This place is a hidden gem! The chicken was perfectly spiced, smoky, and juicy, and it had just the right hint of sweetness. Everything felt homemade, and the vibe was laid-back and warm, just like you’d expect from a Caribbean spot. Will definitely be back to try the oxtail stew next time!

5 stars – and one extra for the Pink Flamingo 🍹 What a great evening at Plato Loco! Enjoyed delicious Caribbean dishes, a cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff with colleagues on Friday. The Pink Flamingo cocktail was a favorite – dangerously delicious - and the cherry on top of the pineapple cake: a nice shot with the staff at the end! The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was great and the staff so nice that we almost took them to the office. We will definitely be back. 💃🍹🌴

Lovely restaurant, very cosy and good food. When the weather is nice, nice outside. Great service. Been there several times now and every time good.

While we were eating, the table was already being cleared. We were asked 3 times if they could take something with them while there was still food in the containers and we still had meat on our plates. The main course was already brought during the starter. We were still eating and the plates were taken away and the fries were already on the table. We felt very rushed because of this and that creates an unpleasant atmosphere.

The food was excellent, as was the wine. Unfortunately, the portions were a bit small.

The food was decent, but definitely underwhelming for the price. We were also asked to leave immediately after finishing our meal, even though we were still enjoying our drinks. This was despite having a reservation with no mention of any time limit.

Had dinner yesterday and it was a very nice experience. The restaurant is cozy, atmospheric and beautiful. The staff is incredibly nice, hospitable and open, chatting and laughing with you! The service is great, the food was on the table quickly. The food itself was tasty, had a mixed starter where you could taste a bit of everything. The sauces here are very tasty! The main course was the chicken, which was also tasty. The accompanying rice was also full of flavor and was delicious in combination with the salad we had with it. All in all we had a very pleasant evening with delicious food!

We are so lucky to have found this little Gem tucked away in F. Hendrikplantsoen. My nice took us there for an early dinner. Amazing food. Don't forget to try the corn Fritters. Great staff. Great atmosphere Great food Great price. Certainly off the tourist track, which made it even better.

On average I don't get more than 2 stars. Below are the reasons To eat: If you know real Caribbean food and have eaten it before, it doesn't taste Caribbean. The Jamaican jerk chicken just tasted like roasted chicken with soy sauce. Not at all the spicy accent of the real Jamaican jerk chicken. Same goes for the spareribs, it was just sweet. The oxtail was tasty. And the side dishes were tasty. The cocktails are fantastic!!! Service: The service was initially super friendly. But suddenly super rushed. We were asked if we wanted to pay this way and we answered no, we wanted to see the dessert menu. Then they came back with the bill to which we said we were still drinking. She didn't respond. We just had to leave, they had that attitude. So downright rude. Realm: Pleasant, nice music. Very tight

There's very limited seating so definitely book a reservation; they were fully booked inside, so seated us outside. This was fine, it wasn't raining, but we did have to wait for the waiter to come to us and the food got colder quicker. Two of us had the jerk chicken; one with rice and the other with sweet potato fries. The other person in our party had the tropical veggie- this changes weekly- which turned out to be a Thai style curry made with aubergine and chickpeas. It had a good hit of spice and the chickpeas were cooked well, but the aubergine wasn't. It was good overall but we have been to better carribean restaurants in the UK.

Once brought along by a friend and since then it has become my second home. The food is top notch, the service is super nice and pleasant and of course the atmosphere is amazing.

Cozy atmosphere, lovely staff and delicious food 💛

I started coming to plato loco about two years ago and last night was the first time the food amount has been inconsistent. I got a very small dry piece of fish. The texture also of the rice wasn't the best. A bit too sticky and chunky and overall the food was less than what is normally on the plate. Lastly, what happened to the Caribbean salad that came with the meal? Now its a tablespoon of some cabbage and one strand of carrot. I think you need to go back to original standards. It's slipping a bit

El sábado 25 de enero de 2025 mi esposa y yo visitamos Plato Loco Caribbean Cuisine, en su cumpleaños y torbellino viaje de 2 días a Amsterdam. Visitamos muchos lugares y esto fue de lejos uno de los puntos culminantes de nuestra escapada urbana. La comida era increíble, el personal encantador (no podía hacer lo suficiente para nosotros! ) y el restaurante tenía un gran ambiente. Nuestra comida fue fabulosamente presentada por el chef y tenía un sabor maravilloso, todo el equipo fue más allá para hacernos sentir especiales. Sin duda recomendaría este restaurante y 100% de revisita, si alguna vez volvemos a Amsterdam.

I ate out with my boyfriend, who had been craving the famous Jerk Chicken main course, while I was absolutely craving the Oxtail Stew! For starters, we got the empanadas and jerk chicken. Our reservation was at 18:45, and we originally had until 20:00, but due to traffic, we arrived about 15 minutes late. Despite that, we still got a table, and they even gave us an extra 30 minutes, allowing us to stay until 20:30—such a kind and generous gesture (plus points!). My boyfriend and I have absolutely no complaints. We loved the vibe, the people, and, of course, the food! In my opinion, this place is a solid 10000/10. And Suzanne (I hope I’m spelling your name right), you are an absolute sweetheart—such a super nice server! We will definitely come again!

The 3rd time we ate again, everything was delicious. My eyes were bigger than my stomach so I ordered extra fish to take with me, delicious! The service is top notch! Just a wonderful warm energy! Fixed price so I'll be back soon!

One star as the owner needs to learn to listen to feedback. When you close the kitchen at 9pm, inform your customers that have arrived 30 minutes ago. The one star is not related to the time the kitchen closes, but about the manner and the rudeness of the owner when we shared our feedback. Rather than that, tasty food, reasonable prices, nice decoration.

Quite tight... and limited reservations. But that's really the only thing ;) this place never dissapoints!

Such a delightful little restaurant! The food was tasty yet the (side) rice was a bit dry. The chicken specialty was delicious, the oxtail stew was tasty but a tiny bit disappointing portion wise. AMAZING! During our stay in Amsterdam, my boyfriend and I chose this place for dinner. Even though it was quite late (around 9pm) they welcomed us with a smile. The food is truly excellent, well balanced flavors and very well prepared dishes. The environment is warm and relaxing, excellent for a dinner for two. The service was very quick and the girl very kind. For 2 main dishes, 2 cokes and 1 dessert we spent 55 euros: excellent quality/price ratio.

Llegamos alrededor de las 9 de la noche sin haber reservado tan tarde. El restaurante está en una calle muy tranquila en Amsterdam, que es muy agradable, especialmente teniendo en cuenta lo ocupado que está Amsterdam! Nos recibieron con una sonrisa, un ambiente encantador y nos mostraron una mesa donde sentarnos. La sensación en el restaurante era encantadora, las luces no eran brillantes ni oscuras simplemente perfecto (esa sensación cálida) Pedí el plato de pollo idiota y mi señora el plato de sopa de garbanzos. Al principio, nuestros ojos abultaban de emoción y nuestras papilas gustativas también. Ambos platos venían con arroz y plátano frito. La única pequeña desventaja era que el plátano estaba ligeramente frío, pero estamos excelentes de todos modos! Pedimos entonces el flan de coco como postre y no esperábamos que nos dejaran boquiabiertos, ¡quedó tan cremoso una vez que te lo metiste en la boca! 2 platos principales 1 agua 1 coca y 1 postre 55 euros! ! El camarero era muy agradable y el chef hizo un gran trabajo, sin duda volver!

Delicious food, nice atmosphere and excellent service. When I told them that we were coming to celebrate 10 years together, we received our food with such a nice ice fountain. The food is really tasty and not overpoweringly hot, which you would expect from jerk. I really recommend it.

Following the many positive reviews on Google, we went out for dinner at Plato Loco. We really enjoyed this the first time. It is a small and cozy restaurant, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. The food tasted good, especially the chicken, which was really tender and well grilled. We will definitely come back again.

Ik ben hier nu 2 keer geweest en beide keren was het echt super! Je merkt echt dat het eten allemaal vers gemaakt is. En eigenlijk is alles dat ze serveren heel erg lekker, van de starters tot de mains tot de sides en de cocktails. De empanadas (voorgerecht) zou ik ook zeker aanraden. Het restaurant zelf is niet heel groot, maar heel sfeervol en cozy. En de bediening is super vriendelijk. Ik ga hier zeker weer terugkomen.

We had empanadas, fried cod croquettes and avocado salad as an appetizer. All great, but the avocado salad was a bit boring on its own. Main course jerk chicken and a whole sea bream. Both also absolutely great. I ordered sweet potato fries instead of rice. The fish did contain rice, unfortunately it comes from a rice cooker which will keep the rice warm all evening or will be heated up quickly, making the rice soggy and sticky. I recommend all restaurants to either make fresh rice (which is quite a hassle, of course) or, like the Asians, prepare the rice a day in advance and then heat it. Response to owner: Thanks for the response. Since most restaurants that make rice use a large rice cooker, the rice is often sticky and soggy after an hour. The rice continues to steam itself without being turned on by the heat. Asians make the rice a day in advance and then fry it in a wok like "fried rice", by making it a day in advance and letting it cool and then putting it in the refrigerator for a day, the rice stays dry and you can bake it the next day and add other ingredients.

Very nice and helpful service! Already ate at this place 1-2 years ago and was already very tasty. Remembered the restaurant when I came back to Amsterdam and had very delicious food once again. I can't rate it the best but it seems for me as very authentic food as well. Will definitely come back to try the oxtail stew. Food is a 10/10, service and atmosphere as well

I went for dinner with my children, ages 7 and 5. The food was delicious! The oxtail stew was to die for so delicious! The service was great, she even moved 2 wasps for us with a cup and cloth. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Food was delicious, fish of the day. I got sea bream with a side dish, rice and maduros, and French fries as an extra. Food arrived quickly, price-quality ratio was top. Everything was good. However, you do pay 6.50 per hour for parking, but that is of course something that the restaurant cannot do anything about, but it is certainly worth it.
