A real experience! The staff/chefs know what they are doing and the conversation flows very nicely! We had an incredibly delicious meal and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You are served 20 small dishes, and if you want more, you can upgrade on the spot (for a fee)! Close to Amsterdam station and very cozy!

A truly beautiful and unique experience. Each course was a surprise, with flavors and combinations unlike the sushi we're used to, and everything was truly delicious. We chose the counter experience, sitting with the other guests in front of the chefs who prepared each course before us. The atmosphere was very intimate and pleasant; they immediately made us feel at ease and even made us smile. The only shame is that, not knowing the language well, we weren't able to fully enjoy the explanations that accompanied each dish. A truly special experience, one I would definitely do again ❤️

I ate omakase sushi for the first time and I am glad it was at Ken Sushi. Everything felt special, from the atmosphere and the beautifully decorated restaurant to the chef's personal explanation. He really took the time to explain what we were eating and how best to taste each piece of sushi. That made it not only delicious, but also fun and interesting. Highly recommended!

I became very sick after eating here on my birthday. Please avoid at all cost!! Also didn’t feel like a authentic Japanese omakase experience. The owner is Thai, and there’s Thai influence in the dishes that you get. None of the sushi chefs were Asian, and the sushi chef we had told us that he only had about a year of experience. We’ve tried a lot of omakase and sushi in Amsterdam & Tokyo, and the food at Ken sushi just wasn’t up to par, especially for the price. You just pay for the Tik Tok hype. At the end of the meal you get the chance to pay €25 for an upgrade to get extra sushi pieces, and if you choose not to you end up waiting on the other people to finish their meal and you’re just stuck there. Extremely disappointing and absolutely ruined my birthday.

Ken Sushi is fun to try, and we really enjoyed the sushi. But we were seated in the back room, and it could definitely be made a bit cozier. You pay quite a lot for an evening like that, but that space looked incredibly cheap. Ugly lamps, a plant, and a cabinet that looks like it came from IKEA—a wardrobe hidden away with a curtain. Even though they make a really good profit on it, they should complete the picture and really bring out the atmosphere with the interior; that would make the experience much cozier.

Excellent sushi experience (with the emphasis on experience!!!) I found the advanced experience price match quality and quantity perfectly The ingenuity and creativity/ degree of surprise of each piece was delightful Just the restaurant itself smells a little weird downstairs (sewage?) but otherwise staff and experience are excellent too

Ken Sushi was absolutely incredible. If you only eat at one place while you’re here, make it this one. The omakase is phenomenal and very reasonably priced for the quality. The restaurant itself has a beautiful, intimate atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Be sure to make reservations well in advance, they book up quickly. If they had openings, we would have gone back the next day and the day after. It was that good. It’s definitely more of a local date spot but everyone is very friendly & again the food was amazing.

What a wonderful experience this was. From the moment I stepped inside, there was a very pleasant atmosphere. It really is a beautiful place to eat quietly and enjoy craftsmanship. The way the fish is prepared is impressive to watch. The fresh ingredients in the wooden box on the bar looked fantastic, and everything tasted exactly as it should. I will definitely come back here again.

Food was undeniably great. We had the omakase advanced and all dishes were top-notch. Ken was explaining everything well, which was ‘beginner friendly’. At the end we could choose one of the dishes again, which was a nice surprise. Only feedback I can give is that the service of the surrounding staff could be a bit more attentive which would be more in line with the rest of the experience. Lastly the waitress recommended a banana sake, which I’m happy for that she did because it was a pleasant surprise!

Ken Sushi is truly my favorite restaurant! You have to experience this at least once. Every bite is a delight and an incredible taste sensation. The chefs explain the dish and the best way to eat it in a fun way. That makes it all complete! I've been four times now, and each time I get a different menu, so it's always varied! So it remains a super experience every single time. A solid 10/10!

What an evening! I was lucky enough to get a spot. We started with a delicious cocktail, and then the omakase could begin. The techniques and quality of the food were truly amazing. Dish after dish, I was constantly amazed by the taste sensation. The chef made the whole experience even more enjoyable with the knowledge he shared about every part of the process. I won't be able to pick a favorite. But if you are asked if you want to do the upgrade for the extra 5, say absolutely yes. It is so worth it. Don't forget to enjoy the delicious sake. Pure enjoyment.

This is utter garbage! The quality is terrible! They have no idea what Omakase is! This kind of venue can only fool foreigners 🤦🏻‍♂️

This is not an omakase. Very overrated. Normally, at an omakase, I enjoy every bite and you can really taste the fresh, high-quality fish, but here the quality was very mediocre. Absolutely not worth the money. The level is more reminiscent of an all-you-can-eat restaurant than an authentic omakase experience. I even felt scales and bones when I took a bite of the eel nigiri, which really shouldn't happen at a restaurant in this price range. You are better off spending a little more and eating at a real Japanese place. Here, it is mainly about commerce.

I visited KenSushi expecting a genuine omakase experience, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. First of all: this is absolutely not omakase as it should be. With good sushi, the rice should be subtly present and certainly not visible or dominant — that was not the case at all here. The balance was completely lacking, which immediately detracted from the quality. Additionally, the fish was of a very mediocre standard; honestly, comparable to what you get at a standard all-you-can-eat restaurant. That is not what you expect when paying for a premium omakase. What made the whole experience even more disappointing was the pace. Everything was served in rapid succession. Instead of a personal and relaxed experience, it felt rushed and impersonal. With four “bars” serving about 40 people simultaneously, the restaurant feels more like a food factory than a refined sushi experience. It completely lacks exclusivity and experience, which is precisely what omakase should be. The impression you are left with is that the focus here is clearly on volume and profit, rather than on quality and guest experience. In short: a major disappointment and absolutely not the experience that is promised.

While the chefs are not Japanese, they prepare authentic sushi with great care and attention to detail. Each piece is thoughtfully explained, making the experience both enjoyable and informative. If you appreciate well-made sushi and a guided tasting experience, it’s definitely worth a visit.

A very good experience overall, but the service was a bit disappointing, especially the waitress who tried to sell us an outrageously expensive sake when the house sake was perfectly fine.

Ate at Oekaze here for the first time with my girlfriend and was completely blown away. 80 euros for 20 courses, and they just kept coming. Super tasty, good quality, and a beautiful place. The staff are engaging and passionate about the food. Absolutely recommended for a special evening. The price-quality ratio is good! I would definitely go here again.

Very yummy high quality sushi, but a bit too much overlap between standard (inc. upgrade) and advanced omikase. (Edited to 5 stars after having had sushi at sushi sho in stockholm (1 Michelin star), with less food & variety for way higher price.)

Just had an amazing omakase dinner at Ken Sushi and honestly it lived up to all the hype. The fish quality was outstanding, fresh, clean, and every course just kept getting better. The chef was super friendly and took the time to explain each dish as it came out, which made the whole experience feel really special. Some highlights were the sashimi platter, a beautiful smoked salmon served under a glass dome, and a tiny but perfect ikura gunkan. Simple presentations but the flavors were spot on. The vibe of the place is great too, a cozy counter seating, nice lighting, very relaxed atmosphere. If you haven’t been, go. It’s popular for a reason and one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back.

What an experience this is! Highly recommended, especially if you want something different from a ‘just good’ meal out. The ingredients are so fresh, they melt in your mouth. Course after course, it feels like an angel is peeing on your tongue. And to put it politely, every single dish has a unique flavor. Stijn was our chef, and besides cooking fantastically, he also created a great atmosphere. So, highly recommended. But be warned, after this, you will never be able to eat sushi anywhere else.

Very tasty, very nice chef... but the 20 dishes really go by at breakneck speed. In principle, you can be back outside in just over an hour, which just detracts from the whole experience.

Incredible omakase experience at a fair price. The service was exceptional, and we really enjoyed some of their fresh takes on traditional Japanese dishes. I would definitely recommend paying for the additional courses because they were some of the best of the night. No notes, and we can’t wait to return!

The sushi was delicious and beautifully presented. I'm giving it 4 stars because I was expecting a slightly more interactive experience: less conversation and more time to watch the chef cook and enjoy the process firsthand, which would have been spectacular. Even so, it's a highly recommended spot if you're looking for quality sushi in a relaxed setting.

We went for the Advanced experience (150 euros pp) after checking reddit for reviews. The food was good, fish was fresh, story telling careful. However compared to other omakase & fine dining places we went to, we found the price tag way too high unfortunately. The meal we got would have been rightly priced at 100 euros

We visited Ken sushi and were placed in the Tako room with Chef Stijn. He gave us the right dosis of Dutch humor and served our Omakase with passion and flair! Omakase consisted of 20 bites/€80p.p this was not enough for our appetite so we did the €25 upgrade for 5 extra bites. Pricing is a bit steep but we enjoyed our evening.

A chef for a very long time. Came over from Ireland and wanted to eat here! Boy it did not disappoint. Fantastic from start to finish. My wife and I said we will return here on our next visit to Amsterdam as soon as possible. Nothing overly fancy but complete respect for the ingredients they present. Absolutely fantastic! A very enjoyable sushi experience. There are different rooms here, and you can choose between Omakase and Omakase Advanced menus. I went for the regular Omakase, and I was almost stuffed. The chef explains everything in detail and prepares everything right in front of you. Just when you think you're done, he gives you the finishing touches for an extra 20 euros. :) It was a very enjoyable experience that I highly recommend.

Remarkable experience that combines delicious food with the chef’s high skill. They serve a set of 20–25 pieces, one each. You get a basic set, which is recommended to enrich with an extra five-piece course that includes some of the best dishes. You can also choose a few items to repeat, so try to memorize what you get. The wine list is not extensive, but the prices are quite affordable for such a place. They have three different areas and are located not far away from the central station, so it’s very comfortable to get there even if you arrive just for this experience.

This was one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in our four years of living in Amsterdam. Every course was prepared with so much care and explained beautifully by Chef Ken and his team. The food itself was incredible, but what made it even better were all the tips he shared on how to enjoy each bite to get the best flavours and textures. I’ve been lucky enough to eat at some amazing spots - from a tiny sushi place in Osaka’s fish market to Endo in London - and I can genuinely say that Ken Sushi is right up there with them in terms of quality and the overall experience. It’s a family business run with so much passion, and we’re huge fans of what Chef Ken has created.

Yes, the sushi is good and fresh (as you would expect). The storytelling by chefs is also a nice touch. Having been there a handful of times, I have experienced watching the staff stuff their mouths with sushi at the end of the 8:30pm sitting. I have absolutely no problem at all with staff eating but when it’s weird and almost as if they’re hiding it, it’s so awkward. I can’t even look away because you are directly facing them. Honestly, just wait till people leave and enjoy in peace or just openly eat without being mischievous- it catches more attention.

Amazing experience, cannot wait to go back. The food was fantastic, very high quality and beautifully prepared and presented. It really is an experience over just being a dinner. We had the extra 5 pieces and I would do that every time. I would recommend it to anyone who lives here or visiting the city. They were also very mindful of an allergy I mentioned in the reservation and so polite about it. 10/10 all around.

The dining experience was mixed. Firstly, while the food itself was delicious, the portion sizes were noticeably inadequate. This felt somewhat calculated, as the menu ended with an upsell option to buy more for €25. Secondly, the chef's tendency to provide very long descriptions for each dish was distracting and disrupted our attempts to have a relaxed conversation during dinner.

Food was good but by all standards way too little. This seemed deliberate to us because at the end of the omakase set menu you were able to “upgrade” for more food for 25 euro’s. Also the chef had quite a long explanation for every dish which can be annoying if you just want to have a conversation over dinner.

Sadly I went in with very high expectations, which were ruined. After my dinner I was in a bit of a rush as I had a flight to catch. So instead of opting for the extras I asked for the bill. After paying and leaving a tip, I said thank you to the chef which in return he made a comment in Dutch that resulted in everyone laughing. Made me feel very embarrassed which is not something you would expect from a place that you are spending over €100 on. Would not recommend, especially as a solo traveler.
