Beautiful restaurant with a beautifully designed interior. Delicious food with surprising flavors. I do not consider the location in the center of a modern residential area to be a success. Parking is also a bit further away than desired. I find a fixed menu complicated. I would prefer a choice of 3, 4, or 5-course menus.

Simply a lovely evening, a birthday with the family in a relaxed atmosphere with amazing courses.

A lovely evening meal with our family. Just like on previous occasions, we had a delicious meal again. Surprising new combinations of textures and hot/cold dishes. The mussels were a particularly tasty new addition. Furthermore, pleasant service and well-chosen wines, two times even a particularly good pairing.

My husband and I enjoy going out for a fine dining experience every now and then. This time at Calva. In one word: amazing!

We had a good meal, but it wasn't a special experience. We already have a lot of experience in Michelin-starred restaurants and missed the real "wow" factor in the dishes and wines. We are red wine lovers, and unfortunately, the wine pairing included only one robust red wine, which we have never experienced before. The staff is incredibly friendly and talkative; regarding the chef, I can certainly agree with previous reviews.

Delightful culinary experience with attentive and knowledgeable staff

We stayed in Delft but found this gem in the Michelin guide so we drove about 15 minutes to the location. The food did not disappoint at all. It was delicious and carefully presented. It was a surprised menu but they did ring us the morning of to ask if we have any dietary restrictions which was very much appreciated. The lobster bisque was to die for, the best I’ve tasted thus far. The staff were great. The Chef even greater. The wine (alcohol and non-alcoholic) pairing was good, goes well with the dishes. We left with very full and satisfied stomachs.

Last Thursday, we held a private dinner for a group of 53 at Restaurant Calva. The dishes were excellent, beautifully prepared, and served with great attention to detail. Tom and his team managed the entire event flawlessly, providing topservice and great wines throughout the evening. A truly impressive performance and a memorable night for everyone involved.

A culinary friend living in Nootdorp had told me a few times in the past about Calva and how incredibly good the cooking was there. Calva now holds a Michelin star, and I had the pleasure of dining there with him and another foodie friend. After a short walk from our parking spot, we arrived at a square lined with red carpets all leading to Calva. A beautiful fire pit stood outside the door. It was unmistakable! It is a beautiful, warmly decorated restaurant with a stunning open kitchen. You simply choose from the menu of the day, where special requests and allergies are taken into account. You even get a call about it in advance. Top-notch. In that super pleasant setting, we were welcomed—how could it be otherwise—with star-quality food. What inventiveness in terms of recipes and execution. Magisterial amuse-bouches. Everything executed perfectly. The accompanying and exquisite wine pairing is also served generously; no stingy fuss there at Calva. Having the chance to chat with the chef over coffee, you understand why Calva now has a star. The value for money is truly excellent. And… we didn't have to pay for expensive parking either 😊. On June 7th, we participated in the particularly charming initiative for a communal dinner. A resounding success, completely full. Fully catered with an amuse-bouche, 3 courses with wine and coffee. We ate exquisitely and had a very pleasant evening with our table companions.

While passing through The Hague, we discovered this gem through the Michelin Guide. It wasn't what you'd expect, but that wasn't a problem at all. What precision, what generosity in the cuisine of this newly starred chef! The ingredients are of exceptional quality, the dishes delicious, a delight with every bite! The tableware, the service, the wine selection, the chef's presence, warmth, and welcoming manner—everything was perfect!

Food was good and we were offered a variety of tiny dishes. The staff was courteous and polite. However, I'm afraid the portions were way too small to count collectively as a meal. I literally had to cook something for myself at 11 pm when I arrived home so I don't go to bed hungry.

This was our first time at Calva. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful dishes and intense flavors. The food and wine pairing was also very good. My wife chose the non-alcoholic alternative, which is served in the same glasses as the wine—often a similar color too, so it looks lovely on the table. Highlights included the coleslaw amuse-bouche, the flavor explosion of the bisque, the asparagus dish, and the confit oxtail. Even the bill at the end of the evening was very reasonable! However, there turned out to be a small mistake on it: wine and non-alcoholic drinks were not listed. After such a wonderful evening, we couldn't let that go and naturally pointed it out. With sincere apologies from the wait staff and a brief chat with the chef, we went home very satisfied. We will definitely be back. Good luck with your beautiful establishment!

The kitchen is open but quiet, and the staff operates with exceptional professionalism. The chef even called ahead to check for any special dietary requirements. The food was exquisite and beautifully presented, although I must admit that the full menu experience is just about okay in terms of quantity for a smaller eater (i.e., you get more than enough!). The cuisine is clearly inspired by classic French cooking, which is, of course, perfectly fine. The service is friendly and the seating is comfortable. The sommeliers knew what they were talking about. The price is very reasonable for the quality. I will definitely be back!

We made a reservation here on our wedding day. The welcome was warm, and our first impression of the restaurant was immediately good: plenty of space and lovely chairs, even for shorter people! The food is truly a culinary experience, a feast for the eyes as well. We really enjoyed the wine too. The service is very warm and professional; you receive plenty of explanation, and the chef also comes to your table regularly. Tucked away between an Indonesian restaurant and a Surinamese roti shop in the center of Nootdorp, Calva is a hidden gem. We are welcomed by chef Tom Beckers. It is a spacious restaurant where you won't be sitting on top of each other. The decor is semi-modern, and the atmosphere exudes tranquility and quality. We opted for the "De Belevenis" menu, supplemented by the signature "Après Pièce." The combination of flavors with the accompanying wines was a delightful experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Be sure to leave some room for the extensive cheese collection. The staff is friendly and takes plenty of time for you. All in all, a lovely evening in a Michelin-star-worthy restaurant. Another advantage: the RandstadRail from The Hague or Rotterdam stops right outside the door.

After a personal welcome, we were assigned a table. The space was tastefully decorated and exuded a sense of calm and coziness. This evening was dedicated to a winemaker who had brought a selection of his wines and was present in person. Throughout the evening, Carl Erhard went around the tables to provide clarification where necessary, but Carl was certainly also an excellent guest to talk to. The food was perfectly paired with the wines that evening, and positive comments could be heard from every table. For us, it was a perfect evening and definitely worth repeating. Carl, and of course the Calva team, thank you so much and keep up the good work.

Last Thursday evening, I had another delicious meal at this restaurant. I always look forward to dining in Calva at Chef Tom's. Welcoming, professional, and creative. An atmospheric restaurant where people work with passion. And the dishes are (and were again) top-notch. Fortunately, there are also 'old favorites' as well as new ones. The accompanying wines really do fit... Delicious!

Personally, I find the atmosphere just a little nicer when it isn't too busy. It is perfect for food and service, and it is an evening of pure enjoyment. Here, you don't just go out for dinner, but for a night out.

On Wednesday evening, I dined at Calva in Nootdorp, and it turned out to be no ordinary night out, but an experience that will linger for a long time. This is one of those places where everything is just right — and where you can tell that the cooking is at the very highest level without ever feeling distant. That Calva holds a Michelin star is entirely justified. Every dish that appeared on the table was not only technically refined, but also exciting and balanced. The bisque was intense and silky smooth, with a depth rarely tasted. The cod arrived perfectly cooked, with a beautiful tension between freshness and richness. The scallops were downright sublime, with an accompanying flavor that lifted them even further. And the pigeon… that was simply phenomenal: powerful, elegant, and prepared to perfection. The accompanying brioche, which allows you to completely wipe your plate clean, is a tasty discovery with a smile. Even the seemingly simple accompanying bread deserves a special mention. That was of an exceptional standard: full of flavor, with a perfect crust and crumb. Here you taste the craftsmanship of an artisan baker — a detail that speaks volumes about the dedication in the kitchen. What made it extra special was the beverage pairing. Instead of wine, I opted for the non-alcoholic pairing — and that turned out to be a bullseye. No obligatory juices, but thoughtful, layered creations that truly added something to the dishes. It showed that attention and creativity are applied here on all fronts. The setting contributes strongly to this. The open kitchen is the beating heart of the establishment, and you have a view of it from almost every spot in the restaurant. That provides energy and engagement: you see the concentration, the craftsmanship, the choreography of the team. At the same time, the restaurant feels like a warm living room — intimate, relaxed, and personal. As if the food is being cooked especially for you, at a top level. Calva is not a restaurant where you go to eat alone; it is a place where you completely immerse yourself for a moment in hospitality, craftsmanship, and taste. An evening that feels like a gift (which, in my case, it happened to be) — and one I would want to relive without hesitation.

I have seen many restaurants but this is without a doubt the best one yet… never guessed Nootdorp would have such an amazing place. Fine dining at its finest. They moved to a new location and received a Michelin-star as of 2025 so we went again. A lovely unique menu cossisting of approximatly 7 different courses with optional acompanying wines, selected by the inhouse sommelier. Time flies by as the waiters and staff take care of you. And with an open kitchen you can enjoy watching the man and woman hone their craft.

It is a amazing dinning experience with spectacular dishes and amazing flavors. Definitely recommended. Service was great and the restaurant is beautiful decorated and elegant.

We came here few days ago to celebrate our 12 years togetherness. Never expected before that the restaurant interior is so beautiful. Cozy, simple and elegant. It located in Nootdorp, small village close with Den Haag, Delft, Rotterdam. It easily accessible by bus, tram, and free parking garage. The food was fantastisch. Not only the taste is so delicious, but it also presented so beautifully. The art of food in a plate. We had 10 menu’s. All were perfect. If I'm not mistaken, this is a michelin star restaurant. That’s why their standard is high. Their service was excellent. Everything was on time. The staff are friendly. The owner and also the chef is a local Nootdorp person. He was the winner of the entrepreneur award in Pijnacker - Nootdorp. He came to each table not only giving a greeting, but also serving the food and explaining it. If you live in Nootdorp, come to Calva. Not only to support local, but also it’s worthed price and taste. Highly recommended restaurant.

The new location (since this year) looks very beautiful inside. Very stylish and with a large open kitchen. The dishes are very refined and very tasty. It is not without reason that Calva was awarded a Michelin star this year.

On Saturday, November 1st, we enjoyed the Experience Menu with wine pairing at Calva. The restaurant has a warm, atmospheric ambiance, and the welcome was particularly friendly. The amuse-bouches and the menu, featuring a lovely variety of fish and meat, are clearly of a Michelin-worthy standard and are accompanied by matching wines. We did not experience an absolute ‘wow moment’ in a dish, but the overall experience was excellent. What made the evening extra personal is that Chef Tom Beckers himself comes to the table to serve and explain the dishes, and also bids a personal farewell upon departure. That feels sincere and caring. In short: a very successful evening of class, hospitality, and refinement.

I had been to Calva for my graduation dinner last year before they moved. A truly amazing experience, the owners gives his guests attention during the dinner and makes sure everything is alright. We also visited Calva after they had moved, which we did not expect anything less. The layout and atmosphere felt different, but in a good way. After all, a new review for a disappointing experience. The first time was flawless; a fine experience, very tasty food, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Because the first time was such a pleasant experience, we chose Calva to introduce friends to fine dining. We have been going to fine dining restaurants for years, but the relaxed atmosphere we had here the first time is quite rare, so Calva seemed perfect for a first introduction. But what a disappointment. When we entered, I told an anecdote to break the ice (I’ll leave the details out here) about a truly fantastic Hungarian wine we were served the first time. The owner was clearly not amused by this, and he made that abundantly clear; damn it, where did that come from? Something meant as a compliment was not taken that way; the four of us sat there looking at each other with a laugh, wondering what had just happened. Well, that was the start of a very 'peculiar' evening. The table we were sitting at had a wobbly leg, causing the glasses to threaten to fall over with every touch. When we asked for another table, the man came back to the table with a look on his face that said, "Where did we get the nerve to complain about that? He couldn't help it!!!" He had already mentioned it to his partner last week, so we were told not to say anything at all. And believe me, it wasn't just a little wobbly, but scandalously wobbly. A little later, things even escalated to the point where we were angrily reprimanded for going to the toilet too often, according to the man. "Sit at the table, you guys!!!" he yelled at us. "Yes, sorry," he said, "there was someone with us who had just been discharged from the hospital and had stared death in the face. He had to empty his stoma there regularly; it is degrading enough when the feces come out of your stomach without being yelled at." The ladies were also smoking too often, according to the owner, so he couldn't get his act together at work. So much for the customer being king? Well, not at Calva, anyway. Subsequently, one of the ladies went to complain that she did not wish to be treated that way, and that seemed to make him come to his senses a bit and he even offered his apologies. Our evening was thoroughly ruined, in any case; the first fine dining experience was one our friends would never forget... hats off to them. The next day I received an email asking how the experience went. You had the choice to make the experience public or visible only to the owner. I chose the latter and included this story. That very same day, the phone rang; it was the owner. To be fair, it was a good conversation of at least 20 minutes; he offered his apologies again. He did, however, come up with all sorts of reasons explaining why he had reacted that way. Well, fine, I thought it was quite strong after such a bizarre experience; he came across as sincere... it shows personality to humble yourself like that. He asked if he could make amends; the business was going to move, and as soon as the new business opened, he would 100% certainly contact me to make things right. Everyone deserves a second chance, so I agreed and left the positive review on Google. This happened in September 2024. I never heard from him again....

For 5 years now, we have been coming to enjoy the dishes at Calva with great pleasure. New dishes every season, along with a number of constant signatures. Today, the news that Calva has deservedly been awarded its first star. Congratulations! And we wish you many wonderful culinary years!

Michelin-star worthy. One of the hidden gems.

A pleasant evening with some small points of improvement. We had a great time at this restaurant! The food was generally really delicious - the chef can clearly cook well. Only the signature dish (fried liver with layer cake, pear and apple syrup) was not quite my taste. That combination of sweet and savory didn't work so well for me, but that's of course very personal! When I honestly told this to the chef, I noticed that he liked this a bit less, which I understand but also a bit of a shame - we don't all like the same thing. The staff was friendly and clearly did their best to please us. There were a few small things that could have made the experience even better: sometimes there was some awkward service, the sommelier was just as difficult to get hold of for the wine, and we missed tasting it before the wine was poured. At the end we were a bit forgotten and we were not offered coffee or tea. All in all, we had a nice dinner and had a nice evening! With a little more attention to these little details, it would have been perfect.

When booking we indicated that we could potentially come with a kid. We were called and told that we’re not welcomed with a kid, they are not kids-friendly restaurant. What a shame…

The location is a bit hard to find, but ultimately proves to be a regal entrance. There is plenty of space around the tables, and we didn't let the atmosphere depend solely on the establishment, but also on the company. Certainly supported by the youthful, witty, and helpful staff at Calva. For the final amount we had to pay, we could have eaten many pizzas, but it would be a bit monotonous to dine "ausserordentlich" for 4 hours on just one pizza. Leave that to the chefs at Calva! TOP!

Het was de 5e keer dat ik hier heb gegeten en de chefkok Tom en zijn brigade blijft zichzelf overtreffen! 7 gangen gegeten met prachtige en gewaagde combinaties met zeer goed bijpassende wijnen. Heel leuk dat er ook een alcoholvrij wijnarrangement was met heerlijke 'wijnen'. Echt een aanrader voor een complete belevenis!

By far het beste restaurant in de regio waar wij in de laatste pakweg vier jaar hebben gegeten in zijn klasse. Ieder gerecht is een plaatje en brengt zeer verrassende smaken. Tot de gerecht van ons menu behoorden een onovertroffen bisque, fantastische schol en een perfect gemaakt beef Wellington. In absolute zin niet goedkoop, maar de 'investering' meer dan waard! Enige klein minpuntje was dat het wel een lange zit was, maar vind je het gek dat deze zaak bomvol zit...

Erg lekker en gezellig gegeten. Elke gang weer een verrassing met gevarieerde smaken en bijpassende wijnen. Personeel is kundig en enthousiast en vriendelijk.

Het was een mooie en heerlijke beleving. De bediening is aardig en gezellig. De koks brengen af en toe zelf de gerechten aan tafel. Het eten was super. Vooral het eigen signatuurgerecht. Kortom een aanrader.

We hebben genoten van een heerlijk, ontspannen avondje uit bij Calva. De bediening is top, het eten voortreffelijk en de ambiance ontspannen. Mijn persoonlijke was het dessert van mango en passievrucht.

A warm welcome, our bicycles were allowed behind a fence. Started with a British bubble, then only delicious dishes. Then think of a coconut soup with spinach, or a plaice, carrot, mussel curry and very surprising poultry quenelle, sour cherry, almond and mocha. All very tasteful. The accompanying wines were also very tasty. In short, it is highly recommended to eat there. It was the second time for us, but we live in Apeldoorn so that's a long way, but it certainly won't be the last time.

The fact that this tent does not yet have a Michelin star is a flaw!

This is the first or second time I actually give reviews. I was a regular customer to this restaurant. The staffs are very warm and professional. But I have to admit that, each time, we felt being treated differently by the Chef. Every time. We don’t have any improper behaviour. I always try to stand up with his attitude, try to ignore the bad feeling, try to avoid to make everyone awkward. But obviously this does not work. I am not paying to beg the Chef for dinner, and not deserve to be treated with cold face all the time. He may do not like us, but we are the customers, paying for dinner, and we behave nicely. The Chef should keep his personal likes and dislikes to himself. I am the last person who would like admit but it is so real.// Since lots PM, so I answer here: we went to this place just because it is near (when we do not know what to eat).We always have fine dinning, around this near area, not so many choices. But if you would like to drive a little bit, I would say not necessary to take the risk to get offended.

My 1st time at Calva was today. And I thoroughly enjoyed the Amuse and every subsequent dish, each time an explosion of flavor and beautifully prepared. The chef and staff explained everything neatly. And everything was taken into account. You didn't have to ask if anything needed to be refilled, everything was closely monitored and there was 100% attention for you. At the end of the experience, the chef will wait for you outside to ask how you had it and what your favorite dish was. After a good handshake you are politely let out. I will definitely go back to enjoy a new and fresh menu. Thanks for a nice evening.
