We ate at Primo for the first time today, and what an amazing evening we had! ❤️ We were there for a date and truly had the night of our lives. The service was incredibly nice and friendly, and the food was really, really delicious! Everything was just perfect. We will definitely be back here more often!

Do not mix this place with Pizzeria across the street. We wanted to eat pizza and other things here but that was not possible. We literally were said, or eat here or go there or split, kid wife and me. My Focaccia was dryish, kids pizza fine, and wife parmigano aubergine with tomato, disappointing. Definitely not go again.

We weren't familiar with Primo yet and went in without any expectations. What a pleasant surprise! The food was truly incredibly delicious and far exceeded our expectations. Delicious dishes, welcoming staff, wonderful flavors, and clearly prepared with care.

For a birthday party, we ordered charcuterie boards from Primo for 30 people. We were truly impressed by the quantity and how beautifully everything was presented. Everything was fresh and really appealed to us. There was so much that we had plenty left over at the end of the evening. Everything was ready at the agreed time and was clearly prepared with care. We received many compliments on the food and would definitely order from here again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something delicious for drinks or a party.

The price-quality ratio is really nowhere to be found. The antipasti were still decent, but my beef stew, served in a small tapa bowl that was 100% reheated in the microwave (some pieces very hot and others lukewarm/warm), together with some potato pieces and the unimaginative arugula tomato salad mentioned earlier in other reviews, made this 28 euro dish an absolute disappointment. My companions both had pasta that was very dry and lacked any real flavor. Not a very large plate of pasta either, for a whopping 24 euros. A bottle of tap water for 6 euros... all in all, a small disgrace to Italian cuisine. Grandma's recipes... apparently, they aren't all that good...

They have a great deal on Wednesdays: 30,- per person, and you get great food and a movie ticket. The food was great, loved it. Service was amazing, all the staff know Italian and the feel is super authentic. Toilet is super clean and pretty. 100/10 recommend this place Affordable as well. Only thing lacking was a nice temperature, but we went during a huge heatwave so that’s not on the restaurant.

I just got back from a very disappointing meal. I seriously think this is a disgrace to all Italians who actually know how to make a decent pizza. There was a man who said, "This is the best pizza in Hilversum." I have NEVER laughed so hard. The pizza I ate was disgustingly awful and a crime to my taste buds. I strongly advise against going to New York Pizza if you want to eat a pizza.

My favorite in town. The atmosphere is always great, like being a little bit in Italy. Small menu, so you can taste that everything is made with fresh ingredients and great care. Very good value for money and top-notch staff.

The three of us had a delicious meal at Ristorante Primo. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and the service was friendly and attentive. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fresh and authentically Italian. The pasta carbonara, in particular, was highly recommended. The sauce was creamy and full of flavor, with perfectly cooked bacon and just the right amount of cheese and pepper. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, giving the dish that true classic Italian taste. All in all, a lovely evening with delicious food and good service. I want to start saying that the service was really good, everyone was nice and friendly. That said, I shouldn't have expected much after seeing that the dish of the day was carbonara with smoked Salmon. However I decided to eat there anyways. I ordered the zucchini flowers as it's one of the dishes I miss the most from Italy, what a mistake, it tasted only like oil. For the main course I ordered the original carbonara, all the ingredients were good quality and the pasta was well cooked, but it tasted like nothing. I think they forgot to put salt on the pasta water. After adding some salt and black pepper it was okay, but I don't want to season my own food when I go to a restaurant. My husband also ordered a parmegiana that was good, the tomato sauce is taste and I'd probably be happy if I had ordered a pasta in tomato sauce instead of the carbonara.

Normally, I don't post negative reviews. If a restaurant doesn't appeal to me, I simply don't go back. But after the high rating here on Google, this experience disappointed me so much yesterday that I still want to share this. We were the first to arrive, but were immediately seated in a corner in the right-hand area of ​​the restaurant. Unfortunately, from that moment on, it actually felt like we were completely forgotten. I started with the bruschetta, because I had eaten it somewhere else shortly before and had enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately, this was a real disappointment: little flavor and very small. My dining companion's focaccia was also surprisingly small. After that, we both ordered the popular spaghetti from the menu. In terms of taste, it was fine, but the portion honestly looked more like a half portion. This one was also quite salty. Because we were still hungry, we ordered an extra bruschetta later. That was okay in itself, but again, very salty. To finish, we had tiramisu, but that was disappointing too. It came in a simple glass container like the ones you see on a large scale in the hospitality industry. There really should have been much more attention and a better experience put into it. What was perhaps the most disappointing aspect was the service. Throughout the entire evening, we were never once asked if the food tasted good or if everything was to our liking. We had to ask for a Coke Zero several times and were not given any glasses, even though we had been drinking water beforehand. Were we supposed to drink from the same glass? Eventually, I had to ask for clean glasses myself. Because we were seated in that corner, it felt like we were completely forgotten. Even when staff—or I believe the owner—walked past the table next to us, we were barely looked at or asked if we wanted anything else. All in all, a truly disappointing experience and, unfortunately for us, no reason to return.

The zucchini blossom was the worst thing I've ever eaten. It was heavy, rubbery, and soaked in oil. I couldn't even finish it. The carbonara was technically correct and had the right ingredients, but it tasted like nothing: saltless, flavorless, completely bland. The parmigiana was good, but far from the best I've ever tasted. This restaurant promises authentic Italian cuisine. The only truly authentic thing was the prosecco, probably because they don't make it. The waiter seemed embarrassed, and rightfully so. It was a truly unpleasant experience.

So I decided to stop for a refreshing drink on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The staff are lovely, friendly and efficient, I decided to order a carbonara to go and enjoy it at home. To my surprise it was the most tasteless, disgusting pile of mush. It was worse than reheated airline food. I tried to add garlic to give it more flavour but it was hopeless so 19.00 euro in the bin. Never again, sorry but it’s not that difficult to make a tasty carbonara. EDIT: I have travelled EXTENSIVELY around Italy and have had carbonara NUMEROUS times and this did not come close to being authentic. It was given poor ratings by a number of people here so I guess we are all wrong. I live a 4 minute walk away so the take-away should not be this horrible.

You can also sit outside on the terrace; a real gem on the Groest in Hilversum and certainly worth a visit. As a tip, you can also buy Italian products here, such as very high-quality fresh pasta. And my opinion hasn't changed today either: a lovely welcome, good weekly menu. Top notch.

Food was very salty and pasta was over cooked. But the service was great and nice ambience.

We opted for the three-course menu including Prosecco and limoncello. The starter was very flavorful and truly delicious. The main course was nothing special. We'd already seen the garnish—lettuce with tomatoes—on the starter. (Unimaginative!) Dessert was a real disappointment. We had the tiramisu limoncello… I'd never had such an uninspired tiramisu. Loads of whipped cream with a single ladyfinger as a cookie base. Absolutely no flavor. The limoncello was nowhere to be found. We poured some over the tiramisu ourselves for a bit of flavor. The Vino Bianco (€6 per glass) was fine. But seeing €6 added to the bill for a bottle of tap water at checkout…not okay. The space is also far too crowded with tables and chairs. Ten fewer seats would create a much more peaceful atmosphere and give the staff more time to oversee the proceedings. Staff were only seen at the table when bringing and collecting dishes. All in all, we started off very positively...(appetizer!), but unfortunately, there was a downward trend overall. Not for me again.

We opted for the chef's surprise menu, which is served every Wednesday. It was reasonably priced, and for two people, it included a bottle of Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine from the Veneto (free of charge). We had a delicious meal, starting with tuna bruschetta and the main course with mushroom and special Pecorino gnocchi. For dessert, one of us had a cannolo siciliano and the other a limoncello tiramisu, so we could happily share. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service very friendly. It is a cozy restaurant divided into two areas. In the Salumeria Primo section, you can also sing via open mic and Italian delicacies are for sale. Highly recommended; we will definitely be back.

We've been here for the second time and the food is delicious again. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable...the perfect wine for the perfect dish. And we certainly can't forget the delicious tiramisu to finish with, along with a lovely double espresso. Highly recommended.

What a terrible restaurant!! This was our third time here, so we thought we'd give it another try. It's even worse than last time. The starter was a tough old Coca-Cola. The main course was Vienna steak and cold, old potatoes, not cooked properly. A handful of arugula with three tomatoes, I'd say. In short, the price-quality ratio is absolutely terrible. Spaghetti Bolognese is €22.00 too expensive, and we only get a tiny amount. Two people sitting next to us also complained. The menu on their website is also incorrect!

Yesterday, I happened to end up at Primo because my daughter was craving pizza. I chose spaghetti carbonara tartufo. At first bite, I honestly thought: hmmm, not very warm... but then something special happened: an explosion of flavor! The creamy sauce, the subtle truffle, and the perfect balance of ingredients made it a dish I enjoyed eating until the very last bite. Sometimes, temperature isn't everything—taste can make up for everything. Highly recommended for those who love surprises!

We had a lovely meal with about 10-12 people. It's surprising that many people didn't find the food particularly special. Even 4 out of 5 pasta eaters found it incredibly salty. This is surprising, considering the reviews are generally good. Given the rather steep prices, I'm only giving it a 3 out of 5, sorry.

First time being at Primo, and I loved it! The people were very kind. I chose the pizza special of the week. I never had pumpkin on pizza and it was amazing! I hope this special menu will come back again!

This restaurant in Hilversum, near the train station, is a delightful surprise. Management, menu, and staff are exclusively Italian. We started with broschette, which had a flavorful balsamic vinegar dip. The first course, spaghetti carbonara with truffle, could have been served a little hotter, but the guanciale was prepared according to true tradition. The service was patient and informative, always cheerful. The atmosphere, with small tables and Italian souvenirs lining every wall, was like a family trattoria. We'll be back for any occasion.

A disappointing experience.... The five of us dined at Primo, having heard and read good things about it. We ordered an aperitif, then the 3-course menu with wine pairing. So far so good, it was a pleasant evening. After the appetizer, it took quite a while for the main course to arrive, even though we had already received the accompanying wine. The hostess we spoke to wanted to order dessert! No, we were still waiting for the main course. She said it was coming, but there was no indication, and we had to wait again. We called the hostess again and explained that the main course was taking too long and the wine was almost gone. So, as a way of making up for it, we asked for a new wine, which we received. A polite solution. Finally, the main course, one of which wasn't warm. When we ordered dessert, we were told that dessert wine was being served, not limoncello. No, no, the 3-course menu includes a welcome drink and limoncello, and the wine pairing consists of three paired wines! The waiter started arguing about this (a cardinal sin, you don't argue with your guests, especially not when they're right!) and eventually gave in. Meanwhile, I was completely fed up with the way we were being treated—haughty and with a "don't complain so much" tone. When I left, I expressed my deep disappointment, and the worst part was that no one from Primo apologized for the long wait. The host indicated he had apologized, which wasn't the case, and that he wanted to argue again. So, once again, a missed opportunity to satisfy me and my guests. In short, it may have been an isolated incident, uncharacteristic of Primo, but I won't be dining there again.

Yesterday I ate at Primo with my boyfriend. It was his birthday, and we got prosecco and tiramisu (including a little fireworks display) on the house. So sweet! The food was delicious! It really felt like eating in Italy. The tables are indeed quite small, and it's not cheap, but the friendly service, the beautiful restaurant, and the quality were top-notch! Definitely recommended!

Love the vibe. Love the people and coffee. was not impressed bij the dishes (meatballs). The style of rucola with cherry tomatoes and sweet balsamic as vegetables to the dishes did not vibe with me. same for the type of bruschetta. I associated it more with warm bread from the toaster than from a oven or grill. Personally i missed the grilled vegetables from Italy, i think the kitchen is from a different part of Italy. so texture, flavour and style wise it was not for me. I endorse people to try it and decide if the style fits them. The people are passionate about their work and that deserves love.

We popped in spontaneously with family, and it felt like we'd arrived in Italy (the left restaurant section). It was wonderful! Friendly staff helped us with the menu and wine in English. Delicious and authentic Italian pasta and pizza, etc. The desserts were also delicious! The prices were a bit higher than your typical Italian restaurant, but it was definitely worth it. In my opinion, Primo isn't what it used to be. It used to be a cozy, authentic Italian restaurant. Now it feels like you're in a super touristy spot where little attention is paid to the food or the guests. We were here on a quiet Tuesday evening. The staff came by once to take our drink orders. Otherwise, we only saw them when they brought the food. The appetizer we got from the kitchen beforehand was very tasty. And the appetizer, focaccia with burata, was also very good. Then we had the carbonara. It was far too dry, and the delicious creamy sauce of egg yolks, cheese, and pasta water was missing. With every bite, the spaghetti just broke off, it was so dry. It's a shame. We were out of here within an hour. It feels like they want you gone because of that pace. Unfortunately, we won't be back.

The pasta wasn't cooked long enough; it was way too hard for al dente. I think it could have been cooked a bit longer, and the serving platter was really small. I highly recommend Italian brand cola, which is delicious.

I had the Polpette, and it was lukewarm. The meat wasn't very flavorful, and the Stracciatella di bufala that was on it was really cold, making the dish even colder. The Carbonara Tartufo, on the other hand, was very tasty and very flavorful. We ordered two at our table, but unfortunately, one of them was also lukewarm. The pizza was delicious. The pistachio cream on the focaccia was delicious, and the homemade pesto was certainly delicious as well. However, the corners of the fresh focaccia were already tough. The garnish (tomatoes with balsamic vinegar) was practically the same for every dish. I don't necessarily need that. A nice, family-run restaurant, but the food, I think, is "okay." We had high expectations going in. Unfortunately, we were met with one disappointment after another. The focaccia was hard and not fresh, the ingredients seemed poor quality, the mushrooms tasted like rubber, and the meat had no flavor. Luckily, we were able to exchange our dish, but it didn't improve. It's a shame, but we won't be back. The price-quality ratio wasn't up to par.

A restaurant suffering from its own success. The service was slow, and despite several reminders that drinks had been ordered, they ultimately arrived after the main course. The truffle carbonara was burnt. Smoking was going on on the terrace. The atmosphere was pleasant, but everywhere you looked, you saw people being turned away, not getting what they ordered, having to wait for a very long time, and then making kitchen mistakes.

Primo Hilversum looks hip and has a lovely terrace, but in terms of authenticity and quality, they fall far short. The presence of an Italian-looking and speaking woman suggests a true Italian restaurant, but in reality, it feels more like Dutch commercial thinking. The burrata is nothing more than a standard mozzarella ball from the supermarket (from the bottom of the shelf). Could we please reuse the cutlery for the main course? Come on, man. The truffle pasta arrived lukewarm, almost without truffle and with an overdose of pepper. Only the tiramisu was perfectly seasoned. The service is friendly but incompetent: they couldn't tell you anything about the wines and made strange recommendations like "the sauce is white, so go with white wine." For ten euros a glass, you expect more than just a simple pub wine. All in all, the restaurant may have a hip look and a lovely terrace, but it lacks Italian authenticity and quality. Not worth returning to for those looking for true Italian quality.

They don't check on me during the meal, and they don't offer dessert. They forget a glass of red wine with the meal. They charged me for the house drinks and took one too few, so I ended up paying €8 too much. The food is good, but the service really needs to improve. I'd like to come back.
