Plenty of gluten free options! The food was fantastic! The veggies were roasted to perfection the Lamb tenderloin was tender, the rice was delicious! To start they brought gluten free bread with an aioli and olives that was very tasty! And we finished the meal with a melt in your mouth chocolate mousse!

As always, a delicious meal with the best service you could wish for. Beautiful restaurant with ambiance and top-notch staff.

Without a doubt, one of the best Turkish restaurants I have ever visited. The appetizers were outstanding, the meat was perfectly cooked, and the desserts were absolutely delicious. The Adana Kebab was the best I have ever eaten – full of flavor, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The quality of the food was exceptional, especially considering the reasonable prices. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Amsterdam who is looking for authentic, high-quality Turkish food at a fair price. I will definitely come back on my next visit to Amsterdam!

This is a lovely restaurant that my wife and I added to our favorites for dinner during our Amsterdam vacation. We went without a reservation and managed to get a table around 6 pm. The design and atmosphere of the place were very nice. We ordered lentil soup, tzatziki, and mixed kebab. The soup was incredibly good, on par with many good places in Istanbul. The lamb skewers, chicken, and meatballs in the mixed kebab were also delicious. Even the künefe (a type of Turkish dessert) we ordered was excellent. We were very satisfied with the food and service, and we plan to visit again 🙂

We originally had reservations at the sister restaurant to this, but they closed due to the heat wave. A person who I believe was the owner met us at our reservation time and escorted us the the Black Olive. He apologized for the change but accommodated us quickly. Our entire experience was positive and very tasty from the appetizers through dessert. The servers were very friendly and attentive. They spoke English quite well. Our meal was delicious and exceeded our expectations. I only wish this restaurant, the Black Olive, was located closer to our home in the USA. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a delicious meal, a very nice atmosphere, and finally a restaurant again where you still get an old-fashioned glass of water and a basket of bread. They are helpful and don't make a fuss about anything. Definitely recommended!

We made a reservation online, they seated us after a 5 minute wait as the restaurant was very busy. The food was very tasty but the tables for two people are really too small! I highly recommend the lamb! Excellent!

This place is run by two brothers, a retired police commissioner and a software developer. Thanks to their tremendous energy and hospitality. You can eat and drink here with complete peace of mind.

We ate at Olijfje for the second time today, this time at the Black Olive branch, and were incredibly satisfied again! The service was amazing once more and the food was super tasty. My parents came along this time too, which made it a very special evening for us. It was important to me that they truly enjoyed themselves as well, and that certainly happened. We were able to eat quietly and at our leisure in a lovely atmosphere. All in all, another very successful evening. Olijfje was absolutely the best choice. We are very satisfied again and will definitely be back! 🤍

The restaurant is really cool! Contemporary decor, Mediterranean menu. We ordered a hummus/pastrami appetizer and the lamb shoulder (a dish for two), and it was a lot of food. Everything was delicious. The wines were a bit expensive. The one we chose (the second cheapest) was very good. Excellent experience! P.S. We didn't order dessert, but they brought complimentary chocolate mousses with the bill. ❤️

We dined at Black Olive on a Saturday evening, having made a reservation in advance based on its strong reviews. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of expectations. The restaurant itself is undeniably attractive—warm, inviting décor and a relaxed atmosphere set a promising tone on arrival. However, this was where the positives ended. Service was inattentive, unenthusiastic, and notably slow throughout the evening. When the food arrived, it was equally disappointing. The meats were tepid, overcooked, and under-seasoned, while the accompanying vegetables and potatoes were cold and appeared to have been sitting for some time. Given the pricing of the menu, we expected a far higher standard. The cost suggests a premium dining experience, but the quality of the food and execution did not come close to justifying this. The disconnect between price and delivery made the experience feel particularly poor value. Given the consistent high ratings, it is difficult to reconcile how our experience reflects the standard of the restaurant, unless this was an unusually poor service. To compound matters, after leaving a significant portion of our meal unfinished and requesting the bill, we were subsequently marked as a “no show” on the reservation platform. This felt both inaccurate and unprofessional. Overall, a disappointing end to what had otherwise been a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. I would not recommend.

For our first time in Amsterdam, this was one of the best meals we’ve had. The two of us are trained chefs and bakers, so we don’t say that lightly—our standards are high, and this place delivered. Service set the tone right away. The gentleman who seated and served us was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful, and the rest of the staff matched that energy. We started with the Antep ezme, alongside an assortment of olives and house-made bread. Everything was clearly prepared on site, and the quality of the ingredients came through immediately. For mains, we had the rack of lamb and the sea bass, each served with rice and fresh vegetables. Both dishes were executed beautifully—excellent ingredients, balanced flavors, and spot-on preparation. Even though we were already full, we finished with the chocolate mousse. It was outstanding—rich, refined, and notably better than what we’d had in Belgium. Absolutely worth your time. This is a place to seek out, not stumble into.

Excellent Mediterranean cuisine. Excellent service, with a friendly, smiling staff. Very attentive and fast. Very good value for money.

Absolutely outstanding. After my husband and I placed our order, the server brought over a basket of soft, fluffy, delicious bread along with our drinks. The bread was cut into thick slices and there was enough to feed 4. Then the server brought out 3 small bowls. One contained green and black olives, another contained a creamy dip, and the third contained a dip containing minced chicken and ground walnuts. We didn't expect any of that and we're impressed by the restaurant's generosity. Hubby had lamb kebabs and I had Greek salad. Both dishes were scrumptious. We had kuneifah for dessert and it was the best we'd ever had. (It also came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.)The server had removed our dishes and placed new plates, napkins, and cutlery before serving dessert. Moments after dessert was served, the owner came by to chat and demonstrated how to mix the ice cream and kuneifah on the fork. We think this restaurant is as good as the Michelin star-rated restaurant we dined in in Turkey.

Amazing Mediterranean food! This had the best Mediterranean food we've had since a visit to Turkye. The Adana kabobs were cooked perfectly with a nice combination of spices that enhanced the lamb. Before the main courses they served a huge basket of fresh, earn bread, olives, a chicken spread, and olive oil that could have been a meal in itself. The dessert was kunefah which was best we've had, bar none. The service was impeccable. This was the best meal we had in 5 days in Amsterdam.

When we popped by the owners who are brothers have a delicious serving of Turkish food were so amazing. We didn't have a reservation but they took us to this restaurant and made a table for us. I was with my wife, kids and sister in-law. We had to go back to eat out there are. If we're in Amsterdam we we shall be back!

The food and service were top-notch. Upon entering, the atmospheric ambiance immediately stood out, and the staff was very friendly. We were very politely asked if we could move on, and the bread was simply replenished when it ran out. Customer friendliness is a top priority, and you could tell. This was definitely worth repeating!

We decided quite spontaneously to see if we could still get a table for two late in the saturday evening, even though we didn’t have a reservation. Despite the restaurant being seemingly full, the waiter welcomed us warmly and promised they will arrange a table for us. We were shown to our table very quickly, and our orders were taken almost immediately but without any feeling of pressure. Right after taking our orders, we were served very tasty and fresh bread, olives, and tzatziki. The food arrived very quickly, and I have to say that the chicken kebab and the lamb tenderloin were perfectly prepared. The meat was cooked exactly right, and the vegetables were authentically Mediterranean in flavor and most delicious. All in all, we would never have expected that, so spontaneously and without a reservation (on what must have been one of their busiest days) we would receive such fast and genuinely warm service. Combined with food this delicious, the experience easily ranks among our very best restaurant visits. Our warmest thanks to the restaurant, and our highest recommendations to anyone considering dining here!

This place is amazing! The staff was so kind and patient. We are from the United States so there definitely was a language barrier, but they treated us with so much respect and patience! Also, we had a tree nut allergy, and they were so careful and considerate with our food! They gave us chocolate mousse, tzatziki sauce, and Belgium chocolates on the house (Please get the chocolate mousse, it’s delicious)! The food was amazing, the restaurant was great, I truly loved it here! If we come to Amsterdam again, we will be returning!

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to in Amsterdam, the atmosphere is beautiful, the service is wonderful, the food was something else, full of flavor, everything was perfect, I will definitely return.

We have organised a group dinner here and everybody loved it. The food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and people who worked there were very kind. The owner (Can Bey) was very responsive and thoughtful to our group. I can not recommend it more! 5/5 experience overall.

What a beautiful restaurant in Amsterdam. We couldn't fault anything about it. It's very busy, but the service is excellent. Menu choices are very wide ranging, both food and drink. Just a superb experience all round. And we were chaperoned by the owner himself. A proper hospitality professional. Just remember to book well ahead, and you'll have a brilliant evening.
