Restaurant Calva in Nootdorp

Een heerlijke avond gehad, tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Het was de 5e keer dat ik hier heb gegeten en de chefkok Tom en zijn brigade blijft zichzelf overtreffen! 7 gangen gegeten met prachtige en gewaagde combinaties met zeer goed bijpassende wijnen. Heel leuk dat er ook een alcoholvrij wijnarrangement was met heerlijke 'wijnen'. Echt een aanrader voor een complete belevenis!

We had a wonderful evening, taken care of down to the last detail. It was the 5th time I have eaten here and chef Tom and his brigade continue to outdo themselves! 7 courses with beautiful and daring combinations with very well matched wines. Very nice that there was also an alcohol-free wine arrangement with delicious 'wines'. Highly recommended for a complete experience!

Fantastic evening. Beautiful and tasty food. Great service and very friendly staff. Menu €90 is quite expensive. But you also get several amuse-bouches etc. Wine prices are very reasonable for the quality.

We eat here regularly. Always surprised by the delicious flavors. You are really pampered. Delicious matching wines. Good non-alcoholic alternatives. We keep coming back.

By far het beste restaurant in de regio waar wij in de laatste pakweg vier jaar hebben gegeten in zijn klasse. Ieder gerecht is een plaatje en brengt zeer verrassende smaken. Tot de gerecht van ons menu behoorden een onovertroffen bisque, fantastische schol en een perfect gemaakt beef Wellington. In absolute zin niet goedkoop, maar de 'investering' meer dan waard! Enige klein minpuntje was dat het wel een lange zit was, maar vind je het gek dat deze zaak bomvol zit...

We hebben genoten van een heerlijk, ontspannen avondje uit bij Calva. De bediening is top, het eten voortreffelijk en de ambiance ontspannen. Mijn persoonlijke was het dessert van mango en passievrucht.

The fact that this tent does not yet have a Michelin star is a flaw!

A warm welcome, our bicycles were allowed behind a fence. Started with a British bubble, then only delicious dishes. Then think of a coconut soup with spinach, or a plaice, carrot, mussel curry and very surprising poultry quenelle, sour cherry, almond and mocha. All very tasteful. The accompanying wines were also very tasty. In short, it is highly recommended to eat there. It was the second time for us, but we live in Apeldoorn so that's a long way, but it certainly won't be the last time.

This is the first or second time I actually give reviews. I was a regular customer to this restaurant. The staffs are very warm and professional. But I have to admit that, each time, we felt being treated differently by the Chef. Every time. We don’t have any improper behaviour. I always try to stand up with his attitude, try to ignore the bad feeling, try to avoid to make everyone awkward. But obviously this does not work. I am not paying to beg the Chef for dinner, and not deserve to be treated with cold face all the time. He may do not like us, but we are the customers, paying for dinner, and we behave nicely. The Chef should keep his personal likes and dislikes to himself. I am the last person who would like admit but it is so real.// Since lots PM, so I answer here: we went to this place just because it is near (when we do not know what to eat).We always have fine dinning, around this near area, not so many choices. But if you would like to drive a little bit, I would say not necessary to take the risk to get offended.

My 1st time at Calva was today. And I thoroughly enjoyed the Amuse and every subsequent dish, each time an explosion of flavor and beautifully prepared. The chef and staff explained everything neatly. And everything was taken into account. You didn't have to ask if anything needed to be refilled, everything was closely monitored and there was 100% attention for you. At the end of the experience, the chef will wait for you outside to ask how you had it and what your favorite dish was. After a good handshake you are politely let out. I will definitely go back to enjoy a new and fresh menu. Thanks for a nice evening.

I have found my calling here in the Netherlands. After a long time. I have found the restaurant that finally meets my expectations. This stunning establishment has zero tolerence for shoddy hospitality as they meet your needs and are so professional. The food is fantastic and the chef presents you the food themselves. The drink selection was great. We were catered for vegetarian food with no Alcohol. What more can I say? Give this place a Michelin Star now! Updated 2023. I just went again. Fantastic as always. Updated 2024. Yesterday at Calva, the oyster I had was an exquisite experience. The combination of flavors was nothing short of stunning, with a distinct citrusy burst that complemented the fresh, briny essence of the oyster. Each bite was a perfect harmony of the ocean's natural salinity and the zesty, invigorating notes of citrus, creating a memorable and refined culinary delight.

Super well eaten. Gourmet cuisine of a very good standard. To recommend.

Calva's kitchen produces true works of art with surprising flavor combinations and a feast for the eyes. Here are people with a passion for their profession! Excellent service and very friendly and enthusiastic staff. Everything is delicious here, including the fresh bread with sea salt butter, the appetizers, the homemade gin (including anise), the homemade bisque(!), the special ham starter and the oysters. Tastefully decorated and every time a beautiful menu with regional products and an eye for detail. Recommended!

It's been a while since we ate at Calva, but I couldn't find my review. I would also like to say that we had a great evening. It was indeed a culinary experience and that in Nootdorp! We felt very welcome with every course it was a pleasant surprise! In short, if you want to be spoiled with culinary pleasure for an evening, Calva is the address!

Had dinner here with a group last night. In a word, fantastic, from the reception at the front door by the chef to the last second. What a feast, beautiful taste sensations from every dish and matching non-alcoholic wines (which I normally don't care for much, but have now tried as a driver). The service and the sommelier are equally friendly, social and funny, creating a nice atmosphere. Absolutely great people, keep it up! The chef also prepared delicious dishes with pure taste sensations for me as a vegetarian.

Qualitatively at the same level as a Michelin star. Even better than some I've eaten at. Also nice contact with the chef who also comes by a few times.

Amazing place to hangout with friends ans family

As suggested by the chef, review goes in Spanish. Very good experience, food in steps that lasts approximately 5 hours. To highlight the bisque and the pâté, but in general all the dishes are delicious and with very good wine pairings. Very cordial attention.

Very tasty and refined food. Very friendly and attentive service; not too formal or too informal. They have an open kitchen so you can see that they are a close-knit and dedicated team and everything just runs like clockwork. We will definitely come back here again, highly recommended!

A star restaurant in Nootdorp. Never known. Delicious food and drinks. Staff very polite but not too stiff. Nice short conversations while serving. Atmosphere is very cozy, tables are spacious. We had a wonderful evening. The chef greets you when you enter and hands you your coat when you leave.

Wow, de smaken zijn bijzonder lekker, de personeel super super vriendelijke, en de sfeer was gezellig, ongecompliceerd. Wij hadden een 5 ganen menú maar wij krijgen 3 amusen dus het was een gevoel van 7 gangen 🙈🤣🥳. Zeer aangeraden, parkeren is gratis en dichbij de restaurant 1 min lopen, dus perfect.

Eten bij Calva is altijd een feestje. Even voor sparen, maar dan krijg je een geweldig avondje uit. Je hoeft je gerechten niet te kiezen, je krijgt gewoon het fantastische menu wat elke zoveel weken wisselt. Wensen kan je uiteraard doorgeven.

Afgelopen weekend met vrienden bij Restaurant Calva in Nootdorp en het was geweldig. Het vriendelijke personeel verwelkomde ons warm en de sfeer was perfect voor de gelegenheid. De culinaire creaties waren zowel visueel prachtig als smaakvol verrukkelijk. De attente service en het heerlijke verrassingsdessert maakten de avond echt speciaal.

Meer dan voortreffelijk gegeten (wat een smaken!), met heerlijke bijpassende wijnen en vriendelijke, correcte bediening (je wordt in de watten gelegd). Ook direct contact met de chef, die je zelfs komt uitzwaaien bij het vertrek. Een aanrader.

Een echte belevenis, wat een top avond! ‘S middags werd ik gebeld door het restaurant om de reservering te controleren en eventuele dieetwensen te bespreken. Bij binnenkomst werden wij naar onze tafel gebracht, waar wij direct een glas cava aangeboden kregen met een drietal top gerechtjes. De bediening houdt alles zo goed in de gaten, dat je nooit je hand hoeft op te steken om iets te bestellen. De avond verliep super. We hebben 5 uur lang mogen genieten van spectaculaire gerechten en bijpassende wijnen, met goede uitleg van de producten die hiervoor gebruikt zijn. Na ons vertrek, kwam de kok buiten nog achter ons aan om naar onze ervaring te vragen. Dit maakte het plaatje compleet. Wij komen hier zeker terug. Complimenten!

Podria comentar muchas cosas sobre los platos y la velada, pero en resumidas cuentas fue: maravilloso. Unos platos espectaculares, llenos de sabor, color y autenticidad. La selección de vinos que hicieron tambien excelente. El trato recibido fue perfecto, indispensable para poder disfrutar de una buena cena con tu pareja o amigos. La temperatura del local fue idonea, me senti muy comodo. Pagamos 230 euros por 2 personas, y teniendo en cuenta que estuvimos 5 horas, estuvimos muy satisfechos con la calidad-precio. Me falta la foto del postre, que fue una autentica locura refrescante. Remarcar que la explicación de la comida y bebidas fue buena, especialmente al irnos cuando el chef y propietario nos pregunto sobre nuestra experiencia. Ha sido mi mejor cena en los 5 años que llevo viviendo aqui. Muchas gracias y volveremos!

Heerlijk gegeten, heel gastvrij en mooie smaken.

Hooggespannen verwachting op basis van ervaringen van vrienden en de reviews hier. Start: chef bij deur die keek of iedereen er wel was, 6 personen, enige vertraging ivm op slot zetten fiets. Geen fijne start, welkom heten kan anders. Amuses: TOP. Een bombardement van smaken, intens, maar zeker ook verfijnd. Soepje: heerlijk, kreeft, ingekookt erg smakelijk. Erna, mul. Mwah. Hoofd: zacht gegaard rundvlees. Op zich superfijn, echter begeleidende wijn van arrangement te sterk. Discussie tussen gast en chef over wijn, beschreven door zijn sommelier. Kaasplank: redelijk ok. Nagerecht: ok. Wijnarrangement: geen bijzondere uitgesproken wijnen, middle-of- the-road. Wel bijzondere Lanquedoc van lokale kleine druiven. Prijs: 6p bijna 1000. Bediening: goed. Voelde tafelsfeer goed aan. Resumerend: heeft niet voldaan aan verwachtingen, eten op zich ok, maar voor die prijs zoek ik verder. Miste vooral het welkom- gevoel. Jammer.

Het was een Symphonie aan smaakbeleving wat ons geboden werd. Hartelijk dank daarvoor !

Heel lekker eten, mooie ervaring. We hebben het wijn arrangement erbij gehad. Perfect, we komen zeker weer. Mooi gelegen ook in het oude centrum van Nootdorp.

Nou, nou, nou, ik heb een uitzonderlijk restaurant ontdekt in Nootdorp genaamd Calva en ik kan je vertellen dat het een ervaring was die mijn smaakpapillen verwend hebben. De sfeer was chic en modern, zoals je zou verwachten van een sterrenrestaurant in spe. Maar het waren vooral de kleine details die opvielen. Ik heb nog nooit zo elegant gegeten in mijn leven. En dan het eten! Het was om je vingers bij af te likken. Het was zo mooi gepresenteerd dat ik er bijna spijt van kreeg om erin te bijten. De iberico lende geserveerd met zwarte knooflook vormde voor mij het hoogtepunt van de avond. Ik ben niet zo een visliefhebber maar heb de makreel die in zijn waarde is gelaten zo naar binnen gewerkt..... heerlijk! En dan als klap op de vuurpijl waren er ook nog eens heerlijke wijnen die perfect aansloten bij de gerechten, gelukkig maar halve glazen besteld anders was de avond onbedoeld nog leuker geworden. Ik moet wel toegeven dat ik na afloop wat lichter in mijn portemonnee was maar betaalbaarder dan de gevestigde sterren. Maar het was het meer dan waard! Als je op zoek bent naar een restaurant voor een speciale gelegenheid (zoals bijvoorbeeld een rijke oom die je op bezoek krijgt), dan is Calva een aanrader. Het eten is een lust voor het oog, de smaak is onweerstaanbaar en de service is vlekkeloos. Dus, pak je portemonnee en kom genieten in Calva in Calva-dorp. Bedankt voor de leuke en heerlijke avond!

What a great place! Delicious food: beautiful dishes and delicious wines. Nice entourage in a neat and attractive setting. Chef comes to the table at various times and explains it nicely. We start with the beet. You always have to love it or not. Then followed the Grilled Bream with a matching Soave, which was really delicious. The highlight of the evening was the extra option: Signature Shellfish Bisque (pictured), which was very tasty. I'll come back for that one more time. Magic dish. Then followed the chicken oyster (photo) very special and delicious, never eaten before. The main course was a combination of lamb with green vegetables prepared in different ways, super tasty. The accompanying Syrah wine was also one of the highlights of the evening. Unfortunately we had to leave at 10 pm, otherwise we would have stayed a long time. We'll be back for sure.

Zeer gastvrij personeel, vriendelijke Top chef en erg lekker eten. Pure smaakbeleving en lekkere wijnen (ook non alcoholische wijnen). Fijne ambiance en de gerechten zijn buiten dat ze uniek smaken ook een lust voor het oog. Ook werd er voor mijn vriendin rekening gehouden met haar lactose intolerantie. Onze avond was zeer geslaagd. 10/10 for the ambience and the staff, they are just amazing!! The food is exceptionally creative and their play with the ingredients is super. For the main course I would have preferred if I was asked my preference between a plant based protein or egg. Super place to celebrate an occasion!!

Heerlijke originele gerechten en bijpassende wijnen

Oprecht hartelijk ontvangen in dit restaurant. Je merkte aan alles dat men trots was op wat ze te bieden hadden, en terecht! Heerlijke verrassende gerechten en wijnen. Zeker de moeite van een bezoek waard!

Echt een aanrader. Super lekkere gerechten. Die elk een plaatje waren om te zien. Een genot om de kok, in de brandchone keuken te kunnen zien die met passie zijn gerechten voor je klaar maakt en die ook nog eens een langs de tafeltjes loop en een praatje maakt. Heerlijke wijnen . Sfeer is warm en gezellig. En de bediening is ervaren weet waar ze over praten en super vriendelijk. Ik beveel dit restaurant echt aan!!!

Heerlijk avondje uit geweest. Fantastisch en gezellig personeel. Het eten is voortreffelijk net als de entourage. De 2 pubers die mee waren hebben het ook erg leuk en gezellig gehad. Tot snel 🌹

Alle juichende reviews ten spijt, was het helaas een tegenvaller. Gerechtjes in het vaste menu zijn op zich prima, maar missen finesse en balans in de smaken. Soms te zuur, dan weer te zout. Wijnen in het arrangement zijn goed, maar ook niet heel bijzonder. Grootste minpunt is echter het volkomen gebrek aan tempo in de keuken en de bediening. Vierenhalf uur is een belachelijk lange zit voor een 5-gangen menu. En een half uur met lege borden en glazen voor je neus is echt niet oké. Daarbij wordt een extra gerecht zonder overleg of informatie gewoon uitgeseerveerd en staat dan ook extra op de rekening. Ook het aperitief en de koffie, die volgens de website in het arrangement zijn inbegrepen, stonden als extra op de rekening. Zo werd het een een best wel dure grap. Op zich niet erg, maar als je dit soort prijzen rekent wil je blijkbaar meespelen in de hogere regionen van culinair Den Haag e.o. Maar dat wordt helaas niet waargemaakt. Voor deze bedragen (en minder) ben je elders in de regio veel beter uit. N.a.v. de reactie hieronder van Chef Tom Beckers: ik heb geen enkele behoefte hierover verder te discussiëren. Wellicht is het nuttig uw concept van een 'avondvullend programma' te vermelden op uw site, zodat gasten voorbereid zijn op een lange zit, en mensen die in een normaal tempo willen dineren een andere keus kunnen maken. En wat uw prijsstelling betreft, die mag u best nog eens tegen het licht houden. 5 euro per persoon (!!) voor een karaf kraanwater zegt denk ik genoeg.

Voor mij was het de eerste kennismaking met restaurant Calva. En wat voor eentje. Het menu, het wijnarrangement, de non-alcoholische drankjes, de bediening en de sfeer maakte het een zeer geslaagd avondje uit. In een woord fantastisch. Dit smaakt letterlijk en figuurlijk naar meer!

Excellent food and wines (and beer). Good service. Staff seems to be happy and adopt to the guests. And the chef also comes by.
