Primo Hilversum in Centrum

The service is okay. The atmosphere is definitely not as good, but the food is truly poor quality. If you're used to Italian standards and this is what you get, it's a disappointment. Spaghetti without flavor, which you have to season yourself with salt and pepper, meatballs that are lukewarm and some pieces are hard. A pizza that is far from Italian. No, not worth repeating for us, and to be honest, not recommended.

I came for a business meeting, but informally. Without mentioning it, we were given a table for four, for two people (somewhat large). That was very pleasant. The service was friendly and polite. The food took a little while to arrive, but it was more than excellent. I had the pizza tartuffo: good texture (as a true Italian pizza should be), but a bit bland. My guest, however, had an excellent pizza. The prawn appetizer was also delicious. So, all in all, a great meal in a lovely restaurant. I'll definitely go again when I'm in the area!

I never try Italian food outside of Italy because it’s usually disappointing. I can honestly say the flavours, the texture and the quality of the food is authentic. I went back a second time during my trip. The food was excellent as well as the service. The staff was kind, professional and as a cherry on top, always smiling.

Four of us dined here last weekend. The terrace is cozy. The service is very friendly, and they have staff from all over Italy (including staff from other countries), but the waits are always so long. For an appetizer, we had burrata, which was delicious, and bruschetta, which was unfortunately terrible. Dry bread with too much balsamic vinegar for my liking. Afterward, we ordered pulpette della nonna (meatballs), spaghetti bolognese, and spaghetti carbonara with truffle, which were delicious. The dessert, however, the tiramisu, was simply awful. All in all, considering the price, we can't give it a higher than a 6.

Excellent, attentive service and a lovely location. A delicious beer, which was new to me, and a mocktail that, while served in a nice glass, looked like it came from a family-sized bottle of soda. The Primitivo was much better. The starters were different from what we were used to. Bruschetta was a five-centimeter-thick piece of bread with a small amount of chopped tomato, oil, and herbs—a bit clumsy and awkward to eat. The shrimp cocktail, in my opinion, is quite overpriced. €22 for 6 (frozen) shrimp with arugula, a sauce, and something resembling caviar—decently flavorful, but nothing special. The truffle pizza paired well with the Primitivo, while the carbonara I had had, judging by the slightly dried-out top, must have been sitting out for a while. The few pieces of pork cheek were cooked too quickly and too hard, preventing it from properly releasing its fat. The cheese and egg didn't quite combine into a creamy sauce with the pasta water. The egg was overcooked, and the cheese, unfortunately, was very grainy instead of creamy. If more attention had been paid, it would have been much better. It wasn't so bad as to send it back, but a true Italian restaurant like yours should be able to do much better. (I lived in Italy for six months.) The coffee could be hotter, and the iced coffee doesn't have enough coffee to even be called coffee. (There was a large group there, and the terrace was full, so the kitchen was working overtime.) It's a shame, because 110 euros for two isn't cheap. I expect more attention and some love, especially for my beloved carbonara.

The food is really great, I would definitely give it a 9. Compliments to the kitchen! What is a shame is that the experience around it is not balanced. The tables are so close together that privacy is virtually non-existent. I was literally sitting so close to another table that I joined in their conversation without being asked. That really ruins the atmosphere, especially if you want to go out for the evening. In addition, the service did not seem entirely sharp. The (older) lady with the drinks tried to bring the wrong orders to our table several times. It is not bad if something goes wrong once, but three times is a bit much. In short: great food, but I hope that the table plan and service will be critically reviewed. I understand that more tables means more turnover, but this way you run the risk that people will go somewhere else for the next time where you can enjoy yourself a bit more quietly

Here come eat because of a lot of good advice from friends, but we already walked in (reserved) and no nice welcome. Then 2 minutes later asked if we know what we wanted to eat without taking drink. Then when ordering food we had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for our head, we had chosen a pizza that looked and tasted like it came from the fryer.. we will not come back here.

No attention to the customer! Had to ask several times for the wine we ordered. Pizza Parma the base very tough and not tasty! Pasta no taste and not eaten. Unfortunately, 1st time but also the last time.

After reading many good reviews, we decided to go to Primo too... We wondered if we had just gone on the wrong night/time or if it was just below par for us... No, people next to us also left after only a main course that was half eaten. The service was nice, but we didn't think waiting 10 minutes for a drink was ok. The bruschetta was quite tasty, but it's not a complicated dish either, the other dishes carpaccio and pasta were very disappointing. Such a shame! That's why we didn't order dessert.

We visited 5pm before the crowd but we waited 1hour to get pizza and pasta. Pizza was very good but carbonara was cold and hard which I assume it was sitting at the kitchen for a while. Foods for other customers who came after us were served timely. Restaurant said there were several order errors which caused delay for our food delivery. It was very disappointing.

Pleasantly surprised by this address. Small fried pizzas as a starter, a very good discovery, then penne with cream and mushrooms, superbly cooked al dente and wonderfully well accompanied, followed by a small tiramisu, all that for around €25, what more can I say... Oh yes, the staff are very friendly and attentive, thank you!!!!!

Drinks are very tasty here. I assume sandwiches are tasty too. I took a forcassia which was soft crispy and very tasty. I also took a paste. This one was inedible. Pasta was undercooked! I fished out the meat and ate it. It is special that in an Italian restaurant the pasta cannot be cooked properly. It was literally loud. Service was also good, nice staff

Went there for my birthday yesterday. The servers even brought me a tiramisù with a candle on it! Excellent service, great vibe, amazing food.🫶🏻

In Primo they had had a busy day when we (three people) sat down for dinner at 5 p.m. It was very warm in the restaurant. With some consideration, also with regard to the young service (in English), our conclusion is: price-quality ratio less. The better wine (red) was unfortunately sold out. Two slices of bread without any garnish for 3.50 is not a nice start. No salt and pepper mill on the table, missed detail. Our portions (main course, second course) were small, the presentation and taste not surprising, with the exception of... of the pasta carbonara. That one was good. Portions are apparently tailored to the expectation that people start with antipasta, then a primi and then a secundo. The tortelli had a bland taste. Too much tomato sauce, not enough texture, which lost the flavor of the gamberi and Jacob's shell. The dish was not hot enough. Sliced ​​veal (Stracetti) in wine sauce was a bit dry (not really tender) and with some potatoes and a tuft of arugula without any significant dressing, not worth 24.50. Tiramisu was tasty, but not special and pricey at 10 euros. Our impression is that this (extra) busy day was a bit too much. Thanks anyway and... better luck next time! Derk.

Fantastic restaurant. It has a real Italian decor. The staff is very hospitable and does not speak Dutch, which gives you a wonderful holiday feeling! The food is great. Highly recommended to go

NO RECOMMENDATION!!! The beer was awesome but... - we weren't properly seated yet and were already urged to order a drink immediately - there were only 3 main courses even though soooo delicious things were shown on the internet (I wanted Cabonara) - The food was cold on the inside and tasted like it came from a can (but looked really tasty) - I paid €4 for 200ml of cola. (50ml = €1) The service was nice. We also ate up because the money was too good.

We ordered pizza for 30 people from Primo for a work meeting. They were delicious, good service (ordering and delivery) and good value for money.

Simple menu, which is nice, we took pizza. First of all: if you want something extra on your pizza, such as onions, that's not possible... that's a shame. The pizza served here is also not a pizza, but a Pinsa (thicker bottom, different shape) did not see this on the menu. The quality of the pinsa is also fine, but not a high-flyer and is quite expensive for something so simple. the service is friendly, the decor is a bit cramped.

Ordered more than €45 worth of food tonight and it arrives cold and the portions are far too small and it is also tasteless. Then you call them and after 8 times they finally answer and casually tell you that the portions weigh 220 grams and that that is more than enough. Explained that it was cold & tasteless and then they said come by for dessert. Well, no, thank you, and for anyone who wants to go here or order something, don't do it, it's way too expensive and the food is downright tasteless & you'll get a big mouthful if you say anything about it. What a bad thing this is, a pizza at Appie tastes even better.

Cannalonni was nothing, not much flavor, the caprese salad was better. But the biggest shock came when we had to pay, because we had ordered from the display case and not from the menu. Way too expensive for what you get. Because the restaurant has no atmosphere and the food is ordinary, I will never come back here again.

The atmosphere is very authentic and the food really nice! Tonight we had lovely polpette alle melanzane, bruschetta, spaghetti alle vongole and ai gamberi! Great presentation too! And to top it off outstanding gelato! We will definitely visit again!

Primo is a cozy restaurant. We opted for the extensive menu, anti-past, primo, secundi and dolce. Every course tasted delicious. Really authentic Italian food. The wine list also offers a nice selection of Italian wines. The service was friendly and helpful. The kitchen capacity is probably a bit tight when the restaurant is full, so it will take a little longer. We don't really mind, but there are people who might be bothered by this. It is a cozy little restaurant, in my opinion there are a bit too many tables. Our table of two was so close to the “neighbors” that we were actually sitting at a 4-person table with strangers. They were nice people, but I can imagine that there are occasions/situations when you don't like this. Given the price level, I think that is a point of criticism. Perhaps because of the success you are looking for a slightly larger building? Conclusion, if you are looking for real Italian cuisine, I can definitely recommend Primo in Hilversum. Once again we had a delicious meal here, all of the above is still the case. Orgasinatorial bit of chaos. Has its charm if you ignore it

A gem among the Hilversum catering industry. The atmosphere is correct and relaxed. The dishes have an authentic taste and wines of good quality. With the right dining companion, it is an evening-filling experience that is certainly worth repeating. Worth the detour a few kilometers. It is very much a "detour" restaurant. 😃

We ordered two Cappuccino and it was the worst Cappuccino ever. The taste was too bad and it wasn’t even near it. The waiter spilled one cup and left it without cleaning. I don’t recommend getting drinks here.

Great service, but the restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, we reserved online, because it had great reviews! The host was really nice, and was very helpful. I ordered the meatballs, but this was only meatballs, sauce and veggies, nothing more, so the dish was a little smaller than expected.

We picked up and sat on the terrace outside while our order was prepared. Pasta is tasty, but unfortunately they forgot the tiramisu in the order. So back from home, no fuss was made and we were just given the tiramisu, although nothing was ready... the terrace is busy, with a busy road nearby. Sitting inside is better!

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease, gluten allergies, or lactose intolerance. I had an amazing experience! I enjoyed delicious gluten-free certified gnocchi and a delightful apple tart with mango ice cream. The staff took exceptional care of me throughout my visit. Even when the waitstaff changed, the new server was fully aware of my dietary needs, so I didn’t have to repeat anything!! The chef's attention to detail was outstanding. I truly recommend this restaurant to anyone with dietary restrictions!

Very pleasant, small authentic Italian restaurant situated on the main shopping street in Hilversum. The menu at lunchtime is not terribly extensive but the quality of the food we had was excellent. The waiter was very friendly and attentive.

Delicious food. Bruschetta was very tasty, and our main courses especially! Just like we were on holiday in Italy :) Carbonara was perfect, and the buratta on the margharita was highly recommended. For dessert we had the limoncello tiramisu and a warm orange pastry, both with a scoop of ice cream. Awesome! Definitely recommended :D

Finally a high class Italian restaurant! The food felt very authentic with portions that were just right and had great flavour. Highly recommend the gnocchi. Seating outside in the shade on a sunny evening was a great atmosphere.

Somewhat tucked away at the edge of the terrace with your head in the plants, which is a shame. The bruscietta was great and raised high expectations. The carpaccio was cut a bit thickly and was a different type than we expected, it seemed to be firmer and smoked meat. The main courses were way too stuffed with cheese. So much that it was just a shame, the taste of the other ingredients was completely drowned out. Not a bad meal, but being more moderate with the cheese will improve it a lot. Without change, I won't be going back there very soon.

Only had dessert and a drink here. Had a super tasty scroppino and the desserts were also very tasty and nicely presented. Very nice service and there was a nice and pleasant atmosphere.

Ate here last night. Served for 2. But in the end we came spontaneously with 3 people. And despite a busy evening, this was neatly resolved! However, it took a long time for our drinks and food to be taken. And then the first mistake, the wine we wanted had not been available for days, according to the lady serving. Alternative offered was okay. After we got our drinks, the food was on the table within 6 minutes? With all due respect, the kitchen is technically not possible unless you work with microwaves and manufactured food. The pasta carbonara had a bland taste. The pizza was Tonno sour, had a concrete base and looked like a frozen pizza (tasted that way too). My veal with curdled truffle sauce (I read more about curdling in the reviews) was tender, but the truffle was far too search, but how do you manage to serve a crazy sauce at this level and prices? I'm sorry but there is work to be done here. Hope you pick this up with your team.

Literally authentic food, wonderful pure flavors. The Tuna and veal were out of this world. - it genuinely is a great addition to Hilversum. Service very friendly yet not the most experienced, but nothing a smile couldn’t fix so no worries there! Thanks for a very nice evening, we will be back occasionally!!
