It's an unassuming chip shop with the most delicious fries I've ever eaten. Super crispy, well-seasoned, simply delicious.

You don't need to come here for a cheese soufflé. They don't have them. You have to like the fries they serve. They are fries with the skin on. I personally don't really like that. The snacks we had were fine.

Fantastic shop. Great products, freshly prepared. If you're looking for a truly excellent quality snack bar, this is the place. Unbeatable value for money in De Koog.

Unfriendly!!! Not friendly at all!! The ordering system is confusing and unfortunately only in Dutch. Yes, I'm in the Netherlands, but even in Malaysia you could order in English. I asked the man in English how it worked because the system wasn't functioning, and he just said "Netherlands." Then he spoke to the other customers in English. The problem is, I understand some Dutch, and he then said some unpleasant things about me to his colleague. On top of that, I waited over 40 minutes for my food. For three fries and a Frikandel Special. I've been coming to Texel for years, and I've never experienced anything so outrageous. Never again!

Best fries on the island? As far as I'm concerned, yes; delicious flavor, and then the Brander mayo on the side. You don't need anything more. Order at a kiosk, take a pager, and when it's ready, it goes off.

The fries were mostly okay, but unfortunately, they were mixed with older fries, so some were rock hard. Otherwise, everything was fine. The price was especially good: 6 frikandel specials and a bag of fries for €34. At the competitor in Tuurveld, we paid €54. Pommes Paul is recommended!

Friets are good. But avoid the burgers, they do not know how to cook a steak. It's a self service so not much to say about service (you litteraly do everything yourself, order on the screen, take your table, come get your food, clean the tables afterwards).

A quick and tasty snack near the main car park and gas station in De Koog. Unfortunately, no Joppy sauce.

On the last evening, I got some takeaway. The fries and frikandel were very good. I actually ordered a fully loaded fries with chicken and a spicy sauce. What a night, and what a drive home! I don't want to go into too much detail, but I was on the toilet a lot, which made the journey home take forever. And almost 24 hours later, I'm still burping about it.

I got a loaded beef fries here today. Fresh fries, delicious cuts of meat. Oh my god, so tasty, highly recommended, definitely worth repeating. You really have to get this!!!!

The fries themselves were good. But since when is the curry, ketchup, and onions put in the container first, and then the frikadel is just dumped on top?? It tasted exactly like the cardboard container! Oh right, a little smile from the staff wouldn't hurt either; I'm paying enough for it after all!

They have 1 self service ordering machine and despite seeing a long queue didn't bother opening the manned counter. After waiting in the queue for 10 min, they then put out a board that it will take 30 min. Amazing for a fast food place, they should hire more staff to make ordering experience better. We eventually left without ordering.

I bought the Family Box at Pommes Paul. Even with six of us, we couldn't finish it all. The taste is amazing. Not your standard fries, but something completely different (thick fries with the skin on). The kids loved it! 😀 The only downside is the wait time, which can be up to 30 minutes during peak hours (due to the large number of customers). And watch out for the seagulls. They like fries too! 😉

The quality of the food shows that skill and good ingredients are present. It's just the process of getting there that's unnecessarily complicated. Almost 40 minutes passed as we observed a strange ritual: customers stood in front of touchpads, navigated through menus, and tried to coax their desired order out of the machine. Direct contact between employees and customers is practically nonexistent. People no longer speak to each other, but communicate almost exclusively with a screen. For a fast-food restaurant, this is a strange feeling—a place where interaction and speed should be paramount. It seemed like every third customer was overwhelmed by the system. Perhaps a voice-activated, AI-powered ordering system would be worth considering: You simply say what you want, and the technology does the rest. This could speed up the process and give staff more time for genuine interaction with guests. Given the number of visitors, the question also arises whether more staff behind the counter wouldn't be necessary. Four extra pairs of hands could help manage the flow of hungry customers more effectively. A windbreak in the outdoor area would also be a sensible addition, given Texel's typical winds. So, the overall impression is mixed: The food is excellent, but the process feels unnecessarily complicated and impersonal. Vacation days are precious, and a nearly 40-minute wait for fast food is hard to justify. We leave with a delicious taste but also the feeling of a somewhat Kafkaesque ordering process – and will probably choose a different place on our next visit to Texel.

Snack bar in an easily accessible location, for takeout and local food. Portions are large and reasonably priced, but above all, very tasty.

Anyone who wants to eat really delicious, fresh fries absolutely has to stop by Pommes Paul. The snack bar is located on the edge of the village of De Koog. You can sit outside and enjoy the tasty food. You order inside, and you get a buzzer that sounds when your food is ready for pickup. We were there with two children and our dog, who was also welcome. Two orders of special fries and two special frikandels made for a satisfying second dinner for the four of us (two adults and two children, ages 2 and 4). It was our first visit to Pommes Paul, but certainly not our last. Very tasty, very friendly, and excellent value for money! 👌👍

We spontaneously grabbed a quick bite here. You can order at the counter either at a terminal or simply tell the employee what you'd like. We ordered the classic frikandel with fries. After ordering, you get a buzzer. Even though it was busy, we were able to pick up our food in less than ten minutes. The frikandel, as well as the fries made from homemade potatoes, were delicious.

Very slow service, and two items we ordered/requested weren't prepared. The portion sizes were also rather small, but the food was still tasty. UPDATE: One year later, things are quite different. This time it was much faster. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes for five main courses plus snacks. There's also now an ordering terminal at the checkout, which is very convenient. Therefore, I'm now giving it four stars.

Great chip shop! You order at a terminal, pay by card, and then you get a buzzer, just like at Vapiano. The weather was fantastic, and we were able to wait outside. The fries were delicious. Definitely a good place to go. I imagine it can take a long time during peak hours.

This chip shop has completely missed the mark. They don't understand the game of a cafeteria; waiting times are dramatically long, hygiene is substandard, and there are only hard chunks at the bottom of the container, so at one point my children thought they were eating chips instead of fresh fries, and all this at a high price too. It's a shame, it could be so much better.

We waited over 40 minutes for our fries. They were tasty, but the portion was small, even though we ordered a large one. We ate in outside. The atmosphere was very tense. Everyone was waiting impatiently for their food.

First place I go when I arrive on Texel.

The organization in particular is disastrous; the ordering process via the terminal and wireless receivers with order numbers is also cumbersome, and multiple people are having trouble with it. They completely forgot about our order and waited over an hour for fries!!! I had to show the bank statement proving we had paid. They couldn't see what had been ordered either.

You need patience during peak times (25 to 30 minutes waiting time), but the fries made from fresh potatoes are worth it.

The quality is very high for a "chip shop", the food is delicious and quite reasonably priced compared to the usual prices on Texel.

Haute friture, no way... During my visit, the restaurant was staffed by a (Polish?) employee who only knew a few basic Dutch words and kept shouting "English please!" at everyone. Because of that, my order was wrong. Instead of two vegetable croquettes, I ended up with one crock-ut... The fries were fried too long and too hard, resulting in a lot of hard, dark grit and completely burnt bits. The portion sizes were also disappointing. The conversations at the counter were entertaining, though. "One hogweed?" "Yes, we have beer," "No, hogweed," "English please," "Little slices of meatball on a stick."

Very limited snack options and very unfriendly staff. My friend asked for a meatball. He was told, "Which meatball? Is it on the menu?" Then he asked for a snack. The same answer again: "Is it on the menu?" Cash payment isn't possible because "we're not on land." They also don't understand the concept of a cup of mayonnaise; they just throw some in the fries.

Fresh fries like these are rare! I really don't understand the complaints about the wait time! If I want quick, uninspired fries, I'll go to McDonald's. Here you get a fantastic, super fresh, and delicious product! Very clean place, friendly staff, and truly great fries! The vegetarian and crab croquettes were amazing! Highly recommended! We'll be back!

Paul's Fries is a real insider tip for every Texel visitor. The fries are made from fresh potatoes – crispy, golden brown, and simply delicious. An exceptional snack bar with a large outdoor terrace. We were delighted with the homemade French fries and their own burger creations. As mentioned several times in other comments, the wait times for eating in are rather unreasonable. That's a shame! But it's still worth a visit.

I had high expectations for this restaurant. I really wanted to visit Ordeland but unfortunately they do not allow dogs inside so their next door fry shop sounded like a nice option for a take-out night. The waiting time is long, which is something that wouldn't have a problem if the end result was worth it. We had Stew Loaded Fries. Nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. The fries were fine and the stew was good. The meat was tender but again nothing special or different in terms of flavour. We also had a cheeseburger - which they should rename Pickleburger - and here lies the issue. The cheese was barely there but there was an obscene amount of sour pickles. But the problem was the meat. It was dry and almost chewy. If felt disrespectful to the local products and the high standards they claim to have. We were disappointed and doubt we will try out the main restaurant in the future

We were on vacation on Texel. Well, what should I write now? Umm, They were the BEST fries I've ever eaten in my life, my husband says so too.

We have been going to Texel for 6 years and have always enjoyed going to Pommes Paul. This year, however, we are very disappointed. When there is a long queue at the door, there is a sign saying that the wait is 30 minutes; that has always been the case and that is fine. Yesterday we only had 2 customers in front of us and had to wait 45 minutes for 2 cheeseburgers with fries. Customers who came after us sometimes received their orders after 10 minutes. When we asked about it, two young employees insulted us and said that everything was done in order here. Several guests who had already finished their food confirmed that we were there before theirs, but the staff were introverted and did not realize this. When we got home, we noticed that we had a bucket from other customers in our bag; those poor people must have been waiting hours for their food too. The quality of the food was unfortunately very poor and poorly prepared. Unfortunately, the food served as a laxative for both of us. We will be giving Pommes Paul a wide berth in the next few years.

The cheeseburger and fries were okay, but not worth the 25-minute wait in a mediocre environment. I've rarely seen such a poorly coordinated team behind the counter. Everyone was only taking care of their own area and then just stood around while others were busy in theirs. The store is definitely not optimized for throughput.

Great snack bar with an exclusive atmosphere. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, a fellow countryman complained loudly about the wait today. A truly embarrassing moment, and everyone was glad when the loud customer left. The staff remained matter-of-fact, calm, and absolutely professional.

Waiting 50 minutes for your order is usually a sign that the food is excellent and therefore busy. However, the 40-minute wait is NOT due to the busyness, but to the staff. They are incredibly unmotivated and slow.

The food is very tasty, and there's a wide variety of dishes. However, you sometimes have to wait 20 minutes or more for your food, and by then your drink is either already empty or you get a warm Coke instead of a cold one. Unfortunately, there aren't enough seats for the crowd, and because there's a large trash container next to the seating units, most of the seats smell like it. Nevertheless, the food was very good!

Delicious food, and also the cheapest we found on the island. Be prepared to wait a bit, though, and be prepared to wait at the door.

Here, it feels like the potatoes are first harvested from the field, brought to the store, and then prepared. A 26-minute wait for a French fry from the moment the order is placed is outrageous. The fries taste really good, nothing to complain about, and the price is acceptable, not a tourist rip-off! Now, you could say that you should take things a little more relaxed on vacation—okay, that's true!—but to quickly order a French fry while passing by... and then have to wait 26 minutes... All in all, I won't be ordering anything like that again on vacation.

Because we'd been craving fries for a few days, we ordered here. Despite being busy, we received extremely friendly service. The staff clearly stated that the wait would be about 30 minutes. Ultimately, we received our food faster. Delicious loaded fries with beef stew, fries with a flavorful curry. Frikadellen (regular and special). All in all, we enjoyed it immensely; it was more than worth the price. I highly recommend it.

Dont know why they opened. 10 people before me waiting for their fries. Asked the guy to watch my food alarm because i had to fetch my waiting family. That is not possible so i had to take the alarm with me in my car. Pretty weired.

Super delicious fries. Unfortunately, only 4 out of 5 stars because we also ordered the churros. They should have only gotten one star because they come from the freezer. Also, they're fried in the same fryer as the fries and meatballs. On top of that, they have no taste at all. It's best to take them out of the menu. Otherwise, everything was really delicious, and we'd be happy to come back. 🚀🤤❤️🍟

The churros were fried in the same oil as the fries. This made them taste like greasy fries wrapped in churro dough. According to the menu—and my order—they were made with cinnamon and sugar, but there was a tiny dab of powdered sugar on top. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were fair, but unfortunately, we won't be eating here again.

We were there today and were looking forward to delicious fries. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The wait was too long and it was very disorganized. The employee licked his finger with mayo and didn't wash it afterward. Gloves weren't changed, and when one employee took a break, he touched dirty trash cans. Even without changing his gloves, the place would be shut down by the health department in Germany. And it's far too expensive. I'll never eat there again.
