Delicious and relaxed food. An unexpected gem just outside the center

Ouzeri Omega definitely has its charm: the interior is atmospheric and cozy, and the service is friendly and attentive. We immediately felt welcome and the service was smooth. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing, and that was mainly due to one thing: the use of salt. The dishes were so extremely salty that the flavors were completely drowned out. A shame, because you can tell that the basis of the dishes is good – fresh, beautifully presented and authentic. What was extra striking (and worrying) was that we could see through the open kitchen how an employee sprinkled large amounts of salt over the plates just before serving. That unfortunately explained a lot. Our advice: please be careful with the use of salt. A lighter hand would do much more justice to the quality of the cuisine. Then we would like to come back again!

The dishes lack some seasoning. Portions are nicely served but expensive for the quantity. Very cozy interior.

Very uncomfortable chairs...the food was too spicy and garlicky for our taste (we like garlic). Food ordered at the same time came in very different ways. The waiter had already completely cleared the table before we'd even left – it felt like we were being asked to leave.

Greek food: this is how it should be. Not those mountains of gyros like you find at most Dutch Greeks. But small dishes full of flavor explosions. We will definitely come back.

It is certainly one of the best Greek restaurants we have been to. The only bad thing was the octopus and the kalamaria, but these were fried a bit too long. Otherwise a nice and good restaurant.

January 2025 we had dinner here with a group of 4 people. Very nice atmosphere, cozy seating, on unfortunately uncomfortable chairs. An incredibly original concept to taste all kinds of Greek dishes. The food was of very good quality, a bit expensive here and there for the quantity you get. Service was quite good, well informed when asked questions about dishes or drinks. For us, the service could have been a little better and we could have been asked more often whether drinks could be ordered, a missed opportunity in terms of turnover. The owner walks through the restaurant checkingly and with a stern facial expression, not exactly a friendly hostess. Major disadvantage: the 2 shifts per evening: at 5 p.m. and at 8 p.m. Pure cash register. We experienced considerable time pressure and therefore did not have a relaxed dining out experience. The bill is brought without asking at 7:30 PM. Not exactly customer friendly and really detracts from the overall experience.

I have already published reviews of this restaurant twice. All very positive. In 10 years we introduced it to our entire family, celebrated birthdays there, shared beautiful moments with many friends....in short it was, I say IT WAS, one of our references in this beautiful city of Maastricht. Indeed, we eat good dishes to share, tasty, served quickly, at prices which, despite their increase, remain competitive... The service has always been friendly and efficient, except that previously, as in other restaurants, a welcome ouzo was served as well as a goodbye liqueur... No more of that. But that is not the reason for my very low but deserved rating that I give to ouzeri today. The reason is the way we were treated tonight.... We have been going to restaurants at least twice a week for 20 years....all styles combined... Well, we have never experienced this scenario. Arriving around 6:30 p.m. without having reserved, we saw many free tables....we tried our luck...We were told, it is reserved from 7:30 p.m. or even 8 p.m. for these tables...so OK for you if you only stay until this time. Well, we quickly order 80 euros worth of food and drinks....At 7:30 p.m. a student comes to us with the payment machine and without the slightest word of apology asks us to pay immediately...and to "get out". ..but no one was still in line and many tables were available...We are obviously shocked and ask for a delay because we had half a bottle of very good wine left to drink. We would have easily agreed to finish it elsewhere in this restaurant but even the "grill chef" and the "room manager" told us to pay and leave as quickly as possible...despite our explanations on the fact that we were loyal customers for a long time... At 68 years old I don't think I've been so poorly received in 50 years... So dear Liège residents at Maastrichtois, remember that when you walk through the door of this restaurant, you will no longer be considered anything more than a number. A payer who must obey the orders of the "boss"... The opposite of the principle of this profession. And so far from our Liège welcome.! There are many other places to enjoy in Maastricht, Liège and elsewhere. I am a Google guide level 7 So I have a little experience. Word to the wise, hello! In Ouzeri Omega. Farewell.

The food is good but as far as the welcome is concerned, not really. We had 1 hour to eat and were royally kicked out with a 1/2 bottle of wine which was not finished. !! In short, big nonsense, it wasn't the first time that we went to this very busy right, very disappointing really!!!

Recent hier gegeten met een bevriend koppel. Begonnen met calamari. Heerlijk met een krokant buitenkant, lekkere tzatziki. Elke ronde bestelde we allemaal wat we lekker vonden, maar ook heerlijk om t delen zodat je echt veel verschillende gerechtje kunt proeven. Onder andere nog heerlijke champignons met knoflook, sardientjes, frietjes, souflaki, deeg met spinazi, punt parika en salade. Voorzien van een drankje en uiteindelijk afgrond met een lekkere koffie. Verrassend veel vega gerechtjes op de kaart. en natuurlijk ook vlees, vis en salades. Elke ronde kun je gerechtjes bestellen. Bij elk gerecht staat hoeveel het kost, dus je weet hoe duur je het gaat maken. De porties zijn niet so groot als een hoofdgerecht, daarom kun je meerdere rondes bestellen. Maar wel genoeg om lekker te genieten van een gerechtje. Reserveren is wel handig. Wij konden om kwart voor 8 aan tafel. Daardoor konden we wel lekker lang blijven zitten en hadden we geen "blok tijd". De sfeer is gezellig. Vriendelijke bediening, ook lekker snel. We hadden een fijne plek. Het zat vol dus dan merk je wel dat het wat rumoeriger is. Maar dat mag de pret niet drukken. Een heerlijke geslaagde avond ! Zeker waard om nog eens terug te komen.

Yesterday we ate at Ouzeri Omega again. Because we are always satisfied, I went with friends who had never been to this restaurant before. Unfortunately this time it was disappointing. The food was good, although the eggplant beinets were very greasy, but the atmosphere was less so. The staff was friendly but rushed, our time slot was until 8:30, and we were pretty much looked away. "if you want dessert you have to order within 5 minutes" And when we asked whether a double espresso had been accidentally delivered instead of a coffee (because the coffee ordered tasted the same as the double espresso), the boss came to our table and very unfriendly asked what I actually wanted. This may sound like a small thing but it was very unpleasant.

Maravilloso restaurante griego. El menú es enorme y diverso, con platos pequeños para compartir. Algunos platos podrían ser mejores pero como he dicho hay muchas opciones y hay algunas muy buenas. Me encanta el ambiente y el buen servicio.

Tasty Greek tapas in a nice atmosphere and environment.

Super tasty food and really attentive, friendly staff. It is often busy so reservations are recommended. In my opinion, there are a lot of people in a small area, which causes a lot of noise. Pleasant, but not optimal for a quiet good conversation. Other than that, it's absolutely great! I will definitely go back!

Not good The value for money of the restaurant was insufficient for us. The Souvlakis in particular were way too salty. It didn't taste like it should. Furthermore, the gyros was okay, but this portion was not sufficient in terms of taste compared to other restaurants. Furthermore, the furniture was not nice, the tables were too small. Service okay, sardines good, souzouki also fine. There are many better Greek restaurants in Maastricht where you can eat better food for less money. We spent 74 euros with 2 people, without dessert and with only 4 colas. Ridiculous.

Real Greek cuisine in Maastricht. Recommended!

Simply dreadful! As a Greek and a business owner, I’m convinced this place’s 4.6 rating is about as real as the "Greek" flavors they’re serving—probably courtesy of some creative fake reviews. Not a single dish we had tonight resembled the taste of Greece. They call it a Greek tapas restaurant, but the food is either flavorless or drowning in salt. The spaghetti garlic? Clearly not freshly cooked. The dry texture screams "pre-cooked" or "left under a heat lamp for eternity." And frying garlic until it’s nearly burnt? A rookie mistake. As for the lamb chops and skewers, they were so oversoaked in saltwater, I felt like I was chewing on a sponge from the Dead Sea. Even the cheapest Chinese takeout wouldn’t make it so blatantly obvious. Service? Far from stellar, with a side of intimidation. When we offered feedback, the chef’s response was more sarcastic than a bad comedian’s routine. We even chatted with another couple, and guess what? Their food was just as salty. Maybe we were cursed with bad luck, or maybe this restaurant just doesn’t care about food safety. Salt overload is a real concern, especially for those with high blood pressure. But clearly, that’s not on their radar. How this place is still in business is a mystery that not even a Greek oracle could solve. You can be not authentic Greek, but work on your food quality and service!

Gewoonweg niet geweldig! Als Griek en ondernemer ben ik er volledig van overtuigd dat de hoog sterren van deze plek gewoon gekochte nepbeoordelingen zijn. Niets van het eten dat we vanavond hadden, heeft ook maar iets weg van Griekenland. Ze noemen zichzelf een Grieks tapasrestaurant, maar het eten is ofwel smakeloos of gewoon te zout, en de knoflookspaghetti is niet vers gekookt. Iedereen kan zien aan de droge textuur dat het al lang van tevoren is klaargemaakt of te lang onder de warmtelamp heeft gestaan. Je moet knoflook niet zo donker bakken! Zowel de lamskoteletjes als de lamsvlees op spiesjes moeten te lang in zout water zijn geweekt om de structuur mals te maken, je proeft het sterke zout in het vlees. Afschuwelijk! Zelfs in goedkope Chinese restaurants zouden ze het niet zo duidelijk maken. De service is niet geweldig en een beetje intimiderend, vooral als je ze feedback geeft lijken ze kritiek niet serieus te nemen—de chef was zelfs erg sarcastisch over de zoute lamskoteletjes. We spraken zelfs met een ander stel over het zoute eten, en het bleek dat hun eten ook zo was. Ik dacht dat we gewoon pech hadden. Zout eten is slecht voor mensen met hoge bloeddruk en andere ziektes, maar ik denk dat voedselveiligheid hen niet interesseert. Hoe heeft deze plek het ooit overleefd?

Voor de eerste keer hier gaan eten en wat een ervaring. Niet de standaard Griek, maar de keuze uit allerlei kleine gerechtjes om te delen. Alle gerechten waren stuk voor stuk lekker en met zorg voorbereidt. Tevens was de eigenaar en de rest van het personeel zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Voor ons een hele mooie avond en wij komen zeker terug. Dank voor jullie gastvrijheid!!!

The restaurant gives a tapas-like idea. But I thought the dishes were much too big for that. For me, the portions could be smaller and the prices could be lowered a little, then I would taste a lot more. The fish was good. I've had better everything else. Like the meat (could be crispier) and the feta in honey. Way too much feta in it. May be half. Bruschetta just wasn't it. Maybe I'm too spoiled with expensive restaurants. Service was good. We had mussels that were way too salty and they were taken off the bill. In my opinion the furniture needs to be replaced. High tables, chairs and benches are nice, but after an hour I could no longer sit on the narrow wicker seat of the chair. Too little sitting meat?

Had a delicious meal here last Thursday, during a day in Maastricht. My friend wanted Greek food, I preferred tapas and that's how we ended up here. All delicious dishes! The snacks also arrived quickly, despite it being busy. Friendly service. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely go back!

Heerlijke griek, weer eens wat anders. Geen all you can eat met mega porties maar Grieks in tapas vorm. De kwaliteit van de gerechten was top, bediening ook vriendelijk en attent. Sommige gerechten waren wel iets aan de kleine kant maar dat is dan ook het enige negatieve wat ik kan bedenken

Delicious meal with 4 people. Staff was very friendly. Greek food that is different than usual at a Greek restaurant. We tasted dishes here that I have not had elsewhere. Everything in tapas form, so in small portions. Location is also nice and interior too. One small downside is that the chairs are not really comfortable, especially if you have been dining for a while. For the rest completely great👍🏼.

Cozy and tasty food and well cared for

What can I say … In all those years with the wife / family / group of friends, I have never been able to fault anything. These people run their business with passion, friendliness and delicious cuisine. The staff is top and professional, nothing is too much to ask. As a big meat eater, I am completely sold on their vegetarian dishes. The drink prices are also not skyrocketing. Highly recommended and one of our favorite restaurants in Maastricht 👍👍.

Nice restaurant, cozy atmosphere. Food is fine, it's a kind of Greek tapas. Some smaller dishes. Which you order per quantity. Greek wine was very tasty 👌 The only notable thing is that the main entrance has been slightly moved. Think from a practical point of view. Otherwise fine. But the restaurant as a whole deserves a better entrance. We will definitely come back!

Wat een leuk restaurant! Die ballen waren echt zó lekker! Een heel leuk tentje, gezellig druk en vriendelijk personeel. Het concept is dat je het eten deelt; hebben we met de Griek nog nooit gedaan. Via Tripadvisor gevonden toen we een weekendje weg waren. Was via Google Maps alleen niet goed aangeven maar wel gevonden gelukkig.

Very nice place to eat! Food and drinks comes fast and they gave decent sized tapas! In the end you will still reach up to 40-50 euros per person, but honestly it is worth the price. The service is fast and good and it's nice an cozy inside.

Niks dan positief over dit restaurant, het is misschien wel iets over na te denken om met mensen te gaan waar je mee kunt delen. De porties zijn aan de grote kant en makkelijker om te delen. En dan zijn de porties voor 1 persoon te groot. Reserveren een must, ze maken ook 2 rondes dus werden we precies volgens afspraak om 19.25 uur verzocht om te vertrekken. De sfeer is gezellig, iemand noemde het een vakantiesfeer, dat gevoel hadden we ook bijna. Het eten lekker en vers bereid. Tafeltje te klein voor de grote porties, dus dooreten. Personeel ook 5 sterren, attent, vriendelijk en correct. Dus zeker een aanrader.

Een gezellig restaurant, alle medewerkers waren vriendelijk en attent. Een blik op de open keuken was het bewijs dat hier hard gewerkt werd! Leuke ambiance en heel lekker gegeten! Redelijk geprijsd!

Het eten was prima en de bediening ook. Ik vind wel dat de tafels te dicht bij elkaar staan. Naast ons tafeltje zat een grote, luidruchtige groep mensen die ook nog eens de hele tijd rakelings langs onze tafel liepen. En we waren al op een andere plek gaan zitten, op de eerste plek kon je geen gesprek voeren zonder dat je buren alles meekrijgen. Stoelen zitten inderdaad niet lekker.

We hebben overheerlijk gegeten. Voor inktvis liefhebbers is de grgrilde grote pijlstaart inktvis een ervaring! Doen. Aardige bediening.

We komen altijd graag naar Ouzeri Omega. Het eten is heerlijk en de bediening super vriendelijk. Mijn man is vegetariër en heeft toch een uitgebreide keuze. Zeker een aanrader!

In één woord: Top! Vriendelijke, oplettende bediening en een goede authentieke keuken, wat wil je nog meer. Voor het eerst geweest, maar zeker niet voor het laatst.

Het eten was heerlijk en de service was top. Het menu bestaat uit hapjes om te delen, warme en koude gerechtjes waarvan een groot deel vegetarisch maar ook vlees en vis. De medewerkers zijn vriendelijk en er hangt een leuke sfeer in het restaurant. Sterke aanrader als je in maastricht bent.

Wat zal ik zeggen, de bediening was goed, de wijn was goed en de salade was ok. Mooie plek, MAAR…… De tzatziki proef ik na een dag nog, veel te veel knoflook erin. VERSCHRIKKELIJK. Sardientjes, hou op schei uit… zelden zo een droge gebakken visjes gehad. De octopus van de grill, zo taai heb ik het nog nooit gehad. De souflaki, helemaal droog, eeuwig zonde. De pita, was keihard nadat ie 5 minuten op tafel lag En de courgette beignets, waren zompig en vol met olie. En dan de stoelen… tja, niet fijn.. Maar de conclusie is, dat de kok of geen beste dag had, of veel te slecht inkoopt of dat het gewoon geen passie meer is Ik stel voor dat ie eens als gast gaat zitten, en gaat proeven wat hij eigenlijk serveert. En dan ook nog eens 90 euro aftikt… Waarschijnlijk is het de dag erna anders

Het eten was oké, niet geweldig. De prijzen per gerecht zijn hoog, maar je krijgt dan ook wel grote porties. Ik had het liefst kleinere porties gehad voor een lagere prijs zodat je meer kan proeven. De smaak van het eten was niet geweldig en de stoelen kreeg je na een uur zitten rugpijn van.

Stevige prijs voor sommige gerechten, erg luidruchtig als zaak vol zit.

As a Turkish who is very familiar with the cuisine, I can say that it was the best greek food I had in the Netherlands! I recommend it! We had tzatziki, Farmer salad, Melitzana feta, Spanakopitakia, Mousaka, Arnisouglaki, Karides and Octopus, all was delicious. The staff was kind too :) Thanks for the delicious food!
