What a wonderful evening at Popocatepetl! We dined here with a large group, and a Mexican singer was present especially for the evening. The atmosphere was great from the very first moment. Delicious food, tasty drinks, amazing music, and above all, a fantastic time. The staff did everything they could to make it a special evening, and they absolutely succeeded. We sang, laughed, and truly had the time of our lives. An evening we will be talking about for a long time to come! A huge thank you to the entire Popocatepetl team for this unforgettable evening. Good selection of Mexican food, nice atmosphere and excellent service

We came here to try the tres leches cake but we were very dissapointed unfortunately. It was dry and only the pecan crumbs tasted nice. It was also 9 euros and definitely not worth the money for that one piece. Other foods were also nice but again very overpriced

We had a delicious and, above all, enjoyable meal at Popo! A cool Mexican place with a friendly atmosphere. Tasty dishes, although the enchilada was a bit dry: an extra bowl of guacamole could have easily fixed this. The mixed grill was also good as a whole, but on closer inspection, the ribs and chicken wings were a bit dry. Still a full five stars considering the fair prices and the fun evening we had!

The food was decent, but nothing special. We found the guacamole (3 euros for a very small bowl) mediocre. The service started off very nicely, but as the evening progressed, something was forgotten up to three times (ordered drinks, for example).

A sense of faded glory crept over us at this restaurant. We used to have good experiences at Popocatepetl, but this time it was nothing. The mere appearance of the restaurant looks a bit run-down and like faded glory. But anyway, you come for the food, and we had high hopes for that. Unfortunately, it really wasn't tasty. For starters, we had padron peppers and patata bravos. Both were totally tasteless; the peppers dripping in oil, the potatoes bone dry. Our main course was forgotten because after an hour and forty-five minutes we wondered where it was, and indeed, things had gone wrong. That can happen, of course, and they were eager to resolve it very quickly, but we asked for the bill and left relieved. That says quite a bit about how bad the starter was. I did want to mention that they politely removed two drinks from the bill because our food had been forgotten. All in all, okay service but very bad food. Faded glory.

Great restaurant. An established name in Breda. We reserved via Social Deal; you can choose from 3 dishes for each course. You can also choose whether you want spicy sauce, even more spicy sauce, or very spicy sauce… The only downside I can mention is that I missed the powdered sugar on the churros (but that’s a personal thing 🤭)

Four of us went out for dinner. The steak I was served was tough. I had trouble chewing it, but I ate it in the end.

The food was very mediocre. I had ordered roasted Padron peppers, but they turned out to have come straight from the deep fryer. Tasteless, greasy peppers. After my complaint, roasted peppers were prepared. I saw the cook place the peppers on a baking sheet. I think they were the same peppers, because they came back just as greasy, but now a bit charred. They were removed from the bill, though. The meat in the main course was okay, but everything was very greasy again. The accompanying vegetables were swimming in oil. The meat itself was well-seasoned and the fries fine, but overall, it was a really mediocre meal.

We really had a wonderful evening here 😊 We booked via Social Deal and were received in an incredibly friendly and hospitable manner. The food was delicious and the service was truly fantastic. Extra compliments to the thoughtful lady at Popo: there was no Radler beer left in stock, but she specially made something similar for me herself. So sweet and thoughtful, that made it extra special! Please do not order Nachos here! I just received the truly filthy bowl of "Nachos" ever via Thuisbezorgd. Truly unworthy of the name. One big chunk of dirty cheese and dry chips, not a chicken in sight, no tomato or salsa. Yuck! Too bad, I remember it used to be good.

Food is nice but pricey and more texmex rather than authentic Mexican. Still, I like to go once in a while. Margaritas are fire.

The tables are very close together and the food didn't taste very good. It's a shame we drove all the way from Tilburg for this.

Small place, I found the food mediocre. The platter you get with the menu is decent, but everything was very bland. The service, on the other hand, makes up for a lot; a nice young, but professional team.

We were a bit skeptical, but in the end we gave it a try anyway and we don't regret it. The food was of very good quality and the service was also very fast. The staff listened carefully to our requests and were friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and cozy. I had a burrito and my boyfriend chose the picanha, and both dishes were very tasty! It is also ideally located right in the center of Breda on the Havermarkt. All in all, a very positive experience, and certainly better than we had expected based on the reviews.

Nice setting! Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour for our food. But the vibe and the friendly, jovial staff make up for it with atmosphere, friendliness, and coziness. I don't think it's a convenient place to keep an overview. Before the food arrived, we had ordered a second drink, which unfortunately wasn't brought until our plates were almost empty. That is a bit inconvenient. On the other hand, I did have very tasty tacos with sweet potato fries! In any case, I made the right choices. My boyfriend had the seasoned fries and they were very chewy and hollow inside. He was okay with the mixed grill, but the meat was of low quality, dry/tough. He was unlucky with his choices.

Disappointment... I've been coming here for over 25 years. The dishes are no longer restaurant-worthy. I had burritos, and yes, the plate was warm, the rest was cold. One burrito (used to be 2 or 3 with a choice of fillings) and one small bowl of flavorless rice. No guacamole, sour cream, cheese, black beans, or anything like that. Instead, a pitifully small bowl with three compartments filled with spicy sauce, a few diced tomatoes, and something else. A glass of wine with barely two sips, outrageous for that price; it felt like a tasting glass. Thanks for the reply, but I was referring to my 25-year experience there; it's visibly deteriorating. Previously, I could only combine 2 or 3 tortillas, wraps, and fillings, and fajitas were also much less expensive than before. And the large wine glasses are nonsense; yes, they're large but empty. Next time I'll send them back; way too expensive for such low-quality wine. And yes, plates are boiling hot, but the contents are cold. Your response is below par.

Last night, the four of us went to Pop... We received a very warm welcome, and the service remained excellent, friendly, and competent throughout the evening. The drinks and meals were well-presented, and the quality was good. In short: a pleasant evening with friendly and competent service and good food. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back. Pleasantly surprised by this cheerful, colorful, cosmopolitan spot in Breda. Why have I passed it by for years? The atmosphere is fantastic. Super friendly and attentive staff. And the food: so delicious and surprising that I forgot to take pictures... well, just one. It's a bit dark, but that's also due to the cozy decor.

I ate here the day before yesterday. Burritos. I've never had worse! When I got home, I had stomach aches, nausea, increased heartburn, and reflux. Very bad experience, not recommended!

We've eaten here before, but unfortunately, this time it left much to be desired. We had to wait an hour for our main course; if we hadn't asked, we would have waited even longer. We were told they were out of cheese and had to get it from somewhere. Our dish should arrive soon, and then we had to wait another 10 minutes. The communication was very poor, and they acted as if waiting an hour for our food was the norm. A small compensation would have been appreciated. Once we received our food, it tasted good, but we were actually done with it.

Sadly, after years of enjoying coming here, it's not what it used to be... We always ordered the same dish, and they knew exactly what we meant when we asked, but unfortunately, that's not what it used to be. It really feels like there's a completely different chef in the kitchen... A completely different dish, and the flavor is completely lacking. The meat is either too dry or undercooked, and the plate is completely covered in greasy vegetables that also taste like nothing. We both had severe stomach aches afterward, which isn't from eating too much, anyway. We paid for a quarter-empty plate, but a full one. The staff, in my opinion, are too young and inexperienced to even be allowed to make and serve cocktails... And yes, you now pay €1.00 extra per person for the mayonnaise... A nice business model, though. We'll have to find another regular spot! Thanks!

We went this weekend. The restaurant was half full, and it took an hour for each course. We weren't very impressed with the food.

Extremely poor service. We had to ask three times to have the people before us' mess cleaned up, and they only did so half-heartedly. Drinks arrived one at a time, wine glasses barely contained two sips, and tea was simply forgotten. The nachos had no flavor at all. We asked for two portions of mixed drinks, received one, and as a compensation, four bitterballen (meatballs) for a group of 12. We came purely for drinks around 10:00 PM, so they didn't have many guests inside.

Today, after a long time, I finally noticed that the quality has definitely declined. We stopped in for dinner. We were a bit late because three of us have to eat gluten-free, and we often struggle to find a restaurant that does that without sacrificing flavor. So, thinking it's always good there, we went there. We mentioned it politely when ordering, and twice it turned out there was gluten in the food. The grease was also dripping off the food, which I'm not used to from them. Unfortunately, dessert went wrong again. Cookie crumble in a dish she normally doesn't eat. When I paid, I received a "Did you enjoy it?" I added, "It's just a shame about the gluten." "Yeah, sorry, sometimes a mistake happens." No compensation, nothing. On the way home, I started feeling it. And voila, we had to stop because I didn't know where to put it. Unfortunately, when a "mistake" is made, there are consequences. And I would have liked to see that redressed, because for me, this was a wasted meal. And who knows how many days I'll "enjoy" it this time. No, unfortunately not, it was a nice little place. They used to be great. And they used to be a bit more attentive to customer service. But that seems to have faded, unfortunately.

Atmosphere was nice and staff as well, however I can’t say the food was very good. It was not bad, but neither tasty, especially for the price.

The decor is a bit over-the-top, supposedly Mexican. It does create a nice atmosphere, though. Friendly service. The cocktails are excellent (though pricey for what they offer). The Patates Brava appetizer was good, but the jalapeno poppers were fried too long, and all the cheese was gone. The main course was wrong. I was given the wrong table. After receiving the correct order, it was a bit disappointing: a 3 🌮 with pulled beef and fajitas, also with pulled beef. A bit bland and dry. Then, at checkout, there was an error on the bill of €18. This was settled in cash. I don't think I'll be back.

The El Diablo cocktail was special and delicious, as were the veggie enchiladas. I've eaten here several times and every time, the service is top-notch and the Mexican cuisine is truly delicious. And the decor is truly breathtaking.

A great experience at this restaurant. Lovers of authentic Mexican cuisine will experience the ultimate here. Charming decor and ambiance. The menu has clearly been carefully selected. The drink selection is also more than excellent. Hospitality and expertise are the key words here. A piece of Mexico in the Burgundian Brabant city of Breda. A visit to this acclaimed venue is therefore highly recommended. The unique name is a real find!

Never had such a bad meal! We booked a group party, and some people didn't even eat the food, it was so bad. The soup and tacos were absolutely the worst. The service was excruciatingly slow, and at 9 PM the heat was turned down, so we were stuck in a large, cold room from 10 PM onward. And all this for an absolute fortune. My advice: don't go here!!!!

We went to this Mexican restaurant for dinner through a Social Deal. Booking went very smoothly. We received excellent service. The food was delicious. The atmosphere, with the streamers and decorations in the restaurant, made it very cozy.

Everything was delicious: the chips with salsa, the appetizer, the main course, and the dessert! The portions were generous and tasty. The service was friendly. It's a pleasant place to dine.

Great place! Great atmosphere and good service, the food is delicious, albeit a bit pricey. And unfortunately, (almost) everything has cilantro in it, so if you don't like it, I recommend letting them know in advance.

The food was good, highly recommended. However, the wait was very long (read: at least an hour between the starter and the main course), and the service was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately also rather inattentive. Incidentally, the restaurant wasn't full.

The food was good, except I ordered a rare picanha and it came out closer to congratulations than to well done. The taste was good and it was still juicy, but it could have been better. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she told me the cheff said that the picanha would only be good like this. That's simply not true and if it was, why even ask me what doneness I prefer? Other than that the food was good, service was good and the atmosphere was great.

Popocatepetl certainly thought that if we made the food salty enough, they would also order enough drinks. My two appetizers were incredibly salty, which was a shame because I didn't enjoy them at all. I did get a bowl of greens as compensation, but it was also incredibly salty. I don't know what they do in the kitchen, but not everyone likes salt. The service was good, but I won't be back this way.

Very good mexican food. Tasty and good size on portion. We were there on a tuesday with not so many people and they closed early. Good service! Not cheap but not expensive either.

Good food and friendly service for years

Last night (01-04) I had a delicious meal with my girlfriend. We had not made a reservation, but we were able to stay. In addition to the delicious food, kudos to the 3 employees who managed to operate a full restaurant inside, an outside terrace and a bar. One of the ladies indicated at the end that they "thought they could handle it with the three of them despite being understaffed". And that certainly worked! Thank you for the wonderful evening.

We hebben hier 2 jaar geleden een keer gegeten naar volle tevredenheid en vandaag weer een bezoek gebracht.Wat een teleurstelling!! Burrito leek wel zompige lasagne, slap en gedrenkt in zure room.Als toetje churros met chocoladesaus...chocolademelk leek het en churros moddervet en keihard.Toen we dit aan de bediening doorgeven werd er laconiek gereageerd met de boodschap dat ze te lang in het vet hadden gelegen.Geen excuses. Laatste keer hier gegeten!! Nooit meer!

A star. What a bad evening this was. Mediocre reception. Service was very distant all evening. Menu and table were sticky with dirt. Ordered a platter with various starters together. So a warmed up chicken wing, calamari, some jackfruit, an overload of nacho chips and a loaf of guacamole that tasted absolutely nothing. As a main course, three tortillas with minced meat filling topped with tomato sauce and a dollop of sour cream. It was downright filthy. The minced meat was bone dry and tasted stale. We stopped eating after a few bites. Absolutely nothing had been done with that minced meat. And for dessert we had the churros. They were dripping with grease. We left that one too. Definitely the last time we spend our money here. Waste of money. The heyday here is clearly a thing of the past.

My dish was fantastic. Too bad the pan was so hot. However, I was warned. I burned my finger when I tried to push the pan away from me. Let it cool for 1 or 2 minutes before serving would be my recommendation. Combined with the warning, of course

Have eaten at this restaurant several times. They have the time and space for you and your wishes. A little extra thinking time is no problem and they will be back on time, so you won't have to wait long. We especially loved the food! Beforehand you will receive homemade nachos with a house tomato dip, a delicious starter! The atmosphere in the restaurant is also pleasant and the service is friendly, respectful and patient. You are drawn into the atmosphere of Mexico, the restaurant is decorated with all kinds of nice attributes surrounding the country and culture. I would recommend Popocatepetl to everyone! And tip to order the Pornstar Martini, absolute favorite.

Centraal gelegen aan het kerkplein. Gevarieerd menu met de typische Mexicaanse gerechten. Onze fajitas en burrito’s waren erg lekker. Gezellige inrichting, vriendelijk personeel. Mijn cocktail was…verrassend.

I know it's nice here. Came to eat something on my own (didn't make a reservation). After waiting 5 minutes without any employees contacting us, we went to eat elsewhere No doubt it wasn't meant that way, normally it's fine here!

The taste of the dish was very disappointed, I order Mexican mix grill and very sad that doesn't look like anything for Mexican dish, I won't recommend to go there if they want to try Mexican food. Very very disappointed.

Breda is certainly a beautiful city to visit. It is pleasantly busy here. Good reception. To book. Good food. Just enough portion. A compliment to the lady who saw that we wanted privacy. She gave us a table for 2 by the window. Paid with VVV gift voucher. That's not possible everywhere. Worth to visit.
