A wonderful restaurant. The owner and the staff were all very hospitable. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the food were very nice. Many treats came to our table.

Black Olive, which we visited for dinner during our trip to Amsterdam, was a quiet and cozy restaurant. We ordered the Black Olive Mix and the salmon asparagus dish. The meat was well-cooked and flavorful in various ways, and the salmon was moist and went well with the refreshing lemon dill sauce. The food was all of high quality and the portions were generous, so we were satisfied. The staff was friendly and explained things in English well, so it was easy to order, and the service was good overall. It is a restaurant that I would like to recommend when you want to enjoy a proper meal in Amsterdam, as it has the perfect balance of atmosphere, taste, and service.

Restaurant shares most of it's menu with the next door "brother"-restaurant "Olijfje". Excellent food, friendly and welcoming staff. We came without reservation and the host managed to slot us in for 1.5 hours even though he had a full restaurant with even a small wedding reception, booking is definitely recommended. We even received a small chocolate desert on the house. That was a very nice touch that I have never seen in any other restaurant.

The food was delicious. We had a delicious lamb chop. The service was also fast, and we were delighted with their friendly service and extra treats. Thank you for experiencing Turkish cuisine abroad at such a superior venue and with such delicious flavor. I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. The customer service was superb, the service was superb, and the food was beyond magnificent and delicious. I haven't had such delicious lamb shish and chicken shish in all my years. Their secret is to make a special marinade, fresh daily. I definitely recommend dining here. Be sure to make a reservation.

It is the best Turkish but European restaurant you can find in Amsterdam. Food and appetizers are delicious. We ate lamb shoulder and chops, it was very good. We would like to thank the owner Mr. Can and his brother Mr. Ender. Attention and service are at the highest level. Be sure to try it.

Not very top end, but just really really good. Really tasty food, generous portions, fair price and really friendly and attentive staff. Best food experience we had in Amsterdam - was looking at going to some 2* Michelin restaurants that evening , but happy we went to a simple, great place like this. Left with a huge smile and two happy diners. So happy places like this still exist- no gimmicks, just really good food and service.

the menu is not accurate, black olives dip is green olives and butter, grape leaves are 98% rice, dry and not tasty, grilled chicken bites are actually chicken wings so not very specific menu. a bit disappointed since is highly reviewed but they can definitely improve the menu and the food.

The first meal in Amsterdam, a Mediterranean restaurant, the handsome waiter (actually I suspect he is the boss) is Greek, warm and hospitable and good at introducing. *Lamb Shoulder is very tender and delicious, a big portion, the roasted vegetables are full of gravy, great👍 *Homemade Pastry is filled with pistachios, after it is served, the handsome waiter helps to spread ice cream, then cut it in half and wrap the ice cream. He said that vanilla ice cream and crispy pistachio cakes go very well together, you must eat it this way. Sure enough, it has a very special taste and texture, I fell in love with it at first bite. I forgot to take a photo before processing, and my friend described it as scallion pancake wrapped in ice cream, hahaha, it looks similar, but it is really not at all😂 The handsome boss said this is a traditional Turkish dessert~ I am very happy to try something new😋

The food and appetizers were delicious. After the meal, they made us feel at home with tea service. When I come to Amsterdam, this will be the place I will eat again 👍

I felt really lucky for myself and my family to have entered this restaurant that we happened to pass by in Amsterdam. As soon as we stepped into the place, I understood that this place would not let us down. The owner of the place, Ms. Emel, and the staff were extremely attentive, caring and very professional. The decor, accessories and service products in the place were very stylish and high quality. Now, let's come to the dishes, each one was like a work of art and the tastes were perfect, the masters in the kitchen had made the final touches to the dishes wonderfully, everything was as it should be.

Amazing service and beautiful food

A delightful meal, both the vegetarian main & lamb were delightful. The staff was very helpful with detailed descriptions and suggestions. A delightful pre-ballet option for us, we were concerned that we had book to early but spent a wonderful half hour over cappuccino savoring the last bites of dessert. Perfect walking distance for a stroll to the National Opera & Ballet even in heels.

This was the best meal that we had in Amsterdam. The service was absolutely immaculate and they were so nice and helpful. Run don’t walk seriously. The lamb for two was cooked to perfection and the appetizers were equally as good.

Nice experience in Amsterdam, if you are visiting this city it is worth stopping by. The food is good quality and it is definitely a great alternative to eat well and avoid the usual tourist junk food of European cities. We ordered chicken kebab and lamb kebab, and unfortunately, they were tasteless and not worth it. The feta salad was average without sauce. The grape leaves were also subpar. The hummus was also nothing special. The cola was also cold. The atmosphere is excellent, but the price is not worth the taste. The restaurant owner responded to the comment and stated that he asked me about my food, but this is not true. I was the one who told him that the food wasn't good, and I never asked him if the olives were for sale. Of course, I will eat all the food because I paid 100 euros to the restaurant. The restaurant owner should respect other opinions. Thank you. In continuation of the restaurant owner's response, he replied that I was only upset with the price, but the truth is that I was upset with the quality of the food for the price. Once again, you should not personalize things and accept all opinions. As a restaurant owner, you should not pursue restaurant guests with responses. Life is beautiful, and try to improve your customer service.

After coming from Turkey and not being able to eat anything decent in Amsterdam city center for 2 days, we came to this place after searching online. It was the place we were looking for. Both we and our children ate delicious food to our heart's content. We can recommend it with our eyes closed.

Really nice place with a beautiful space. We came as a big group of 29 people and the food came at a perfect time. We had a menu which was delicious and the starters were really good. The rest of the food was amazing too. My personal favorite thing was that the water is cool and free and you can ask for it as many time as you need. The service was really amazing and our teachers even got a offered a coffee on the house which is very pleasant and the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. You could also talk with the people sitting with you at the table without having to shout and it was very charming and a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. We also have some persons that have allergies and they remembered everything perfectly and were very attentive. I would definitely recommend !!!

I went to the restaurant with a friend, and even though we didn't have a reservation, we snagged a table right before it started getting busy. The service was super friendly and quick, and the vibe was nice. The food had a bit of a Turkish twist, but the rice in the stuffed aubergines and peppers was a bit mushy, and the yoghurt was more like heavy cream, missing that zesty kick. After the starters, we decided to skip the main course and desserts, although the baklava did look pretty tempting. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

We found this restaurant while looking for an authentic place in Amsterdam. It has a very convenient location. The place serves top quality Mediterranean plates with side dishes. It has also a quiet ambient which is a perfect place for family dining. Strongly recommended.

Food quality and service were very good. When ordering an unknown soft drink, they were offered to taste it first. We also received delicious bread with three types of dips for free as an appetizer. Main courses of grilled lamb tenderloin with gorgonzola sauce and T-bone steak with homemade chimichury were very tasty. After dinner we were offered a glass of water and delicious baklava. So definitely recommended.

We were originally trying to go to Olijfje which was fully booked and they directed us around the corner to their sister restaurant, the Black Olive. We had an amazing time, everyone we interacted with was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Our server (who may have been an owner/manager?) was fantastic and made sure I was accommodated with my gluten restriction. Most items were naturally gluten free, and everything that had gluten was labeled on the menu. He even brought us a round of limoncello shots at the end. What a delicious meal!!

6 days in Amsterdam and we had dinner 3 times at this establishment! We were attracted by the warm atmosphere and then seduced by the flavors. The staff are friendly and efficient.

I was craving Mediterranean cuisine and we ended up at Olijfje/Black Olive (both restaurants are under the same owner). I chose the Adana kebab and my partner the tenderloin. We were fasting, but the main course came a little later. So we got free soup! In addition, we also received other small side dishes for free. Coming back to the food: it tasted very good. I was quite surprised by this, because the Adana kebab tasted just as good as in specialty stores. The tenderloin is also recommended; the sauce tasted very good! The service was super good
