Once again, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on the terrace of De Babbelaer; the service is always cheerful and friendly, and the food is delicious. Keep it up, and you will remain one of the best establishments in Lochem!!

The kitchen and service can't keep up. Long waits and the food was meh... it's not the ladies' fault, they are very friendly and really do their best. Terrace full of dissatisfied customers. The owner really should take a look at their staffing.

Nice, varied menu. It is special that the à la carte dishes are also available as an all-you-can-eat option, though in smaller portions. And even better: all dishes are gluten-free. A breath of fresh air for people with a gluten allergy. Why aren't there many more restaurants like this? A call to De Babbelaar: open a branch in Oudewater, for example! Service is quick and friendly. Reservations recommended. The place is packed. Even on the two weekdays we were there.

We visited Lochem this afternoon, 11/8, and had lunch on the terrace at De Babbelaer. Spacious terrace, well covered with parasols. The menu offers something for everyone. Brown bread with steak rare, mushrooms, and onions was well prepared and cooked beautifully rare. The bread with hummus was also perfectly fine. The young waitstaff had everything well under control and ensured that everything ran smoothly. We consider this a more than excellent restaurant.

We had a delicious meal at a fantastic location. We opted for the "babbelaars," small dishes. Good small portions, well served. Friendly staff.

Very friendly and attentive staff. They pay close attention to whether you want service and work efficiently. The food and the menu are simple but good. The concept of ordering various smaller dishes is nice and increases the choice. The piece of spinach pie was too salty, but the rest of the meal was well-seasoned. The beef tenderloin was cooked (rare) exactly as requested. Delicious fries, fresh salad dressing.

Cozy. Good atmosphere. Aperil Spritz is pricey and quite watery (I think €8.50).

There is one vegetarian menu on the à la carte menu. On paper it sounds delicious, but I have never eaten anything so tasteless. It consisted of three small dishes served on a plate from the tapas menu. It was more of an appetizer than a main course. The eggplant was a mouthful of snot, and the stuffed tomato was filled with a very dry curry and a small bowl of broccoli mush. For the non-vegetarian diners, the tomato was just a filler for the plate. If you want to eat vegetarian, definitely do not go here.

Had lunch here this afternoon; the menu was placed on the table along with the cutlery, and you were left to figure it out yourself. The croquettes were too dark and tasted just like they looked—burnt. My wife's toasted sandwich was cooked far too long, making the bread rock hard and the edges of the ham burnt. The price was okay provided the food was good. Now, it is way too expensive.

The ordered dishes were poorly prepared: the hamburger was overcooked and unimaginatively topped, and the goat cheese sandwich was very sparsely filled. The fries were remarkably good, though! Conclusion: could be much better! Little interest from the owner regarding the complaint.

Although we considered this our favorite restaurant, primarily for the experience and atmosphere, we must now unfortunately conclude that the quality of the food is declining significantly. In our opinion, this has been the case for quite some time. Dishes are unfortunately not fully warm, the ice has melted, but above all, they are bland in taste. The menu for the unlimited "babbelaartjes" (small pastries) has also been updated minimally, which is a shame because we considered this a strong concept.

The "richly filled" chicken soup turns out to be a kind of clear beef broth with a few pieces of chicken about 8mm square. A few pieces of spring onion and that is as far as the filling goes. Furthermore, this is the saltiest soup I have ever eaten. A second star for the friendly service.

Unfortunately, the food fell far short of expectations. The vegetables, in particular, were prepared without any love. They were tasteless. It is a shame that beautiful dishes with so much potential were served so tastelessly. I had ordered eggplant. That can be very tasty, smoky, and buttery soft, but this was still raw, hard, and tasteless. After pointing out that the eggplant wasn't cooked, I received a steaming eggplant back that had been heated in the microwave for a very long time. It had no flavor whatsoever. You expect that in a stable snack bar—just warmed up in a microwave—but not at a restaurant. Is there no grill pan available? Grilling an eggplant and charring it a little is exactly what gives it that smoky and deep flavor. Furthermore, the side dishes were also tasteless. Runner beans are supposed to be fresh and green, but these were gray and limp. The asparagus salad had a very nasty, sickly white, milky, sauce-like substance that made it very unpleasant. What a waste! Asparagus can be deliciously crisp in their simplicity with, for example, olive oil and salt, and then grilled. But this was sickly and nasty. Just like the fries. It was soggy and too greasy. I also find it a shame that you aren't immediately welcomed upon entering, but have to wait until the waitresses have finished chatting behind the bar, ignored us, and waited for a colleague to welcome us. She was very friendly, by the way, and didn't deserve for me to be so angry about the poor quality. It is not her fault at all. But her friendliness doesn't make up for what was prepared. We came for our daughter's birthday but went home disappointed. Furthermore, no attention was paid to her birthday in, for example, her dessert or anything else. Additionally, our daughter got sick later in the evening and threw up everything she had eaten. That was the last straw for me. She is never sick, and now she threw up on her own birthday. So, all in all, it was not a pleasant experience at all, and I wonder what is going wrong with the kitchen and the food. It is a nice terrace in the summer, but we won't be eating there again.

We enjoyed a delicious meal here with five people. We chose the 4-course "Babbelaertjes" menu. Appetizers, appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Each menu offers a wide selection of 8 to as many as 16 dishes. Something for everyone. Two dishes per course. Also included are fries, salad, and warm vegetables. Everything prepared with care. A special highlight is that everything is gluten-free. A paradise for someone with a gluten allergy. I only noticed it with the fries. You can also dine à la carte. The interior is cozy, see photos.

Celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary...everyone was happy. Everyone had a great time...it's something to look back on for a long time. The prices are also very reasonable.

Tasteless food, oriental-style chicken stew is boiled chicken in colored water. The cod is also boiled. A glass of wine at Babbelaer is two sips for €5.10. Highly recommended!!!

De Babbelaer has a cozy and inviting terrace. The service is friendly and attentive, which contributes to a pleasant atmosphere. The food was generally excellent. The goat cheese salad was tasty, and the burger was also good quality. Inside, the decor is pleasant and inviting. One minor point of attention is the restrooms, which could use a bit more attention. All in all, highly recommended for a pleasant afternoon on the terrace.

A fantastically lovely place for lunch. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient. The seating is excellent. I think it's a popular restaurant; it was packed. We ordered the deluxe snack platter. For about 27 euros, you get an incredibly good lunch. Fried snacks, bread, various meats, cheeses, salmon, and so on. In short: highly recommended!

Als we in Lochem zijn, dan gaan we altijd naar de Babbelaar. De kwaliteit van het eten lijkt helaas wat afgenomen te zijn. De bediening blijft wel goed en attent. Dit keer kozen we het vegetarische hoofdgerecht. Hier klopte de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding totaal niet. Groenten te doorgekookt en te kleine portie.

“Cozy” having a drink on the terrace at the Babbelaar?! First we asked to wipe our dirty table with a cloth but unfortunately there was already egg yolk from the previous visitor in my clean pants. Ordered two limoncello spritz. And moved inside because it was still chilly outside. The table inside also turned out not to be clean. And unfortunately there was no limoncello to be found in the limoncello spritz. A bad lemon juice with sparkling water. We live in Lochem but we will never come here again.

The food is ok, a bit pricey. A la carte a bit limited. The wine list for white is really bad unfortunately. A good full chardonnay creamy and fat would be nice. For me important for choosing a restaurant. Terrace is very cozy decorated.

Food was good, good service. I often forget something, but that can happen. However, what bothers us is that there were 5 menus on the bill. While we were 4 people plus a child. Got cents back. Only, our child (16 months) had already eaten at home. In consultation, we ordered fries for us, which could be included in the menu. She ate two more fries from that. These fries were also extra popular. We gave a tip of 15 euros, because we always keep 5-10%. We only found out about the extra menu afterwards. However, we found that it was expensive after this mistake. That couldn't go back. It's a shame that a nice evening ends this way.

Come here often. Always good. Great that it is a gluten-free restaurant! But it is also delicious food and drinks for people without a diet.

Ate tapas. It's not how it used to be. Mexican vegetables, are just peas and carrots, looks like frozen. Cremebrulee was just vanilla custard. It's not all that bad and a lot of it looks and tastes like ready-made food.

We made a late reservation so there was only a bar table available. When we arrived there was one person almost behind the bar, not a suitable place to eat quietly, so we left. Maybe we will go there again, but at first it seemed small and dark, so it remains a doubt.
