bottle of iced tea. Oh right; there's no sauce with it either, so just like that, even more €€€€ to pay. It was a Saturday around 5:00 PM and there was no one there. That should have been a red flag by now, but we noticed it too late. Overpriced, lacking atmosphere, you're better off going to the McDonald's next door. You get more value for your money there (unfortunately)...

Excellent, plenty of clean toilets. Beautiful restaurant with a wide variety of food. Also suitable if you have gluten-free requirements. You may sit in the restaurant with your dog, but dogs are not allowed in the kitchen/buffet area. Please note: for free use of the toilet as a customer, there are small notes with a QR code at the cash register.

Instead of McDonald's, I went to La Place. The food was poor quality (dry chicken, I had to get my own salad, but there was almost no choice), relatively expensive, and it took ages to prepare the food in a nearly empty restaurant. Not recommended.

There's little choice, especially if you're vegetarian or only eat fish. I expected salmon at the very least. The food looked like it had been sitting around for a while. There's also no atmosphere at all.

Got a great ham sandwich. The place is clean and tidy. You can help yourself to your own sandwiches. It's always a bit pricey for one, but it always tastes good.

Easy to grab a bite to eat. But there's no atmosphere or experience in that place. And 2 drinks and 2 sandwiches for 33 euros is quite expensive.

A wonderful place, delicious dishes, I highly recommend it, here you can take a breath, stop for a moment, and treat yourself.

The restaurant closes at 7:30 PM. We arrived at 7:00 PM. They were vacuuming and cleaning. I was just able to grab some salad and order fries. Everything else had already been cleared away. Eating among people who were cleaning isn't exactly pleasant. Isn't cleaning and tidying supposed to happen after closing time?

It can save the day and you have plenty of choices; the soup was a surprise I never thought I'd find in a restaurant like this. If you travel a lot by road, it's one of your best options.

As always, a great place to relax...

The food was okay, and I want to especially acknowledge the kind man who cooked for us — unfortunately, I didn’t get his name, but he was working at the wok station around 14:00. Salute to you, sir, for your great service! However, I was very disappointed with how a blonde woman working today (25/10/2025 between 14:30–15:00) spoke to us. which we didn't know that filming the foods is not allowed... now We understand and fully respect that filming might not be allowed for privacy reasons, but the way she approached us was very rude and disrespectful. A polite explanation would have been completely fine — we’re people, and we appreciate being treated kindly. We’ve visited this place many times and were planning to leave a great review, but this experience really left us with a bad feeling. The service, unfortunately, was quite disappointing this time.

Location-wise, it's in a beautiful spot, and everything is high quality and beautiful.

Disappointing experience at La Place We paid a ridiculous amount: a slice of apple pie €4.70, two bottles of drinks almost €28, and then two simple cookies. For those prices, you'd expect at least decent service, but even the restrooms were locked. So if you needed to use the bathroom, you had to go to McDonald's and pay another euro. A real shame—way too expensive for what you get.

Incredibly poorly organized, it takes ages. The staff are very friendly, but it takes way too long. We had to wait over half an hour.

La Place remains consistently good. We had a delicious hamburger with bacon and cheese and fries.

Decent stop on A1. Recommend their asian section. Rest of the items are typical of other locations.

The food is delicious but quite pricey. The staff who prepared it were very friendly. The woman behind the counter comes across as grumpy, which she also lets on to the customers. There was a strong urinary odor near the restroom when we were there.

The food is good, but very expensive. The cashier was unfortunately incredibly grumpy. Customer service is nowhere to be found here. Find another job if you don't like it!

Lovely La Place, incredibly friendly staff, and delicious food. It was clean. Absolutely perfect.

It's a nice place to stop just before you arrive in Amsterdam for a cup of coffee or a smoothie. They also have delicious sandwiches and soup.

After an extensive lunch you have to pay 80 cents for the toilet. Next time somewhere else, it wasn't all that nice.

It is not expensive, I am quite hungry. I ate quickly. You can easily get there from the highway. Nice staff, help you well and professionally. The food is fresh and quickly prepared. You can also have a meeting there. There are many delicious dishes and it is quiet inside. Hygienic and the knowledge about the food is good!

Do you want to eat the best pizza? Then you are at the right place at La Place! The best pizza made by the one and only Issa. Can't go wrong :)

Was going to eat a sandwich first but then I got into a conversation with Issa. He asked if I had ever eaten there to which I replied no. Then he made sure that I changed my sandwich choice to this great pizza that he baked. Was super tasty and thanks for the service.

I had agreed for a change. It was nice and quiet, enough space. Great!

Worthless. 6:45 pm, everything gone. Then just a wok. Also up. I became extremely angry. Along a highway! Worthless. Suddenly the wok was possible. Apparently people wanted to go home. Dirty tables etc. Never again.

They are super nice people. I come there almost every week with my children because of the play area and service. Issa always makes a special children's menu for my youngest.

Unclear. There were no bouncers today. The gentleman became irritated when we asked. Because we had to look more closely at the sign with a bouncer that had been taped away. Along the way we just wanted a bouncer. There are about 30 different signs. The grill side was fully open with lighting, but you couldn't order anything there because the gentleman standing behind it said that it was still closed. .Not a pleasant stopover... Upon entering, there was a very large puddle of water on the tiled floor at the entrance... I said something about that, but when we left 15 minutes later the puddle was still there, and there was no sign warning that it could be slippery....

Ate here with my daughter, she had the satay For 19 euros you expect 2 or 3 skewers of satay with some fries. However, she got 1 stick with quite a lot of fries Expensive satay!! I had the classic burger and it made me sick, stomach cramps, vomiting I filed a complaint about this but received no response, then contacted again but still received no response

I loved eating the soup at this place, La Place 😋😋😋. One of the best I've had in the Netherlands 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱.

Nice thing, that's why 2 stars. However, the prices are exorbitantly high. For 2 cappuccinos from a machine, so not made yourself, 7.20 euros. Who comes up with this? Average price in Mederland is 3.21 for cappuccino. So we are on the high side here. That is possible, but please make sure it is freshly prepared.

Very friendly and helpful service! That's actually the only positive thing... the food tastes good, but nothing more than that, the salad bar "meets" all the healthy hypes of the moment, but a regular salad... Just go for a 'steak' is never sold out. (Mayonnaise may cost a bit…)Unfriendly atmosphere. Opening hours… closes very early for a roadside restaurant, just before Amsterdam, main artery A1!! So if you're late don't bother...sanitary drama with tickets that don't work, devices for water, soap, washing/drying hands?? Why can't you just wash your hands??!!

We had a delicious breakfast here, we were late but were helped immediately. Excellent service from the staff, egg was made extra, sandwich was made extra which was no longer there. Perhaps a slightly more expensive breakfast than elsewhere, but the atmosphere is great, the quality of the food is great and the staff is very customer-friendly.

Issa, the review as promised. The pizza tonno was delicious. Extremely friendly and personal assistance. The tip to cut the pizza into small pieces was absolutely correct!! Good service, even better pizza. And all because of Issa.

Veggie wok here means 95% pasta and 5% vegetables. For which you pay 12.60e. Vegetarian means that you offer an ALTERNATIVE to meat, not omit the alternative and then charge the same price for it.

Chicken was dry. I have forgotten the name, but it was chosen on the advice of the chef. Salads are tasty, you can create whatever you want to mix. It's also nice that there is free water to tap.

Fantastic meal. You can see and taste that the food is cooked with love. The recipes are also original and innovative, and the team seems to enjoy working there. It's nice to be able to have a nice, quiet and good meal after a day at work. Do yourself a favor and skip the neighbors' food ;-)

Roadside restaurant with good choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very expensive indeed! Ideally located on the A1 motorway with ample parking.

I was amazed at the variety of fresh, tasty meals. The service was excellent and fast, despite it being busy. Large dining area as well as a terrace. Tasty food, clean tables plus a friendly and efficient staff make this place a worthwhile stop.

A large and comfortable roadside restaurant with various types of dishes and drinks; you can charge your phone at the table on the right near the entrance. You are allowed to consume your own food and drinks.

Wow. The Italian pizza chef served me a truly masterful pizza (Margherita). One of the tastiest pizzas I've ever eaten. Bellissimo! My wife's noodles and pastry were also tasty. Great location with excellent pizzas!
