I never expected to find such a good restaurant in a marina! I ate here twice last week, and on both occasions the food was good and the service great. Then I tried the steak, not expecting much because in most restaurants I find I could have cooked it better myself, but got probably the best steak I've ever eaten. Described by our brilliant waiter as "stringy" - I think he meant "aged" or "mature," but I'm in no position to critique his otherwise excellent English given my inability to speak any language but my own - it was perfectly tender but with the right amount of 'chew,' perfectly cooked and perfectly matched with the wine. Dank u wel!

Nice place to sit for a while. The service wasn't very good, and there were drinks on the bill that we hadn't had or ordered. It was resolved immediately, though.

We've been twice in a short time. Both experiences were top-notch! The staff were sweet, friendly, and enjoyed their work. Gluten-free options were checked everywhere and taken care of perfectly. Whether with six or two people, we had a great time both times. The food was tasty and good. Dining here was a real treat and a gift.

After much hesitation, I decided to write this review after all. Not out of anger, but because I feel other guests need to know how we were treated. On Father's Day, my wife and I decided to go out for the day and have a nice lunch at Restaurant De Batterij at the harbor. We eat out two to three times a week on average, so we know very well what normal service and hospitality in the restaurant industry should be. What we experienced here is something we have never experienced before. Upon arrival, we first ordered a drink and then our dishes. My wife's food was served, while I was told that my dish "would be arriving shortly." Out of politeness, my wife wanted to wait until we could eat together, because eating together is simply more enjoyable. Ten minutes later, her meal was cold, and my food still hadn't arrived. When I asked the wait staff where my order was, I was finally told that my dish had simply been forgotten and that it "could be ready any moment." At that point, we had had enough. Mistakes can happen, but honesty, communication, and an appropriate solution make all the difference. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking. We therefore decided to forgo the meal and asked for the bill so that we could settle the bill for the drinks we had consumed. After a lot of walking back and forth between the wait staff and the kitchen, the chef, who turned out to be the owner as well, finally came over to us. His explanation was that the staff "still had a lot to learn." That may be an explanation for a mistake made, but never for the way a situation is subsequently handled. At the cash register, the owner then wanted to charge the full amount of the order, including the dish that was never served. I indicated that I was naturally willing to pay for the drinks, but not for a meal we never received. Eventually, the owner said: "Let it go." We assumed that by doing so, he acknowledged the inconvenience after all. But when we left the restaurant, we were shouted at by the same owner that people like us are not welcome in his restaurant and that we never had to come back. I walked back and made it clear that we were in no way satisfied with this treatment and that we would indeed never set foot in his restaurant again. What should have been a pleasant Father's Day ended in a particularly unpleasant experience. Not because a mistake was made with the order – that can happen anywhere – but because of the way we were treated as paying guests. Respect for customers, taking responsibility, and handling complaints professionally are, in our view, the foundation of good business practice. In this case, there was absolutely no sign of that. We were completely bewildered afterwards and were still talking about it days later. That is why I am sharing this experience. Not to badmouth anyone, but to warn others. My advice to future visitors is therefore: think carefully before visiting a restaurant where a mistake is not resolved professionally and where guests are ultimately treated in a disrespectful manner. Unfortunately, hospitality is nowhere to be found here.

Having given a mediocre rating a few years ago due to poor service, I am revising my review after my recent visit. The food was excellent and the service very attentive.

We celebrated a birthday with 20 people yesterday. We had the large hall. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail. We had chosen a buffet. And afterwards, ice cream. It was delicious. Enough for everyone. And we had 2 people who were vegan, and a delicious dinner was prepared for them as well. Everyone thought it was a wonderful time and enjoyed the food. Compliments to the chef and the wait staff. And certainly also to the hostess who arranged everything. We will definitely be back! Thank you!!!!

Tasty, friendly, and cozy :-) I was there quite late in the evening and still received very friendly service, and the spare ribs were delicious. Beautiful views too, a cozy sailing club (with 7 camper pitches as well; I was there with the camper; do reserve before 18:00 for the key box code!) and the beautiful walking area “De Oeverlanden”.

De Batterij is truly situated in a prime location in the Hoeksche Waard, with a fantastic view over the harbor of Strijensas on the Hollands Diep, right next to the beautiful nature reserve De Oeverlanden, a unique, pristine freshwater tidal area with willow forests, reed beds, and creeks. It is an important nature reserve for waterfowl and beavers, and offers recreational opportunities such as walking, observation towers, and nature experiences (this comes from Google). For nature lovers, it is ideal for a beautiful walk followed by a bite or a drink at De Batterij; highly recommended! I had a delicious meal on the terrace myself and ordered a tournedos, and in one word: Wow! I have eaten there many times in my life, but this was truly the pinnacle! The knife glided through it like butter and it was perfectly cooked; what a good and beautiful piece of meat! (I had the small version and regretted it). If I were served that on a plain plate, it would be fine too; pure enjoyment! The side dishes are also very tasty, and there is a wide selection of all kinds of fries or potatoes. The staff is friendly, the food is nicely presented, and despite the prime location, the prices are average—what more could you ask for? We had a wonderful dinner there tonight. We shared nachos as a starter, which were delicious. For the main course, my husband had the Hoeksche schnitzel and I had fish and chips. It's a nice spot near the harbor.

Nice restaurant, very convenient for those staying in the area. It's just a shame I was drawn in by the advert for mussels. But unless I specifically asked for them, they weren't recommended to me, and they weren't even on the menu (only in Dutch; should they at least have it in English? Or maybe they forgot to bring it?). Once they were brought, except for the ones above, the others were completely "flooded" in their cooking water, so unfortunately I couldn't tell if they were actually in wine, beer, or watered down. They were good, but you could really do so much better if you want to improve... The dessert, on the other hand, is truly top-notch! Congratulations.

De Batterij is a great place for a relaxing and enjoyable dinner. The four of us enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the marina. The welcome and service were friendly and prompt. The meals were delicious and more than ample. The photos show some examples. We highly recommend the various types of fries. The fish was fresh and delicious.

We stayed in the marina for two days and ate one evening meal and one lunch in the restaurant. The location is very convenient for the marina and the terrace has a great view. On both occasions the staff were friendly and were keen to help us as we don’t speak much Dutch. The food was very enjoyable and we would not hesitate to return if we are in the area again.

Attentive service and great dinner. The black August steak was buttery tender and the dessert - mousse au chocolat with pecan ice cream - was surprisingly delicious. I would love to come back!

Had a drink and ate bitterballen. These were good. The one, somewhat timid lady serving tried her hardest, she excelled next to her colleague, who came across as arrogant and didn't even look back after we had paid. Too bad, she seemed like an 'old man' who only worked for known people. I didn't feel welcome.

We ordered 2 cappuccinos and 2 apple pies. Unfortunately the apple pie was still half frozen. The waiter indicated that it still needed to be put in the microwave. After half an hour there was still no "warmed up" apple pie back. Finally paid for the cappuccino and left disappointed.

Party: 40th birthday Celebrated my 40th birthday last Saturday. Because the wedding was canceled due to corona, I wanted to do something bigger. Restaurant de Batterij is the perfect location for this. It started with meeting Patricia. It is a beautiful location on the water and all wishes are discussed. It is truly tailor-made and I think that is what sets the location apart from other locations. During my conversation with Patricia I came up with the idea of ​​the theme: Ibiza style with a mix of culture and especially an Indonesian and German touch, because of my background. The owner Fons Slijpen has created a delicious Indonesian buffet. The 1st round I had pretzels and Berliner buns. The 2nd round of Indonesian meatballs and spring rolls and then some appetizers. In the meantime, there was also a DJ and photographer and the party started. Wesley was our host at the bar that evening. And he did well and worked hard. Robbie was also involved in the organization and put the finishing touches on the project. And Britt and Wesley helped a lot with the decoration. At 00:00 it was my birthday and the prosecco bubbles arrived to toast and everything ended with a bratwurst sandwich or fries. I enjoyed it from start to finish and am grateful to the staff of restaurant De Batterij for making this great evening possible. Simply going out for a meal is always a pleasure. Thank you! On Saturday we celebrated our party in the Battery. It was very pleasant and the service and care was fantastic. The relaxed atmosphere and beautiful location made our party a success. Top restaurant.

This year we were able to take a breather at De Batterij and enjoy a delicious lunch for the annual Curio Cycling Tour. The location is attractive, the service fast and attentive. A tailor-made lunch was put together by the manager and she thought carefully about supplementing the carbohydrates. Wonderful resting place! On behalf of Curio - Thank you!

We sat comfortably on the terrace with a beautiful view over the Hollands Diep. Good and friendly service. The mussels were delicious. Very well prepared. The truffle fries are also recommended. The homemade tuna salad and croquettes with delicious bread were also great! Enjoyed!

I was invited to come here for a bite to eat at the invitation of family. Nice location on the harbour. The restaurant has a fairly large terrace, but we had a table inside. The menu is diverse, so there is something for everyone. Well prepared and neatly served by friendly employees.

At the battery charged my own battery and that of my bicycle during a delicious late lunch.

Very beautiful place that makes you want to linger there. But what a disappointment. We ordered mussels, a great classic in the region. They had no taste, very bland and a mini portion well below the 1200g received in other restaurants in the area. When we made the remark, our mussels returned to the kitchen and came back to us recooked after adding a large dose of salt and pepper. Inedible.... It can of course happen to forget to season a dish, but returning the same recooked and over-peppered dish is unacceptable... We were obviously not the only ones to complain because the mussels on the table next to us underwent the same treatment. All this charged 27€50.... The most expensive paid of all our restaurants. No commercial gesture, no excuses and no explanations..... Damage. 😢

We hebben hier weer prima geluncht, plezierig op het hoge terras met uitzicht op de jachthaven. Fijne bediening. Ik had vorige keer gehoord dat er op verzoek ook een vegetarische garnalenschotel geserveerd kan worden, buiten de menukaart om. Dat heb ik dus deze keer gekozen: stukjes vega-garnaal met gewokte groenten en saus op vers brood. Dat beviel me uitstekend. Idee om te onthouden.

Oh, oh, what a shame this is.... Yesterday it was a beautiful summer evening and it was still warm for a long time. Where better to dine than on the cozy terrace at restaurant de Batterij? More people thought this way, the terrace outside was not yet full. Upon arrival there was a sign telling us to wait until we were assigned a seat. We first waited politely, but after several drink runners passed us without even looking at us (all young guests, a matter of upbringing) we decided to sit somewhere ourselves. Anyway, it soon became clear to us that even after taking a seat, we were still not seen. After fifteen minutes I asked a kid if we could have two cokes and the menu...not to mention what's next. The dissatisfaction was also clearly visible among the other guests. People weren't looked at, they weren't helped, the menu came way too late, the food came way too late, serious mistakes were made. To make a long story short: it is a beautiful location and ambiance, but there was clearly no manager present to manage things and it was also not possible to make appropriate personnel planning. The girl who took the orders couldn't oversee it at all (hadn't she been working there long?) she did her best, but I felt sorry for her. Guests walked away or became aggressive. Just a shame about such a nice tent. You have gold in your hands. Also with the young employees who are there, but really need guidance and training. I hope you manage to get things on track. In that case we would certainly like to come back.

We had a delicious meal tonight for our wedding anniversary. Everything perfectly arranged, flower petals on the table and a bunch of red roses. Service was super friendly and did their best. Food very good. We had a great evening. Thank you very much again and see you soon

Vanavond heerlijk gegeten voor onze huwelijksdag. Alles perfect verzorgt bloemenblaadjes op tafel en een bos rode rozen. Bediening was super vriendelijk en deden hun uiterste best. Eten zeer goed. Wij hebben een top avond gehad. Nogmaals heel erg bedankt en zeker tot ziens.
