Mandarin Heemstede in Wijk 00 Heemstede-Centrum

Very nice people. Always friendly waitresses and owner. Always positive about everyday life. They are very helpful and kind. When you step out of the restaurant, you can see the Heemstede town hall. If you then turn right and keep walking, you end up in the center. A very good place to eat. So thumbs up.

Takeout menu. What a disappointment. The first condition for being able to enjoy food is trusting the food. What sad, drab dishes. Even the carrots in the dishes were beige rather than orange. Large chunks of indefinable sinew with fat between pieces of boiled beef. It looks like the cook is on vacation and has filled the freezer with dishes made with everything he had left in the fridge. The dishwasher did defrost it properly, though. Sorry, but you'd be better off closing down than selling this.

We had a wonderful meal at a truly top-notch restaurant. Once you've eaten here, you won't want to go anywhere else.

Good (takeaway) Chinese restaurant

I ordered noodles with babi pangang there. I got bami instead of noodles, and the whole thing tasted awful. But the biggest problem was that eight hours later I got food poisoning. I initially reported this by email to the company, but they didn't respond. You'll never see me again!

I had a lovely meal here by myself. It was very quiet, even though they're usually quite busy...it was the evening of the Winter Olympics opening. A lot of takeout food was available. I appreciated the tranquility and the delicious meal.

The food is inedible and the service is dramatically bad. The owner, in particular, is very abrupt and not customer-friendly at all.

We had another excellent meal at Jack's tonight. The starter, main course, and dessert were, as always, perfectly prepared.

We've been getting Chinese food here for years. But what a disappointment. The food was tasteless. The nasi was sticky. The meat dishes were bland. We threw the food away. This used to be my favorite place to eat. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering from them again.

Got a monthly menu yesterday, I thought something for everyone... It went in the trash, everything tastes the same, babi pangang tough, beef whole pieces hard not cooked, fried banana terrible!! Stiff from the fat... this was once but never again!! 40 euros in the trash

At the last minute we entered Mandarin with a rowing team of 8 hungry men and two women. They arranged a long, cozy table in no time. We requested to share some different dishes with each other, which was quickly arranged. Delicious dishes, quickly on the table and just enough. Highly recommended!

This was the first time I got bami, babi pangang and tjapjoy here. This was also the last time. I completely agree with the previous comments, bland taste and strange smell, sambal not spicy, etc. and quite expensive.

For many years we have been getting our Chinese here to eat at home. Last night we ordered for 115 euros. Hungry we attacked. But what a disappointment. The bami was not as we were used to, sticky, tasteless short strips. The nasi was also tasteless, sticky junk. The meat dishes all tasted the same and like nothing. In short, it was a big disappointment. There was also a strange smell to the bami and nasi which made sure you were done eating quickly. Really a shame because the food was always very good. I was cured immediately and will not order here again.

Had dinner here with family last night, it was delicious and very friendly service.

What a tasteful dishes and nice owner. A very wide range, where everyone can find something to her/his taste.

Ate with three. Only main course with a soft drink each. And 1 coffee. For €30 pp! The 2 dish mix was very mediocre. Gado gado soggy and mainly bean sprouts. My Tipan shrimp was good. Few vegetables though. Not spicy, but requested. Bami from a covered dish from a dollhouse. The few bami was too bare and had very very few ingredients. Nasi goreng also meager in ingredients. This is usually called white rice. Service very friendly.

A surprisingly cozy Chinese restaurant. The restaurant looks cozy and there is a nice atmosphere. Person is friendly and above all the food delicious.

We had takeaway food and that was really disappointing. First the price, on the list for takeaway there are prices for small portions, but that is not mentioned. So if you order a normal (large) portion it is considerably more expensive. Ordered vermicelli as a vegetarian main course but that is no more than a bowl of vermicelli with small pieces of carrot, onion and egg. As a side dish fine but as a main course... worthless. And that for 17 euros.....

Afhaal. We hadden bami speciaal met saté en een loempia. Thuis gekomen was niets warm. Loempia en bami waren gort droog . Waarschijnlijk oude waren even met de magnetron opgepept . Je kan beter een magnetron maaltijd bij de supermarkt halen.

It's not quality Chinese food. We ordered noodles with beef. It wasn't real noodles, looks more like noodles and there was way too much oil.

Seemed like a restaurant like many others. We were pleasantly surprised by the extremely friendly and competent service. Delicious food. Everything was tender and the portions were ample. We were able to choose from smaller portions and combine them ourselves. Definitely recommended, especially because of the reasonable price.

I've been coming here for many years. Always delicious food, such lovely people, and Jack the owner, a friendly and sweet person. In short, highly recommended!!!!

Delicious food, very tender and fresh. We had Tipan tenderloin with spicy ginger sauce and Tja siu with soy ketjap sauce. Truly excellent. The service was also great, he knew what he was talking about. I'm not actually a Chinese eater, but I think this is fantastic and I would love to come back!

Takeaway. Quality and taste very low. The food was bland which you don't expect with Asian food. We barely touched our meal. Noodles were tasteless and rice felt undercooked and hard.

We where with a group of 9 people and the food and service was excellent. I can only recommend this restaurant highly. If you want the dishes to be spicy just ask the staff they will talk to you on what you think it should be and surprise you.

Nice restaurant with original Chinese food.

Not good. Reheated microwave dishes, cloyingly sweet starch sauces and stale, unpleasant and sour flavors. Drove there based on the other reviews, but not again. Even if "stupid Dutch Chinese" is far from good enough.

Roasted duck. I usually eat this at New King on the Zeedijk in Amsterdam. This one is completely different.. a bit chewy and not crispy. Slightly liver-like taste. Suspect that it has been roasted before and is put in the microwave when ordered. And you have to pay extra for rice...I still put it under the grill myself!

Eten afgehaald. Babi pangang, tsa ju en bali kip. Saus was voor alledrie hetzelfde, bami en nasi had een muffe geur en weinig smaak. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Uitgenodigd door iemand die er vaker ging eten. Staat nu bij mij ook goed aangeschreven. Het was een doordeweekse dag, erg rustig. Maar....het eten was heerlijk.

Eten afgehaald hier, prijzen zijn stuk gunstiger dan Chinese restaurants in de buurt (Sam Sing menu: 3 gerechten voor 30,30 euro en veel keuze). Kwaliteit hier en daar wat minder. De nasi smaakte echt niet lekker, net oude zilvervliesrijst. For Nam was niet knapperig, net te kort/niet heet genoeg gebakken. De rest (biefstuk- kipgerecht) wel prima.

Zelden zo een smerige loempia gegeten. Eén was zwart aan de binnenkant,de ander zag er goed uit maar had totaal geen smaak. Direct in de vuilnisbak. Weggegooid geld.

A favorite of mine as it's close by and the food is always amazing. Very family friendly and the staff is professional & fast service. Menu has big selection of items and very price friendly. I always dine in but we've gotten take away a couple of times as well.

Ik heb hier een paar keer besteld en altijd lekker geweest. Ik had iets lekkers besteld en volgens mij heet het laminaat. De kroepoek kreeg ik gratis en was heel lekker! Ik hou van de kleine raam waar de rijst uit kwam. Je voelt de Chinese sfeer. Aanrader!

Fantastisch gegeten, het verrassingsmenu is een regelrechte aanrader.

Gezien de reviews naar Mandarin gegaan (ga normaal naar Jin Lai in Haarlem). Bami met babipangang en foeyonghai en een loempia. Wat een tegenvaller. Babi was op zich prima maar weinig smaak en wat slap vlees. Babipangang hoort toch echt een beetje krokant te zijn. De foeyonghai is de vuilnisbak in gegaan. Wat een vieze dikke tomaatachtige saus. Smaakte niet lekker en rook ook niet lekker. Echt vies. De loempia bestond voor 98% uit taugé. Smaak? Inderdaad taugé. Saai dus. Helaas zal t bij dit eenmalige bezoek blijven.

Heerlijk gegeten zoals vanouds en super vriendelijke bediening

Waar ik vandaan kom, het mooie Groningen, was Chinees in mijn jeugd een synoniem voor snel, eenvoudig, goedkoop, bekend en dus vooral niet verrassend eten. Dat veranderde toen ik bij onze lokale (in de straat!) Chinees Man Ho eens beter naar de kaart keek en gedurfder bestelde, maar vooral ook door de komst van Ni Hao, een exclusief Chinees restaurant. Ni Hao won een prijs waar ik als Gronings journalist over schreef en die later door Mandarin in Heemstede zou worden gewonnen (2009), namelijk: de prijs voor de allerbeste van de 88 beste traditionele Chinese restaurants in Nederland! En wat wilde het toeval? Ik was in Heemstede komen wonen (2001), dus die prijswinnaar die kende ik al en wederom kon ik er gaan eten. We zijn 13 jaar verder, de familie Lau is nog even hartelijk voor gasten, geïnteresseerd vooral, en nog steeds topklasse qua Aziatische keuken. We aten vanavond ossenhaas en Peking Eend, sisling vanaf gloeiend hete platen, en we hebben er van gesmuld. We waren hartstikke laat, maar de familie Lau wilde van excuses niets weten: ‘ We zijn open en blij dat u er bent.’ Het was rustig, slechts een paar tafels waren tijdens deze zeer warme avond (airco werkte erg goed) uitgerukt, maar dat mocht de pret niet drukken. Het was heerlijk en het bedrijf en ook de bedrijfsvoering oogden als altijd zeer verzorgd. Wie gewoon Chinees wil eten, moet naar de Raadhuisstraat in Heemstede. Wie iets bijzonders wil, moet naar de Raadhuisstraat in Heemstede. Daar komen twee richtingen in Chinese restaurants samen, waarbij Alky en ik eenieder aanraden eens buiten het bekende te kiezen: u zult niet teleurgesteld worden!

Foe yong hai afgehaald ... flieders omelet verzopen in tomatensaus .. de kip hebben we niet kunnen ontdekken .. smaak conform het uiterlijk , goor ... regelrecht de container in ...
