What can I really think of it if I have to wait half an hour for someone to come and take my order?

It doesn't even deserve one star, the service is terrible, the food is awful, and the hookah is awful. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND IT; you will regret it if you go.

Our order arrived an hour later and the food had no taste at all.

We wait for dessert and Shisha for an hour, while guests , who came later then we received their Shisha faster.Dessert was very tasty.

Food quality very low; the 1 star I give is only meant for the soup, which at least tasted good. The lamb chops were inedible; I literally gagged from the smell, but according to the waiter, it smelled normal. The smell was so bad that even the rice smelled afterwards, meaning I couldn't eat anything from my plate. The service was so bad; I wonder if they spent a long time looking for staff who don't even work. You would think that with a 5am opening time, if you were the first one inside, it wouldn't be busy, everything would be better, but no. Never again Lawanta for us!

Worst experience ever..... there are so many desserts on the menu, but when we asked for them, they weren't there 🤷🏻‍♀️……. Okayyyy then we'll just order something else, right? Already ordered, 2 minutes later the waiter comes and says they don't have the dessert anymore after all, okayyyy ordered something else…. waited 10 minutes for a dessert they just have to get out of the fridge, received nothing, so got up and walked away..... they also take photos of customers without permission. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!!!!

We actually wanted to make a reservation at our favorite restaurant, but there was no availability left. Then we thought of Lavanta, where we had enjoyed dining a few times a while ago. Unfortunately, this evening turned out to be a major disappointment. Reserving by phone was unsuccessful: no one answered, and then the connection seemed to be cut off immediately every time. Eventually, we reserved via the website, which fortunately did work. Due to Ramadan, we wanted the iftar menu. According to the menu, we were supposed to receive olives, dates, walnuts, sun-dried apricots, tahini, lentil soup, salad, and other dishes, among other things. Unfortunately, we did not receive a portion of these at all. For instance, we received no salad and had to ask for the feta rolls ourselves, and no dates to break our fast, no apricots, no olives, and no walnuts. However, the biggest problem was the food itself. The rice with the main course was not cooked properly and was full of hard pieces. When we pointed this out, we were given a new bowl of rice, but unfortunately, it was exactly the same. Things went wrong at other tables as well. The guests next to us had ordered a mixed grill, but the Adana kebab was missing. When they asked for it, they didn't receive it. Another table waited a long time for two Cokes that never arrived and eventually just left. For an iftar menu—where people have often fasted all day—it is truly disappointing when dishes are missing or not prepared properly. In the end, we paid €72, while we did not receive a significant portion of the menu. The staff upon arrival were friendly and seemed to be doing their best, but something is clearly going wrong in the kitchen. Serving uncooked rice and issuing an incomplete menu is simply unacceptable. What makes it even more unfortunate: we used to consider Lavanta a nice and cozy restaurant with good food. However, this evening it was half empty, and unfortunately, our experience also explains the current rating. For us, this was a major disappointment, and we will not be returning here.

Absolutely terrible. I agree with the other reviews. The service is rubbish: food isn't delivered, arrives way too late, or in parts. It took a fifteen-minute wait.

Worst experience ever. No greeting. We had to indicate our order ourselves. The dishes were cold and absolutely not restaurant-worthy. Clearly, a kitchen where the ingredients were purchased and the dishes prepared without any experience. The customers at the table next to us and behind us left with the same complaints. We waited 30 minutes. Parts of the order didn't arrive, and we picked others up later. Tables weren't cleared. The staff were the stereotypical young Rotterdammers who communicated with each other in slang. The restrooms were comparable to a festival Dixie toilet.

The quality of service and the speed of service are noticeably dependent on Ozan's presence. When he's present, both the service and the serving of food run smoothly. However, when he's not there, the wait time increases; even for a simple order like Turkish tea, it's approximately 15 minutes. Ozan even noticed once while taking our order that the heat was on high and checked with us carefully and turned it down.

It was the worst meal I've ever had. When we first entered the restaurant, I asked for the menu twice. We ordered, but the food arrived so late. They sent chili sauce with the stuffed meatballs; I asked for lemon, and it took 10 minutes for it to arrive. And the restaurant wasn't busy, only 3-5 tables occupied. The stuffed meatballs were still frozen inside. The meat-filled bread had no meat on top; even the dough was terrible. My wife ordered the mixed grill; the meat wasn't cooked properly, there were no chops or anything, just two chicken wings, a meatball, and a skewer. It wasn't satisfying at all, neither visually nor in terms of taste.

Absolutely awful. They couldn't even bring the meatballs and grilled meatballs in half an hour. The toilets were filthy. We asked for lemon for the stuffed meatballs and it took 15 minutes to bring them. The bread they brought with the meal was stale. They warmed it up and served it that way 😁 Not to mention the portions were tiny. I've been to Turkish restaurants in at least 10 different countries and this is by far the worst.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I was traveling through Rotterdam and accidentally dropped a folder with a very important document and a large amount of cash at this place. When I returned in a panic, the owner, Mr. Yunus Emre, had already kept everything safe for me and handed it back exactly as it was—untouched. His honesty, kindness, and calm professionalism turned what could have been a nightmare into a reminder that truly good, ethical people still exist. Thank you, sir. You are a gentleman. Beyond that this is the best Turkish spot in Rotterdam. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming—like walking into a cozy home. The team is attentive without being pushy, the service is fast, and the hospitality is genuinely heartfelt. The food is authentic and delicious, with generous portions and fresh flavors; even the simplest things, like the bread and tea, are done with care. Prices are fair, the place is spotless, and you feel looked after from the moment you step in. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop here. People like Mr. Yunus Emre and a place like this deserve all the support and recognition. Highly recommended.

The service is terrible. You keep hearing from staff, "It'll be brought to you soon." Ultimately, they forget. Staff are grumpy and don't seem to be interested in anything. Furthermore, the food is terrible, and especially cold. If you mention this to a staff member, they get angry. The hookah/water pipe has even deteriorated. Everything has deteriorated since Meram closed down. The website even advertises a luxurious open buffet on weekends. You reserve a spot through the website, then arrive at the restaurant, and then you hear, "No, we haven't had breakfast for a while, but you can just order food from the website." Easy money. I would have given this restaurant three chances because you can't immediately assume it's bad if everything isn't perfect the first time, but come on, three times? The stars are only for the service. The gentleman who came to take our orders was very nice and came by several times to ask if everything was OK and if we needed anything. The food was mediocre. We had to wait quite a long time. My girlfriend and I had bonfile that was served with vegetables and fries. My girlfriend received 1 small piece of receipt file. We had no vegetables, only 2 pieces of pepper and 3/4 mini potatoes cut in half. We brought cake for a party. We forgot our plates so asked for plates. At the cash register we had to pay €12.50 extra because we did not bring our own plates for the cake. This is really strange... Never experienced this before. I mean, they're just plates that we asked for.

I come all the way from Antwerp with my husband for dinner but unfortunately we are so disappointed with the customer service. The employees did not smile or nothing, we sat at the table for half an hour, no staff came by or nothing, I got up to ask for a menu and the answer was very nice, move on, we will bring maybe another 1 hour that I had to wait . Even the floor and tables weren't scandalous 😡 never again will I go back there. We came to eat at Albina restraunt, very fast service and very friendly with super tasty dishes

We ordered Etli Bread and Lahmacun, the products were the same, that is, the dough and minced meat of Etli Bread and Lahmacun were the same, only their shapes were different. It wasn't bad, but what we ate wasn't lahmacun. The teas were nice, the environment was spacious and comfortable, the staff were very hospitable, the prices were a bit expensive but okay, frankly, if I'm paying 13-15 Euros for a plate of food, I expect a small appetizer to be served. Overall we left satisfied.

We had pre-booked dinner there on Saturday, but everything was disappointing, the menus were incorrect. Waited a long time while it was empty and there were so many employees present. Came specifically for pide. Pide was not there, chicken was not there. Meat was tasteless, greasy and hard, expensive for low quality. Soup seemed good (haven't tasted it myself). €1.5 for 1 extra lovage is not normal, I think. Disappointed and therefore didn't have dessert as I didn't want to be further disappointed.

We celebrated a birthday party today. Everything was delicious. Girls were very sweet and they were cooperative. Helpful. Thank you very much!

Went here for dessert with my wife. Ordered San Sebastian cake, but it was really disappointing. The cake itself was not fresh (tasted a few days old) and the chocolate on top was simply taken from a jar of Nutella and thrown on top. In my opinion, the San Sebastian cake is absolutely not recommended!

Scandalous! We went for a drink with friends at Lawanta. I had taken a few sips of a cocktail with mint leaves and was shocked to see a caterpillar in my drink on the mint leaf. Well, that's really not possible, I'm a pregnant woman and I was throwing up all evening because of this. No more lawanta for me. Wash your vegetables well, what kind of unsanitary place is this

Ate at Lawanta yesterday. We had some complaints about the food. But it was handled very well by the owner and improved immediately. And children received ice cream afterwards as a make-up. Thank you Lawanta! Food and service were finally good. I've had bad experiences before, but I saw a clear difference.

I recently visited Lawanta restaurant and I can't help but rave about my experience. Even though they had actually closed everything late in the evening, they still prepared a delicious meal for us. This exceptional service really impressed us. The sütlac is an absolute must for dessert.

Until the day I ate at Lawanta, I had never paid €14 for a Turkish pizza in my life. The Turkish pizza was unnecessarily large, which made me feel like I was paying for quantity rather than quality. Plus it tasted more like etli pide.

Frankly speaking, today I had with my family the worst dinner I have ever had in a restaurant in the Netherlands. We ordered 2 different meat plates and it was the worst meat quality we ever had. One plate we had to return as the meat was extremely bad. Even bread provided was cold and not fresh. Service is slow but they are kind. Quality of food is bad and the price is not cheap. Not recommended.

We went there for dinner on Eid-al-Fitr, but unfortunately we had to wait 2 hours for our food. It sucked. We will never come and will not recommend it to anyone. Staff just didn't come. For the first 30 minutes we were just waiting for someone to worship our drinks. Then another hour until order is taken. Then they forgot about us. We were not comfortable at all. So we asked at the beginning if we could sit somewhere else: it was said yes as soon as a family opposite us left. They still had to clear up. Then they let others sit there. No communication among themselves. If you know that it can take a long time to eat, indicate or suggest something that we can already take. No, for us it was all just frustration.

The meal was okay. It was overpriced for what we got. We had to choose the İftar menu, you couldn't order from the menu. There was hardly any vegetarian choice. You paid per person! Almost 40€ for getting 1 water, having to share starters with the table, which are never enough for 4-5 people, and desserts different from those on the menu. It's more appearance than reality, which is a shame. The ambience was good. There was a children's play area. Furthermore, the staff was friendly. The tables are sufficiently large.

Since it was taken over the service has been much poorer. Would have preferred rice with one dish instead of fries. Well that didn't work, but I could buy it instead. No more sandwiches with dipping sauces in advance. Service is precisely in these things. The special now also contains less meat than before. One time you get grilled vegetables and the next time 1 grilled tomato with the spare ribs... We always liked coming to Meram, but I think we will go to another location.

All other merams do this. Whatever your reason, it's just super bad. I would rather eat a well-cooked meal at a snack bar than drive back to Utrecht at 5 o'clock from a busy working day from Utrecht to Rotterdam and just want to stop by Meram in Rotterdam. That you cannot imagine that you are missing out on a lot of income if you do not accept telephone orders. You are not only amateur, but also stupid.

Dit was vroeger mijn favoriete restaurant, lang niet geweest. Vanavond eindelijk weer eens naar Meram....dat viel erg tegen, kaart is veranderd, bediening aan de tafel is op een enkeling na erg onprofessioneel. Alles smaakt hetzelfde, jammer weet niet of ik nog terugkom en na vandaag weet ik het zeker, hier kom ik niet meer terug, wat een slechte onprofessionele bediening.

Für mich ein gutes Restaurant. Mir hat Essen, Service und Atmosphäre gefallen. Würde ich nochmal besuchen.
