Comfortable seating, delicious food, and a reasonable price. Recommended for any day, but especially for a performance in the square, as we did.

Really pleasant evening meal. Went in quite late, restaurant was quiet but staff very friendly and attentive. Simple but very good menu.

Lovely meal in a very cozy space with friendly service. We were excited for the variety and chose two items from every category on the short but very thoughtful menu. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate. Favorites were the fries, which were the perfect texture, with tangy, almost sweet mayo; the lamb with carrot and yogurt, lots of flavor and the meat perfectly cooked; and the true standout, the peaches and cucumber starter with feta, walnut, and radish, the sauce from which we mopped up with bread and I could've licked off the plate. I could eat those peaches daily. The dessert of date cake with tahini cream was also very unique and fun, the cream tasting almost cheesy. The staff were welcoming, including to our three-year-old son, who was treated with kindness from beginning to end. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were politely warned that our food may take a bit longer to be delivered because the place was full and some tables had just been seated before us. However, the wait was not very long at all for our drinks or our first choices. The service was so warm and the environment was very relaxing. At the end of our meal, the space had cleared out. Our server offered some of her favorite sites to us, to consider for our visit. Our son had fallen asleep in our arms after his share of dessert. We all felt very comfortable and welcome. Thank you to Chez Fabrice for such a wonderful evening.

Before the performance at Carré, we had a surprisingly delicious meal at Chez Fabrice. The dishes were delicious and unique. There's something for everyone, even if you don't want to eat meat or fish. The service is very friendly. They explain the dishes and are very attentive. If you're going to the theater, I recommend booking a "theater shift." This way, you can enjoy your dinner in peace, knowing you'll definitely be on time for the performance.

We had a delicious three-course meal at Chez Fabrice! The menu is small and changes frequently, with something for everyone, and everything is fresh. The wines are all organic, and the chef specially created a dessert without cow's milk. The atmosphere and service are fantastic. Because most customers are attending a show at Carré, the kitchen closes relatively early.

Beautiful weather so we started outside with a drink, called inside on time, delicious food, right on schedule, quite busy ... we arrived at Carre on time.

We had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. The ravioli was very tasty, and the house blond beer is also highly recommended. The location is beautiful and the service is friendly, which allowed us to enjoy a meal outside. A larger terrace would be nice, but the owners have made the most of the space they have.

The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and everything went smoothly but without being rushed. From the moment I walked in until I left, I felt completely taken care of and served fantastically. The menu is clear, yet challenging and varied. It's not the standard dishes you often find in bistros. There's also plenty of choice and variety for vegetarians. In short, a great place with excellent value for money. A two-course meal for €36...? You can't fault it, and it's affordable for everyone.

We wanted to eat at Carré before the show, but it was already full. A Carré employee recommended Chez Fabrice, in the theater's old cellar. We had a wonderful time! The dish of the day was sea bass, and I think it was the best fish dish I've ever had. The service was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

In a cozy bistro setting, you can enjoy excellent French-Mediterranean cuisine. We had lamb pâté and smoked ribeye as a starter, and an excellent entrecôte for the main course. We stumbled upon this restaurant before a theater visit to Carré, and Chez Fabrice was a real discovery and a surprise! Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience at Chez Fabrice! We ate here before a show at Carré, which is almost next door. Plenty of time, no stress to catch the show. Delicious three-course dinner, consisting of a special gazpacho of paprika with strawberries as a starter, ravioli with feta as a main course and a strawberry Romanov and a coffee for dessert. Exceptionally high quality and very nice, relaxed service. We will definitely come back!

Cosy bistro at the Amstel bank, in rather silent and low-traffic area. It has some chairs outside so one can enjoy the view at the Amstel lock. Small in size, offers delicious snacks, proper choice of beverages, wine and spirits, and a friendly staff.

We went to a performance in Carré and had booked in advance. But due to all kinds of traffic jams, we arrived at the restaurant quite stressed much later. In no time they had relieved that stress with a nice glass of wine and all 3 courses served neatly one after the other. We actually wanted to skip dessert given the time. But everything went smoothly. The atmosphere was great and the food delicious and all for a great price and the staff actually 6 stars. If I go to Amsterdam again, I will definitely eat here again.

Very nice restaurant. We had a delicious meal before we went to Carré and it was ready on time.

Too bad I expected more. The price-quality ratio is completely out of proportion. The food was tasteless for both of us. A large group had arrived with us and the service was gone, we were asked once (upon arrival) if we wanted something to drink. The ladies did their best but couldn't pull it off. Yes, the restaurant is conveniently located if you want to go to the Carré theater, but I will not recommend this restaurant for dinner.

It was a bit chilly that evening and I wasn't prepared for it. The atmosphere here warmed me right up. A few steps down from the street, it was like entering a rabbit's borrow. A cozy table for two. A bottle of wine. The service all smiles and kindness. And the food was excellent. Kept me warm the whole walk home.

The evening of theater literally starts wonderfully. Very friendly employees, super tasty food, good wine.

Highly recommended: very friendly service and excellent food in a great atmosphere. With a group of 5 people, we all ordered something different: each starter and main course was very tasty and beautifully presented on the plates. In addition also very helpful when we had a special request. We'll come back, either when visiting Carré again, or as a nice place to enjoy diner!

A small, busy restaurant that primarily attracts guests after theater and ballet performances at nearby venues. They offer a set menu rather than à la carte, though you can order individual dishes, but it’s not really worth it. It makes more sense to go for at least two courses. We particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon and ravioli. The mussels, however, could have been fresher and more creatively seasoned. The interior is a bit too dark for my taste, and the service… well, it’s typical Dutch service. Overall, I’d recommend this place only if you're looking for a quick and simple dinner in the area. The food isn’t bad, but if you’re after a proper culinary experience, you’re better off elsewhere.

10/10/10 We were later due to a traffic jam, but we were able to sit down and enjoy a delicious meal before our performance. Food was fast, delicious and service was great. Is a cute little restaurant!

Food is ok, even though "smoked Ribeye" is just carpaccio with cream cheese. The wine (both the Tempranillo and the Merlot) is not really tasty. A good place next to Carre and a nice atmosphere. Price quite high in relation to the quality.

We went to the theater with Dutch friends and before going we ate there. Everything was delicious, the service a 10. We will return.

We both had 2 starters and main courses. All dishes were very disappointing in terms of taste. I wouldn't come back here for the food.

Had dinner here before our performance in the Carré. Within walking distance, very cozy. The menu is small but varied and good. The ingredients are well prepared. The ravioli was insanely delicious! We went for the 3 course menu. The prices are more than okay!

Lovely, cozy restaurant with a nice ambience. We had dinner and wine pre-show and everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Only downside was one of the staff constantly forgetting that we had requested something but luckily another was quick to rectify the situation. Would definitely go again.

Service was very friendly and attentive. Good timing too. The food is very refined in taste and good value for money. I found the space in the basement very small and when it was completely full, I could no longer hear my table companion because all the guests were talking louder and louder. Highly recommended!

Discovered while passing by by boat, more difficult to find by bike because it is a basement restaurant. The waitresses were lovely. We came without booking and were very well received. The French cuisine is very good, watch out for the extra "Breton" for the ravioli which were bathed in butter (but I still ate it all!). Very good strawberry meringue dessert 🍓 All the dishes were very fresh and well presented.

Very cozy restaurant to make a reservation with a group or to walk in spontaneously. Various French menu with tasty seasonal dishes. Nice staff and contact with the kitchen. And if you don't feel like having dinner, it is also nice to sit outside on the Amstel with a snack and a drink.

Every time I’ve been here one or two hours before closing it’s been already closed

This little restaurant is a bit tricky to spot as it’s down some stairs along the big canal/river, but it’s excellent. I rarely write reviews but I was so satisfied after my meal I just had to. I’ve never had ravioli that is cooked al dente, but they made it and it was superb. The antipasti was great. Normally it’s for two, but since I was solo, they compromised and made a bit less. Their ice cream is even great. Blood orange and fig! What?!?! I would love to come back here some day. Great place and highly recommend!

We actually just wanted to enjoy a drink in the sunset and ended up at this inconspicuous restaurant. Fortunately! Incredibly delicious oysters, langoustine..., swordfish, a delight!, zabayon with summer fruits. The recommended wine is excellent! Service, courteous. Succeeded

Great food and friendly service Seafood Fridays

Had delicious antipasti here before going to a theater performance. Fortunately, they are completely set to the times when the shows start, so you get your food well in time (even if you only have half an hour). Excellent prices, especially for Amsterdam, and the antipasti are very tasty. The only disadvantage I can think of is that the restaurant is a bit cramped, so you run the risk of accidentally tilting your table or something like that.

The restaurant uses French cuisine as a 'concept'. Without having either the quality (service and food) or the price of a French restaurant. The service was messy, the pasta and carrots were clearly undercooked and there was too much oil everywhere. The "moelleux au chocolat" was a chocolate cream... The restaurant has an unpleasant draught coming from the front door. I don't mind all this being imperfect, but at this price level: it's not acceptable.

Delicious food with delicious matching wines. For meat lovers, fish fanatics and vegetarians alike, really enjoy it for a good price and really good filling portions! With nice service and good service (and you don't find that much in Amsterdam these days ;)). When the sun shines, there is also a pearl spot on the terrace, and inside it is also very cozy and Parisian. Best kept secret in Amsterdam!🙏 Starters were so tasty that there was no photo left.

Terrible from start to finish. Although the restaurant was quiet, the waitress struggled to understand our order, even when we spoke slowly and repeated ourselves, and tried Dutch, too (my wife is Dutch). A medium rare steak came out bleu, barely touched to the grill on each side and still cold through the middle.

We went here for dinner before visiting the performance of Youp van 'Hek in the Carré theater. It is located next to the theater. A very attractive, cozy establishment. We ordered fish of the day and a vegetarian ravioli. You get some super quality olives for free with your drink. The food tasted excellent. We work very hard here. You hardly have to wait and you will be helped very friendly and gallantly. The door will even be opened for you. The prices are on the expensive side and the toilets were not very clean. But these are details. We really had a good time here and there is a very pleasant atmosphere.

Good and cozy restaurant. Do not take the roasted beets beforehand. That doesn't taste like anything. We received an incorrect email 1 hour in advance that our reservation had been canceled and that caused us a lot of stress, but luckily everything turned out fine. AND they apologized. Fine!

The service was very good (you don’t find it in every restaurant in the Netherlands). Ambiance was also very good. Not a too crowded and overwhelming place. If you look for a cozy yet chic restaurant, try Chez Fabrice! PS: would be good for dates as well!

Carré evening? Then you say eat at Chez Fabrice! Delicious food while enjoying a beautiful wine in the 'cellar of' Carré. The ravioli is excellent. We were disappointed that the menu was limited and we did not know this in advance.

Hier gegeten met 2 vrienden van mij. Bediening was heel goed, werd op de goede momenten aangeboden of we nog wat drinken wouden, we zaten dus niet te lang zonder. Het eten was echt fantastisch, goeie porties, goeie opmaak en natuurlijk heel lekker. De sfeer was gezellig zaten naast een groepje van 4 en we hebben ook kunnen lachen met hun. Ik kom zeker nog een keer terug!

Bediening was goed, Vriendelijk. Menukaart was een kladje, eten niet heel bijzonder voor de prijs die je betaalt. Er kwam een luidruchtige groep eten wat zoveel herrie geeft dat je elkaar niet meer verstaat. Denk dat je elders beter kunt eten voor je geld.

Leuk restaurantje met fijn personeel, er zouden wat mij betreft 2 tafeltjes uit mogen. Ingang is onderaan een trap, klein, lastig en zeer moeilijk voor ouderen of mensen met een beperking. Op het toilet kan je bijna niet bewegen! Kaart is beperkt maar wat wij hebben gegeten was goed, lekker en goed opgemaakt.

Heerlijk gegeten bij dit verstopte pareltje aan de Amstel. Mooi ingericht, fijne bediening en een bevlogen chef. De gepofte biet, artisjok en vegetarische ravioli zijn aanraders. Wij komen zeker terug!

Afgelopen week hier gegeten. De sfeer is er erg gemoedelijk en een leuke en lekkere kaart. Helaas is de avond met een bittere nasmaak geëindigd. Tijdens het diner is er helaas een plateau met drankjes over mij heen gegaan. Ik zelf reageerde vrij rustig, dit kan de beste overkomen. Echter is er daarna totaal niet proactief gereageerd, we hebben hier voor geen oprechte excuses gehad en omdat wij zelf nog een koffie bestelde kregen we deze van het huis. Slechts het minimale, erg jammer dat dit zo gelopen is en dat je blijkbaar meer stennis moet schoppen om goede service te krijgen. Helaas is de service dus echt de reden dat wij niet meer terug zullen gaan.
