The food was excellent, and we were seated immediately without any wait. Unfortunately, not all staff members appeared welcoming or smiled.

Wonderful small and cozy spot with good food. I recommend treating the "for the table" as sides per person, but that's due to my own preferences in amounts. The Porcetta, don't tell Adam and fries were great and my vegetarian dinner partner was also very happy with the Parmezan potatoes, oyster mushroom sandwich and fries. A lot of vegetarian options without any hits to the quality of the dishes. An accomplishment for sure When we were here it was pretty empty, we were helped quickly and our food was ready in mere moments. Would recommend and will return!

We went for taco Tuesdays and it was *chefs kiss*. And I have been here before a couple of times also and its always great. Great food, great people, great vives.

Went to Papi's after canoeing through the canals. Hadn't been here before, but it looked good and had (non)-vegetarian options. The atmosphere is here is good and the staff friendly. I didn't really here any other noises than just the bar, which was nice, good place to get some rest after the physical exercise. We had a starter/dinner/desert and paid around 150 for the four of us, including drinks. We made a reservation beforehand, but in our case that wouldn't have been necessary as it was not that busy. The place is not enormous so I would still recommend making a reservation.

Very good comfort food. The fried chicken were really tasty, also the dairy cow steak which is quite beefy yet tender. The grilled feta with hot honey was a big winner too. Definitely a great place for this type of food.

Wow, the food here is delicious, and the charming staff's customer focus is a true example. Something went wrong with our lunch order, and they immediately offered to remind us that the mimosas were on the house, along with a glass of cava. It was a pleasant lunch. I'll definitely be back.

I’ve been here a few times and love the chicken sandos. They change the toppings from time to time, which keeps the menu interesting. This past week I stopped in for an impromptu dinner and tried the burger. Actually it had two 80g patties, great sauce and was slightly spicy. Juicy, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The way a burger should be. The service was friendly, as usual. I always find they are willing to help with any questions you have about the menu. Casual, laid back atmosphere. Non-pretentious. Try the Bloody Marys too. The last time I tried one it was great.

Tacos Tuesday was amazing. Chef Jenny from Arizona made amazing beans, pulled pork and fried cauliflower. Everything was good and two bar tenders were great! Definitely coming back. We’re from Texas and this is best we’ve had in Europe.

Good lord, the best breakfast I have had in six weeks of touring around Europe. And a lovely refreshing mocktail to accompany it. Absolutely incredible. Great vibe, super cool and friendly service.

Overall, for the price you pay it’s not really worth it. I only gave the place three stars because the service was friendly and the dishes we had were tasty. But the prices are quite high for the portions you get. Additionally, I don’t know if that was some kind of a mix-up but we were charged 12€ for a soda drink (labeled on the receipt as special of the month). When we asked whether the drink we got was indeed the special of the month, they said yes. The drink was nowhere on the menu so obviously if we knew it would be that much for a soda drink, we would not have ordered it.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the most vegan-friendly spot. They’ve recently scaled back their plant-based offerings and currently only have cauliflower tacos on the menu. While there are two other dishes that can be made vegan, it’s disappointing to see so little creativity or effort put into catering for vegans. Given the limited options and relatively small portions, I also found it a bit overpriced. That said, the service was excellent. Our British waiter was exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere of the place is warm and welcoming. With a bit more care toward inclusive menu options, this place could be a real gem.

We stumbled upon Papi's Comfort Kitchen while on vacation, and it was fantastic! We were there for dinner and chose the burger and the steak. Both were extremely delicious and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we had banana fudge with rum cream...and it was heavenly! Plus, super friendly service and great drinks. We were more than satisfied. :)

Coming in with zero expectations, this brunch place was SO good! Everything was well thought of, the food was BOMB and from the drinks to the homemade sauce - all 10/10. This really is what a brunch place should be like!!!! Also special mention the loveliest staff

I agree with most of the 1-2 star reviewers I see from my personal experience (17 customers from last 12 months). I went in happy and came out very unhappy & dissatisfied. Papi's Comfort Kitchen's main focus seems to be more on their friendliness but not on (also) important food quality, quantity, fair price and service abilities like how to handle issues and coming up with response/solution that is on point with customer's needs. I found the dishes I had to be too over priced, over cooked and taste was not special; "I've had it better elsewhere" moment. Everyone's tastebuds are different, but for those who have had more authentic dishes elsewhere, you'll probably feel the same (IMO). Service consistencies are lacking and this seems to have also impacted others like a reviewer left to deal on their own to change their infant and way longer wait times than those who come in later than you. It's a friendly place for *some*. Harsh but true.

Coolest place in the neighborhood. The food is great and they have awesome very nice classic cocktails with some unique spin. The staff is super friendly and the mood is always great here. Highly recommended for a dinner or brunch!

The staff is friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is lively but the food is mediocre at best. The 17€ Full Vegan Breakfast (the only vegan option) was served with non-vegan halloumi cheese. When I told the server he said that halloumi is vegan, then checked with the kitchen and told me it’s actually not vegan. Nothing else - no replacement for the non-vegan cheese was offered, no discount, nothing. The rest of the platter was alright, lots of greasy fried stuff. For 17€ I expected more and unfortunately left still hungry. The 12.50€ chicken Caesar salad my friend had was tasty but lacking in portion size in his opinion. Iced coffee and fresh orange juice were good. Improvements to be made: train staff on what is vegan, on how to deal with a complaint if a mistake happened, work on portion sizes. How is it justified to charge the same price for veggie and vegan breakfast despite the fact that for the vegan one you just remove the eggs and cheese without replacing it with anything else? Less food should be reflected in a lower price update 2025: vegan options have decreased (aka there’s one dish) and prices have gone up. Here on Google the restaurant offered a make-up brunch after my last rebrew, but they never followed up on it. bad service.

Food itself is fine, but 17 euros for chicken and waffles is really a lot and then you just get a fine portion, but in my opinion the portion is not worth 17 euros. In my case it also took 30-40 minutes to get my food while the couple next to me got their food after 15 minutes. A bit of a shame, the waiter/waitress was nice.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. It is trendy and cozy. We went for taco Tuesday and the food was fantastic. Lots of big groups in the restaurant so the kitchen was a little slow but it’s obviously a very popular place that can accommodate big groups. I will be back in another night to try other menus.

We decided to book a lunch here because it’s very close to the Nijntje Museum. The staff were kind and assisted us very well. The menu is quite interesting, with some Asian-inspired flavors mixed in. Overall, the food was good. Since we were a group of six, the food came out a bit slowly, but we completely understood. We ordered different dishes, so it naturally took some time to prepare. The restaurant was a bit noisy when it got crowded, but that’s not something they can really control. In fact, it’s a good sign for them — it shows that the place is popular and doing well!

One of my favorite spots! The food and service are both consistently amazing. They’ve got the best brunch in Utrecht hands down. They also have the best tacos in Utrecht on Tuesday’s - they really stepped their game up in the last couple of months and they’ve gone from good to truly great!

It's such an honor to be able to serve you at Taco Tuesday. The chicken steak is really delicious, and the beef taco is also very good. The recommended spicy chicken wings are also worth trying.

Went to Papi's for the first time and what a hit it was!! Everything was perfect, the decor, the staff and wow the food!! Divine. We had waffles and chicken and a chili dog, and especially a pimento ginger beer.

Cozy atmosphere with delicious food :)

We decided to have lunch here because of the great reviews on google. After we sit down and ordered, we needed to change our youngest. We asked the staff where we could do it and basically she told us to figure it out. They don’t have a changing station and they also don’t want us to change inside the restaurant. For a restaurant with such an kid friendly menu I find it a shame that they can’t invest a few euros for a foldable changing station in the bathroom.

Good food. Their chicken dishes in particular were amazing. If I would recommend one thing though, it’s that you need a reservation. The place is popular! Also beware that they may host events for the weekend, so be on time otherwise unfortunately you have to leave.

I previously visited this restaurant with my friends and had a good experience, so today I brought my friend who lives in the UK. However, we waited 1 hour for our food, while multiple customers who arrived after us were served promptly and even left before we received our meals. The table next to us, for example, only waited 20 minutes. Notably, my friend and I were the only non-white customers in the restaurant. This experience made me feel deeply uncomfortable and unwelcome. I will not be returning.

The food is very delicious! We came for lunch and ordered the mushroom tacos and quesadillas - both I can recommend. The service was great, the staff were extremely nice and friendly. It created a very welcoming atmosphere. It was rather busy tho, so I’d recommend to reserve a table in advance.

I presume I am not the easiest guest when it comes to my total experience when go out and eat. But as picky as I am, I couldn't find any reason to complain... au contraire mon frêre! Excellent, without ranking their interior, because that was out of this and beyond expectations! Especially the bar in the basement....Look for yourself and tell me I am exaggerating. But I am pretty sure you won't!

This place is fantastic. We been coming here for two years and it is consistently good. They are always coming up with new stuff on the menus and keeping the classics as well. Everything is made with love and great attention to details down to the roasted veg on the diner menu. Not to mention the cocktails are amazing and on point. This is the best place in Utrecht bar none.

Overpriced food for a small salad and the roasted pumpkin came right out of the fridge, so called, you can't call that roasted anymore. It was nice they made fresh mozarella sticks but they were falling apart, cook needs some practice I guess

best restaurant in utrecht i've been to so far

I've been to Papi's twice in the last month. Once for brunch and once for dinner. I highly recommend a reservation either way. I loved their previous sandwich shack and had been confident that the food would exceed my expectations. The food is superb, everything tastes very sophisticated and is being made fresh to order. The chicken they use for their dishes remains being super juicy which really makes those dishes stand out to me. And I just love the fact that I can satisfy my cravings for fresh mozzarella sticks with marina at Papi's. I also really like their drink offers, appreciating them having a virgin gin on stock to turn any of their drink options with gin into a mocktail. Unfortunately the service was lacking both times that I visited and I'm not sure whether that is based on lack of routine of the staff or whether it is the actual system they work with. When I went for dinner it was super packed due to being Thirsty's Thursday. We order two starters and two mains. Overall it took very long to place our orders and also to get drinks as far as two different waiters came to ask for drinks. After we had our starters it took massively long for the mains to arrive, whereas it turned out that they forgot to even put our mains in the system. Once they realized (after asking us twice about whether we had ordered more food), they compensated us with offering a standard drink which was a nice gesture. When we went for brunch (at the time of ordering it was only 3 more tables being seated besides us) there was a similar mishap, but this time being that none of the orders were separated so the kitchen had starters and mains ready at the same time. We were kindly asked whether they should put the mains in the oven to keep them warm. So we were pleased to do so for 5-10min max when we were having the first round of food. But when we then were served the mains they were unfortunately not properly hot anymore. Also reordering drinks once the place was packed during noon was quite a hassle. Besides the above points the staff is super nice and kind. I'll keep coming back for the food for sure and I kinda hope that during the next Christmas-holiday season that they would bring back my previous favorite from the shack, being the Christmas special (roasted turkey melt with stuffing, ham, cranberries and cheese).

An empty plate is the best summary for this nice spot. International comfort food at its best. If you are in the museum district, this is highly recommended.

No bathroom available this evening ( understandable) when the food came after a 30 minute wait the pork chop was completely inedible ( salt, bitter ,dry and way too much rosemary in everything ) and after sending it back after a bite I was told I’d still get charged the full price for it that’s when we left. the cocktail are nice but it’s a 20 minute wait at least. Would not recommend

Well I’m just speechless… the atmosphere is just so so amazing and the food is too and we sat at the bar and learned some stories for the bartenders and all that just at lunch time. Best Bloody Mary we’ve ever tried, chicken sando I just devoured (I usually don’t eat “this kind of things”) and people passing by in the big windows… high class and a secret place to know in town.

The location, interior, service, and general atmosphere are phenomenal! You feel the love and warmth that is put into this place, while maintaining style and chillness. The food however didn’t impress it. I ordered the chicken and waffles, Mac n Cheese, and Breakfast Banger with hot sauce, and everything was underseasoned and under-salted, especially the fried chicken. It was such a shame because the presentation of the food is impeccable and everything is cooked to perfection, but you hardly taste anything. The Mac n cheese simply tasted of Gouda with no saltiness or cheddar kick, the hot sauce was not hot by any standard, and like I said the fried chicken tasted like it was Baked, not fried. Spices go a long way but these ones just couldn’t do the distance. I say that from a Hispanic/American perspective though, maybe the spices are intentionally tuned down for the Dutch palate which I can understand. Despite the negativity, the restaurant is still delicious and worth every euro! (Maybe get a spicy option and ask for more spice though)
