In any case, 5 stars because it is simply delicious. Sometimes unexpectedly closed and then there are tears.

Best rotis in town. Vegan and vegetarian option.

It might be useful to put this on your website if you're on vacation or closed. We've driven past it twice. Once, it was on vacation (hope you enjoyed it), and the second time, they were still closed even though you're open online. The last time I ate there, it was really great! But this really needs to change.

Homey atmosphere and friendly staff, roti biggie was more than enough! Prices have gone up, but that's happened everywhere after the pandemic. If the wait times go down, 5 stars.

Simple eatery, but good food. If ambiance is not that important, but homeliness is, then this is fine!

It is one of the few things on Klarendal that has not changed. Nostalgic and now super hip design. Just as delicious food as ever. Highly recommended from cult level. Then the good experience is topped off by a very cheerful and enthusiastic lady working in the service. Go taste and experience. I loved it tonight, youth sentiment, homesickness, for beautiful and pleasant, happy times at Klarendal. I'm a fan❤️🇸🇷

We were introduced to Surinamese/Indian cuisine here and will definitely return. The place has an authentic atmosphere. Food is tasty, get your own drinks from the refrigerator :). Combining the menu on the table with the menu on the wall is useful to understand exactly what you are ordering.

oud familie bedrijf zit daar al vanaf 1977. interieur is ook zeer gedateerd maar het eten is authentiek lekker. kom hier sl vanaf kleins af aan. nu kom ik met mn kleinkinderen

it is a Surinamese Hindustani family business, which means they are closed when there is something to celebrate. but on the other hand, the food is top notch and always enjoyable

what a mockery, after I had made a choice from one of the 13 dishes of noodles/rice, I was told that they don't have Moksi Meti, okay then just have a Sate Bami, sir, we don't have any Bami, just use rice, we have no rice. They then offer a loose Satay, no, I want a meal, then I am asked if I want a Roti, but that is not my preference. The plate of Roti is then served without Roti. When the plate is 80% finished, I am asked if I want a Roti that he has forgotten and he would add some extra meat. I still have to get meat now. Just skip this place, there are better ones nearby.

Excellent food. We had to wait a bit as there seemed to have been a mixup but it was worth the wait. It's a simple eatery, nothing fancy. Lots of people in and out for collection and limited seating. UK debit cards don't work there as in many other places in the Netherlands, so make sure to have cash. A little background music would've lifted the atmosphere considerably.

Ordered food by phone yesterday. 3 nasi chicken and 3 noodles moksi. They indicated that it would be ready in 45 minutes. When I got there I had to wait another 45 minutes. But when we arrived home, the noodles had already soured. Very disappointing. Just don't use food from the day before. Luckily we didn't eat it. You can really make people SICK with this. I will NEVER come back here again.

Authentic Surinamese in a pseudo-juppie working-class neighborhood.

I recently ate a medium roti here. It was very little and really pricey for a roti. I believe it was more than 15 euros, so you can expect something more than two pieces of potato and no egg, right? The roti itself was tasty, but I think it is shameful to sell such a plate for these ridiculous prices. Even in big cities like Amsterdam and Utrecht you get more roti for your money, so it has nothing to do with the city... too bad. If you want to eat a lot and pay a normal price for roti, it is better to go somewhere else. The case is otherwise beautiful.

Today we had a delicious meal here with 16 people. From roti to moksi, everything was delicious! Excellent quantities for an even better price... we will definitely come back here! Very tasty food again!!! And we will be back again!!

Ordered roti, chicken was not tender, also ordered nasi satay, the rice did not look appetizing at all, the satay did not look appetizing either, it was not very tasty either

Ordered food here by phone. Top service. Portions were also very generous. I consider myself a big eater and this was more than enough. Taste was great. Highly recommended.

Chicken was a little too little and there was quite a lot of fat on it. Furthermore, roti chicken was tasty. Bara was not very tasty. A bit greasy.

Very tasty meal. Ordered large roti lamb and two small chicken fillets. The price for a large portion is €20, but it is a lot. I eat that for two days. Small portions €10. Ordered by phone, was ready when we walked in. This restaurant is highly recommended. Service was friendly. People were also eating in the restaurant. Review 6 months later: after having delicious food again, I feel the need to comment on an earlier review. The portions have now been adjusted and become smaller. Amount is slightly lower (approx. 3%). But paying almost €30 for 1 large and 1 small, which gives you exactly one meal, is too expensive in my opinion. Make it yourself now (can be made in 30 minutes) for less than €10 for two people.

Ordered well in advance to pick up. Still finished more than 20 minutes late and a dish we ordered was no longer available.

Fijne plek, vertel wat je lekker lijkt en een paar minuten later komt het vers op je bord. Aardige en relaxte sfeer.

Mijn vaste stek waar ik Surinaams afhaal of te plaatse eet. Ik kom oorspronkelijk uit Amsterdam waar er op elke hoek een Surinamer is. Maar echt ben blij dat ik in Arnhem ben ga wonen met Makan Swietie op geen 50 meter afstand. Echt alles is daar heerlijk! Ook elders is besteld maar nee dit is echt de beste Surinamer waar ik heb gegeten! Dikke vijf sterren 🖤💪

Simpelweg fantastisch! Hier gaan wij zeker vaak eten of afhalen! Nogmaals super bedankt namens de Carglass Servicemonteur :)

Pssst niet verder vertellen, maar Makan swietie is helemaal geweldig! Echt een aanrader. Wij waren hongerig en wat hebben we gesmikkeld. Roti kip, pom, kip sate, tempeh en pitsel een fernandes erbij en als dessert een lollipop ijsje. Alles was even lekker en wat een gezelligheid. Het huiskameridee maakte het helemaal af: dit moet je gewoon een keer gaan doen. We hebben er in ieder geval van genoten, dank je wel Makan Swietie en tot de volgende keer! En toen kwam die volgende keer, oftewel een week later. Dat was toch wel een surprise, het eten was niet zoals de vorige keer. Er is dus geen constante kennelijk. Moet je echt wat aan doen hoor makan Swietie, want we weten dat je het kan. Draad oppakken en dan komen we nog een keertje proeven!

Zowel de kwaliteit, service én de vibe die er bij Makan sweetie hangt is uniek. Mensen die hier openbaar steen en been klagen over 'langer wachten' moeten voortaan naar de Mac drive gaan ;) 10/10 🔥

Geweldig lekker eten maar houdt rekening met (veel!) langere wachttijden dan het personeel aangeeft. Neem bij voorkeur een boek mee als je je eten gaat halen.

Het ruikt al lekker als je binnenkomt. Lekkere roti lam en rijst met saté gegeten. Top eten en gezellig tussen alle waxinelichtjes. Was lang geleden dat we bij makan swietie hadden gegeten. Moeten we vaker doen.

Raymond maakt de beste roti en pom! Jammer dat de openingstijden wat beperkter zijn geworden terwijl er juist zoveel vraag is.

Beetje tegenvaller na de laatste keer. Beperkte porties en vooral erg jammer; sperziebonen ipv kouseband.

Telefonisch besteld. Kregen ongevraagd automatisch het grote gerecht. Erg aan de prijs en niet zo smaakvol als vroeger. Geen zuur bij de vega variant. En geen sambal. Echt te duur hoor. In Amstelveen betaal ik hier €8,50 voor. We komen niet meer terug.

Shocked how much the prices have gone up. On the website still the old prices, it was +€3 on a Roti kipfilet speciaal. Times 3 it makes €9 extra on my order. Take out, we had to wait a considerable amount of time longer than the lady said when I ordered by phone. And when we came home it turned out she gave us normal roti instead of special, which we paid for. But as we have no time to return to the restaurant to get it fixed due to obligations the would make a note for when we come again... So, don't get me wrong: the food is still great! But I am not so happy with the place as I was before due to the risen prices, the long wait and the mistake made. I will go back though, at least to get the money difference of above mentioned dishes. But not sure if I'll stay on as a customer.

Lekker eten, opgehaald, en 100 meter verderop buiten op terras met een drankje van café Libertas genuttigd. Goeie combi.

Erg lekker gegeten. Porties waren goed, prijs was goed, smaak was goed. Het was alleen niet heel warm meer. Wel stond het al klaar toen ik het af kwam halen, wat erg fijn was! Geen last gehad van wachttijden dus.

Is niet meer wat het geweest is qua wachttijden. Je besteld iets. Duurt een kwartier zeggen ze vervolgens zit je hier 1.5 uur. jammer van deze zaak. Wel complimenten aan de kok. De roti was heerlijk en zacht. Mijn vrouw genoot van de saoto soep. Mogelijk wat meer mensen in de keuken en het gaat naar 5 sterren.
