A particularly cozy and atmospheric restaurant. Had a delicious meal, friendly service. Highly recommended!

We had to wait for our food for over an hour because they had forgotten about us. Then, when our food finally arrived, the fries were cold and they said they would bring new ones, but that didn't happen. We then spoke to a staff member to explain that we had already finished our meal and the fries still hadn't arrived, but apparently the staff member didn't do anything about it, because nothing came. Eventually, the manager apologized and gave us a free drink and dessert.

Horrible experience. Not only did they completely skip one of the drinks we ordered, but when we asked about it, the staff acted as if it was no big deal and casually dismissed it without an apology. To make matters worse, when we asked to pack our leftovers, they just handed us the box. When I politely asked for a bag, the staff checked and came back with a look of pure annoyance, bluntly saying they didn’t have any. It’s fine if they don't have bags, but treating a customer like a nuisance and dismissing their mistakes is unacceptable. Terrible service, completely ruined our evening."

Fine. The food isn't exceptional but decent. The cocktail was delicious. The service was absolutely top-notch. Great seating.

I ate here on Wednesday, May 27. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. I ordered a risotto. It was tasteless. Very peculiar; it really had no flavor at all. A few stray sun-ripened tomatoes and some (sweet) olives didn't do it any favors. They didn't fit the dish at all. The staff (who, by the way, were mostly very busy talking to each other) did resolve this and replaced the risotto with a Caesar salad. I thought, little can go wrong with that. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Soaked in sauce with tasteless pieces of chicken. Really not tasty. When we wanted coffee and dessert afterwards, it took at least 20 minutes before we managed to get a waiter's attention. Dessert was fine, though. I had a shared lunch here recently, which was really good. The ambiance is also great. But the dinner, not recommended.

We had lunch at Paviljoen Nijstad today. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our drinks. After that, we were served the fries in advance, with the message that the lunch dishes would be arriving shortly. Since we were already hungry, we ate the fries immediately. However, we then had to wait another 40 minutes for two lunch dishes. We found that to be a very long time, especially since we had been told that the food was arriving soon. The quality of the food was fine, but due to the long wait and the communication regarding the expected serving time, the lunch did not go as hoped. It is a shame, because that significantly affected our experience. Hopefully, the service will be improved in this regard.

Unfortunately, very disappointed. The sharing platter was only available for two people or more, and what was on it was very mediocre and meager for 30 euros. Also, a drink was forgotten at least four times, and we asked multiple times if the order had been received correctly. In those instances, we didn't receive the same thing we had ordered, but unfortunately, the wrong drink. The hot chocolate was cold and the cola was warm. Everything was extremely expensive, not all the staff were easy to talk to, and it sometimes took up to an hour for the wrong drink to arrive. Not recommended.

Friendly staff and service. Starters good. Main courses were very disappointing. No flexibility to easily modify a dish. The braised beef did not taste good. The prawn burger detracts from the taste of the prawns; the bun and chips served with it remind me of a lunch from a bad cafeteria. I went home with a stomach ache. 2 types of fries is not very original. The food service was neither very communicative nor friendly. Table too small for 2 people. Too expensive for the poor quality provided. No second time for us.

Beautiful location by the water

I've been to Paviljoen Nijstad many times. Always nice. The last time, at Easter, we found the shared lunch a bit disappointing. A lot of bread and not much savory food. Otherwise, the service was top-notch again.

Nothing but praise for this restaurant. We come here regularly, so that says enough. A huge selection of cocktails! Just tasty, basic but good food. Also great fun for the kids when the weather is nice!

Had lunch with a dear friend of mine. Ordered a vegetarian platter, which turned out to be a lot of sweets, but that's less my thing. I'd rate the food as average. It is a hip spot by Drenthe standards though, very nice.

I give training sessions in the halls here, and everything is always perfectly organized! Friendly staff, perfect lunch (abundant!!), and plenty of snack service for the participants. Beautiful location that is also decorated in a really chic style. Highly recommended: press the button in the restroom and you will come back full of energy!!!

We had dinner there last night with my husband, children, and grandchildren. Everything was well taken care of and the food was delicious. They also went to great lengths for the little ones. Highly recommended!

Been there 3 times and yesterday didn't even order anything. Everything takes a very long time. Too long. We came for lunch and were allowed to find a spot ourselves. After sitting at a table with only a cocktail menu for fifteen minutes at 11:30, we still hadn't seen anyone at our table. Instead, 5 staff members were hanging around the bar. We knew that you need patience here, but that you can eat, drink, and sit comfortably, but this was truly the very last time for us.

She had better avoid it at Christmas.

Really great. Fast service, nice atmosphere, good prices. For 4 specialty drinks (delicious chocolate milk, boba drink, lemonade, tai tea) and the lunch platter for 2 (2 burgers, 2 cups of soup of your choice, 2 croquettes, 8 half slices of luxury bread, 6 desserts, and sandwich toppings), I spent 55 euros, including tip for 2 people. So, nothing to complain about. Delicious and top-notch!

We wanted to have drinks with four people, one of whom was vegetarian. Unfortunately, the vegetarian platter couldn't be ordered for one person, which wasn't even on the menu. When we asked, they were also negative. I don't understand why everything says "for two people" except for the platter. The staff was quite irritated.

I had a wonderful meal with my girlfriend. The carpaccio sandwich was really generously filled and tasted really good. Afterwards, I went for a short walk around the beach. It's a beautiful location, and I'll definitely go back. The price-quality ratio is also very good.

Too bad I was forced to order a snack platter for two people. Weird, right?! I asked why, and the staff didn't exactly get any nicer! I just left, without drinks or snacks.

On Christmas Day, we enjoyed a Christmas dinner in a charming pavilion. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic!

A very disappointing Christmas brunch. Definitely not worth €39 per person. The staff does try their best, though.

Christmas Day: €40 per person Christmas brunch, but it felt like the deep fryer was the chef. Croquettes, snacks, everything seemed to have come straight from the fat. If this is supposed to be a Christmas brunch, the only things missing were the tray and the break bell from the school cafeteria. The flavors weren't very exciting, and the Christmas spirit was nonexistent. For this price, you really should expect more.

The tasting menu is generous, varied, and well-structured: from starters to main courses and desserts, everything is beautifully presented on the platter. You'll definitely want for nothing. The price-quality ratio is perfect: €15 per person for this extensive lunch. Be sure to try the specialty coffees. We had the cold cappuccino and white chocolate, and it was without a doubt the best we've ever had—we would come back for that alone. The presentation of the food and drinks is excellent. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, and we were kindly allowed to take any food we didn't finish with us. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with lots of greenery and a pleasant atmosphere. Even the restroom is nice (be sure to press the red button 😉). From the restaurant, you have a view of the lake. In the summer, there's also a terrace and a small beach—clearly a place you can spend the whole day. Suitable for all types of groups: couples, families, groups of friends, and larger groups. There's also a private parking space, which is also very convenient. We will definitely come back here again and again.

We thoroughly enjoyed the spareribs and the burger. We were in a bit of a hurry, so it was nice to be noticed. When everything was on our table, we thought, "Phew, how are we ever going to finish this?" Despite being very hungry, we had to leave a lot behind. I don't know about other guests, but if a lot of food gets thrown away, you might consider reducing the portions or asking for their preferences. We had fries, potato wedges, and mashed potatoes. Too much for us, but it was delicious. Good service and a pleasant atmosphere.

After more than 10 years, the first reunion of our former photography group. We ordered the shared lunch. I thought it was fantastic! More than enough for everyone! I especially enjoyed the tomato soup, the croquette, and the mini hamburger. We also got a great spot along the wall, in a long line. It was my first time there. Born and raised in HGV but moved out. I'd only been there during the "suckhole" era. I think it's fun to sit with you all year round. Thanks, I think our whole group enjoyed it.

We wanted to have dinner at Paviljoen Nijstad this evening after a positive lunch experience. Once we arrived, we were able to order a drink and were asked if we'd like to see the menu. We wanted to see the menu because we wanted to eat something. However, it turned out to be difficult to bring a menu. The waitress came by with two menus, but we didn't receive them. They came by frequently afterward, but we weren't given any attention. After half an hour, we finally reported that we still hadn't received a menu from someone else. The menus were brought promptly. They said they would speak to the waitress about it. After this, we waited another long time, and the waitress came by again, smiling slightly but not asking any questions. No apology was forthcoming, after waiting almost 45 minutes. We made good use of our free table by making a reservation elsewhere. We'd just arrived at Van der Valk, where they certainly know how to treat guests. So, if you want good food and good service, don't go to Nijstad and choose a good place like Van der Valk.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed at a beautiful location and quickly received the menu. After five minutes, someone came to our table, but the staff kept pushing us until we made a choice. After ordering, the rib-eye arrived first, ordered medium-rare but served medium-well. There were no steak knives, making it difficult to cut. The burgers arrived five minutes later, and they were very meager at €21. Meanwhile, our glasses sat empty for almost half an hour before we were asked if we wanted anything else to drink. The table was cleared, we weren't asked if we wanted dessert, and the manager practically shouted throughout the restaurant... on several occasions... high prices, low quantity.

For a staff outing, we were placed in a hideous attic. The game was terrible and the staff member didn't execute it well. Drinks were only provided after we specifically requested them. Absolutely not fun.

We enjoyed delicious coffee and lunch there; the toasted sandwiches were perfect. We went again this week for dinner, and everything was excellent again.

Unfortunately, another disappointing experience. Shortly after coffee, we ordered a salmon toasted sandwich. We waited a little over half an hour because there were two other people at another table. Perhaps they couldn't handle the pressure. We asked one of the waiters if the order had gone through. "Yes, it had," he said, "but he would check anyway." Fifteen minutes later, the same waiter came back to tell us, "Sorry, the kitchen doesn't open until 11:00." He didn't ask if we'd like anything else. He walked away. To our surprise, just before we were about to leave—this was also at least 15 to 20 minutes after the waiter's message—someone arrived with two salmon toasted sandwiches. It wasn't even close to 11:00, so why now? We were already prepared to leave and told them the kitchen wouldn't open until 11:00, so we didn't know any better. This young man, who was supposed to inquire, walked away with the toasted sandwiches, and we never saw him again. When we were paying, we mentioned this to the cashier. The only empathy we heard was her saying she would take care of the two young waiters. There was absolutely no customer-engaging attitude. She then continued with her work, as two more guests had arrived in the meantime. I find it very disappointing, and also typical, that no apology was offered, for example, "We'll pay for one cup of coffee," or a discount on the final price, or "We'll do better on your next visit." The cashier listened but didn't hear us. A missed opportunity!

After visiting several wedding venues, we chose Paviljoen Nijstad for our wedding. A beautiful setting on a small beach, the ceremony on a jetty in the water, and the option to dine both indoors and outdoors. This suited us perfectly, as opposed to perhaps a more classic venue like a small castle or just a hall. The support and input during the preliminary process were excellent. Our contact person was always easily accessible and responded proactively by phone and/or email. This allowed us to come to a good set of agreements, and the contact person also provided excellent guidance in making choices and advising us on what to do and what not to do. This was incredibly helpful, as we obviously didn't have much experience with weddings :) They also gave us plenty of room to incorporate our own wishes. For example, they allowed us to hire a fresh pizza maker, have a band perform, and arrange other entertainment on the day itself. They also allowed us to further customize the venue to our liking with the help of their own stylist. On the day itself, the support and service from Paviljoen Nijstad were truly outstanding. Glasses were constantly full, empties were removed efficiently, and snacks and other items were frequently passed around. Both the delicious food and other treats were plentiful. The band and DJ's technology seamlessly integrated with Paviljoen Nijstad's, resulting in a perfect party. All in all, a great preparation and an excellent day itself. We highly recommend Paviljoen Nijstad for your wedding.

Great place, beautiful location with delicious food and friendly service. One small point for improvement: more attention to the tables. Food is neatly served and the staff is friendly, but they don't ask if you'd like another drink or if everything is to your liking. It was also a very busy evening, and it was wonderful to see how the staff worked together like a well-oiled machine. If the staff felt more responsible for their own tables, the experience would be absolutely fantastic.

Beautiful location with delicious food

This is truly a destination you'll want to revisit. Situated on a beautiful lake with woods for shade and numerous sandy beaches for children. It's also an ideal destination for children, whether it's on the beach, in the water, enjoying fries or ice cream, and so on. The ice cream sorbet was delicious and served in a special bowl, not a sorbet glass—a real change of pace, fantastic. The surroundings are so beautiful that you have to swallow twice to realize it's actually there.
