Very limited snack options and very unfriendly staff. My friend asked for a meatball. He was told, "Which meatball? Is it on the menu?" Then he asked for a snack. The same answer again: "Is it on the menu?" Cash payment isn't possible because "we're not on land." They also don't understand the concept of a cup of mayonnaise; they just throw some in the fries.

Fresh fries like these are rare! I really don't understand the complaints about the wait time! If I want quick, uninspired fries, I'll go to McDonald's. Here you get a fantastic, super fresh, and delicious product! Very clean place, friendly staff, and truly great fries! The vegetarian and crab croquettes were amazing! Highly recommended! We'll be back!

An exceptional snack bar with a large outdoor terrace. We were delighted with the homemade French fries and their own burger creations. As mentioned several times in other comments, the wait times for eating in are rather unreasonable. That's a shame! But it's still worth a visit.

I had high expectations for this restaurant. I really wanted to visit Ordeland but unfortunately they do not allow dogs inside so their next door fry shop sounded like a nice option for a take-out night. The waiting time is long, which is something that wouldn't have a problem if the end result was worth it. We had Stew Loaded Fries. Nothing wrong with it but nothing special either. The fries were fine and the stew was good. The meat was tender but again nothing special or different in terms of flavour. We also had a cheeseburger - which they should rename Pickleburger - and here lies the issue. The cheese was barely there but there was an obscene amount of sour pickles. But the problem was the meat. It was dry and almost chewy. If felt disrespectful to the local products and the high standards they claim to have. We were disappointed and doubt we will try out the main restaurant in the future

We were on vacation on Texel. Well, what should I write now? Umm, They were the BEST fries I've ever eaten in my life, my husband says so too.

The cheeseburger and fries were okay, but not worth the 25-minute wait in a mediocre environment. I've rarely seen such a poorly coordinated team behind the counter. Everyone was only taking care of their own area and then just stood around while others were busy in theirs. The store is definitely not optimized for throughput.

We have been going to Texel for 6 years and have always enjoyed going to Pommes Paul. This year, however, we are very disappointed. When there is a long queue at the door, there is a sign saying that the wait is 30 minutes; that has always been the case and that is fine. Yesterday we only had 2 customers in front of us and had to wait 45 minutes for 2 cheeseburgers with fries. Customers who came after us sometimes received their orders after 10 minutes. When we asked about it, two young employees insulted us and said that everything was done in order here. Several guests who had already finished their food confirmed that we were there before theirs, but the staff were introverted and did not realize this. When we got home, we noticed that we had a bucket from other customers in our bag; those poor people must have been waiting hours for their food too. The quality of the food was unfortunately very poor and poorly prepared. Unfortunately, the food served as a laxative for both of us. We will be giving Pommes Paul a wide berth in the next few years.

Waiting 50 minutes for your order is usually a sign that the food is excellent and therefore busy. However, the 40-minute wait is NOT due to the busyness, but to the staff. They are incredibly unmotivated and slow.

The food is very tasty, and there's a wide variety of dishes. However, you sometimes have to wait 20 minutes or more for your food, and by then your drink is either already empty or you get a warm Coke instead of a cold one. Unfortunately, there aren't enough seats for the crowd, and because there's a large trash container next to the seating units, most of the seats smell like it. Nevertheless, the food was very good!

Great snack bar with an exclusive atmosphere. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, a fellow countryman complained loudly about the wait today. A truly embarrassing moment, and everyone was glad when the loud customer left. The staff remained matter-of-fact, calm, and absolutely professional.

Delicious food, and also the cheapest we found on the island. Be prepared to wait a bit, though, and be prepared to wait at the door.

Here, it feels like the potatoes are first harvested from the field, brought to the store, and then prepared. A 26-minute wait for a French fry from the moment the order is placed is outrageous. The fries taste really good, nothing to complain about, and the price is acceptable, not a tourist rip-off! Now, you could say that you should take things a little more relaxed on vacation—okay, that's true!—but to quickly order a French fry while passing by... and then have to wait 26 minutes... All in all, I won't be ordering anything like that again on vacation.

Inedible, after waiting an hour, I was given a sticky ball of grease called fries. Totally not recommended.

Because we'd been craving fries for a few days, we ordered here. Despite being busy, we received extremely friendly service. The staff clearly stated that the wait would be about 30 minutes. Ultimately, we received our food faster. Delicious loaded fries with beef stew, fries with a flavorful curry. Frikadellen (regular and special). All in all, we enjoyed it immensely; it was more than worth the price. I highly recommend it.

Super delicious fries. Unfortunately, only 4 out of 5 stars because we also ordered the churros. They should have only gotten one star because they come from the freezer. Also, they're fried in the same fryer as the fries and meatballs. On top of that, they have no taste at all. It's best to take them out of the menu. Dont know why they opened. 10 people before me waiting for their fries. Asked the guy to watch my food alarm because i had to fetch my waiting family. That is not possible so i had to take the alarm with me in my car. Pretty weired.

The churros were fried in the same oil as the fries. This made them taste like greasy fries wrapped in churro dough. According to the menu—and my order—they were made with cinnamon and sugar, but there was a tiny dab of powdered sugar on top. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were fair, but unfortunately, we won't be eating here again.

We were there today and were looking forward to delicious fries. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it. The wait was too long and it was very disorganized. The employee licked his finger with mayo and didn't wash it afterward. Gloves weren't changed, and when one employee took a break, he touched dirty trash cans. Even without changing his gloves, the place would be shut down by the health department in Germany. And it's far too expensive. I'll never eat there again.

Fries with skin on sounds interesting, but it isn't. The skin that was fried with the potatoes came from old ones. I cut off these unsightly skins when I cut the potatoes. But at Pommes Paul, the customer has to eat them. Whether the skin is healthy is irrelevant here, since this is fried food (according to the WHO, improper storage and excessively hot fat releases acrylamide). The cheese asoufflé had a very good flavor.

Service is friendly, food is okay. The fries are good but if you like them crispy, this is the wrong place. At peak times you wait 25 minutes for your order.

Very long waiting times which you could change immediately with a bit more common sense. They take orders as they come in. So if you have a huge order in front of you and the order is only 10 fries, the 11th fries will not be thrown into the fryer even though 15 portions of fries fit in there... an example to illustrate this. So first the 10 portions of fries are made, distributed and then they look at the note and find that Pommes Paul wants more fries. What a surprise. And now imagine the queue if you work like that all day... But they can take the money straight away, probably so that no one leaves in between. In conclusion, the fries are delicious, but the management is a complete disaster....

Perfection exists. I know it as "potatten met steof" (fries with stew), but here it's called "loaded fries." But these were truly good. Good, fresh fries, with beef stew just the way it should be. A Belgian would kill for this.

The goulash sauce was sour, the meat was tough. I don't have high culinary requirements, but we simply left most of the meat. Not our culinary style at all, although there was quite a lot of meat. The meatballs were really tasty. The fries were very good. The churros were very greasy, served with a lot of chocolate. Overall, rather disappointing, too bad.

Dear Pommes Paul! We've been coming here for years, and every year I try something new from the menu. But is it possible that you've reduced the menu? I can't find any pulled chicken anymore, and there are only three loaded fries options left. Weren't there even then? I thought your dishes were always special and made you something special on the island. It's a shame. Could it be that the portions have gotten a bit smaller? This time my fries were very dark and greasy, perhaps they weren't fried at the right temperature? That hardly ever happened to you in the past... The dishes don't seem as tastefully presented as they used to. It seems more like they're just doing the bare minimum. Oh, and it's a shame... I wish the old Pommes Paul was back, please, please! 🙏

The fries were tasty with good mayonnaise. Had to wait half an hour. It was also busy there. The appearance outside could be better.

The fries are cut directly from Texel potatoes and are accordingly delicious. The sauces are simply various types of mayonnaise; the "special" is mayo, curry ketchup, and chopped onions, so nothing special either. You sit outside on the sidewalk opposite the gas station, and the atmosphere is a bit like a motorway service station. Recommended for a quick portion of fries, but don't expect much more than that.

A line of people in front of the door upon arrival. Inside they were busy but the reggae music was super relaxing. After ordering it was a bit of a wait (about 30 minutes) but it was worth it. What delicious fries with the same mayonnaise. The pita bread with falafel and vegetables was also delicious! Price/quality completely okay! So highly recommended!

The fries tasted good but also not very delicious... we had ordered 3 large fries (without sauce) which was little... (we got sauce...) And I still don't know if the fries were organic...

Top. The guys are quick and very friendly. Don't let yourself be disturbed and ensure that it's not really fast food, but something with substance.

Delicious loaded fries with beef stew from Texel black angus beef at Pommes Paul, friendly help and we didn't have to wait long. We were there on a Sunday around dinner time, not in high season. Dined inside, there is also a large terrace for when it is a bit sunnier. The stew is richly filled with onions, carrots and pearl onions, and the piccalilli mayo is especially delicious.

I wouldn't recommend any German to put themselves through this mishmash mess. Currywurst doesn't deserve the name and the white cabbage slapped over the fries tastes disgusting.

I give it a satisfactory rating but expected more.

Here you can get the best fries on Texel made from fresh potatoes from Boer Lap, where we also regularly buy potatoes when we are on Texel. Unfortunately, when the weather is bad, there is now only a few standing room for eating on site. This was much more convenient before the renovation, when the snack bar was still called "Paul Patat" and was on the other side. However, you can sit very well outside.

We wanted to eat at this famous snack bar. We called from 1900 to 1930 to place a firm order, but we always received a call. We went there where 3 staff members were busy cleaning and did not welcome us very warmly. When we asked to eat it there, we were told "take away only". Ok...The sausage with sauerkraut and fries was mediocre, sauerkraut cold and no trace of the promised leek and curry. The fries themselves were tasty. Quite disappointing to be honest!

We've actually eaten there several times. The fries are delicious, but the older lady who serves there is exceptionally unfriendly and behaves arrogantly towards German-speaking tourists. She speaks Dutch extra quickly and complains aggressively if you don't understand her. This is very inappropriate in a village that profits from tourism. It's a shame, we're not going there anymore!

Unbelievable!! We go here every time we are on Texel. The food is always great and a highlight of the trip. Unfortunately we came by today to continue our tradition. The elderly woman at the counter had a bad day. Like always we ordered in german. That was never a problem. Because we ate at this diner every holiday , we knew the women speaks german, like almost every other shop on the island. So far that was no problem. This time it was a grave mistake. Firstly before even saying one word, the lady was gesturing like „what do you want, speak already!!“. Then we ordered. The grumpy and stubborn servicelady spoke her dutch, even after we answered in german. We already spoke german in front of her before ordering! After repeating herself 3 times she said in a not so friendly manner but german, that yes she speaks german but don’t want to speak it, when not asked beforehand. We were already half way gone, but finished ordering anyways. The food was really great, even if the menu changed for worse. While we were eating, other germans ordered and there it wasn’t a problem, but yes, she did not seemed amused about the language. I am sorry, but if you are living from the tourism you have to accept that people don’t always speak dutch! I don’t know what her problem was, but she lost a regular customer with that action.

The fries were limp, soft and there were chunks of fries clumped together in the family bag. The fries were probably too frozen and were not fried properly, resulting in a large bag of weak fries! Also not much taste! In short: Pommes Paul is not recommended!

This lovely little shop is quite unassuming...😅 Simple from the outside but stylish... Once you're inside... On the left... (very important) there's a sign with everything in Dutch and German...!!! You should look at the board first...then ask...A lot of things can be clarified right from the start...🤩🤩🤩 Now to the main topic...The food... It's a delight...The fries...The toppings...everything is fresh and damn delicious... The size is enough to more than fill a normal adult...🍀🍀🤩🤩 I hope the pictures speak for themselves... A huge point... Anyone who comes there with their four-legged friend will be treated very kindly. Dogs are allowed in to order, there's a bowl of fresh water outside, and if you decide to eat there, you can sit outside on the terrace with your dog...Thanks...🍀
