The best terrace in Alkmaar, not on the water, but on it. Extremely friendly staff who provide excellent service. And a meatball sandwich that's delicious!

Lovely place. Really good local beers and solid cheeses and meats. Our server was excellent, and happy to let me pick her brain on their menu. Wish I had time for the museum! Next time for sure!! Love the place.

Proeflokaal de Boom is located a few steps down in the basement of the Beer Museum. You can sit inside or outside by the canal. A rustically decorated pub with friendly and attentive staff. Great beer recommendations from the staff. We'd love to come back.

Man sitzt dort auf einem Ponton, der mit Scheiben verkleidet ist, so dass es nicht zugig und windig ist, man aber alles sieht. Direkt vor einem auf dem Flüsschen fahren Boote vorbei, die Gäste sind alle irgendwie Hip und dennoch natürlich.. der Service ist super freundlich. Wir testeten verschiedene Biere, die alle in ihrem Spezialglas serviert wurden - allein schon, das ist wunderbar! Sie schmecken alle sehr unterschiedlich. Dazu hatten wir den Burgunderteller mit verschiedenen Wurst.- und Käsesorten: lekker! Das Ambiente ist wirklich klasse.

Cracking spot for a beer on a sunny day. The outside area is actually on the water and you can watch the many boats touring the canals as they pass. I even saw some boats pulling up to be served drinks at the side of the canal so this is one to stop off at if you hire a boat (which I'd also highly recommend if you're visiting the city on a nice day). Also serves the classic traditional Dutch bar snacks like bitterballen

An excellent classic pub with a huge selection of beers and an offer of tasting them in children's rooms. The atmosphere will absorb you and thanks to the pleasant personal service, you will soon feel like you are at home in the pub. And if you feel like eating something, small snacks are also available in a fairly good selection. Nice bar/pub in Alkmaar, friendly staff, a great selection of beers and a nice outdoor terrace on the canal with heaters. They have an additional space with tables outdoor on top of a boat. Acceptable and fully reasonable prices...

Nice place for a special beer. The bartender knew a lot and gave us a good recommendation. In terms of snacks, great for the location. Cheese board could have been a little more exciting, but all around fine.

Sit outside on the pontoon on the terrace. In winter it is covered and heated and there are blankets. Beer tasting, many types of beers and other drinks. With or without snacks.

Waren mit unserer 7-jährigen Tochter im August 2024 in Alkmaar. Im Proeflokal trank ich nach dem Museum 2 Bier und kam am Abend wieder ;-) Tolle Auswahl an Bier und super zu sitzen. Auf dem Boot war es außerdem trotz Wind und kühlen Temperaturen gut zu sitzen, da es einen guten Windschutz gibt. Preise sind für Craft-Beer echt sehr ok. Auf jeden Fall vorbeischauen!

We wanted to have a nightcap in the evening because our bar closed at 8 p.m. We were totally surprised at the number of beers on offer. There are around 15 different draft beers and countless bottled beers. We first had to get advice about which one we wanted to drink. Because we had to drive home the next morning, we were only able to try 2 beers. Absolutely recommended!!!

A very cozy restaurant by the water. You have a nice view of the canal. We had a drink here and ordered bitterballen. Simply a pleasure! Price-performance ratio is right here. Unfortunately, it takes a little longer to be served here. You have to be patient or just draw attention to yourself.

Always a beer by the tree on the terrace. As soon as we enter Alkmaar, the first thing we encounter is the Tree. And that's great. A delicious Tripel Karmeliet on tap will be on the table in no time on the cozy terrace with heaters and parasols. Good brown fruit. A cozy authentic atmosphere in the pub. Kwamen hier iedere week een lekker speciaal biertje drinken. Bediening is perfect, heel voorkomend en lekker ongedwongen. Echter sinds een paar weken komen we hier niet meer. Dit komt door het parkeerbeleid van de gemeente Alkmaar. Dit is zeer onduidelijk en door deze onduidelijkheid heeft het ons veel geld gekost aan naheffingsaanslagen. Jammer!

What a great location if you want good beers Tasting in a good atmosphere. Nice terrace with heaters and out of the wind so you can sit outside even on cold days. Huge selection of beers, so there is something for everyone. Also an extensive snack menu so you always have something to eat. Service is also quick to clear away empty glasses/empty bottles. All in all great!
