Don't go here unless you appreciate rudeness. Then go. Also go if you don't like your children, because they don't like that either.

Very friendly service, chairs a bit hard, especially the high ones. A downside is the lack of a beer menu. We received some advice and were given a beer (delicious) that later cost 11 euros. It might be a good idea to mention that beforehand.

An extraordinary place both for its authentic decoration (the small lounge at the back is worthy of a museum), for its atmosphere and above all for the kindness of the owner: adorable with our dog who was treated to her little plate of cheese. A must-see during any visit to Haarlem! Highly recommended

A beautiful facade of an old fish shop on the Riviervismarkte, leads to a large, quirky interior with lots of separate spaces. An odd selection of beers on tap (interesting is the word) and a large bottle selection of Belgian and Dutch beers (tap and bottle menus on the walls - take a look before ordering or you’ll get the house pilsner). Got very busy in the evening, but the staff were excellent and didn’t leave you without a drink.

Such a fun place, friendly service, and great ambiance. It was smiles all around. Great wine, especially the chardonnay. They brought us heaping bowls of mixed peanuts as a snack. We shared a large table with others which is fun, not awkward. The name is based on the propeller plans from many years ago.

Beer was good! Service was very poor, certainly not recommended if you want to have a pleasant evening.

Small brown bar next to the cathedral on the Grote Markt. It has a small tap list of around 6-7 of which we tried the Mooie Nel from a local brewery (Jopen) and that was in tip top form. very tasty indeed. They also have a bottle list which has some interesting beers but that list is on the right wall of the room beyond the entrance room. Do go check it out as we had a Flemish sour ale from that list which was fab !

The old cheese plank is a steal, love it

Fabulous little pub in the shadow of the church. Great spot to sit outside but make sure to check out the stunning interior space. Beautiful and historic. No cocktails (you'll have to get your Aperol Sprizter fix someplace else), but a fine selection of beers, wines and ports, and liqueurs. Staff was very friendly and told us all about their extensive Genever collection.

This tent was recommended by friends. I was there on Wednesday June 13th. Very nice concept. But what bad service. Treated very unfairly from the very first moment. The excuse is that it's busy and I'm alone, never and never talk about the fact that you snap at customers that if they're thirsty they have to go to another place, that they can't order snacks because it's busy and so when you think it's okay you take the snack order and also shout at them not to come and stand at the bar. I will never go here again and advise against anyone who pays even a little attention to service. We then paid and spent another 300 euros at another tent that does have an eye for good customer service. This lady really has no feeling for the catering industry!

Beautiful bar in a monumental building in the center of Haarlem. Good selection of any drinks with great service. Sitting outside is the best in the summer since you get sunlight and can look at people walking or biking by. Inside has many tables also if the weather gets cold or rainy.

At De Uiver they think they can increase profits by just putting a small amount of wine in your glass, which will save you some money, plus the thought that the client is crazy and will then order another one because your glass is empty so quickly. We didn't fall for it and left after the first one, which is a shame because it is a nice place and luckily without loud disco noise.

What a lovely little place. All the years I lived here I wanted to try and my Dutch husband always said “it’s an old man’s bar. You want like it. Finally we tried it and i LOVED it. They have beautifully aged Dutch genever. Very friendly staff and we were probably the oldest people in there.

Interesting (smal) list of beers from the tap. But nothing else. Not a "tasting" room. And for those searching for a place to learn about beers....not the right place. (Although it might be the staff was too obnouxious ;) )

This is by far my favorite café in Haarlem. If you want to know why, you should walk in.

Atmospheric location in the center of Haarlem to get a (special) beer and a bite to eat. They always have nice, changing beers on tap that the staff will kindly advise you about. I was even offered a tasting glass to determine if I liked the beer before ordering it. The tasting room has a rich history in aviation and a beautiful setting. My favorite place is the attractive back room. It is a bit more difficult to get the attention of the staff here, but it is quieter and more atmospheric here. The food is also delicious, with classic bitterballen, beef sausage and a delicious grilled sausage.

Initially, the Proeflokaal in den Uiver seemed like a cozy and friendly pub, where we were satisfied with our table and enjoyed the excellent beers that we ordered. However, as time went on and it got busier, towards 6pm, the experience started to deteriorate. It is understandable that it may take a little longer for service to arrive during busy times. But after sitting with empty glasses for more than half an hour, we started to wonder if we should maybe order at the bar given how busy it was. With only three members of staff on a Saturday evening we understood the situation so I kindly decided to walk to the bar myself to get the drinks myself. Not out of impatience, but from the perspective of being able to help the staff. However, to my surprise and dismay, I was greeted with a rant from the owner, who told me I was stupid and impatient. My question about the ordering procedure was met with disapproving looks, and her response was unnecessarily unfriendly. Despite my attempt to understand the crowds and my intention not to burden the service, I was treated as if I had committed a crime. Disrespectful is an understatement. The owner emphasized that it was her business and that matters were handled her way. My offer to order from the table was met with even more disapproval, and understanding was taken as reproach. After several attempts of understanding, which resulted in more anger from the owner, I decided not to order anything anymore and asked for the bill. Her comment that it was not meant personally did not in any way soften the extremely unfriendly experience we had gone through. I understand that crowds can sometimes lead to tension, but it is unacceptable to treat people with such disrespect.

We recently stayed in Haarlem and went out each night for food and drinks. This fantastic bar was our favourite place for a beer. The choice of beers is good, they are well kept and the staff very knowledgeable about them. The premises are very atmospheric, we really enjoyed this aspect, so much nicer than a stereotypical bar. The staff were great, although busy they remembered us when we returned the second night, and were chatty and interested ( we did a third night too). This is the sort of place we want to recommend, it is exactly the sort of bar we look for but............ don't tell everyone and make it so busy it spoils it.

Was alweer een paar jaar geleden dat ik Haarlem en dus bij 'de Uiver' was. Niets veranderd; nog steeds héél gezellig, lekkere hoekjes om te zitten, heerlijk bier, prima hapjes en uitstekende bediening. Meer dan vijf sterren geven kan niet, maar dit is een top-tent. Al járen.

Oude kroeg in monumentaal pand. Hebben een sortiment aan speciaal biertjes van de tap. We waren daar met een team uitje dus we verstoorde wel een beetje de normale rust hier. Lekkere hapjes besteld. Snelle goede aardige bediening.

Sehr nette, gemütlich Kneipe. Offenbar war da mal ein "Vischhandel", wie draußen zu lesen ist. Drinnen rustikal. Große, gute Bier und Whisky-Auswahl.

This place is a hidden gem in plain sight! Looks like a normal bar from the outside, with a very cosy interior with a plane theme. The staff are very friendly!

Went to have some beers with 3 friends from work. We asked for a couple beers each. Suddenly without asking for it a small cheese dish appeared that we asumed to be an invitation. At the time of paying he refused to split the bill in 4, since they are expenses to be paid my our company. We remembered it that he was charging us for the unsolicited cheese, which we had no objection to pay he answered “but you ate it!!!” A real scammer which started to behave very rudely and told us “Don’t come back anymore” Again an unsolicited advice that this time we will surelly follow!
