Pom Lai in Wijk 05 Geleen

Ordered from Pom Lai for the first time tonight. A large order that was neatly delivered to my home in Sittard. It was delicious! Good quality, the taste was delicious, portions were just right! Thanks!

The food was exquisite, but the atmosphere in the restaurant: we ended up finding Chinese 'Pling-Plong' music on Spotify ourselves and putting it on. (No reaction when they came to the table, by the way). Since there is a constant coming and going of 'takeaway customers', the phone is being answered the whole time (from 6 meters away): we heard every order, and it was so loud that we wondered if the customers in the village couldn't hear her too if she opened the front door. Then the hatch to the kitchen would open every time, and the order would be shouted over there in Chinese. No, in terms of atmosphere (typical 80s decor), this is not the place to be, but the food was absolutely exquisite. Takeaway highly recommended!

Previously I always ordered from there and it always went okay. Today, after just over an hour, I called for an update. They had to wait for the delivery person and then it would arrive. After more than 2 hours, the delivery person finally walked up at a snail's pace from a completely different street. The satay was mixed with the vegetables, so personally, I couldn't eat that anymore. Normally, satay is always put in a separate cup. The rest of the food was a bit lacking in flavor. For us, this was definitely the last time we ordered from there. I'd rather go pick it up myself one village further away.

May 9, 2026, the rematch; they were simply entitled to it, based on the previous review. We ordered nasi rames pom lai and bami rames pom lai, excellent. Lindeboom non-alcoholic too. We sat in the restaurant, good atmosphere, polite service. Now it is the best Chinese-Indonesian restaurant in the city, keep up the good work. The original pom lai was once one of the best in the Netherlands. I saw the Pei Kwat has been taken off the menu. Picked up for Christmas 2025. Chinese rijsttafel, item Pei Kwat: nasty filthy inedible pure soy sauce sludge, thrown away immediately. Rest of the rijsttafel OK. Communicated with the restaurant immediately and advised them to remove this item from the menu. Apparently they complied. That does them credit. Now just need to fix the toilet flush button, pushing the pin in instead of pulling.

We ordered food, had a delicious meal, more than enough, nice and hot, highly recommended. Next time I'll take photos to go with it 👌

Well-maintained Chinese restaurant. Lots of takeaway customers picking up their orders. I ordered and ate on the spot; friendly service, and the food was very good. According to local media, this Chinese restaurant is ranked number one as the best restaurant. Definitely worth a repeat visit.

I have my doubt this is the best Chinese restaurant in Limburg like its website claims, I have tasted better and more authentic Chinese food in Maastricht, but I'm glad when I'm lazy to cook Chinese food myself this one is within walking distance for my access. Friendly Cashier. Fast service.

Delicious food and it was delivered on time! We will definitely order/takeout again. I wanted to give it 4.5 stars because there's always room for improvement, but unfortunately, that's not possible.

I ordered noodles with curried shrimp and chow siu. However, instead of chow siu, the dish contained pieces of duck, chicken, and a piece of kitchen utensil. It couldn't be worse.

I know from experience that you used to get delicious takeout food here, but that's gone by the wayside. I've rarely, if ever, experienced such disgusting food (after a few bites, everything went in the trash). The nasi was soggy/wet and had virtually no filling (aside from mushy rice). The babi pangang was in small pieces and tasted very foul (old). The prawn crackers were in 20 pieces/crumbs in a bag. Then there was the staff: extremely stressed, chaotic, and rude to customers they were talking to on the phone. What a disaster! Now I remember why I'm a regular customer in Elsloo. Never again Pom Lai!

Terrible food. Absolutely outrageous for the price. The food was completely overcooked, the noodles were a mess and tasteless. Boiled porridge with no vegetables or filling. Awful experience and a waste of money. Totally not recommended.

The boss lady is very welcoming. You can order in Chinese or ask the boss to make what you want. Very nice

Just discovered that they also deliver, so far twice a family menu for four people, each time a different menu, both very tasty, hot and on time. We will enjoy this service more often!!

Called on time at 4:30 PM to order. Home delivery was no longer possible (New Year's Day), so I picked it up myself. When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty!!! Babi pangang lukewarm and tasteless, chicken/kerry was fine, vegetarian nasi, almost no vegetables, a little egg. Satay sauce tasteless, pangsit very little filling. Overall; little flavor, lots of binding agent. After more than 40 years we don't go anymore!!!!

Was a good restaurant. I now read that there is a different owner and therefore also a different chef. After receiving the wrong order 3 times with the only solution being that I had to come back and exchange it myself, it is all over for me. Very poor service and the quality of the food has deteriorated terribly. Unfortunately, they don't seem to care because even after a complaint saying they will be contacted, I haven't heard anything from them. There are better restaurants in the region......

Food can be called lukewarm, not really hot. When you order prawn crackers you get a pathetic little bag of prawn crackers, babi pangang is lukewarm, not really hot. The spring roll mainly consists. From bean sprouts with a little bit of meat and a little bit of egg. No, it is no longer necessary for me. Severely unsatisfactory.

This is my favorite place to get Chinese because it always tastes good!

Ordered food on site and didn't have to wait long

The food is tasty and good. The rest of the environment is not that great. Dirty tablecloths and broken napkins, very shabby. The service is not very attentive, we had to order the second drink ourselves. We didn't have a dessert, we waited a while but they didn't give us the dessert menu. Too bad, the food was good but otherwise very disappointing!

They do not respect silent hours during night, they often have parties, playing loud music during nights when other people are going to work in the morning!!!

Had a rice table with payquad but unfortunately the payquad was a lot of soy sauce and the meat was not really tender, rather tough unfortunately they could not eat it here unfortunately the price has become more expensive and the quality is less and winey meat

Lekkere Indische rijsttafel gegeten. Vriendelijke bediening. Jammer dat de vele mensen die eten afhalen steeds langs je tafel lopen. Dat is het enige minpuntje. Rest toppie!

Truly the best Chinese restaurant in Limburg. Great selection of food and drinks. Clean and tidy environment. Good ambience in the restaurant. Eat in take away available. Tasty food with English and Dutch menu available. Toilets is usable. They have kids menu on the list with wine, beer and soft drinks also. I didn't notice a wheel chair access at front door.

Dit was altijd de allerbeste chinees van Geleen en verre omstreken. Nu blijkbaar overgenomen en dat merk je helaas direct aan de kwaliteit van het eten…

Prima afhaal Chinees, goed weekmenu voor €25,- waar je met 2 man 2 dagen van kan eten. Vraag mij af hoe het zo goedkoop kan.

Het eten was veel te zoutig. Driekwartier later proef ik nog steeds het zout op mijn lippen. Jammer, omdat ik normaal zoutloos dieet heb, was een beetje zout niet zo erg geweest, maar dit was teveel zout

Het eten viel ontzettend tegen..de rendang was niet te eten..de rest mier zoet.

Het is niet meer de kwaliteit wat ik gewent was van de vorige eigenaar. Eten smaakt meer naar tomatenpuree en zeker geen Chinese smaak.

Mediocre at best. We ordered quite a few dishes for take out. When we went to collect our order, it turned out a dish was missing. Instead of making things right, the person handling the order decided to start an argument and insisted on checking their order. Only to be embarrassed by coming to the conclusion that part of the order was missing. The food itself was bland and unremarkable. Plenty of other options in town so wouldn’t go back here

Chaos bij afhalen. Ongeorganiseerd en daardoor lange wachttijden. Het bestelde eten staat koud te worden omdat drie (!!!!) medewerkers achter de balie de bestellingen en afrekeningen niet verwerkt krijgen. De keuken leverde best snel maar achter de balie ging veel fout. Zeker geen aanrader om in het restaurant te dineren. Dat heeft te maken met een rij afhalers in het restaurant, afhalers die in en uit lopen en het rumoer van de baliemedewerkers. Het afgehaalde eten smaakte overigens wel lekker. In andere restaurants, zoals het oude Pom Lai, ben ik beter gewend maar het eten niet echt slecht te noemen. Kan bij lange na niet tippen aan Pom Lai onder de vorige eigenaar. Middelmatig dus.

Het wel jammer, we hebben kerst menu gehaald (56€)gerechten met 7garnalen🤣tang vis gerecht gaat wel met smaal nasi & bami jajaja ik begrijp het wel dat situatie alles duur is, maar ik verwacht wel moet goed kwaliteit zijn met de prijst het is jammer hehe smaak gaat wel, ik hoop dat nieuw eigenaar zal iets anders doen? Prijst om hoog gaan! Het is begrijpelijk, maar kwaliteit????? Erg achter uit hopelijk veel suc6 🍀nog fijne kerstdagen

Laatste keer was goed. Nu was de nasi niet lekker, het vlees in de nasi ondefinieerbaar, de Foujong hay en het kipgerecht niet lekker. De mensen zijn heel vriendelijk, maar ik kom hier voor het eten. Heel jammer.

Ken het al zeg 40 jaar. Nooit meer geëvenaard door andere Chinezen. Pom Lai is de benchmark. Het personeel onderling gaat achter de bar niet aardig met elkaar om. Daar hoef je geen mandarijn voor te spreken. Mevrouw is gestressed, andere meneer erg nerveus. Samen maken ze ruzie?

Hier kom ik al meer dan 30 jaar Chinees halen, top Chinees.

Onbeperkt Dim Sum gegeten. Goed, lekker, origineel, gevarieerde keuze. Vriendelijk personeel. Soms duurt het even voor het lijstje meegenomen wordt. Tafels voor coronatijd voor mij te dicht op elkaar. Het in en uit lopen van afhaalklanten is storend. Daarbij het geroep welk afhaalmenu klaar is. Ook de tocht van de telkens opengaande deur is niet prettig. Al met al een restaurant met afhaalmogelijkheid in dezelfde ruimte is niet ideaal.

Net de kantonese rijsttafel gehaald. Een tegenvaller. In het gerecht met garnalen met pepersaus zaten 6 garnaaltjes en de rest taugé, taugé en nog eens taugé. Bij het gerecht varkensvlees met ketjapsaus is de saus zo waterig dat het net soep is. Gerecht met ossenhaas is net groentesoep. Nee voor mij niet meer. Jammer.

Vorige week voor het eerst gegeten in het restaurant. We genoten van de dim sum avond, alle gerechtjes zijn met aandacht klaar gemaakt en smaakten super. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk en neemt de tijd voor persoonlijke aandacht. Wij gaan hier absoluut vaker komen.

Heerlijke maaltijden en vriendelijk personeel. Ideaal voor afhalen of te eten in het restaurant.

Wat een aangename verrassing....heel persoonlijke bediening en werkelijk zéér lekker gegeten! Bovendien een prachtige sfeervolle zaak, ze hebben terecht het predicaat "beste Chinees van Limburg" gekregen!!

Heerlijk gegeten , fijne bediening een echte aanrader we komen zeker terug
