It was just okay when I ate it 8 years ago, but the line got longer, so I thought, "Oh, it must have gotten tastier!" and bought it again, but hmm... it's similar to 8 years ago. They must be good at marketing. 👍🏻

The medium size is enough for three people. The large size is enough for four people—never get the large if you're fewer than four people, haha, it's stuffed full. Overall, it's a good experience, but it's absolutely not worth a long wait. Fable fries has fewer people than a crowd and the same taste—if not better. And most of the fries shops in Amsterdam are 90% the same. The fries are tasty, but they're just like any other fries shop. There's nothing special or exceptional about them. Extremely delicious, truffle mayo is the best, and some spices make the fries yummy, they have long queues but the service was fast so you will wait for a couple of minutes then you get your fries

What an incredible queue when we passed by after our canal cruise! However, I was totally surprised how quickly we got our food. Wow! The server was incredibly friendly and even had a quick chat with us. The croquettes were fantastic. In hindsight, we should have tried the fries as well. The price-performance ratio is absolutely perfect. There's absolutely nothing to complain about. Thank you so much!

The fries were absolutely delicious, really good. However, the service we received left a lot to be desired. The first time our food was brought to us, the waiter dropped it while handing it over. We completely understood because these things can happen. However, the second time, he once again handled our food in a very rude and careless way, practically throwing it onto the table. Even though nothing fell this time, the attitude and the way we were treated were simply not acceptable. I understand that everyone can have a bad day, but when you’re paying for a service, you expect at least a minimum level of respect and courtesy. And honestly, if you’re unhappy with your job, find another one you simply cannot treat customers with that kind of attitude. The fries were great, but unfortunately the service really ruined the experience.

I think it's a bit of an overrated place. The service is okay, it's a normal fast-food grab-and-go concept, as good as it can be. The fries are famous for being full of filling, meaning they're thickly sliced, and I didn't like that, or maybe I didn't find them tasty, I don't know. There's nowhere to sit, everyone sits in the empty spots outside, they don't have a seating area. They put too much sauce, you can't taste the fries. I think you should ask for less sauce, but it's up to you.

Already the biggest fan of potatoes and this was next level. The peanut sauce and garlic sauce combination was 10 out of 10.

Yummy to try once if you crave something heavy with fries. We ordered three sauces: andalouse, truffle mayo, and traditional sauce. We also topped it with parmesan, which was super tasty. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a place for seating, so you can eat it on the street, which is nice to experience the full vibe.

We had the chance to try Manneken Pis Damrak while visiting Amsterdam on a day tour. I’m glad we got to try this place. We had the medium with the oorlog sauce. It was sooo good. Worth it!!!

**Delicious chips, but a very disappointing experience with the staff** We visited **Manneken Pis Damrak, Damrak 41, Amsterdam**, on **Monday, 31 August at around 11:50 am**. I want to make it clear that this review is specifically about the **Damrak 41 branch**. First of all, the chips were genuinely delicious. We ordered a small portion with **truffle mayo**, and we enjoyed them very much. There were three of us, and after buying the chips, we stood in front of the shop for a moment because we wanted to take a photo together before continuing our walk. We were planning to eat them while walking around Amsterdam. Then, completely unexpectedly, **very heavy rain started**. It was not ordinary rain — it was absolutely torrential. We couldn't move on, even with umbrellas and raincoats, especially while trying to carry a box of hot chips. A few other customers who had also just bought their chips were in exactly the same situation. So we all stayed under the shop's awning for a short while, waiting for the rain to ease. We were there for **less than 10 minutes**. Then, suddenly and **without ANY warning**, the shop assistants rolled up the retractable awning. All of us were caught completely off guard. We were suddenly exposed to the torrential rain, holding our food and trying to work out where we could possibly go. It was extremely awkward and embarrassing. What made the situation particularly uncomfortable was seeing the shop assistants laughing while this was happening. We were obviously tourists. We had just bought your food, and we weren't trying to occupy the shop's space or cause any inconvenience. We were simply caught in an unexpected and genuinely extreme downpour. In the end, we had no choice but to move to the neighbouring **MaozFalafel at Damrak 40**. And I want to give them a special mention here: **their staff were incredibly kind and considerate.** They didn't ask us to buy anything or make any fuss. They simply allowed us to stand underneath their awning until the rain eased. That small act of kindness meant a lot to us at that moment. **Thank you, MaozFalafel, for showing us such basic but meaningful kindness. ❤️** As for Manneken Pis, I sincerely hope the management sees this review. I understand that businesses have their own practical considerations, and nobody can control the weather. But surely there are moments when a little human consideration matters more than anything else. For many tourists, visiting Amsterdam may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I might only visit Amsterdam once in my life, and I may only have the opportunity to taste these famous chips once in my life too. The same may be true for many of your customers. My husband and I travel quite often, visiting different places in Europe and around the world, for both short and longer holidays. There are so many wonderful destinations out there that we may not return to Amsterdam easily. **The chips were delicious, but unfortunately the way we were treated is what we will remember.** I really hope the management will reflect on this incident and consider whether this is the kind of attitude they want their staff to show towards tourists — or indeed towards any customer. The food deserves the good reputation. **The customer experience, however, left us very disappointed.**

It's quite famous, so there's usually a queue in front of it. There's no seating; you just stand and take your order. One advantage over other french fry places is the wide variety of sauces. I tried about three different sauces when I went, and it's worth going back to try others.

The service was satisfactory, and I found the portions generous compared to other places I’ve tried. In terms of quality, however, I personally preferred some of the other fries places I’ve visited.

the fries were okay, the sauces for the toppings were very good. BUT - i need to complain about that young brown haired girl with the very harsh make up. (HUGE uneven eyeliner etc.) she is serving the fries, not taking the orders, just placing the done fries to take away. that girl really has no behaviour or respect. since, after ordering, you don’t know when your fries are ready, no one will tell you, so i wasn’t sure and have asked the girl ‚sorry, are those the medium fries?‘ to which she replied with ‚it’s large 🤨😡‘ gesturing like 🫳🏻🤲🏻 this with her hand and with a raised eyebrow and a look on her face looking at me like i am the dumbest person on earth. since she then walked away and just told me that those fries are large i just stood there waiting for my order of fries, to which she came back after a minute looking at me dumb again saying ‚those are medium‘ to which i replied ‚where should i know that from, i don’t work here?‘ to which she just walked away again. that behaviour is disgusting, especially from a girl that young at age, maybe she should not work in a customer service job with that attitude. i hope that girl gets fired or at least a proper talk about how to handle guests.

The portion is quite large and filling. You shouldn't go with very high expectations; it's worth ordering once to try.

The fries were just okay, not up to par, to be honest. They say it varies from branch to branch, but the sauce was delicious.

I chose the "Jo something" sauce, and it was curry mayo flavored and so delicious. The fries were freshly fried, so they were super crispy. The service was also top-notch. The person who seemed to be the owner was very kind and even said "Hello" in Korean haha. There is no place to sit and eat inside, but there are stone chairs nearby. 100% willing to visit again!!

A good amount of potatoes and plenty of sauce, but the potatoes themselves need salt; you can't eat them without sauce or seasoning (which they provide, by the way, and I highly recommend adding it). I bought the medium size, and I think that's a good meal.

Great fries! There was a long line when we arrived, but the service was surprisingly fast and efficient. The fries were fresh, hot, and perfectly cooked—very crispy on the outside while remaining soft and fluffy on the inside. We tried the Yoppie sauce and Samurai sauce, and both were really good. The Samurai sauce was especially tasty—very similar to a spicy mayo, with a nice kick. Overall, it was a really good experience, and the quality of the fries definitely lived up to the hype. The potatoes are very good, but the staff are very unfriendly, especially a short girl with glasses who treated us terribly and didn't seem to want to work. I understand she might be overwhelmed with customers, but she was very indifferent and unpleasant for no reason, even though we were friendly.

We had to try Manneken Pis because the lines are ALWAYS crazy, so my expectations were pretty high 😂🍟 Honestly, the fries themselves were really good! Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and not soggy or overly hard at all. My only complaint is the sauce. They put a little bit on top, but once you get to the middle and bottom, the fries are basically dry. 😭 You pay extra for each sauce (around €1.50), so I definitely expected them to be a little more generous. We ended up throwing away some of the fries at the bottom because eating them completely dry just wasn’t it. Other than that, they’re definitely worth trying if you’re in Amsterdam! I got the truffle mayo and LOVED it. 🤤🍟

Fresh thick cut chips and well seasoned. Long line but quick service. Good selection of sauces. It was great to experience a Dutch must have however was not for me - too saucy.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I've been going to this chip shop for 10 years. Not only have the prices doubled, but the service at the counter has also gotten worse, and the portions are smaller. The person who served me barely filled out the paperwork and spoke very quietly. I don't care if they smile at me when I'm greeted, but a minimum of service and respect for portion sizes isn't too much to ask for these prices. I will never go back, and I advise everyone against going. The golden age of this chip shop is over, and it's not what it used to be. However, I didn't get the impression that I ate frozen fries, but you'll find better elsewhere. I'm giving it two stars for the atmosphere, though, because the service in the queue was really friendly; the two gentlemen were very kind and welcoming.

The potatoes are worth trying. If you're eating them alone and want a light meal, get a small one. I also recommend getting the sauce separately; it's better because the amount of sauce they use can overpower the taste of the potatoes, unlike when you buy the sauce separately and enjoy it to your liking.

Straightforward, no-frills fries done well. This is takeout only, no seating, just good fries and out. The fries themselves were genuinely crispy, good enough that you don't really need a dipping sauce to enjoy them, which for me is usually the real test of whether fries are actually good. Serving size was generous too, for reference we paid around nine euros. One thing that stood out less positively: the cashier wasn't particularly friendly during our visit, a bit of an off interaction, small thing, but it did stand out against otherwise great fries. Practical note: it's very easy to find, there's almost always a line outside, so that alone will point you to it. Best for a quick, genuinely tasty fries stop when you're walking around, just don't expect much in the way of a warm greeting at the counter.

If you're wondering whether it's worth waiting in line, our answer is definitely yes.

Classic french fries. If you're Turkish, they won't mean anything to you because you'll find the taste of these bland, like the french fries your mother makes at home.

The Pommes frites aren’t something special. I think they are fried way too many times in the same oil and are blanched and bought from some store. The Pis sauce had interesting taste.

We knew going in that this was pretty much a tourist trap but we gave it a try a way. Pricing didn't seem outrageous, and the fries were good and crispy on the outside but very soft inside. Went with the truffle mayo based on google reviews and it was a very solid sauce option. Overall pretty solid and worth a try, and service was fast despite the huge crowds.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the place was crowded. The fries were amazing. They are easily one of the best fries I have ever tried. They were perfectly cooked and cut, with the perfect level of crispiness on the outside and a soft texture on the inside. We had the sweet onion topping, which was good but not very special. If I come back, I would like to try the truffle instead. I think these are the best fries in Amsterdam.
