Truly delicious food and excellent service with a friendly host and staff. It makes you feel at home; you're more than welcome. And the price is more than reasonable. In short, highly recommended.

Portions were small. 1 dish is not enough for a hungry person. We went there on Friday evening and it was noisy so had difficulty to talk with friends.

Our dinner went as we expected, superb 👌🏼 server was kind and hospitable. Also asked our spice tolerance though we chose spiciest level 5. Must try chowela and barahsinghe top combo 😉 go with a reservation. Can't wait to go again!

Great food, atmosphere and service!

The food was delicious, there were also vegetarian/vegan options, the service was excellent, and the food arrived quickly and piping hot. There is a spice level scale, which you should be aware of.

So flavourful!!!!!! Really unbelievable food. Highly highly recommend and quite reasonable prices. The paneer was the star of the meal for me. You can skip the pan fried dumplings, but the soup dumplings rocked.

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam! I have been here 3 times and am now just looking for an excuse to go my 4th. I order something different every time and the food is incredible every time! The service is also great. I am obsessed with their Chicken Choila (best thing on the menu) and they are always happy to recommend a good spice level for the group. 6/5 recommend!

I went to eat alone. The short, short-haired woman wearing glasses served me, but she was so rude and didn't even answer when I called her. When I went in and said hello, she pointed to a seat with her finger. In particular, she didn't even clear away the cutlery and utensils. There were three of them right in front of me. I asked if she could clear them since I was eating alone, but she mumbled something while cleaning them up. She was really rude. Oh, and she's friendly to white men. ^.^ I'll never come back! I feel really bad and I'm leaving~ She glared at me when I was leaving. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ This is the first time I've been to a restaurant like this in all my travels.

We all had delicious food, two of us were vegetarian, great momo, tasty soup. the person who had chicken loved it. The stuff was very friendly, even though it was a bit slow, as usual ib Amsterdam.. you dont cone here for atmosphere, mainly for good friends food. and a bit spicy

Delicious homemade dishes and efficient staff. The homemade steamed chicken momos were our favorites! The Bali chicken, despite being a little too salty, and the mutton thali were also good. We were able to try the butter tea, which was a new discovery for us and which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the sauce on the chili momos didn't seem homemade; it seemed very sweet.

literally 10/10, we walked past the place and decided to check it out, it was busy enough and the people looked happy whilst eating, so it felt like a safe pick. I was expecting something else for the soup with momo. The soup was completely cold, could be better served hot. But overall the food was good, i will go again

Came here with a friend to eat Nepalese food, and we didn't miss out. We ordered the so-called momos, or dumplings in Russian. Each of us ate a portion, it's a pity that there were only 8 pieces. The friendly waitress advised me to take momos in soup instead of boiled momos, because my buddy ordered fried ones, and they taste very similar to boiled ones. I liked that she did this, took care of us. But, of course, there was an internal feeling that I was eating something unhealthy. Even while eating, I thought, why is spicy food such a hype, people really like spicy food. It literally hurts... The evening was overshadowed by a sobbing child at the next table, he sobbed for 20 minutes, which prevented me from focusing on the food. The atmosphere is rather tasteless, they just stuck 10 identifying signs of Nepal on the walls and turned on annoying music. I don't think the real Nepal looks like this. But it's delicious

Pork choila and pork dry thukpa were perfect

My second time experiencing nepalese food and it made me love it even more! The staff is extremely polite, friendly, they always have good recommendations for those who never tried Nepalase for food or for those who cannot decide. The place is small but cosy, with a relaxed atmosphere. The food itself was delicious and although spicy, it wasn't at all uncomfortable (i say this with confidence, because I do not enjoy very spicy food). You will always be asked about your spiciness tolerance and you will receive suggestions and the food will be cooked according to your spiciness preference. All in all, great experience! Do try the original Nepalese beer, it is quitegood and refreshing after spiciness. :)

This was delicious and a nice setting. Quick to seat you and take orders. Food cooked fresh so many great dishes we asked for spicy and they did not fail. Service was fast staff helpful and polite. Small restaurant but not noisy easy to chat with background noise. Food was delicious.

I thought I had a good idea of ​​Nepalese/Tibetan cuisine after visiting restaurants. Until now: welcome to Lakhay! To start, we started with a samosa (€6.95). Familiar, but clearly very fresh and with a spicy mix of potato, onion, and lentils in spicy spices. Fried or not: absolutely not greasy. Along with it was 'Pork Chola' (€13.95), which turned out to be roasted pork belly. Crispy, not overly salty at times, and deliciously seasoned with spring onion, garlic, coriander, and soy sauce. Lime and fried rice were served on the side. Two completely different main courses, shared together, complement each other perfectly: 'Chicken Dry Thukpa' (€16.95) and 'Local Bhale' (€19.95). The former is a noodle dish with minced Himalayan chicken, peas, sesame seeds, garlic, and a soy-like sauce. The Nepalese "Local Bhale," rather unconvincingly described as "with crispy potato," turns out to be chicken: grilled, tender with a delicious grilled flavor, and there's a fried version. Potatoes? Warm wedges in their skins and cold as a salad. Also served here: fried rice. The menu is in English, as is the service, except for the owner. He speaks with passion, more convincingly than the menu, which are (particularly) recommended. Conclusion? The Nepalese/Tibetan dish turns out to be even more versatile than I thought...

Excellent dinner featuring dishes that weren't exactly local. Everything we ordered was well received, even the Spacey side was spot on. Prices were average with other local restaurants.

We tried the mixed momo, local bhale, and pork dry thukpa. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and the food was really good! For the momos, we especially enjoyed the veg ones.

Great food and very friendly staff. They were very helpful in selecting dishes. The Jhol pork was especially delicious! The Lakhay platter (generous portion) and Pork choila are also highly recommended.

As a Nepali, I can vouch that Lakhay has one of the most authentic Nepali taste.

I went here years ago and still think about it — the food was incredible, the staff was so warm and kind (they even opened the restaurant back up after they had closed because we wanted to eat there, and recommended amazing dishes), and the atmosphere was lovely. We went to dinner here both nights of our trip because it was so fantastic. I was reminded of this experience when my friend asked for Amsterdam recommendations — this will always be the first on my list!

Absolutely delicious. Lakhay really brought me a taste of home. The pork choila was packed with flavours, although I expected it to be served cold, the taste more than made up for it. The momo were absolutely perfect, just like what I grew up eating back home. It’s a pity I couldn’t eat everything they have in one sitting. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore the rest of the menu. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Nepali flavors in Amsterdam!

Everything we ordered was delicious. If you don't know what to order, the waiter will give you recommendations. The best was the curry chicken stew with rice and beans.

Food was all right. Very noisy place. Right after finishing our meal, the waiter asked us if we would like to have anything else, which felt a bit rushy.

I recently visited a Nepali restaurant and had a wonderful experience! I tried some typical Nepali food, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich, authentic, and comforting. I'd never had this kind of food before, so we followed the recommendation of the owner, who's from Nepal, and we loved it!! The chicken was perfect. My boyfriend's dish was hearty, with an indescribable variety of flavors. We also tried the Nepalese beer, which we found delicious. The staff is super friendly and patient. I recommend it to anyone who wants to travel to other countries and experience different cultures through food.

It was our first time at the restaurant, we were greeted with welcoming atmosphere and the food smelled really nice. We were so excited for the whole Nepalese experience! Despite our enthusiasm, the owner had a few micro agressive acts towards our table. First of all, we all ordered rice dishes but my specific rice was stale, but its okay, it happens. Then he told us not to use our phones which warms our hearts because a lot of adults are neglecting these addictions among the youth. However, later on, the owner said "i had a lot of groups of Chinese who always on their phones" and mimicked the Chinese negatively. Well, it is rude to express that to any customers group, and more specifically we are Asians not Chinese. I tried to tell him that it is judgemental to assume all Asians as Chinese and to my surprise and shock, he said "you look like me, you look like my mom". What a strange thing to say to a young girl coming from middle age man. Overall, we were let down by this establishment.
