Restaurant Black Olive Amsterdam in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

After coming from Turkey and not being able to eat anything decent in Amsterdam city center for 2 days, we came to this place after searching online. It was the place we were looking for. Both we and our children ate delicious food to our heart's content. We can recommend it with our eyes closed.

Service very good. Restaurant serves primarily mediterranean dishes. Food is average, however (mains better than starters). Overall pleasant experience.

We were traveling from Canada and popped into the restaurant just arriving in Amsterdam. The staff amazingly found us a table - despite restaurant being very busy. Service was wonderful and everything we ordered was simply delicious. Would definitely recommend!!!

Really nice place with a beautiful space. We came as a big group of 29 people and the food came at a perfect time. We had a menu which was delicious and the starters were really good. The rest of the food was amazing too. My personal favorite thing was that the water is cool and free and you can ask for it as many time as you need. The service was really amazing and our teachers even got a offered a coffee on the house which is very pleasant and the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. You could also talk with the people sitting with you at the table without having to shout and it was very charming and a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. We also have some persons that have allergies and they remembered everything perfectly and were very attentive. I would definitely recommend !!!

The key ingredients in this restaurant's cuisine are pride and love. This is our first day in Amsterdam, and any other restaurant we visit has a tough act to follow. The service was warm and inviting, and the ambiance was the cherry on top.

Black Olive wurde uns von einem Kollegen empfohlen und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht: obwohl wir 9 Personen waren und keine Reservierung hatten, konnte der Besitzer uns einen Tisch innert kürzester Zeit anbieten. Das Essen war sehr fein, die Ambiente schön und das Personal super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben verschiedene Gerichte ausprobiert: unser Favorit: Circassian Chicken (Mezze) und Chops. Aber auch die anderen Gerichte (Rice, Mixed Grill Plate, Adana Kebab, Künefe, etc.) waren sehr lecker. Ausserdem vielen herzlichen Dank für die offerierten Vorspeisen, Baklava und Tea! Sollten wir jemals wieder nach Amsterdam gehen, werden wir das Restaurant definitiv nochmals besuchen. - We were looking for a delicious restaurant during our two-day trip to Amsterdam. We went to Black Olive upon the recommendation of a friend, and we're glad we did: Even though we were 9 people and did not have a reservation, the owner arranged a table for us in a short time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We tried different dishes; our favorite Circassian Chicken (Mezze) and Chops. However, the other dishes (Pilaf, Mixed Grill Plate, Adana Kebab, Künefe, etc.) were also amazing. Also, thank you very much for your treats! It is the best Turkish but European restaurant you can find in Amsterdam. Food and appetizers are delicious. We ate lamb shoulder and chops, it was very good. We would like to thank the owner Mr. Can and his brother Mr. Ender. Attention and service are at the highest level. Be sure to try it.

I went to the restaurant with a friend, and even though we didn't have a reservation, we snagged a table right before it started getting busy. The service was super friendly and quick, and the vibe was nice. The food had a bit of a Turkish twist, but the rice in the stuffed aubergines and peppers was a bit mushy, and the yoghurt was more like heavy cream, missing that zesty kick. After the starters, we decided to skip the main course and desserts, although the baklava did look pretty tempting. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We found this restaurant while looking for an authentic place in Amsterdam. It has a very convenient location. The place serves top quality Mediterranean plates with side dishes. It has also a quiet ambient which is a perfect place for family dining. Strongly recommended.

Food quality and service were very good. When ordering an unknown soft drink, they were offered to taste it first. We also received delicious bread with three types of dips for free as an appetizer. Main courses of grilled lamb tenderloin with gorgonzola sauce and T-bone steak with homemade chimichury were very tasty. After dinner we were offered a glass of water and delicious baklava. So definitely recommended.

Nice place to eat Turkish, for the drinkers you also have snacks. If you want to avoid snacks then this is not the right choice otherwise good food for occasions

We were originally trying to go to Olijfje which was fully booked and they directed us around the corner to their sister restaurant, the Black Olive. We had an amazing time, everyone we interacted with was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Our server (who may have been an owner/manager?) was fantastic and made sure I was accommodated with my gluten restriction. Most items were naturally gluten free, and everything that had gluten was labeled on the menu. He even brought us a round of limoncello shots at the end. What a delicious meal!!

6 days in Amsterdam and we had dinner 3 times at this establishment! We were attracted by the warm atmosphere and then seduced by the flavors. The staff are friendly and efficient.

I was craving Mediterranean cuisine and we ended up at Olijfje/Black Olive (both restaurants are under the same owner). I chose the Adana kebab and my partner the tenderloin. We were fasting, but the main course came a little later. So we got free soup! In addition, we also received other small side dishes for free. Coming back to the food: it tasted very good. I was quite surprised by this, because the Adana kebab tasted just as good as in specialty stores. The tenderloin is also recommended; the sauce tasted very good! The service was super good

We only had group arrangement and it was definitely over priced and what they call a 5 course meal is just actually a 3 course meal. It is certainly more than enough food but not worth the money considering most of it is just Turkish bread. The main course was also quite over cooked. The chocolate mousse was lacking texture. I would not recommend the group menu. We also got over-charged because we booked but some of our guests couldn't make it.

Restaurant Black Olive was a fantastic experience! My girlfriend and I tried the tapas there and we were really impressed. The patates bravas were delicious, perfectly seasoned and nice and crispy. What a surprise that we even got a portion of the house to take home! The service was excellent; the staff were friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcome. It was a great evening all around, very friendly, very clean, very attentive and quick service!

One of the few rare restaurants without racial discrimination. It's hard to find a place like this in Europe, but it was in front of the hotel. (This place is famous for being one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam, so I recommend making a reservation on Google!!) The mixed grill lamb and beef were seasoned just right without any odor, and the grilled salmon was also very delicious. The rice and grilled vegetables were really delicious. But the aperitif bread, sauce, and olives were the most delicious in the world haha. I almost couldn't eat because the reservations were full, so I went in because they asked if it would be okay to eat for just an hour. (For Koreans, a 20-minute meal is enough haha.) The taste, service, and atmosphere are all perfect. A place where you can feel the warmth that you must visit when you come to Amsterdam. If you visit Monet Garden, be sure to visit!!!!

A busy restaurant with a lively atmosphere and excellent staff. Every member of staff was helpful and with a great sense of humour. Food was superb. We all had lamb dishes which were flavoursome, plentiful and very well cooked. Great place, well worth a visit.

We had dinner there with a group and from the moment we entered there was a very pleasant atmosphere and the staff was incredibly friendly. The tapas were versatile, the olives and olive oil (from Crete) that were on the table were of top quality. All dishes were served in an appetizing style and all types of meat (in the mix grill dish) were wonderfully tender and perfectly seasoned. It wasn't too overpowering and you could still taste the natural flavor of that piece of chicken, minced meat and lamb skewer. The dessert was also just the right amount and the Turkish coffee I ordered was prepared for me with all the care and time required. I enjoyed it immensely. I felt like a guest in their home instead of their restaurant. I definitely recommend Black Olive and I will definitely go back.
