The ambiance felt cold and impersonal, more sterile than cozy. Noise levels were uncomfortably high, making conversation difficult. We left feeling more stressed than satisfied.

Food was very tasty and service was good. Matching wines were tasty. The non-alcoholic arrangement was also good.

Disappointing Experience Despite the elegant setting, the service was slow and inattentive. Our main course arrived lukewarm and lacked seasoning.

The flavors were underwhelming and lacked seasoning. Everything looked nice on the plate but tasted bland. A classic case of style over substance.

The restaurant is located in a historic building. The interior has been chosen with great care and exudes an intimate atmosphere. The dishes were each a taste explosion, very refined and deliciously prepared. The service is attentive and accessible. We felt very welcome and will definitely come back.

I've been to De Zeeuw a few times before and loved it, but this visit was a letdown. The service was friendly, but the dishes we ordered were just bland and uninspired.

We were really looking forward to trying De Zeeuw, but unfortunately, the food was just okay and the service was pretty slow. Definitely didn't live up to the hype for us.

Delicious, high quality food, well prepared and beautifully served. Beautiful wines, some wine pairings were astonishingly good. Very attentive staff: table water always topped up on time, napkin folded when returning from the toilet. I regularly dine alone and like to write. At De Zeeuw I was first asked 'May I disturb'. Very sweet. In short: high level, worth repeating, highly recommended.

I have had a chance to dine in de Zeeuw and was looking forward to the culinary experience. I found the sharp piece of oyster shell in between my teeth that I was about to swallow. Call the waiting staff who straight away took this to the chef. She apologies when she came back and ask me what I would like as an offer. I was close to the end of my 7 course dinner and I could not possible eat more or drink more. Then came another waitress who has identified herself to us as a wife of the chef- and started to accuse me that she sees me not being satisfied and actually aggravated the whole situation being very aggressive with her tone of the voice and make me feel guilty that I do not want anything. I felt that finding the shell in my food was my fault somehow. I ask her to propose something else- and she gracefully take the 10 euro from our nearly 500 euro bill. How generous was this versus me being almost swallowing the sharp piece of shell that could damage some part of my digestive system. This was far from being sympathetic and put a strain on the whole culinary experience. My fellow dinners were terrified. I have cancelled future dinner with them. If the Zeeuw is aspiring to get a michelin star they should work on the customer service more or the lady should be sent to the training course. She had an attitude. Having a few restaurants in London and also being a part of catering staff I would never dare to behave this way and especially make the customer feels guilty. Would she have behaved in any other way should I and my dinners were Dutch? I wonder ..... the co-owner lady replied making up some stories - are they planning to apply for a Michelin star ???? She must be trained in a customer care and relations as this is an integral part of fine dining. She is undermining the food preparation and the whole experience. This is not the only one review about her attitude.

We had an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food is absolutely amazing. It’s inventive and modern. Banging flavors, combined with spot-on wine pairing, you can’t go wrong here. Truly an evening for the books.

Had dinner with a group at De Zeeuw. Beautiful experience. Delicious food and beautifully served. Very sweet, customer-friendly people who work there. Do your utmost to make it a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the atmosphere for the entire restaurant was ruined by an individual who wanted to impress his date. Want to eat luxuriously but don't want to pay with a poor excuse. McDonald's budget but want to eat in class and style. And riding away on your scooter on the back of your date 😂. Very sad, especially for the owner and his wife who are doing their utmost. Nevertheless, a very nice experience and I hope you continue. See you soon.

What a wonderful evening we had with you! Tasty and original dishes with seasonal products in a combination that was surprising. Friendly service, detailed explanation of the dishes and accompanying wines. We enjoyed it!

Usually you have 1 or 2 dishes where you think this is really tasty, we only had this with the appetizer and dessert, in my opinion not enough to justify the price. In addition, the passage was very long, especially at the end, and we were really waiting for the next course. The service is very friendly but without a personal touch or passionate story about the wine.

We had a delicious meal in a very nice atmosphere. The dishes were special and of a very high standard; the morel and the skrei in particular were highlights for us, but actually every dish was perfect in its own way. And the drinks in the 0.0% package, well explained by the very friendly staff, completed the evening. We will definitely come back!

This was my second time at De Zeeuw, and let me be very clear: the ambiance and Janine's hostess are fantastic. She adds a personal touch and has excellent wine knowledge and pairing. Still, apart from the pigeon, I didn't find the dishes special. I almost thought that was a shame, especially because you spent almost €200 per person, including wine. As a result, the price-quality ratio did not feel completely balanced. I was really looking forward to going there again, but I doubt I would do so again now.

It's a party every time (3rd time)! Such surprising dishes! Delicious flavors and super good wine. Janine is super attentive and remembers everything:-) And her husband is down to earth, hard working and always comes to the table. Very nice!

We were here for Christmas. Nice start with excellent reception and sufficient attention. Beautiful place, attractive decor. However, as the evening progressed, with the restaurant full, the staff seemed to be overworked. The personal attention became less and the wait longer. Empty plates were left on the table for too long. It distracted our party and even became the topic of conversation at the table. That was a shame. At the end of the evening, with fewer tables, you could see the staff relaxing again. It improved the atmosphere. The dishes tasted great. That was well taken care of and in perfect order. An extra pair of hands at the service (or one fewer table) could have made this evening turn out differently during the peak phase.

With the last shift of 2024 we finally had dinner at De Zeeuw at their 'new' location. Nice decor. The food was as usual: nice courses in terms of portions, layout and taste. Venison, fried duck liver and winter truffle on one plate is a pure treat. Crispy sweetbreads and redfish no less. The wines matched perfectly and the service was very nice.

I usually do not post reviews, but our Christmas dinner experience deserves one. Me and my partner enjoy fine dining and have visited a quite a few restaurants, so this time our experience was very underwhelming. The place, atmosphere and food were nice but for a 6 course dinner we spent more than 4,5h. It was more than obvious that they were understaffed, the two ladies serving did their best but there was almost no service. For a dinner which costs around 400 EUR you are having a bit higher expectations. Also paying 13-14eur for “water service” when we barely got any water through the evening is outrageous. We would have happily accepted to cancel our reservation if they have called us in advance and told us they are extremely understaffed, and enjoyed our Christmas dinner at home. I hope it is better organized outside holiday season.

Incredibly beautiful place and a very nice setting for a quiet meal for two or with a small group. Hostesses in the service are very sharp and well informed when it comes to the wines in combination with. The different corridors. Naturally, the food was fantastic and my partner's gluten allergy was carefully taken into account. We will definitely come back here.

Had dinner last Friday. Great from arrival to delivery, the place breathes even when it is full, an intimate atmosphere where the other guests present do not cause any noise at the table. The chosen 6-course menu including wine pairing was beautifully balanced and prepared with great care by the chef and his brigade. The restaurant has a unique, warm atmosphere due to its personal interior, with an impressive work of art of a lobster as an eye-catcher. 🦞 The chef works with seasonal products, many from his own garden, and brings these pure flavors to your table in a surprising way. 🥕🍋 The dishes are not only pure and tasty, but also beautifully balanced. It is truly an experience to dine here, with the hostess who passionately talks about the extensive non-alcoholic range 🍹 and the chef who even comes to the table to connect. The starter with gnocchi, wonderfully soft and perfectly balanced with fresh basil, juicy lobster 🦞 and a tasty pistou. I had had De Zeeuw on my radar ever since we were planning our trip to Haarlem. Luckily we were able to reserve a table for Wednesday. There was a great offer: aperitif, amuse, 5 courses including wine accompaniment, water and coffee - for €150 per person. You really can't complain! We received a very friendly welcome and had a nice table in the really stylish restaurant. The two ladies in service were very friendly and explained the food and wines excellently 👌 The menu was an excerpt from the menu. We had: - Mussels with kombu - Tobinambur & white truffles - Beetroot & Charcoal Oil - Duck with parsley root - Filou dough with chocolate & pumpkin Of course everything is more complex than what is written here The food was sensational! Our favorite was actually the beetroot If we come to Haarlem again, a visit is of course a must. Ps: unfortunately the pictures are in the wrong order.

Had an absolutely brilliant night at De Zeeuw!! From the moment we got there the staff were attentive and super warming all night. The food was delicious, there were levels of complexity for every course but matched with a simplicity in the delivery. Honestly one of the best restaurants in Haarlem. Delicious food and real creativity when it comes to vegetarian dishes - real explosion of flavour! Food is great. Some surprising dishes. Co-owner lady who takes orders and waits tables has an attitude. We thought it took too long between dishes as after 2.5 hours we were had just finished dish 3/6 (so did the table next to us, who overheard our conversation) so we asked for less time going forward. She basically said we were wrong and the time between dishes was just fine. They were faster after that. Much to improve in terms of customer experience.

A few times a year we go out to eat with dear friends and last Saturday we visited restaurant De Zeeuw for the second time. The first time in their building on Nassaustraat and now in their new atmospheric and stylish restaurant on Nassaulaan. We enjoyed a divine 7-course dinner with delicious wines. In addition, a special mention regarding the service, because it is also of a very high standard. Congratulations for what you have achieved in the heart of Haarlem! This culinary journey will remain with us for a long time and you will certainly see us again.

What a wonderful experience hosted by friendly staff and an incredibly talented chef who takes the time to serve and explain some of his creations. This was booked as an early birthday surprise for my fiancé and it certainly topped off our holiday. The food was simply out of this world from start to finish. Dietary issues were taken into account too which was very much appreciated. The ginger cocktail was really fiery, loved it. My fiancé had a couple of glasses of wine and said they were good. All in all a fantastic evening. We were there approximately 4 hours and it flew by. In addition to the food the restaurant is nicely decorated with every detail well thought out. Highly recommend and when we return to Haarlem we will book again. Thank you to everyone for making it such a great experience.

We are known at De Zeeuw at the previous (small) location. But what a surprise at Nassaulaan 1. The interior is very attractive and makes you feel welcome. As before, we went for the all-in menu. What fun this is! Sit back and let everything come to you. We were once again surprised by the beautiful dishes, composed with the incredibly beautiful wines. The photos are not star level, but the food definitely was!

The ambience is very nice. The service is very friendly. The food was far too expensive, we only got small appetizers that you could choose from a multi-course menu, but there was no other menu. Nobody can get enough for almost 100 euros. If you book via cell phone you have to transfer 100.00 euros directly.

After 3 years we were back in Haarlem for a weekend and a dinner at De Zeeuw was not to be missed. We were pleasantly surprised to see that they have moved to a new, larger and even more stylish location. Big compliment for all their hard work. The team is now larger, but the service is still as warm, personal and professional. The kitchen produces the most beautiful dishes in terms of taste and presentation. In short, Jeroen, Janine and their team show how to pamper your guests at the highest level! We would love to come back in 3 years ;)

Last night my husband and I had dinner at De Zeeuw with 2 friends. Made a deposit of 100 euros which I completely understand with the no-shows these days. On Saturday afternoon our friends canceled due to illness. My husband and I decided to go anyway and we changed the reservation from 4 to 2 people. The changed reservation has been confirmed by De Zeeuw. We were very indignant that De Zeeuw decided to charge our friends a 50 euro no-show fee at the end of the evening (on top of the already hefty bill of 400 euros for 2 people), even though this was not included in the amended reservation. That definitely detracted from the evening for us. Not because of the money, but certainly because of the lack of understanding.

I don’t really understand why this gets great reviews. We negotiated a 3-course dinner over the phone because we don’t like long 6-7 course dinners. Our dinner still took 3 hours and the portions were literally 3 bites per dish. It cost €200 and my boyfriend was still hungry so I made him dinner when we got home. The wines by the glass were very inelegant.

I am often judged as too critical when it comes to food and quality of ingredients. I couldn't get a pin in here. What an absolute work of art was presented stage after stage. Service relaxed, pairing wines perfect. The ambiance of the small space is nice. Hope this vibe remains at the new location. Great class. Ripe for at least 1 star.

Perhaps the best that Haarlem currently has to offer. Cozy atmosphere, not too many tables so that everyone gets enough attention. The dishes are truly fantastic, delicious in taste. Each one is a pleasure for the eyes and the mouth. Pleasant and well-informed hostess. We have not lacked anything. The bubbles beforehand, the amuse, the lobster bitterballs, the wine, the friandises with the coffee... all delicious. The review in the Haarlems Dagblad does not do them justice, this is not a 9.5 but a 10!

Heerlijke avond gehad bij De Zeeuw. Vooraf borrelen op “Zeeuw niveau” met kaviaar, bitterbal van kreeft en Zeeuwse oesters. Daarna 7 gangen waar elk gerecht heel goed uitgebalanceerd was en de opmaak meer dan mooi! Bijpassende wijnen en wat vooral heel bijzonder was dat voor mij een aantal alcohol vrije begeleidende cocktails werden gemaakt, deze waren doordacht met passie en vakmanschap en infusies vanuit de keuken van Jeroen met de dranken kennis van Janine. Dank voor de mooie avond!

Outstanding restaurant. Together with Olivijn & ratatouille probably the best fine dining choice in Haarlem. No nonsense setting, but dishes coming out of the kitchen easily compare with 1 or 2 star michelin places. Price level for quality is pretty awesome, especially if you subscribe to their email letter and take the deals that come by every now and then. Still have sweet memories to the dish I had years ago with this crazy original hollandaise sauce with orange flavour:)

De Zeeuw is een van onze lievelingsrestaurants in Haarlem. Het eten is altijd lekker en verrassend. Jeanine heeft ons met haar uitstekende alcoholvrije drankjes geleerd hoe subliem deze bij de maaltijden van Jeroen passen. Het restaurant is knus en vertrouwd. Wij komen snel weer langs!

Hoewel er heel veel restaurants in Haarlem zijn, zijn er maar een paar die de sterren van de hemel koken en daar hoort De Zeeuw zeker bij. Niet alleen de gerechten zijn geweldig lekker en mooi, maar ook de wijnen en last but not least... de persoonlijke aandacht is uitermate vriendelijk. Wij kijken al weer uit naar eind september voor onze zondags lunch.

Super gezellig restaurantje met heerlijke gerechten. Heb hier nu al een paar keer gegeten en elke keer is de kwaliteit van het eten en de wijnen uitstekend en de sfeer zeer goed.
