Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience. My girlfriend and I went for lunch at Onder de Wester. Unfortunately, we were not treated very kindly by a middle-aged female employee. From the very first moment, we did not feel truly welcome. Her manner of communicating came across as quite distant and even somewhat hostile, making us feel uncomfortable. Eventually, we placed our order with another employee. Fortunately, she was friendly and hospitable and served us pleasantly. The food and atmosphere were otherwise fine, but the first impression and the way we were treated by this employee unfortunately had a negative impact on our experience. In our opinion, hospitality and customer friendliness should be the same for every guest.

The special thing about this café must be their apple pie. I noticed it immediately when we walked in. On several of the tables were large pieces of apple pie, which the guests were clearly enjoying, and so there was really not much to discuss. It had to be tried. And what an experience. It is without a doubt the best apple pie I have had since I was sitting in a small café in Vienna, Austria, a few years ago. I have always thought that apple pie probably had its home base down there, but it has apparently traveled north and found a new home in the Netherlands. We found the café somewhat by chance. The city was full of tourists, and all the popular places were packed. So we did the opposite of most others and opened Google Maps to find the café that was furthest away from the crowds. Our theory was that there must be more peace and quiet out there. For once, the theory turned out to be true. Behind the café is a lovely courtyard with large parasols that provide shade on a hot day. Here we could sit in peace and quiet and concentrate on the most important thing on the menu: the apple pie. Every mouthful was a pleasure. Fortunately, the piece was so large that my wife had to capitulate halfway through. As a helpful husband, I therefore felt obliged to make sure that nothing went to waste. The result was that I got one and a half portions. Now I sit and wonder if there will even be room for dinner. For now, the apple pie has won that battle. Dinner will have to wait a couple of hours while I digest what may be the best decision of the day.

It was our first time having lunch there. Actually, I don't know why. But it is very cozy there in the summer with the garden open and being able to sit there. The food was very good and the service was prompt. Highly recommended for a nice, pleasant lunch.

Nice place, large terrace in a central location in Enkhuizen. Nice menu with the option for tapas dishes. Polite service. What really bothered me, however, was the dirty, wet guest towel in the toilets. That is simply unacceptable, hence no 5 stars.

If you have something on the menu, You have to be able to offer it. And don't say it was sold out yesterday, and takes too long to prepare. It was during lunchtime.

It breathes pure history here. But unfortunately, they don't project that. It does have a fully covered terrace, though. It is wonderfully bearable in the heat.

Upon entering, the staff said, pointing to a table: "Your table 206 isn't over there, just escort someone to their seat." The chairs and table were covered in bird poop. Later, more people who had made reservations came in. They were told that they could only stay until 19:30; after that, there was someone for the table again. The food was good. But it took an enormously long time for us to get our food. We arrived at 17:00 and the main course arrived at 18:30. After that, we tried for another 20 minutes to get through for dessert. Which didn't work out, well, I guess we'll just eat dessert at home.

Everything here is perfect. The food and service are excellent.

We ate there twice during our five days in Enkhuizen because we enjoyed the food so much. The outdoor seating is lovely, which we highly recommend. The tapas are fantastic, but the portion sizes vary. Sometimes the recommended three dishes are enough, sometimes not. But if in doubt, just order more. The dessert was also excellent!

Lovely place, delicious espresso and apple pie. Received very friendly service. Truly a place to come back to! The music inside was quite loud, but that is a matter of taste. I don't need that. Once again, a beautiful, lovely place, highly recommended!

We were delighted with both the decor, including the lovely garden restaurant, and the successful blend of traditional Dutch cuisine and tapas. We also greatly appreciated the friendliness of the staff, who were happy to accommodate even small special requests. During our two-week stay in Enkhuizen, we dined there five times and will certainly return as soon as possible if we visit Enkhuizen again.

It is fantastic here. We thoroughly enjoyed the sun and the amazing food in the courtyard.

There is a huge selection on the menu, various types of coffee with additions such as syrups (caramel, hazelnut, amaretto, vanilla coconut, and cinnamon), and the apple pie is always delicious. This is my fourth time here and they continue to pleasantly surprise me. Cozy indoor space and a beautiful outdoor area; it is lovely to spend time in and out of the sun.

The gluten free choices were enough and what i tasted was well prepared and tasted fantastic the staff is well informed and will answer your questions to the best of their knowledge which i recommend you do if you are a celiac and i would recommend this restaurant for people who are gluten intolerant and are celiac they take care to prepare the gluten free dishes and one of the reasons is one of the cooks eats herself also gluten free and takes extra care bravo!!! Now for those hamburger lovers not gluten free that i ordered the chefs dubble smash burger delicious even the well known burger joints would be jealous 😉 For the rest i gave the head hostess who has been working there for 15 years a tip to change something and to inform the owner and even if they have to do this every year its worth the 30 to 50 euro. I am sure we will come again

We did have stomach problems after eating. It's not what it used to be.

We had made a reservation here for a group after a day at the Zuiderzee Museum. Upon arrival, it turned out it wasn't a child-friendly restaurant. Instead of the staff making this explicit on the spot and apologizing for the misunderstanding, they reluctantly went looking for a table, and the subtext made it clear they'd rather we left. Which is what we ultimately did. So my suggestion to the restaurant: make it clear that you're not a child-friendly place, both on the website and upon arrival. And if you do decide to accept a group with children, give them a warm welcome and court them.

We've ordered tapas for lunch here for the second time today. We're thrilled with the quality and value for money! Plus, there's a nice, cozy outdoor area with friendly, attentive staff! Highly recommended!

The food was delicious! I had chicken thighs with a Mediterranean salad and bread. We wanted fries with it. They were available, but our waitress said it would be a lot. We'll order fries instead of bread. It's so nice when they're so accommodating! I was quite full, what a plate and a huge portion of fries! Definitely worth ordering again!

Mooie ambiance, sfeervol. Het eten was op zich lekker maar kwam vrijwel koud op de tafel (Burger en biefstuk). Serveerster nam het ter kennis en dat was het, was sowieso niet bijzonder opmerkzaam.

Today, five of us had lunch here. We had three Iberico sandwiches, one butterfish, and a carpaccio sandwich. We were deeply disappointed when, for the exorbitant price of €15.50, we were only served one small sandwich with some pulled pork. I thought the other half would arrive, but nothing of the sort. Asking the waitress didn't provide much clarity, and she gave a rambling explanation that was useless. We had a comfortable meal, but the food was disappointing. It's a shame the waitress didn't offer a solution.

I really enjoyed the cozy outdoor atmosphere, the heaters above and provided blankets made it comfortable even on a chilly evening. We had drinks and shared a few tapas. The gambas with champagne aioli were the highlight: flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Mediterranean chicken was also quite good. However, I wasn’t a fan of the curry rice, the flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

A cozy restaurant in the old town with a lovely beer garden. A young team, both in service and in the kitchen, is very friendly and competent. The tapas—I had pimientos, oven vegetables, chorizo, and Camembert—are sensationally good. Not only are they high quality, but they are also imaginatively combined and prepared, making them a feast for the palate. We'll be back in the next few days.
