The smell in the place was amazing. I dont think you can go wrong with any item but I had strawberry croissant?!? I suppose and it was delicious. Next to train station which is also nice you can quickly grab and eat. Someone said in the reviews the staff were rude when you speak english but for me it was the opposite. In fact, when I spoke English lady was extra nice and helpful!

My absolute favorite bakery during our time in Hilversum. We discovered it while on vacation because of its proximity to our accommodation and a positive review. We tried a variety of their products: the baguette is world-class, and the different croissants are delicious! For us, it's an exceptionally good bakery that I would love to have around the corner from home.

The bread is the tastiest and best in Hilversum! However, if you're already out of sourdough bread by 12:20 on a Saturday, all your sausage rolls are gone, and you only have seeded baguettes left, even though you're only open until 4:00 PM, you're not taking your customers seriously in my opinion!

The staff at this bakery are incredibly hospitable and make you feel very welcome. It is lovely to sit here for a while and enjoy coffee and pastries; keep up the good work!

I've been going to Matthijs Boon often for years. It's a great place, delicious products, and excellent coffee. I order often, and it's always good.

Nice bakery, next to train station. Seats outside and few inside. Self - Service. Helpful staffs. Quite busy place. Some moments were long line. Nice Croissant.

I was happy to find a bakery where I could enjoy coffee and a croissant as a small habit. The products are tasty and the coffee is nice. However, as an English speaker, I often felt unwelcome during interactions with some staff members, which made the experience unpleasant for me. I’ve decided not to return there again, and I hope the bakery can create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcomed, no matter what language they speak or where they come from.

Delicious bread. I ate a small spelt loaf out of my fist on the train. Delicious!

Best bread in Hilversum. Arrive early, as many items sell out by the end of the day. They do participate in Too Good to Go, by the way; it's great to snag a bag!

Super trendy and cozy bakery. Super cool that you can look through the large windows in the store to the bakers! Delicious coffee from coffee roasters Boot from Baarn, super tasty homemade snacks and of course delicious bread.

It clearly states that the opening time is until 4:00 PM on Saturday afternoon. It's fine if you go vacuuming at 3 p.m. at an empty shop and want to go home quickly. But to continue while a customer comes in is antisocial. Then the other 3 ladies behind the counter are unable to greet me. I dutifully asked if the coffee machine had been cleaned yet and was so rebuffed that I didn't even feel like considering another option. Maybe organize a hospitality class for these bored teenagers 🫠

Delicious products, but customer friendliness leaves much to be desired. Terribly unfriendly, surly and disinterested employees. Not recommended!

Everything is great at Matthijs Boon! It's a great location, especially if you have to wait a bit longer for your train. The coffee (double espresso) is excellent, and I can say the same about some of the specialty breads, especially the half Matthijs Bread, which is delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Loved it, had our breakfast practically every day on a week long holiday. Great selection of sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and bread. Coffee pretty good too. Great to sit and watch the bakers at work. Would highly recommend.

The pastries and bread are delicious. I live within walking distance but only come there 3 times a year. Why? I find the staff so unfriendly, also last Wednesday. There is no such thing as a 'nice day'. There is a happy-view atmosphere: yoga ladies, families with three children who want their way, etc. Mathijs cannot do anything about that. But kindness still saves a business, which many entrepreneurs forget.

Matthijs' bakery is beautifully situated. Through the many glass you can see what is made in the bakery. The products are of a very high quality. Especially the original pastries are a feast for the eyes and mouth. The bread is of top quality. The service is excellent and the staff is friendly and willing to go the extra mile. In short: highly recommended!!

Top bakkerij heel lekker brood en ook heel lekker gebak

Super goed bakker, wel aardig aan de prijs maar dat merk je ook , valt niet te vergelijken met de grote winkelketens. Heerlijke broodjes en gebakjes. Absoluut een aanrader, ze gaan duidelijk voor kwaliteit zoals het vroeger was,en dat zie je niet vaak meer.

Beste ham-kaas croissant die ik ooit heb gegeten, croissants ook erg goed. Lekker desem brood (beetje aan de zware kant voor mij maar wel smaakvol).

Bakkerij met veel keus wat brood betreft. Industriël ingericht. Beperkte mogelijkheid om een warme drank met lekkers uit de bakkerij te nuttigen. Blij dat dit kon.

Really good bakery. There’s places to sit down, and the croissants are really good. I had the plain and the cheese croissant and they’re really worth your money. Next time I’ll pop by again for sure, and my try out sitting down for a bit. Also great if you’re waiting for a train as it’s literally across the station.

Awesome sourdough bread. As a daily routine I bake two myself every day for the family but travelling back to my old town Hilversum had to go out and by some. This is very very good. Just wondering: only sourdough starter right? No added yeast? Love to get my hands on your starter and try it myself :)

Chocolate oatmeal cookies are awesome. Has some nuts too, which I really like but I have no idea what kind is in it. Really crunchy 🍪. Close to 5 bucks for a bag of 8 cookies. Great with fresh milk 🥛. I have yet to try their bread

Gebak is heerlijk en koffie is lekker, maar deegwaren zijn niet erg bijzonder voor de prijs.

Broodwaren zijn duur, maar erg goed. Koffie is er 9 van 10 keer erg lekker. Beetje afhankelijk van wie hem maakt.

Erg jammer 7.95 voor een paasbrood met spijs?!?!

After moving to the neighbourhood, this was our first cafe for regular coffee and bakery products. Their coffee used to be nice but these days it is either a hit or miss. Nevertheless, their bread (esp. sesame) & pastries are the best in the neighbourhood. The staff in the small outlet that only serves bakery products is very courteous. Hence, 4* else for cafe it's 3*.

Their pastry is OK, and chocolate covered peanuts are delicious, but for some reason they’re very unkind when we speak in English at the store. It’s the bakery closest to us, but I hesitate going there because they’re unpleasant every single time we visit.
