We had a wonderful meal in a cozy, atmospheric restaurant with excellent service. It's a shame it was our last visit due to closure!

How a plant-based restaurant can surprise - a dish with 5 different tomato varieties and preparations, all with a fantastic taste sensation. You go out for these kinds of experiences. Something other than 13 in a dozen.

Everything was great. It's a shame that this week is the last week they are open. It will be a great loss for Haarlem, for the Netherlands. We secretly hope for a restart

Really loved the food of Mama Gaia! I have been wanting to go for years, and finally booked a reservation as it's about to close down. I wasn't disappointed: very creative dishes with a beautiful presentation. My partner (very fond of meat) liked it, although a lot of the dishes had fresh/sour flavours which are not his favourite. We had a bit of a weird experience with one of the servers (we wanted to ask about an ingredient, but she kept repeating the same, and when I tried to ask it in Dutch, she said "I don't speak Dutch and left). The other two were lovely! They were very welcoming, and althoug I'm not someone that feels comfortable in high-end restaurants, I instantly felt welcome and relaxed. The food was well explained as well, and we could ask questions when we had them (I love discovering new food-related things). I had matching wines with the courses, and even as a complete wine-noob I enjoyed the stories with each wine. The place is very light, and has a modern look. It's not what I expected before going, but I guess it depends on the taste. It feels very spatious, and you sit away far enough from other guests to speak without being desturbed by other tables. I wish I could say I'd visit again, but I know they will be closed when I get my next opportunity to go. So owners of Mama Gaia: Please open a new restaurant and put me on the short-list for the opening when you do!

Surprising dishes, great service & a pleasant evening!

What a joy to eat plant-based food at Mama Gaia. Everything is perfect: the atmosphere, the people, the interior, and especially, of course, the creative food on your plate. It's such a shame this restaurant has to close its doors.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 3-course surprise menu! Super original and delicious preparations and beautifully presented too. Very friendly service is also assured at this top restaurant!

I was really looking forward to the dinner but was very disappointed. Certain dishes were tasty (like the mashed potatoes with leek I would give 3.5 stars) but others were fair or even not so. I thought the vinegar was too much and I don't know if my expectations were perhaps too high, but I really didn't think so. The staff was very friendly, the food looked nice and I think the whole idea was great.

Wow! Without exaggeration, this will be the meal I never forget. Every dish was delicious and artistically presented. We tried to book a return visit, but the restaurant was booked for the remaining days of our stay. Go enjoy before it is too late.

Always good food and we combined it with a lecture by Dr. Valentine about wfpb food. Still learned new things.

Surprisingly and completely 'plant-based'!

We had the 5 course menu for dinner, the dishes were pretty and creative, though we found the portions a bit small and some of the dishes didn’t have as much flavour as we would have hoped for.

Very surprising again! Delicious food, beautiful dishes! The music can be turned off or turned down. Why always add music in places where there is already a lot of noise and you want to be able to have a conversation? Recommended for lovers of cruelty-free food.

A very cozy restaurant worthy of a Michelin star. All dishes were delicious, but dessert exceeded all expectations! I recommend.

For my wife, eating out is always limited because the vegetarian imagination in normal restaurants is very limited. It is often a stuffed mushroom or a meal salad. Last night we had a 4-course menu with a 4-course komboucha assortment. This was a more than pleasant taste sensation. You don't choose, the chef cooks and it's what you make. But don't worry, it's really tasty. They cook with passion. Not large portions, but you will go home feeling satisfied and satisfied. The atmosphere and service for me 1 star less because I personally find it a 'thing' if I am addressed directly in English and as if that is the most normal thing in the world. You have to love the industrial character, it's a bit cold for me, but my wife likes it. But despite this, we will definitely come back here.

The concept of Mama Gaia really appeals to us. The food was a surprise and every dish a complete taste explosion! What a party on your plate, eye-catching and very tasty! It was well explained what dish you had on your plate and what ingredients were used. Good service, friendly and helpful. Delicious wines were served! The atmosphere is friendly, not tense, relaxed and enjoyable, that is certainly what Mama Gaia does! We come back!

Very pleasant dinner with a very warm welcome from Maryse and her husband. The dishes are very well executed, sophisticated and varied. I already knew that, but this confirms that we can do high-level vegan! In addition, the quality/price ratio (especially for the Netherlands) is simply unbeatable! Go for it! Book now! A great and unexpected discovery in Haarlem (only 15 min by train from Amsterdam)! A plant based sustainable and very creative restaurant with a tasting menu (3,4 or 5 course) that changes based on season ingredients (also weekly) and not only for vegan people! We had the 4 and 5 courses menu, and we loved everything, until the dessert, so delicious and do creamy! Beautiful interiors and so professional and helpful staff! Absolutely recommended! ✨☺️

Mama Gaia never disappoints! Spoiled ourselves with a 5 course dinner and enjoyed every bite. Matching wines were also top notch, each with a special story enthusiastically told by the young sommelier.

what a very nice discovery this case! everything comes together: the beautiful interior with a sustainable character, water served from a Dopper (the founder of Dopper is the owner of the restaurant), the lovely staff who really know everything. We thought the dishes were super tasty and each course was surprising. What I also think is a huge plus is the wide range of non-alcoholic drinks. wines, beers, mocktails and even a kombucha pairing with food. the alcohol offering was just as good: my friend was only served tasty and well-matched wines with the food. You don't come here for a quick bite, but you come here for an evening of dining and enjoyment. recommended!

Exceptionally good. Everything completely plant-based. Although I am not a vegetarian myself, I did not miss the meat at all. The chef's 5-course dinner was delicious, each course unique and perfectly seasoned. We stuck to 2 (very tasty) glasses of wine, but if you want they offer a wine pairing with each course. The service is nice and helpful and allows you to enjoy your evening in peace. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and, as its name suggests, an earthy and natural feel. We will definitely come back here.

Fantastically good and original food. Everything is plant-based. It was our 3rd time and each time we are pleasantly surprised at how delicious and special it is. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service personal.

Great place, awesome food, delicious wine, excellent service and environment. I’d recommend it 100% and will definitely return soon and many times. Maximiliano was one of our waiters and he was very friendly. The others were also great and explained in detail everything they brought to us. We were the last table and they kindly waited until we finished all our food.

What bothers us is that coats are not simply hanging in the cloakroom, but are placed over the backs of chairs and on the sofas. You go out for a nice evening, a 5-course meal, and you spend the entire evening looking at coats, backpacks, etc. That gives you the feeling that you are sitting in a cafe for a quick bite.

It just was fantastic, a 5 course menu, most of our guests were not vegan, but everybody was more than satisfied and suprised! Really Haute cuisine! In Dutch the eye eats along.... Very nice service, individual wishes were welcome. Good quality wine and all other beverages are good too.

Very attractive restaurant, good food, friendly service, but some employees could be a little more attentive. Try to keep a close eye on your guests, so we don't have to light up five times ;) Tip: might it be an idea to put a cushion on the chairs? The chairs are a bit low compared to the table. You feel just a little bit more comfortable. Furthermore, it was very atmospheric and delicious food. Definitely come back!

Highly recommended to discover what is possible in a plant-based kitchen in a warm atmosphere and beautiful space. Never before had the taste of an oyster in my mouth because of a plant.

I was asked to leave some feedback after our visit: We reserved a spot at the bar, a cozy bar on paper, but it still felt like a school auditorium. When we got our drinks and (bar) food, we didn’t get any napkins, small skewers or coasters. The food and drinks itself tasted great, though, apart from the bitterballen. I’m planning to come back here for lunch, on the terrace in the sun. Hopefully the service will then be better.

Great place with lot of thought for the environment. Vegan food is very original. Lots of different flavours and learnt some new vegetables as well. gluten free is well accommodated. Wine goes very well with the food.

It's quite exciting to go to a restaurant that only serves plant-based dishes. But that trepidation quickly fell away from us. The location is great, the decor is very nice, very attentive service, but above all the food is extremely tasty. The way of presentation, the flavors, the smell and the combination with excellent wines. We can't stop talking about it. We'll be back soon for more surprises.

I visited the restaurant with perhaps too high expectations, due to all the good reviews. The five course menu was okay. Still, I missed surprising combinations and refined flavors that you can also get with plant-based food. Some dishes had a smoky taste, some dishes were a bit bland/flat. The matching wines were well chosen, but unfortunately the knowledge of the serving staff was not ready. All in all, it remains a one-off visit.

It was very good, original dishes. Something different again. Favorite dish was dessert. The ice cream, made from tonka beans, was particularly tasty and I would order it again. Staff was friendly, but sometimes we were having a conversation and were abruptly interrupted so that the empty plates could be taken away. Which can happen, but it happened a little too often while there was enough room to clear this off.

Very good food in a nice atmosphere. We had a large table but the perfect acoustics made it easy to have a conversation in a quiet tone (this sounds like we are 60+ but we are in our 30s ;)).

The food was delicious, tasty and beautifully presented. It's a pity that the explanation of the dish is in (poor) English. Although we speak good English, not everything was easy to understand. It was fairly empty when we arrived. The bright lighting makes the room feel a little less cozy.

The food was tasty and beautifully presented, the dessert was a bit rich as the last dish. Upon inquiry it turned out that the five-course menu included a dish with mushrooms. This would also have been nice with the four-course menu. I missed some bite like tofu, tempeh or beans. The open kitchen is nice, but my clothes and hair smelled like fries when I got home. A wine arrangement for €33 is on the high side for 4 glasses (8.25 per glass). Especially because they were not really very full.

Atmospheric, hip-looking restaurant with very friendly service who explains each dish to the table. You can choose from a 3, 4 or 5 course surprise menu, which is completely plant-based, organic and seasonal. Every dish was delicious and looked beautiful.

Had a delicious meal at Mama Gaia. Even though it was only a Tuesday evening, the attractive restaurant was pleasantly full. Excellent service and a wide selection of non-alcoholic beers. The food was sublime, even tastier than most non-vegan alternatives. Recommended!

Delicious 5 course menu. Mama Gaia is an asset to Haarlem. Nice interior, somewhat industrial location right on the track when you see the trains passing by in the evening. We are not vegetarian but wanted to try Mama Gaia's plant based concept and it was very tasty. A few dishes could be a little better and of course an inveterate meat eater might miss something, but above all the whole of the parts was a nice evening out. The dishes are completely independent and no substitute for meat has been devised or needed anywhere. Well done. Delicious Gin Tonic beforehand, all five wines were very good and perfectly chosen to match the dishes and the service was super friendly. Definitely recommended to try,

Heerlijk eten, ongelooflijk hoe dit mogelijk is zonder dierlijke ingrediënten te gebruiken! De ruimte is erg sfeervol ingericht. Goede service, alleen was een van de serveerster (Frans van origine) wat minder goed te verstaan in het Engels bij de uitleg van de maaltijden.

Fantastisch eten!!! Je moet hier heen. Echt wat een verademing dat je niet hoeft te letten op veganistische gerechten want ALLES is plantaardig. I love it. Ik kom sws snel terug!!

Enig minpuntje was de bediening door een Engelssprekende dame, waardoor we niet wisten wat op ons bord lag. Deze dame was verder uiterst vriendelijk.

Heerlijk genoten van een luxe kerstmenu! We komen zeker terug!

Mooi gebouw, sfeervol ingericht. Vriendelijk ontvangst, bediening was de hele avond zeer attent, had aandacht voor alles. 4 gangen diner was geweldig, zeer smaakvol en heerlijk van smaak. Wijn arr was goed, de witte Rioja was super. Wij komen zeker weten graag terug.

Een uitstekende kerstlunch gehad met mijn team. Er werd overal in meegedacht aan de voorkant en tijdens het etentje was ook alles perfect verzorgd. De sfeer was enorm gezellig en we hebben heerlijk gegeten. Voor mijn collega's met allergieën (en geloof mij, dat waren er wel wat), was het ook ontzettend fijn om gewoon met iedereen mee te eten en niet iets anders te hoeven nuttigen dan de rest. Dit maakte het voor iedereen heel inclusief. Ontzettend bedankt voor alles!

Eindelijk een plek in Haarlem waar je op hoog niveau vegetarisch/veganistisch kunt eten. Hier ga je niet met honger weg. De smaken zijn verrassend en je kunt een fles wijn voor een redelijke prijs erbij nemen. Vriendelijke bediening. Wat wil een mens nog meer.

Wij hadden wederom een fantastische eetervaring bij Mama Gaia. Van begin tot eind was mijn bezoek niets minder dan geweldig! Allereerst wil ik de gezellig en uitnodigende sfeer van Mama Gaia benadrukken. De gezellige ambiance, gecombineerd met smaakvolle decoratie, zette direct de toon voor een gedenkwaardige avond. Dan het hoogtepunt van de avond: het eten. Elk gerecht was een culinair meesterwerk. Het menu biedt een fantastische variëteit aan smaakvolle opties, en ik waardeerde de inzet voor verse, lokaal geproduceerde ingrediënten. Het is duidelijk dat de koks bij Mama Gaia gepassioneerd zijn over hun vak, aangezien elk gerecht niet alleen prachtig werd gepresenteerd, maar ook barstte van voortreffelijke smaak. Het personeel was attent, vriendelijk en goed op de hoogte van het menu. Ik wil Mama Gaia ook complimenteren met jullie inzet voor duurzaamheid en een bewuste eetervaring. Het is verfrissend om een restaurant te vinden dat niet alleen de nadruk legt op smaak, maar ook waarde hecht aan ethische en milieuvriendelijke praktijken. Samengevat was ons bezoek aan Mama Gaia wederom een culinaire reis die mijn verwachtingen overtrof. Dank jullie wel voor het bieden van een uitzonderlijke eetervaring in Haarlem. Wij zullen bij het volgende menu ongetwijfeld terugkomen en jullie restaurant aanraden aan vrienden en familie!

We hadden het vijfgangenmenu gekozen. Alle gangen waren heerlijk en prachtig geserveerd. Wij hebben genoten van de verschillende smaken in elk gerecht. Gezellige en attente bediening in een sfeervolle omgeving. Zeker een goede prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Hier kun je wel voor een kerstdiner naar toe.

Met veel zorgvuldigheid en aandacht worden prachtige Vegan gerechten bereid en geserveerd. Wij hebben zeldzaam goed genoten van de smaaksensaties en oogstrelende presentaties van de gerechten. Prima bediening en een heel mooie prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Mooi verbouwd pand. Door het prachtige weer konden wij buiten eten. Echt een feest om hier te mogen eten.
