Restaurant Café Houtplaats in Wijk 01 Rheden

Unfortunately, this was a major disappointment. We ordered two smashed avocado sandwiches, but the quality and hygiene left much to be desired. We found a hair on one sandwich, and the other contained a hard eggshell. Additionally, the iced coffee was not good either: it contained strange white pieces. For this price, you expect care and hygiene in the kitchen, but this was truly substandard. We will not be returning here. They removed one sandwich from the bill, but we still had to pay for the other one.

A great place to have some good lunch before embarking on a walk through Veluwe! The buffalo chicken broodje was delicious, beautifully served as well. The staff was nice and the atmosphere in the outside area peaceful. All in all, a good spot to have lunch and unwind with some fresh air.

A super beautiful and pleasant place to sit during a bike ride or walk. Much better than the Paviljoen on top of the Posbank. The coffee is perfect too, not a weak brew.

After not having been there for a number of years due to the mediocre quality of the food, we thought it was time for a second chance. Well, we regretted it. The food was still not very special, just like the service. They won't be seeing us here again.

The price-quality ratio is off. It is disproportionate. You get too little bread. You used to get two slices, that was better.

The food and location were excellent. Unfortunately, our experience was significantly affected by the service. Upon arrival, we had to wait approximately 15 minutes before someone came by to take our drinks order and bring a menu. We ordered drinks again before the main course, but during the meal, we saw nothing of this for 10–15 minutes and eventually had to inquire ourselves. This was resolved quickly shortly afterwards, but our first drink order was not served until *after* the main course. Subsequently, we had to wait another 15 minutes or so for a dessert menu. Although I understand that there was a party in another room, it was otherwise not so busy that such waiting times seemed necessary. It is a shame, because the quality of the food and the location deserve service that matches.

It has a fantastic location, making it an ideal spot for lunch on a cycling day or as a break during a hike. However, our experience was really less than we had expected. We had a pre-arranged lunch with a large group. The service was incredibly slow and unattentive. Tables were not cleared and cutlery was forgotten to be brought. The feeling we were left with was that we were a burden to them rather than welcome. The food was meager and a tad mediocre here and there. The bruschetta was tasty in itself, but otherwise, there was little love to be found in the lunch. Ample and free parking. Perhaps there will be another chance in the future. But this time, I cannot award more than two stars.

The service is good and prompt. The Caesar salad was fine. The croutons were much too big. The flamkuchen was very poor for 14.50. Coincidentally, I had a flamkuchen for 12 euros at the market yesterday and that was fantastic. This was just a flat piece of dough with some bacon bits dumped on top. Consequently, there was practically no crème fraîche. Very bad.

We had an incredibly lovely Easter brunch at De Houtplaats. A warm welcome, right up to the chats at the table. Delicious food that even a picky eater enjoyed! We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful meal on the large, sunny terrace. The menu isn't extensive, but it doesn't need to be. The staff is very friendly and professional. The terrace and restaurant are wheelchair accessible, and there are vegan options on the menu.

The Skuumkoppe and La Trappe Blond on tap were consistently delicious, the food was fine, but I didn't think the price matched the quality. The atmosphere and service were fine.

We had a lovely meal at De Houtplaats via SD, a three-course meal with a delicious appetizer platter, and excellent service. Definitely worth a visit again.

A lovely spot for a stop after a walk. We just had to wait a long time to order and then wait a long time for our drinks. The staff didn't notice and left many guests waiting with empty glasses. Such a shame!

A beautiful restaurant, atmospheric and cozy.

On a wintery Sunday, I enjoyed a cup of coffee and a delicious apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Excellent service, nice atmosphere, and a wide selection of drinks.

The food was delicious. Only one thing went wrong: they offered salmon, which was the special of the day. (Catch of the day.) When it was served, it turned out it wasn't salmon, but a different type of fish. Our neighbors next door experienced the same thing. The waiter politely apologized. My bad, thanks. But a really good social deal. Definitely worth it.

Not very expensive, good atmosphere, and tasty food. Waiting for the first drinks took quite a long time, about fifteen minutes. We only had to wait about half an hour for the food, so that was fine. I recommend making a reservation, as it was very busy this afternoon (Sunday).

We had a delicious meal at De Houtplaats. The service, location, and ambiance are excellent. The only downside: given the high price of the main courses, they could have used a side dish.

The food is okay. Service is often poor. When I stop by for something to eat and drink, it means I am hungry and thirsty. In that case, I don't feel like being given a menu only to see no one again. Someone comes to bring some food to our neighbors. Doesn't respond to anything. Inside, the staff are just standing around talking to each other. I'm not going to beg to spend money, so I went to another restaurant. Unfortunately, this happens often. You are missing out on a lot of money this way.

When we arrived, there were plenty of empty tables, yet we were taken to a separate room where no one else was sitting. The other waiters were just standing there talking to each other and paid absolutely no attention to us. We weren't even given a menu. We had to go over to them ourselves to order, but instead of helping us, they reacted irritably and said: “We’ll be right there!” When we asked them to slow down a bit, they said: “If you want things to go fast, this is the wrong place for you. You’d better go somewhere else.” We were the only non-Dutch couple there, and it clearly felt like their attitude had to do with that. That is why we left immediately.

A great place for coffee and cake, but you can also come here for a delicious lunch or dinner. Situated on the edge of the Veluwe in a pleasant location with on-site parking.

Beautiful spot, but after a 2-hour drive I was rudely turned away because they open fifteen minutes late… these people understand hospitality in the new world. Missed opportunity. The neighbors do get it, though. Small addition: I had reserved for 12:00 last week…

We took a short break at Houtplaats Holland – we had a drink and just a small portion of fries. 🍟 Everything was delicious, the atmosphere very cozy, and the view beautiful. A great place to relax for a bit – we'll definitely be back! 🌿☕

Slow and unfriendly service, especially the hostess. It took a long time for our drinks (2 soft drinks). We were not allowed to sit on the terrace, only on a bench next to the terrace, because we didn't know yet if we were going to eat. We definitely didn't want to eat here anymore. The woman who sat down with us on the bench hadn't been allowed to take our drink order after 20 minutes. We went to ask three times. We also had to wait a long time for our bill.

Nice spot. But waiting 15 minutes and still not being served......... The phrase 'we'll be with you shortly' is like the FriezeKwartiertje. Just got a drink and snacks at the AH for the way back after a lovely afternoon walk on the Posbank.

The atmosphere was great and the food was excellent. The service was a bit slow, and we had to wait too long for our main course (even after asking).

As a group of occasional walkers who did not know each other but wanted to have a bite to eat together after a walk, we were confronted with the message that not everyone could pay for themselves, but that this was only possible per table. So you are, as it were, forced to pay for a stranger. I find this really unacceptable. The owner gave the reason that paying per transaction costs money. And that we did not know each other and how we would solve it was not his problem. It did not occur to him that he would turn his problem, the transaction costs, into our problem. When it comes to a few cents, customer friendliness is hard to find.

Beautiful location. We had a cup of coffee and tea in the evening after a walk on the postbank. Well taken care of. Many flavors, and a small piece of brownie as a treat, delicious.

Restaurant was ons aangeraden door een vriendin. En het was zeker de moeite waard. Gezellige inrichting. Het eten was gewoon erg goed en ruim voldoende. Lekkere wijn. Vriendelijke bediening en het tempo was precies goed. Bij een volgend bezoek aan de posbank gaan we zeker hier nogmaals eten.

Mooie lokatie maar de prijs/kwaliteit is erbarmelijk. Een matig soepje voor bijna €10. Trage bediening, moesten lang wachten terwijl het niet druk was.

Mijn vriendin en ondergetekende (recensent) wensten ons eenjarig jubileum (samenzijn) te vieren c.q. af te sluiten met een diner. Ik ben - helaas - langdurig ziek (zoekt u overigens eens op de ziekte van 'plots') en hierdoor zeer beperkt in mijn keuzes. Ergo, het zoutgehalte in het eten. Derhalve informeerde ik bij de bediening óf/in hoeverre hiermee rekening kon worden gehouden qua bereiding/samenstelling. De vis, waaronder zalm, op de menukaart werd mij aanbevolen. Zónder saus (hiervoor in de plaats verscheen een 'salade', zie 'garnering'. Mijn vriendin bestelde een voorgerecht (buikspek) .c.m. breekbrood. Porchetta: een deftige(r) aanduiding voor Italiaans buikspek. Dit oogde dusdanig pips dat wijlen Mussolini ervan zou verbleken. Beekbrood: het brood werd koud geserveerd en liet zich het best beschrijven als een kauwgumbal die kaakpijn veroorzaakt. - Zalm: ontsteeg het niveau niet van een diepvriesvariant in uw lokale supermarkt, inclusief graat en lauwwarm opgediend. Dit, terwijl hiervoor een prijs van bijna € 25 wordt gehanteerd. - Zoete aardappelfrietjes: ook lauwwarm, niet bijster royale portie. - De garnering: wat bladsla, her en der gelardeerd met een tomaatje en augurkje. Kortom: geen positieve ervaring, waar een eerder bezoek (lunch) beduidend beter was. De locatie is prettig/mooi, het terrasmeubilair (stalen stoelen) nodigt niet uit om langdurig(er) in te zitten.

Nice place with friendly staff and good food for a good price. I ordered a seasonal dish with asparagus, but it was not prepared very well. Still a bit hard (the thicker asparagus). My friend had a burger and it was delicious. Staff is fast and friendly, very nice!

We were here for Easter brunch with a group of ten people. After a welcome drink (mimosa with or without alcohol) and a delicious glass of soup, we enjoyed an extensive buffet. The food was very tasty and the staff came by regularly to take drinks orders. One downside: there were virtually no vegetarian options.

De Houtplaats ligt prachtig, met een groot en uitnodigend terras dat op zonnige dagen een fijne plek biedt om neer te strijken. Er is voldoende personeel aanwezig, al blijft de service helaas achter. Lege tafels worden traag afgeruimd en wie iets wil bestellen, moet actief de aandacht trekken—een blik omhoog van het personeel zou al veel schelen. Qua eten kiezen we voor de vis van de dag (zeebaarsfilet met een gerookte knoflook beurre blanc), de hamburger en gegrilde groenten als bijgerecht. De zeebaars is goed bereid, met een subtiele saus die mooi past bij de vis, al is de opmaak aan de sobere kant. De hamburger komt niet zoals besteld (we vroegen om medium rare, hij komt doorbakken), maar gezien de sfeer en het type burger – een wat compact, stevig exemplaar – voelt terugsturen niet gepast. De gegrilde groenten verrassen positief: uitstekend gegaard, smaakvol en mooi gepresenteerd. De Houtplaats heeft potentie, met zijn ligging en ambiance. Maar het mag allemaal wat scherper: betere afstemming in de keuken, meer aandacht voor details op het bord, en bovenal een alertere bediening. Dan zou het terras net zo lekker kunnen smaken als het eruitziet.

After a nice walk we thought we would have a nice drink. But unfortunately... the staff looks at you three times and you are clearly ignored, so we move on.

Gezellig op het terras gezeten, want het was heerlijk weer. Ja en bitterballen besteld en afgerekend. We vonden het bedrag wat hoog en checken de prijzen. De ober erbij geroepen en gezegd dat het totaalbedrag niet klopte. Hij keek het na en zei dat het wél klopte. Op de kaart stond € 9,50 vermeld voor 8 bitterballen maar we moesten € 12,00 afrekenen. Hij zei, niemand zegt er wat van! Met andere woorden, wat zeuren jullie nou over. Er was een nieuwe kaart in de maak, zei hij, dus voor het gemak hield hij die prijzen dus maar aan.

That was a pleasant lunch. Nice environment, good food and pleasant service. Worth repeating.

Delicious food via social deal. Start with a snack board with a soup. The steak of the week as a main course, also delicious. And instead of ice cream, a cup of coffee. Nice neat service. Definitely recommended. A small improvement is that the temperature inside could be slightly higher.

Half november hebben wij hier een zaaltje gehuurd en hebben met met plm 40 vrienden en familie het afscheids- en tevens verjaarsfeestje van Leatitia gevierd. Beter kon niet ! Alles was perfect geregeld en gecombineerd met een geweldige service was het allemaal top. Ook de ligging .. de parkeer-mogelijkheden en de mooie verlichting zorgden voor een buitengwoon geslaagde avond.

In mid-November we rented a room and celebrated Leatitia's farewell and birthday party with about 40 friends and family. Couldn't have been better! ; everything was perfectly arranged and combined with great service it was all great. The location, parking options and beautiful lighting also ensured that everything went well

We hebben met ons zessen prima gegeten.We hadden gereserveerd, maar moesten wel even wachten op onze tafel en dat kon aan een hoge tafel met een drankje. De bediening was vriendelijk en vlot. De menukaart was overzichtelijk en er was genoeg keuze. Het was goed, niet bijzonder.
