LOT&DAAN Restaurant Rotterdam in Rotterdam Centrum

I have been trying to reach Lot&Daan for a few weeks now, but unfortunately I can't get in touch via email or phone :( Such a shame!

I made an online reservation for lunch with my daughter on Mother's Day. When we arrived, the place was closed. Several people showed up for nothing. Afterwards, I received an automated message asking how we had found our visit. I never heard anything about it again.

I made a reservation last Saturday for my mother's birthday. When we arrived, there was no sign of life; we called but got no answer. This despite the fact that I received a confirmation in my email twice. I have emailed you but have not received a response to date. Normally I do not write reviews, especially not negative ones. But this is simply sloppy and not polite.

The day before yesterday, May 21, 2026, we had a - confirmed - reservation for 2 people at 12:00. Upon arrival, the place turned out to be closed without any further notice. Door locked; lights off; not a soul in sight. Goodbye Lot&Daan, see you never again.

Made a reservation for a large group, but subsequently became unreachable, even though they are open. It is very strange that it is impossible to get in touch. Tried by phone, email, and Instagram over several days. What does it take to reach you?

Reserved for 12:00 but stood in front of a closed door with 6 people; the website says open on Sundays from 9:30 to 17:00 and the reservation + confirmation email, what a farce.

Could not rate the food because they were closed at the time we were served (Sunday morning). Received a confirmation and even a reminder of the reservation. Very poor service and communication this way.

I arrived on a Sunday at 2 PM. I visited this establishment for the first time. It was a popular spot, so busy; luckily, I had made a reservation. But even with a reservation, you had to wait 30 minutes before you could sit down. I had an affordable lunch via Social Deal. A two-course menu. Choice of 2 soups and a main course OR a main course with dessert. I chose the latter. My choice was the Jamaican Chicken Sandwich with Papadum Pita Bread Plantain (fried plantain) on a bed of bell pepper, tomato, and mixed salad 🥗 with vinaigrette. Cappuccino and a Red Velvet Cake. Originally, I came for the carrot cake, but it was sold out. It was super delicious. I was blown away. It was that good. I had never eaten Papadum before; it was super thin, delicate, and unbroken on my plate. The Jamaican Chicken thigh was moist and not dry, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Very tasty and flavorful. I am curious about the pastrami. That is the same price as the Jamaican Chicken Sandwich. I went for the second time on my birthday on a Thursday, early before 12 o'clock. I got a bit less salad, but a lot more slices of fried plantain. I had a Coke Zero cappuccino and a pecan pie. The latter was so delicious. Exactly like what I had in 2014 when I was on vacation in Atlanta, America around Easter. Back then, The Walking Dead was super popular. But filming had stopped because it was a holiday period. I didn't know that; I was hoping for a small role as an extra in The Walking Dead. I went for the 3rd time (all 3 times with Social Deal). I had a reservation for 11:30, but I arrived to find the door closed. They had forgotten that I had a reservation. Normally, the place is open every day from 10:30. I just went home and reported it to Social Deal for a refund. I don't know what happened that day. I also didn't mention to Lot & Daan that they forgot about me. At least, not my reservation. It's not a big deal; luckily, I live nearby. Lot & Daan has an extensive menu. Do make a reservation in advance. But if you stop by before 12 o'clock, you can easily find a seat; after 12 o'clock, maybe too, but it is better if you reserve. You can try your luck by just dropping by, hoping for an empty table and chair for you. Lot & Daan is located in the Oude Haven area and in the Stadsdriehoek district of Rotterdam. My absolute favorite spot. Where boats or ships are moored. There are many restaurants here that offer a nice menu. It is also close to the city center, the Markthal, and the Central Library, where there are also many restaurants.

We had booked for Sunday lunch, but when we arrived, the restaurant was closed. However, our reservation had been confirmed and the restaurant was listed as open on Google.

Reserved for Saturday, April 26, 2026; upon arrival, the restaurant turned out to be closed all day. The terrace looked neglected. A staff member walking outside could not confirm whether the restaurant would reopen.

Had a delicious meal at a very nice restaurant. Friendly service.

The American pancakes were literally the ones from the supermarket with half a slice of cheese and 2 pieces of bacon. The cappuccino was watery and the Mexican sandwich was a pita bread with vegetables without dressing, salsa from a jar, and chips from a bag. All in all, a supermarket-quality lunch that was very disappointing. The people were nice, but it was not a pleasant experience.

Nice little restaurant, had a good meal. We will definitely go back again. It is a shame, though, that there is nowhere nearby to park your car. *edit* Went back a while ago with another person; I had completely hyped up this restaurant, but it was a huge disappointment. There is still nothing wrong with the food, but the service was a joke. A young girl with a stormy expression on her face the whole time. It got even worse when she was addressed in Dutch. Well, then I'm not switching to English at all... figure it out yourselves. Two other girls went to have an extensive lunch themselves first, were naturally served by the first one, and the paying customers had to wait. I held back, but that was terribly annoying. It must be holiday work given the time, but still. A waste of your restaurant.

A lovely place to have lunch with the little one! The sandwiches were tasty and well-prepared, only the chicken was a bit on the dry side. The place itself is beautifully and cozily decorated, making you want to sit there for a while. Great spot!

We had a nice meal. The atmosphere is good. I understood that if it is busy, you have to wait a bit longer for your food. We got our food quite quickly. The decor is neat. Just one tip: wash the windows and make the exterior a bit more attractive. I think this place definitely has potential.

Bad experience. Staff severely understaffed. Long wait before the staff came to take our order. They were out of oranges for the Mimosa. The Italian Melt was also sold out. The cardboard menu looked old and worn. Eventually, we had two cappuccinos, paid for them, and then left (without eating). The owner/manager was not present either. A shame.

Had breakfast this morning after waiting 45 minutes. The kitchen didn't have things under control. Everything took way too long, and several guests were grumpy. The orange juice is more ice than oranges, the espresso is lukewarm and poorly brewed. They forgot to put the croissants in the oven. Colleagues were grumbling at each other. Received apologies at least five times… Unfortunately, not worth repeating.

We did a high-tea with 3-courses. First course was a soup, the second mixed sandwiches with white and brown bread, with either chicken, salmon or veggies. The food was good and the price per person reasonable. However, the service was slow.

There's little atmosphere. Hang some spotlights near the bar to brighten up the yellow wall. It's currently a dark, uninviting space.

The service is rushed and lacks connection. The sandwiches are uninspired; the ingredients are simply dumped on the bread.

We were here, the food was really delicious, but the mango drink was a bit small, but surprisingly delicious, the atmosphere could have been better, the service was a bit slow, they only spoke English, which was a bit of a disadvantage, as you should also speak Dutch, in our opinion, we had a nice afternoon.

Nice location with good food, it can get busy (and loud) quickly here as it is not a very big restaurant.

Lot&Daan, we hadn't been there before. What a lovely, well-organized place. An original menu with plenty of choices! Polite and friendly service, and right on time. There's a cozy atmosphere, very pleasant!

We had to wait 1,5 h for the food and the service was really slow. The food was ok, but not tasty. Does not recommend, go somewhere else.

We got the Daan breakfast plater and Lot breakfast plater. Both were lovely and at a reasonable price for what you get. The service was very slow though, although we were one of the first ones there. Coffee arrives likewarm and we still had to wait a while before getting the food. The staff were friendly though and took orders pretty quickly.

This isn't what it used to be. Ready-made, lukewarm pancakes, and the whole place was empty. This used to be a really nice place! But you don't have to come here anymore.

We were really looking forward to American pancakes for breakfast. It turned out all-day breakfast wasn't available in the morning. After ordering, we were told it would take about 20-30 minutes for the pancakes to be ready. We could either order something else or get a drink on the house. Since we came for the pancakes, we chose the latter. However, when those 20 minutes were up, we were told it would take much longer. A rather vague explanation. Then another employee came by with the explanation: the batter hadn't been made yet, which was why it was taking so long. All in all, we sat there for 45 minutes, and we left without breakfast. Drinks were included, but all in all, a disappointing experience.

The service and the awful wait were terrible, never again!! I had to wait 30 minutes for my order to be taken and an hour for my food, which wasn't even good. The bread was very dry and clearly made in a rush… I absolutely do not recommend it, and it's expensive for what it is!!

We had to wait fifteen minutes for someone to look at us, even though we were among the first in the restaurant. After the answering machine, we had to wait another hour for a hard-boiled egg and a piece of bread with avocado. It was edible, but the atmosphere and service were 0.

We had to wait over an hour for our breakfast, which was very frustrating. When the food finally arrived, it was very disappointing and the quality was subpar. The service was clearly lacking, and little attention was paid to the long wait. The atmosphere was also anything but pleasant. We give the atmosphere and service a solid 0. Not recommended.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a welcoming atmosphere; you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in. The price-performance ratio is also good. Unfortunately, we had to wait around 40 minutes for our food, even though the dish only consisted of three different components, two of which simply needed to be baked – this seemed quite long for a brunch. Additionally, the jam and orange juice, which were included in the set menu, weren't brought out initially. Overall, a solid mid-range brunch spot, with room for improvement in the service. Therefore, a solid 3 out of 5.

Very very bad service/ not clean restaurant/ i really don’t recommend this restaurant

It took a long time for someone to come to the table; the person spoke little English or Dutch. Once I ordered, it took ages to get my hot chocolate with whipped cream; I had to ask for it again. The "uitsmijter" (fried bread roll) was truly pathetic: cold ham, one small toastie-sized slice of cheese over one egg, the top of the egg still runny and the bottom completely crispy, and it went cold quickly. It was a very disappointing experience.

This was the first time I walked out of a restaurant. Upon entering, we weren't even looked at or given a seat. After ten minutes, we just sat down somewhere free. When, after half an hour, no one had come to our table to take drink orders or greet us, we tried to go to the bar to order, but were told by the table next to us that people had been waiting for their food for over an hour. Two tables with us got up and left at the same time, but no one apologized. We sat in the restaurant for at least 45 minutes without speaking to anyone. Poor service; we won't be back.

A cold reception, a bit of a drag at the door. Waking chairs. Cold food despite the fact that it was supposed to be hot. Unclean tableware. Coffee not presented well.

Had lunch here with my mother! What a lovely place! Super beautiful and atmospheric, and the food is truly delicious!! Very original dishes and generous portions! Definitely recommended and definitely worth a visit!

I recently had a baby shower high tea here, and I absolutely didn't think it was worth the price. I'm not a picky eater and I eat a lot, but this was truly awful, and the photos and description on the website don't match reality at all. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures, but I think everything except the sandwiches came from the freezer. Mini quiches were frozen and put in the oven. The sandwiches were "okay," but not great. We also got roast beef, which is strange considering it was a baby shower and a pregnant woman was present. The sweet "dessert platter" was definitely frozen. Cream puffs and a few petit fours. A lemon meringue, which definitely wasn't homemade. Furthermore, the service wasn't very friendly, it took a long time, and there was no clear explanation of the platters. The explanation for the sweet platter was literally: "a few cream puffs and such"... In short: not recommended, and you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Unfortunately my first not-amazing restaurant in the Netherlands so far. I ordered a flat white, orange juice, and the vegetarian falafel melt sandwich. When I got my food, unfortunately the very first thing I noticed was that there was a black hair on my plate, next to my salad... :( Very unappetizing. The food itself and the coffee was also not great. My flat white was extremely hot and had almost no foam (common beginner mistake when using the steamer of the coffee machine to froth the milk), the salad had no dressing apart from the tomato chutney on top, and everything with tomatoes tasted extremely sweet (both falafel sandwich and salad), overpowering everything else. Also I was asked to move tables to make room if more people were coming later, even though the restaurant was more than half empty and the 2-person tables can all be moved easily. After I had moved, someone else sat down where I had been before. The staff first asked them to move as well, but then told them it was fine and they could stay (since there was a lot of space open).

High tea for two at Lot & Daan last weekend. We were seated near the entrance, so unfortunately, we were bothered by the door opening and closing frequently, which often remained open, letting in a lot of cold air. We got up a few times to close the door. High tea was fine. We don't think the dessert platter is homemade, but the cream puffs are ready-made, as is the rest of the menu. The soup starter is delicious, but this time it was a bisque. It costs €32.50 per person.

We recently dined at your place after seeing enthusiastic videos of your dishes on TikTok. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to our expectations at all. We went for Mexican bread and received pita bread that was rock hard and barely edible. The filling was also dry, and the chicken breast with broccoli and curry sauce tasted like meat from the day before. This was very disappointing, especially since we came specifically to try it out. And I think because we bought through a social deal, we received a different treatment.

It started with them being out of all the tea flavors on the menu. Then I ordered an Italian melt and literally got a pita with just cheese and Parma ham. No mozzarella, bell pepper, or truffle in sight...

We had the high tea and really enjoyed it! It was quite surprising, as the high tea consists of three courses, which made it a lot of fun!

I've never been to such a bad restaurant. We'd already booked a social deal and arrived early on purpose because we were going to the theater. However, after only 30 minutes of waiting, we asked if someone could take our food and drink orders. We then told them we only had 20 minutes left after waiting 30 minutes... They couldn't do anything for us because it was so busy (how can you not have anything served within 20 minutes when you have 14 or 15 tables?). We asked if we could get something quicker, like soup, but even soup couldn't be served within 20 minutes. I made my own soup at home within that time. In short, a terrible experience, I asked for a refund and never again. I also advise everyone against buying a social deal from them. The complaint is already with the social deal.

Fantastic place! Lot & Daan truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is warm, relaxed, and inviting, and the staff is friendly. We were served quickly, and everything was prepared with care. The food was fresh, colorful, and surprisingly delicious—you can tell they're cooking with love. The coffee was also excellent. A place you'll want to return to immediately. Definitely a must-try in Rotterdam!

The avocado sandwich consisted of just one slice of bread with less than half an avocado on it. A sandwich implies you get two slices of bread, and avocado led me to believe I'd get at least half an avocado. It was supposed to have pistachios on it, but I couldn't see or taste them. What a waste of €14 for something I could have made better at home for €3. The waiter was competently proactive, but the rest of the staff seemed disinterested.

I have visited yesterday and was surprised by an amazing service of a brunette, tall women behind the bar. She was extremely helpful and polite while taking care of my table.

Update November 15, 2025: Unlike a year ago, this time it was very disappointing: - the staff (except for the English guy) was completely undedicated and uninvolved. One shuffled around a bit and wasn't at all assertive when I asked something ("Oh, I don't know"). The girl behind the bar looked bored. When they had nothing to do, they'd immediately pick up the phone. - The plates weren't cleared while I waited for my dessert, and we weren't asked if we wanted anything else to drink. And it wasn't busy; there were only five other tables occupied, each with two guests. - The food was okay, but the presentation could have been better. - It looked a bit grimy, and the restrooms weren't clean either. They should really clean the sink; you can tell it hasn't been used for half a day. - The kitchen staff was completely unprepared. It was already 3 p.m., but you couldn't order anything because it wasn't edible yet. - The atmosphere was a bit "meh," but that's also due to the staff's attitude. - The banana bread was terribly dry... In short, a shame, because I had raved about this place a year ago. Great place! —————- December 2024: Ordered an oriental salad and bitterballen. Delicious food. The prawns were also nice and big and juicy! Nice, relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff and a fairly extensive menu for brunch and lunch.

Delicious breakfast! We came to Rotterdam for the weekend and friends recommended this place for breakfast! It was worth it, as the flavors exceeded our expectations. Plus, the service was incredibly friendly 🤩 This is a must-eat place while exploring the area around the Blaack bus stop 🤓

The pancakes were dry. Ice coffee was homemade, but it wasn't good. The atmosphere was a bit like a school cafeteria. The chairs were also uncomfortable. I was also bothered by the bathroom door, which was constantly open, and the fact that you were staring at a toilet while eating. Sorry, I really didn't like it or find it tasty.

After we were both served the wrong dish, the correct one was delicious. It's a shame the outside door didn't close. It's getting chilly.

This time, I found the goat cheese a bit overpowering—thinner slices, as before, would be better. Otherwise, it's still a great place for lunch. What started out as a spontaneous idea quickly turned into a disappointment. I love eating breakfast out and have my favorites. Today I thought I'd try something new. Lot & Daan ultimately felt like "bust and go." There was no atmosphere, no music, and little interaction with the staff. The kitchen, in particular, was loud, which showed they hadn't really started the day well. The "love" in the food was completely absent. We had the Daan Breakfast Plank; the egg was missing, and so was the flavor. The double espresso we ordered became a coffee after about a 10-minute wait, and the omelet with aged cheese was a scrambled egg with a slice of cheese on top. And all that for only 41 euros. For us, the final verdict on "Lot & Daan" is simply passing.

Dramatically bad. It took an hour to get our order. The omelet was a burnt scrambled egg without the promised grilled vegetables. The chicken on the cheese melt was cold. Lots of staff who were incredibly slow.

Was served today by a tall brunette Polish waitress, she was very helpful and brought great vibes to the place. 5/5

A super cozy little restaurant where the two of us had lunch. There was a large group right in front of us, which made the wait a bit longer, but the service was super friendly and the food was delicious.

The decor was sloppy and worn, the staff knew nothing about the dishes, a dish that was supposed to be hot was served cold and the atmosphere was cold and impersonal.

Unfortunately, the place didn't impress us at all. The food wasn't good and was far too expensive. The value for money simply wasn't there. We also had to wait a very long time for our food—so long that we seriously considered leaving. Overall, a disappointing visit, one we certainly won't repeat.

Misleading what is stated on social deal,,limited choice but while the deal says choice from the entire menu,,then it turns out from the choice you can make that there are things that are not there,,staff very inexperienced and do not speak Dutch,,owner was visibly irritated,,small table with rickety chairs

First of all, upon arrival, the terrace looked chaotic and disorganized, with lights half broken or not fully hung. If you didn't know it was open, you'd walk right past it because it seemed very closed. Moreover, the place felt like a two-star hotel breakfast room where you could hear the cutlery being polished from a distance, and there was no cheerful music or lights inside. It looked like a giant children's party with all the flags and half-broken balloons strewn throughout the room. Furthermore, we weren't spoken to, and upon entering, it was unclear what exactly was going on. Eventually, we spoke to a staff member and were given a seat. It's very difficult to type these things, but the server in question seemed almost annoyed that we were there; she had no emotion in her face or an open and empathetic attitude. It was also very quiet in the restaurant, so I don't think it was due to the stress of being busy. First of all, we were served without cutlery... so we had to get up from our chairs for this. Furthermore, the pumpkin soup was incredibly watered down, as if we were drinking pumpkin tea. The rolls looked very good, but the breakfast platter was very meager. I also didn't get any honey (with the yogurt). I tried to sign, but the staff seemed oblivious to us. The croissant was also very dry, and overall, the amount of food was very small. The swear didn't match the photos, which was an added disappointment. From what I've heard from people around me, the overall experience is good, but I couldn't agree more. I won't be returning.

You can also rent this venue for a party. Cake, tasty snacks, music—it's all perfectly arranged.

Very nice restaurant to go for lunch! Super tasty food and also a lot of taste. A lot of nice options to choose from. Friendly staff and nicely decorated. I think the price is very good compared to the amount of food you get. I was full! The restaurant is easy to find. You just have to pay attention to how to get there. I will come back again.

It says open on google maps until 17:00. I arrived at 16:22 and they said they closing so aren’t serving anymore. I walked long time to arrive here so I’m sad.

The nice impression of the website was inviting. It was not possible to book the high tea by phone, but fortunately the email was responded to quickly. We had booked for 6 adults and 1 toddler (including high chair). Upon arrival there was no high chair and we had to wait 10 minutes for it to be picked up at another restaurant, sweet, but it should have been ready. The food was very basic and in strange quantities. For example, we got 3, 4 or 5 sandwiches, depending on the filling, but there was never enough for everyone, except for dessert, where 1 person had double. The website gives a fairly extensive description of what is served, including the homemade brownies. Unfortunately, they were not included either. The service was not very friendly, had no emotional control over the whole thing and reacted relatively clumsily. The table was nicely decorated and the chicken sandwiches may have had little chicken, but they did have a good spice. We spent almost 200 euros, unfortunately we did not go home satisfied. I do believe that if you order something from the menu with a small group, it could be a more positive experience. I saw people around us eating quite happily. The personal nameplate was a positive welcome!

The place is a bit hidden and the terrace is in the shade. The weather was nice and sunny, but unfortunately no one was sitting outside. The lunch was really fair! See my photos. Only the fried bananas that came with the Jamaica chicken were a bit burnt. Staff were very friendly.

Stopped by for brunch on a Saturday morning. We had a reservation for 2 people at 11 o’clock. It was not very busy. My friend and I both ordered a sandwich and a slice of cheesecake. My friend ordered the sandwich w/ salmon. It was served w/ avocado, cream cheese & salad. I ordered the “jerk chicken”. It was served w/ naan & papadum. The papadum was tasty. The naan was not. It was also served w/ fried plantains. They were delish. The food looked pretty. (Very Instagrammable.) But, some of the dishes lacked flavour. My friend said her sandwich was bland. They had not used any herbs and spices. The “jerk chicken” itself was flavourful, but the naan was hard and dry. The cheesecake was fine. The filling tasted very much like cream cheese. They did not use a lot of sugar and vanilla. (We both prefer a richer flavour.) They used oatmeal biscuits for the base, instead of Graham Crackers or Bastognekoeken. So, the base was very soft and chewy (and, tasted almost healthy) instead of sweet and crunchy.

Price quality really a big 10. Delicious food. Food tasted very good and the food was more than enough.

Fantastic High Tea experience! What a wonderful experience we had during high tea! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome thanks to the personal sign saying “Welcome Iliandra”, a small but heart-warming touch. The table was beautifully decorated with fresh mint, slices of ginger and lemon, colorful tableware and cheerful flowers, which immediately created a cozy atmosphere. A delicious tomato soup, various sandwiches and various sweet snacks. In short: a perfect place for a high tea with friends or family. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt warm and relaxed. We will definitely come back here!

Upon entering we were escorted straight to our table. We received the menu card and drinks card. After a few minutes we ordered the drinks and food. We had waited 45 minutes for drinks, and waited 1:30 hours for our lunch. The food was just fine, it's a shame about the waiting time. Not a second time for me because of the waiting time... if they had served faster I would definitely have gone back

Dined here with a group of 12 colleagues for lunch. Food was very tasty with good portions. Recommended: Jamaican chicken. Unfortunately the service was not attentive and on top of that it took a very long time for the food to be served. Enjoyed a delicious lunch at Lot&Daan. The restaurant is easy to find within walking distance of Blaak station. What a nice place in the city! A warm, cheerful lady explained the menu full of tasty (lunch) dishes. Two beautiful plates were placed on the table after fifteen minutes and it was delicious. Good taste, not too spicy and good quality. For dessert the cheesecake, highly recommended! Once again a very successful lunch via Social Deal. If I am ever in Rotterdam again, I will definitely have lunch at Lot&Daan again.

We received a super friendly welcome and the employees helped us neatly and politely throughout the afternoon. Everyone was equally nice. From the phone call for the reservation to the moment we left: pure friendliness. The food was delicious; everything we ate was fresh and of top quality. We will definitely come back!

It is a super cozy beautiful restaurant, where you can have a really delicious lunch. You will receive a very warm welcome and the staff is super friendly and helpful. You can eat and drink very well there and it is well located in Rotterdam. We will definitely go here more often! Highly recommended!!

Tasty food, good flavors, fresh ingredients. The hibiscus lemonade was delicious. Nicely decorated. I personally find the room a bit noisy, which makes it difficult to pay attention to the conversation.

Nice location, but difficult to reach by car. Food was very tasty, service was slow. It had nothing to do with the waitress, but more that there was only one for the (quite) large case. Nicely priced
