Good restaurant for a tasty dinner and fast service

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to in Amsterdam, the atmosphere is beautiful, the service is wonderful, the food was something else, full of flavor, everything was perfect, I will definitely return.

We have organised a group dinner here and everybody loved it. The food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and people who worked there were very kind. The owner (Can Bey) was very responsive and thoughtful to our group. I can not recommend it more! 5/5 experience overall.

The food was beyond perfect, and what makes it worthy of 5 stars is the fact that the service was also beyond perfect. Add to that the fantastic decor, and you have a place you'll want to return to. Thank you for the excellent care, service, and food. We'll be back!

What a beautiful restaurant in Amsterdam. We couldn't fault anything about it. It's very busy, but the service is excellent. Menu choices are very wide ranging, both food and drink. Just a superb experience all round. And we were chaperoned by the owner himself. A proper hospitality professional. Just remember to book well ahead, and you'll have a brilliant evening.

A really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. An extensive menu with plenty of delicious appetizers, main courses, and desserts. One minor drawback was the price/quality ratio of the tenderloin. It wasn't as tender as you'd expect for this cut of meat, but the flavor was fine. The Katmer and Kunefe desserts were delicious! Definitely recommended.

Nov 25 We had a delicious meal at Black Olive! The staff were very friendly and immediately gave us a warm welcome. We were lucky there was a table available for four, as it gets quite busy, and even during the week, reservations are definitely recommended. We received complimentary still water and bread, and as a bonus, a small pastry and a limoncello on the house. The decor is homey and cozy, which only enhances the atmosphere. A great place to enjoy good value for money and friendly service!

Yesterday, I dined at Black Olive with a few colleagues, and we had a truly fantastic evening. The food arrived quickly, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and rich! The staff was incredibly friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to socialize and enjoy a good meal. All in all, it was an excellent experience. I highly recommend it for a delicious meal with colleagues, friends, or family. We'll definitely be back!

We were offered homemade tapas on the house, and to finish off, we also received a chocolate mousse, which topped it all off perfectly! We had a wonderful experience at Black Olive. What a waste of money!! When I visited this restaurant with some friends, I had hoped for a pleasant culinary experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The starter, the carpaccio, was disappointing: the meat was too pink, limp, and simply flavorless. I also ordered the Çerkez Tavuk, but it was so salty that I couldn't eat it. For the main course, I chose ravioli; however, it turned out to be the worst ravioli I've ever had. The pasta was mushy, the dough far too soft, and the sauce, which was supposed to have a creamy texture, was thin as water. Therefore, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The only positive thing about my visit was that the drink, a ginger ale, tasted okay.

Our first night in Amsterdam we came here for dinner. We shared the lamb shoulder for two and had the stuffed grape leaves. Was very pleased at the amount of gluten free options and the server was quite informed as well. They brought over complimentary breads ( and gf ones as well ) dips and olives. Would definitely recommend a visit!

We went here for a company outing and therefore had the group package. Soup as a starter and some small cold and hot appetizers. It's a shame you don't know in advance what you'll get. So, we got bread, then the ailio, and even later two tapenades. The latter were rather bland and tasteless. The feta rolls were very tasty, though. Chicken drumsticks weren't popular at our table. I would have preferred chicken tenders. I had the chicken with mushroom cream sauce, which turned out to be sauceless. The chicken was tender and flavorful. It could have had a few more potatoes. The dessert was gone in one bite, and we didn't see the baklava on the menu. A third drink was never offered. So, it was okay, but I won't be going back anytime soon.

They offer honest advice when we have questions. We were given bread rolls and olives as a starter while waiting for our main course. We were full after the main course, but we still wanted to take some baklava home, and luckily we could! Thank you so much!

After 4 years living in Amsterdam, finally I found the restaurant. Tasty food, amazing lamb, good service…. It sounds crazy here but they give you bread with alioli and some olives while you are waiting your main course. Very very good one!

What a wonderful place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. This café has a relaxed atmosphere and exudes tranquility. The baristas really know what they're doing – my latte was perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The homemade cheesecake was delicious, with a light, creamy texture. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I appreciated the ample space between tables, which provided privacy. The background music was soft and atmospheric, just right. The interior is tastefully decorated with soft colors and plenty of natural light. The value for money was excellent. I'd happily return again.

The music? Perfect. Just the right vibe to enjoy your food and conversation. We had a wonderful meal at Black Olive, and were truly amazed by the flavors and dishes. The cigar pastry (with feta) was a delicious starter. A delicious tomato tapenade and chicken tapenade were provided by the house. The main courses were very tasty. The chocolate mousse was delicious afterward. The atmosphere was lovely and the service very attentive and friendly! Highly recommended!

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam

If you find yourself in Amsterdam, especially around Rembrandtsplien and wondering where to eat then I strongly suggest you take a short walk to The Black Olive. I visited this restaurant on a bit of an off chance with friends and the restaurant was busy but the very friendly staff quickly accommodated us. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I think this restaurant is a bit of a hidden gem and well worth a visit. I am in Amsterdam quite often and I will definitely be back to The Black Olive.

Our party of 4 had amazing food on 2 separate evening occasions. Staff very friendly. They provided complimentary dips with bread while we waited for our meal to be cooked. They also supplied complimentary dessert.

Was pleasantly surprised with the food and service here after we decided not to visit another restaurant around the corner based on their menu. Found Black Olive to be near by and was greeted with friendly service and great food. The black olive mix was great tasting with different types of grilled meats which was seasoned welled with wonderful flavors. So good that we back a second time before departing Amsterdam and had the lamb shoulder for two. It was enough for three. The best restaurant we found in Amsterdam during our four day stay

Black Olive, which we visited for dinner during our trip to Amsterdam, was a quiet and cozy restaurant. We ordered the Black Olive Mix and the salmon asparagus dish. The meat was well-cooked and flavorful in various ways, and the salmon was moist and went well with the refreshing lemon dill sauce. The food was all of high quality and the portions were generous, so we were satisfied. The staff was friendly and explained things in English well, so it was easy to order, and the service was good overall. It is a restaurant that I would like to recommend when you want to enjoy a proper meal in Amsterdam, as it has the perfect balance of atmosphere, taste, and service.

Restaurant shares most of it's menu with the next door "brother"-restaurant "Olijfje". Excellent food, friendly and welcoming staff. We came without reservation and the host managed to slot us in for 1.5 hours even though he had a full restaurant with even a small wedding reception, booking is definitely recommended. We even received a small chocolate desert on the house. That was a very nice touch that I have never seen in any other restaurant.

Best food experience we had in Amsterdam - was looking at going to some 2* Michelin restaurants that evening , but happy we went to a simple, great place like this.
