Lolapalooza in Wijk 21 Regentessekwartier

I ordered a sandwich with cheese that cost around 8.5 euros, but what I received was dry bread with just a bit of cheese. When I asked the lady for some butter, she screamed, “Butter is expensive!” (not mentioning that the basic bread I ordered was also expensive, it was also factory bread, looked like cheap ah bread). Honestly, I think butter - or any sort of spread, like oil or bread spread - is a standard expectation for a sandwich 😂. When I went to pay, she charged me an extra euro for the butter. After my visit, I read other reviews and saw that many people had similarly negative experiences with the staff there. Just a heads up!

The woman behind the bar was surprisingly rude. I'll never go there again.

Great coffee, terrible service. Don't go here for a nice cup of coffee. The lady behind the bar was unappealing. You're much better off going to Fleur's across the street.

Unfortunately I won't be coming here anymore. Just like more of the negative experiences, the owner gets very catty when things go wrong. Had a golden milk that was colorless and tasted like nothing. Asked if I could have an extra shot. The eyes rolled up and said "that's 1 euro", "this is homemade and very strong stuff". Well, try it yourself I would say... the carrot cake also tasted like little. Too bad because it has potential.

Delicious coffee and delicious cake, but never again for us. Never been treated so unfriendly as here. When serving the plates of cake I wanted to help by taking it, but you really shouldn't do that. Sighing and rolling her eyes was enough of her body language to let us know that she didn't appreciate that. The coffee cups were then almost thrown on the table, but it was not far off.

Nice café, you can sit there in peace and quiet, away from the tourists. Decent coffee and drinks, and delicious cakes. Everything's great.

Been several times, and always helped by an unfriendly, grumpy woman. In theory it could be a very nice place, but the service is downright negative. It seems as if the owner decides per customer whether she likes you or not, and I read the same in varying reviews (from positive/friendly to unkind/unwelcoming)

Treasure of a woman. Made me a sandwich after the kitchen was closed (because I'm pregnant and the lolapalooza sandwiches are the only things I really like). It was delicious. Come here very often, great cozy place with tasty food.

Sat outside on the terrace (where another two ladies were sitting). The waitress came outside to bring the other two ladies their drinks and took my order. After waiting more than 30 minutes I still did not get what I ordered. Then the waitress came outside and told me she threw out my order that she had prepared inside because I never came inside to get it in a very condescending way. When I said I thought that was strange since she didn't tell me I had to do that she told me she was not allowed to serve drinks outside. Very odd situation since I was sitting at their terrace and she had brought outside the drinks of the other two ladies sitting next to me. Very strange, uncomfortable and negative experience. Not going back.

Welcoming place with a comfy setting and delicious menu

I came there for a chai. I get a water milk tea, it has no taste and is colorless. I ask the employee if the tea could be a little stronger. The employee felt so attacked and started addressing me in a catty manner. She indicated that the tea could not be stronger and that she could choose a new drink. I got up and left. Never going to Lolapalooza again.

A really nice cafe, on a beautiful street. The atmosphere is so beautiful and the cafe owner is so nice! The food is really good and the coffee too!! When you’re near this place please check it out!

lovely place to take a break or have lunch... all homemade, delicious fresh cakes (also gluten-free!)... fresh juices... good, carefully prepared coffee and many choices such as fresh ginger or mint tea... For workers and social media users, there is wi-fi... Moreover, the manageress' smile is gold!

Customer unfriendliness at its finest. Go here especially if you want to be treated rudely. The lady does not understand that a coffee shop in a neighborhood only survives if customers like to come back. Don't spend any money here, because it won't provide a pleasant experience.

Mijn moeder en ik hadden een leuke shopmiddag en besloten vandaag rond 14:00uur gezellig een kop koffie te gaan drinken. Bij binnenkomst zag het er druk uit, maar 2 dames gingen net weg en zeiden vriendelijk tegen ons “er is plek hoor achterin”! De eigenaresse achter de balie was bezig met koffie en zei daarop gestrest: “ik ga zo kijken of er plek voor jullie is”. Waarop ik vriendelijk zei: “oh ik zie dat er plek is hoor en deze dames vertelde ons dat net ook!”. De eigenaresse keek me vervolgens zéér geïrriteerd aan en zei weer exact hetzelfde, maar nu zeer onaardig: “ik ga zo kijken of er plek voor jullie is!” Mn moeder en ik keken elkaar verbaasd aan van de zéér onaardige ontvangst en zeiden tegen elkaar, “kom, we gaan weg, hier willen we geen koffie drinken..” Toen we wegliepen riep de eigenaresse ons nog na “ik bedoelde dat ik moet kijken of er geen reserveringen staan!”. Waarop ik netjes zei: “sorry, maar door deze onaardige ontvangst willen we hier geen koffie meer drinken.” Erg verbouwereerd door dit incident zijn we doorgelopen en wat gaan eten bij ondernemers die wél weten hoe ze met gasten moeten omgaan. Zelf ben ik ook ondernemer, eigenaresse van een PR bureau, waarbij ik in zeer veel restaurants kom en koffietentjes, zowel privé als zakelijk omdat wij daar de promotie voor doen. Ik moet zeggen dat ik al die jaren nog nooit, nergens, op deze slechte, onaardige manier ben ontvangen!! Mijn advies: ga vooral koffie drinken bij een ondernemer die je hartelijk ontvangt, en die je het gunt. Wij hebben onze middag er in ieder geval niet door laten verpesten ;)

Lollapalooza used to be my "me time" place since 2016. It's lovely, fresh and used to be quiet. People start to bring their babies there, it's awful now. If I wanted to hear children screaming and crying while trying to read the paper or enjoying a drink, I certainly would do it at home.

I for sure won't come back because of the overall experience! Pros: Cakes were indeed quite good, the coffee was ok. Also on the plus side: we got what we ordered! And she even offered by herself to split the apple juice in to glasses for our two kids. Minus: ATMOSPHERE/COSTUMER FRIENLDYNESS We did the big "mistake" of not ordering everything we wanted from the beginning (I didn't know if the kids would like the cake and/or still be hungry after the first piece). So after a while I got an extra cake and "queued" (e.g. waited until she looked at me) at the bar and got the cake to our table next to the bar. We was already grumpy about that one. Then the 1st kid finished the cake he shared with his sibling and wanted another one. So he queued. When it was his turn she asked "What do you want?" And since he needed more that 1 sec to answer, she skipped him saying "Oh, nothing, next one". (I was already almost next to him to help him with answering, but she had skipped him and not let me help out) Anyway, we waited together again to order extra cake nr.2. She replied super unfriendly: "But that was it for sure this time!" It was soo rude, that when the other kiddo wanted a 2nd piece of cake, I didn't dare to order it despite him crying because he wanted a second like his brother!!! (He was promised and got something else somewhere else obviously) We quickly finished up, payed and left!

Coffee and tea is good, don't forget to taste their marvellous cakes. You also can order whole cake for takeaway 😋 Great service and worth your money.

The older woman serving was curt and after asking if there was another item on the menu, she responded angrily and reproachfully, also to other customers. Then treated rudely at checkout. I have been working in the catering industry for years, if I treat customers like this I can leave immediately, it is not necessary at all and that is how you lose well-paying customers. I see from other reviews that I am not the only one who has experienced this. Shame. The coffee was still good to drink.

Primma lomatie en heerlijke koffie

Vriendelijk en snel geholpen! Het eten daar is altijd heerlijk en ze wisselen het menu vaak door de seizoenen. Ik ben daar regelmatig geweest voor lunch, kopje koffies of thee maar ook om te werken. Er zijn alijd lekkere gebakjes in aanbieding. Ik vind ook dat de drankjes en lunch heel betaalbaar zijn als je rekening houdt met de kwaliteit van de producten. Echt een aanrader!

Great place for Sunday morning coffee and cake. There are no gluten-free baked goods though. But cappuccino is great.

Tjezus. Volgens mij is ze net terug van vakantie naar enorm chagrijnig. Smeet nog net niet mijn koffie op tafel zonder wat te zeggen of beetje vriendelijkheid. Snap het hoor. Het is druk. Warm. Maar huur ff iemand in ofzo. Ik dacht dat get aan mij lag maar mijn dochter van 12 zei: nee mam. Ligt niet aan jou. Cappuccino normaal heerlijk maar vandaag ook niet echt. Beetje jammer mevrouw.

Super relaxt, maar genoeg aandacht. En heerlijk eten. Perfecte prijs en kwaliteit 😍

Heerlijk eten alles vers prima.

Leuke plek voor ontbijt, lunch of koffie. De eigenaresse oogde moe en geïrriteerd. Ze maakte duidelijk dat het eigenlijk niet de bedoeling dat we koffie en eten tegelijk bestelden want de koffie moest voor in de zaak gemaakt worden en het eten achter in de keuken. Ze stond alleen en smeet met de deur naar keuken. Was er iets mis? Te weinig personeel? Het geboden ontbijt en de koffie was in ieder geval dik in orde.

Coffee isn’t great (too weak) but I did have a great bowl of pumpkin soup there!

Lolapalooza is echt een topzaak! Super vriendelijke eigenaar en bediening. Alle broodjes en taartjes zijn heerlijk en er hangt altijd mooie kunst van lokale artiesten.

Great cafe with super friendly staff. The homemade cakes are the best you'll find around. Bonus for foreigners: It is one of the very few friendly places that wouldn't switch to English when you make Dutch grammar mistakes while ordering (although they're fluent in English too).

Smaakvol ingericht, lekkere koffie, heerlijke boterhammen en vriendelijk personeel.

Deze dame heeft het duidelijk niet op kinderen. Mijn zoontje wilde tijdens het wachten op mijn bestelling op een stoel aan een tafeltje gaan zitten. Hij werd direct aangesproken door de eigenaresse dat dat niet mocht. Er kon geen lachje van af, gaat het? Het kind is 2 jaar, neem het niet te serieus allemaal. Maar dikke prima, rechtsomkeer gemaakt naar het koffietentje aan de overkant waar we wel vriendelijk werden ontvangen :)

Jaren geleden was dit mijn vaste stek voor lekkere koffies, lunchen en taartjes, totdat de bedienende dame opeens onaardig en koud ging doen. Vandaag weereens terug gegaan, en de dame in kwestie verwelkomde ons hartelijk met een warme glimlach. Het ging prima, totdat we een tweede drankje wilden bestellen. We weten niet wat misging, maar ze zei dat ze zou komen, en negeerde ons vervolgens volkomen. We zijn na een tijd maar opgestapt, en bij het afrekenen keek ze me niet eens aan: stoïcijns staarde ze de andere kant op. Heel vreemd en heel onbehoorlijk ook. Nu zullen we het nooit meer opnieuw proberen.

This is a nice and cozy place. However, it is important to note that, if you are international, the staff is not particularly nice to you if you don't speak Dutch. When I asked to repeat something someone answered me with an upset "Jesus Christ", and the order of all the Dutch clients who had come after me were served well before mine. Overall, if you're looking for a place where they accept internationals, I would not recommend this café. If you are Dutch, however, I observed that the service was good.

Leuk, gezellig zaakje. Wij hebben er een babyshower gedaan, met heel veel lekkers bij de koffie, zoals brownie, kleine taartjes en ook hartige quiches. Aan de vegan wordt ook gedacht 😉.
