We arrived a bit too late for lunch, but the friendly staff and chef were happy to prepare something from the lunch menu. Now that's customer service and friendliness! It's a lovely location by the historic lock in the center of Leidschendam. In the summer, it's lovely to sit on the outdoor terrace and watch the boats sail past in De Vliet.

A popular restaurant, especially for lunch, with a charming waterfront terrace in perhaps the most beautiful spot in Leidschendam. The menu is partly traditional, but also offers some original dishes, such as a Rendang sandwich. It tasted delicious, and the service was excellent.

I wanted to stop for a coffee, a coke, and something to eat. I wasn't allowed to lean my racing bike against the hedge next to the patio. No explanation was given as to why.

A lovely place to enjoy all the boats in the lock during a delicious lunch. The service is friendly, welcoming, and fast. It's often busy because it's a popular spot and the food and drinks are delicious.

The lady who served us wasn't exactly friendly. We ordered soup and some bread, but there wasn't enough cutlery. One cup was much fuller... strange! The ladies' restroom could use a makeover. Still, a great location!

We had a wonderful meal at Old Fashion, housed in a beautiful old building in historic Leidschendam. The food was delicious—not too much and certainly not too little (just right)! The restaurant was a bit noisy for those with hearing problems, but there's room for improvement by adjusting the acoustics, which would benefit everyone.

Nice terrace by the water. Had lunch there. The food was delicious, only a bit too little salmon in the salad, which was a shame. Service was quick and friendly.

Personeel is erg gastvrij en heeft inhoudelijke kennis van wijnen en spijzen. Ik had een cocktail die erg lekker was en vooraf de gamba’s, die zijn erg lekker.

Had a nice dinner with my wife this evening and thought it was fantastic...the entire atmosphere in terms of service, the food and the whole thing deserves a big 10...I live nearby, but had not gotten around to it yet and was really pleasantly surprised....Super friendly and that is already worth more than a 10!! Where nowadays people often walk around in English or uninterested, this restaurant with their crew and with the compliments to the chef, etc., is highly recommended and it certainly speaks for itself... The first time for us. Great friendly welcome. Nice little complete menu, mostly quality with fresh products, I often say to my wife. And this is not a lie, a delicious meal, highly recommended and we will definitely come back here to taste other dishes. We say Do it!!!

Super nice place. Our coat was accepted upon arrival. We were there for a birthday and had reserved a high tea. It was very good and the gentleman who served us was very enthusiastic with explanations of the snacks, etc. Very welcoming atmosphere. Location is also great. Recommended

Heerlijke gegeten, een mooie wijnkaart en zeer vriendelijk personeel. Leuk pand met gezellige winterverlichting. Al met al een heerlijk avondje weg!

Wij verwachtten niet veel als we burgers of ribs op de kaart in een restaurant terug zien maar dit was echt onverwachts keigoed. Beste ribs die we ooit hebben gegeten. Wij komen terug!

I ate the best burger of my life. We ordered a steak and that too was fabulous, the hamburger and some fried chicken with chips, fast service and friendly and courteous staff. Super recommended location, if you pass by here you absolutely must stop.

Delicious food. They also have various options for children aged around 6-8 years, even though this is not on the menu.

Friendly people, but unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for our food. Some boards are not worth the price. For the rest it was pleasant.

Good food in a friendly atmosphere

Surprisingly good food! I had the burger bella ciao with gorgonzola, honey, stewed pear and caramelized walnuts. Beautiful surprising combination! My wife enjoyed the salmon with teryaki, lemon and garlic. Other dishes also promise a lot of good! Furthermore, a nice terrace near the lock, fine inside with very sympathetic and alert service by the owner himself, with a heart for gastronomy!

Sat on the terrace this afternoon. Once but never again. What a ridiculous policy. Have sat at the lock on the terraces many times. First (and last) experience at Old Fashion. Nothing to the detriment of the walking terrace staff. But the policy of this terrace is two pieces of ice for two glasses of wine. This is only possible if a full glass with ice in just coke is delivered to the next table and the waiter goes back inside and comes back with the message that this is the case with coke, but now it is not allowed with wine. Ordered bitterballen canceled and left quickly. What a disgrace. The service really did its best. But NEVER AGAIN. THEN GO TO THE NEIGHBORS AGAIN (extraordinary and the old lock) a lot cheaper, friendly policy and ENOUGH ICE CREAM.

Beautiful terrace, near the lock in Leidschendam. The service was very cordial and friendly, but with too few people, not very attentive to signals and inefficient: it all took a very long time. We had two courses, but we only paid after two hours. Food was mediocre, and at relatively high prices. For comparable prices for a three-course menu, there is a restaurant with a Bib Gourmand on the other side of the lock.

Had a hamburger with a few beers. Hamburger was tasty but not really special, but quite expensive. Quite small hamburger with some fries costs 20 euros. Staff is great!

We only ate coffee and apple pie. Was delicious. Sandwiches that came by also looked delicious. The lady who served us didn't feel like it today. She deserved us, no more and no less, but around us we heard her snapping at various guests. Some cyclists had moved some seats. Not convenient for her, I understand, but the way she responded was really unfriendly. Even more of these kinds of incidents when we were there (15 minutes). When we left a (younger) girl came. She was very friendly!! If she had been there earlier we would have stayed for lunch.

Delicious lunch in the sun on the terrace on the lock side. Rendang was unfortunately sold out, but the chicken satay with a beautiful and complete plate of sambal, cassava prawn crackers, good mango sweet and sour and kentang was very good. My wife also thought the very extensive club sandwich with chips (as served in Malta, for example) was very successful!

The food was really tasty, the atmosphere is very warm and cozy, I can't wait until the weather is really nice to sit on the terrace because they have a beautiful view over the water. To me, the staff seemed unmotivated and uninterested, as if it was their 7th day of work and they would rather have done something else. Too bad for such a nice tent

Come celebrate Easter with us! Was on the flyer. NEVER AGAIN! What a mockery, not even an Easter napkin or egg in the shop, nor could you order a croissant or other Easter sandwich! There was orange juice and whatever else came out of the kitchen was delicious. Compliments for the kitchen!

One vegetarian dish mentioned on the lunch card, versus many meat options. The burger turned out to be in veg available too though. Still rather unbalanced and not very creative veg options.

1. Not greeted at the table (waitress) First question: what we want to drink. No hello or welcome or good afternoon? When asking for a drinks menu, this lady's response was a bit cold. Shame. 2. Chicken pieces, ordered 2 x portion. Far too greasy and not cooked properly and our party did not trust the quality. Some small pieces bit off, otherwise not touched. No alternative or apology was offered: Error 1. First, the pieces were dissected in front of our eyes by the manager to convince us of the quality. However, I don't want to see someone's fingers in food that should have been good to convince me: Mistake 2. Why dispute a customer's experience and not just accommodate without asking? The manager announced that the pieces simply went back into the fat without asking/checking and that we had to pay for the ordered portions anyway, which I did not want. I wanted to cancel the order for the reasons mentioned. That was not possible: Error 3. Our trust was already gone, so this solution does not suit us. When I confronted the waitress (turned out to be the manager) about this and indicated that she did not want to pay for the chicken, the manager continued to defend the quality that we did not receive at the table and would even call the police if we refused to pay for the chicken. Completely wrong! Why do you enter into a discussion with a dissatisfied customer? Customer is king, right? Why doesn't a business do everything it can to satisfy the customer, instead of having food shoved down their throats that is not trusted and valued for quality? Why do I even start a discussion after a complaint to my dear wife and friends? Shame! That's not how you run a successful business. Now a beautiful afternoon out in the area ends with a very bad experience. The staff could really use hospitality training, but the kitchen - also judging by other reviews - could also be a lot better. I have never experienced this level of customer service before. We felt uncomfortable and were even challenged about our emotional response. Embarrassing display! The manager can certainly be held accountable for this.

Terrible service. We all came here after a museum visit for drinks and a snack. We ordered the Kip stukjes which were mostly fat and hardly any meat. The manager came back and said they put the Kip back into the fryer without asking us if we want an alternative or getting our feedback. She then said that we have to pay for it. If we refused they would call the police. What sort of extreme aggression is that? I am from the US, never have I ever had to deal with such an uncomfortable situation in a restaurant. In the states if we are not happy with a meal they would apologize then either give us an alternative option from the menu or take it off the bill. Simple as that. What happened to customer service? Very cold behavior from the start. The waitress who came over to take our drink order didn’t even say hello, good afternoon…just a “what will you drink”. The chicken is not chicken. And we didn’t want to eat fat. This is not ok. A restaurant should have better customer service than this. It made us all uncomfortable. And how embarrassing to behave in such manner in front of your customers.

Wat een tegenvaller. Hoeveel moeite kost het nu om een simpele vegan salade te maken? De ingrediënten daarvoor staan namelijk gewoon op de kaart. Maar de eerste kok vond het schijnbaar erg lastig om de geitenkaas weg te laten en er iets anders voor in de plaats te doen. De kok had er in ieder geval geen zin in. Bedienend personeel was trouwens prima. Vroeg het aan een andere kok en hij wilde wel een salade maken, maar alleen met sla, tomaat en komkommer. Vraag me af in welke tijd sommige restaurants denken dat we leven. Jammer weer.

Lekker gegeten. Daar is niks op aan te merken. Geen sfeervol restaurant om te zitten. Je ruikt de keuken heel erg. Leek wel of we aan het gourmetten waren. Onze kleding rook in de auto terug naar eten.

Helaas een slechte beoordeling, gereserveerd voor 12 man kom je aan zijn is de tafel niet ingedekt. Je kan maar kiezen uit 2 gerechten, anders kan de keuken het niet aan!? Zit je te eten, blijkt het restaurant ook afgehuurd te zijn voor een verjaardag met wel 50 man die gaan tetteren. Snel wegwezen, nooit meer terug komen.

Heerlijke gegeten op het gezellige terras van Old Fashion. De burgers waren fantastisch!

Nothing to eat. We stopped here for a coffee at lunch time. There were no vegan options on the menu so we had to eat lunch somewhere else. The coffee was good and they had oat milk so that was good.

Tijdens een drukke lunch tijd toch de aandacht van degene die ons bediende. Een aantal gerechten wilden wij iets anders dan op de kaart, dat was geen probleem. Werd netjes gemeld dat het iets langer kan duren vanwege de aanpassingen die gedaan zouden worden, daar hadden wij geen probleem mee. Net en schoon restaurant, goede sfeer en een rustige jazz muziek op de achtergrond, leuke inrichting. Hier komen wij zeker terug.

Heerlijk eten, vrolijk personeel

Alles top, alleen, omdat we vrij vroeg waren, was het niet heel druk waardoor we niet de werkelijke sfeer konden meemaken

Heerlijk geluncht in het zonnetje aan het water. De service is ontzettend goed, het eten lekker en daarnaast is het ook niet duur! Er werd goed meegedacht met aanpassingen bij het gerecht i.v.m. mijn zwangerschap, wat ook erg fijn is. We komen snel weer terug ☺️

Met vrienden eerst op het terras een drankje gedaan en daarna binnen (het begon te regenen) heerlijk gegeten. Vooraf een hele goede uiensoep, goed op smaak en goed heet, daarna een perfect gebakken en gekruide rib-eye met krieltjes, asperges en een gebakken tomaat. Ik zat goed vol, een toetje ging er niet meer in. Prettige bediening en een leuke sfeer. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

Zeer onvriendelijke bediening en het eten was niet lekker, het leek wel snel opgewarmd..............en dat voor zeer hoge prijzen! We gaan nooit meer terug!

Sfeervol restaurant, restaurant zit op een leuke locatie in Leidschendam. Wij hebben lekker gegeten. :-)

Matig eten. Goed te doen maar erg simpel. Patates smakeloos, geen zoutkorrel te ontdekken. Spare ribs leken gekookt en waren erg zoet vsn smaak. Hamburger was prima.

Leuke plek om even wat te drinken en een lekker taartje te eten.

Eten super lekker en toegankelijk. Geen michelin-achtige taferelen, maar goed en lekker eten met net dat beetje extra. Mooie aankleding. Bediening vriendelijk en attent. Het uitserveren van de gangen ging wat ons betreft wel veel te snel. Voor ons idee stonden we ondanks 3 gangen, binnen een uur weer buiten. Vandaar maar 4 sterren.

Hier geweest voor een romantisch diner. Het personeel was super aardig en professioneel! De sfeer in dit restaurant in zo super mooi. Perfect voor een date of een gezellige avond met vrienden. Het eten was uitermate goed. Wij hebben de Dirty Fries Truffle en carpaccio gehad als voorgerecht, allebei erg aan te raden. Als hoofdgerecht hadden wij beide erg goed vlees. Bij alle gerechten waren de borden supermooi opgemaakt! Alleen dus maar lof voor dit prachtige-aan het water gelegen- restaurant! Kom hier zeker eens langs!

Zeer goede bediening en Superlekker gegeten. Niet te duur. Komen hier graag terug .

3 cocktails.... €27,50!!! Ze waren dat geld zeker niet waard. Bij de Aperol Spritz merkten we al veel ijs in het glas waardoor er minder drinken in zat. Maarja, kan gebeuren dachten we. Nou, de Strawberry Mojito was nog erger en bijna tot de rand van het glas gevuld met crushijs. Resultaat: 4 slokken, cocktail op. Doodzonde. We hebben dit aangegeven maar kregen geen terugkoppeling. Pas toen we zeiden dat we het jammer vonden dat hij er niet op terugkwam, kwamen er allerlei "argumenten" maar geen oplossing. Jammer. Voor ons geen tweede keer. Geen aanrader.
