We had made a reservation, but it was Feyenoord day or something... it was sooooo busy, but despite that, we were welcomed really nicely; action was taken immediately to get us a table. We had a super nice waitress serving us... and there was even time for a chat... the food was delicious... in short, a lovely evening!!

We ate here on Sunday with four people. Very friendly and attentive service! They made all the difference! The food was tasty, but not exceptional. The carpaccio salad tasted bland and the pork tenderloin was a bit tough. Portions were fine, desserts very tasty.

We were here yesterday with a group of girls; I personally had carpaccio which was very tasty. Pork belly was ordered, but it wasn't good and had a strange taste (this was resolved and not put on the bill). The atmosphere is okay; it wasn't very busy at the time. The staff was also great.

We had a good meal, but I do think you get less and less for your money. Whereas previously, when you bought spareribs, you got almost a whole platter, now you get 2 thin strips for nearly 30 euros.. We both had dessert as well (which was shown in the picture with strawberries on top). The strawberries were disgustingly warm under the ice and crumbs, and they were sour too; inedible, in other words. Very disappointing. At €8.50 each, that was a real waste. The service was good, by the way. Very friendly, and they came by regularly to ask if we wanted anything else to drink.

The spareribs and salmon salad were tasty, but especially the lady who came to take the orders and also served provided good service and enhanced the atmosphere.

The truffle croquettes would have been fine if they had been warm. They didn't seem to have been fried long enough; they were still cold on the inside. Additionally, the burger was not recommended either. The bun was a bit too burnt and the cheese on it wasn't melted. ‘Back in the day’ you also got free refills of the fries, but that doesn't apply anymore either. There was a 45-minute gap between finishing the starter and receiving the main course. Really too long! Unfortunately, it was not recommended!

The food was good. The staff wasn't really motivating. They did ask on time if you wanted another drink, but enthusiasm was lacking.

It is a very cozy and beautiful shop! We were helped wonderfully by Jurren. He was friendly and also interested in us. If we asked him something, we got what we wanted immediately. Very nice!

Yesterday I had a High Tea at Bennie Beer, it was fantastic again, as always! A delicious and varied high tea, and more than enough. Normally, I have a preference for De Beren Barendrecht, especially for the always friendly and helpful staff, but this location was closed due to circumstances. What a surprise that the employee from the Barendrecht location was present at Bennie Beer; it made me feel even more “at home”. Dear Beer, until next time!

We asked for a glass of port early on. The answer was, "We don't have that, but we do have Merlot." Okay, go ahead and have that then. Imagine my surprise when I later saw bottles of port standing behind the bar. Oh, and if someone orders something, and after getting the answer "we don't have that" again, and then having to point it out on the menu yourself, doesn't exactly come across as professional either. After waiting an hour and a half for our main course, when we inquired, the response we received was: "Yes, but you have already had a starter." And in mushroom sauce, you expect mushrooms. Orange satay? And staff that radiates neither fun nor hospitality.

If Jurren tells you that the beer on the rotating tap is delicious. Believe him! It was a delicious beer! Thanks Jurren🍺

It is a shame that De Beren has declined so much in recent years. The entire branding has been overhauled, prices have gone up, and quality has gone down. More money for less quality. The high tea really doesn't deserve more than 2 stars... donuts, eclairs, and tompouce still half-frozen on the platter. I had informed them that I am allergic to cherries, yet we still received cherry jam with the scones (or so they said), but how difficult is it to just put a different jam on the table? Jam is 50% of what you put on a scone. Furthermore, the "vegetarian" sandwiches were incredibly uninspired. Guacamole, a huge piece of lettuce, and half a slice of cheese on top. Luckily, I received this as a gift and didn't have to pay for it. But it is not recommended. The service, however, was fine; the staff were very friendly and attentive. Furthermore, it was quiet in the restaurant, so everyone was seated in the same section. This sometimes meant that we couldn't quite hear each other.

The spareribs have become quite small for 27.50; you can no longer choose how many pieces you want, whereas you could before. Loaded Fries with truffle mayo are super tasty, the Berenburger is also delicious.

1 small hiccup. Asking if you want whipped cream with your apple crumble and then not getting it served. So just ask. But otherwise everything perfect.

The food was fine, our ‘law student’ waitress was incredibly friendly, helpful, and customer-oriented! The men's restroom was pure horror! The smell of urine was certainly not from the last few hours but rather from days, no towels available; in short, just very dirty!! So; enjoy your meal there and go use the toilet somewhere else!

Friendly service and delicious food. We have been regulars from the very beginning, and the menus have changed quite a bit. Everything is a bit more reserved. It is nice that there are good vegetarian options.

We went to eat here via Social Deal. We wanted to sit on the terrace, but it was closing on a day when it was 25 degrees. Fine, we went inside. The food was good, but unfortunately, the service was less so. The coffee at the end wasn't tasty and was very poorly brewed. We sat there for over 45 minutes after the coffee, but no one came by to ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Sending a message to someone didn't work either, as they just walked right past us. It's a real shame, because I often have good experiences at De Beren. Could this have been due to the fact that we ‘only’ had a Social Deal? I mentioned all of this when paying the bill, but there was no real response.

Once again, a lovely time and a delicious meal.

Today I came for dinner with a rather large group. We were seated in a corner near some round tables. Our waitress was super sweet, made small talk, and always made sure everything was perfect. A personal thank you to the young blonde woman (our waitress) and the friendly gentleman at the counter who paid us! The atmosphere was very pleasant; it was a bit busy, but we didn't notice it much from our seats. The restaurant is in a beautiful location! The food was delicious; we finished everything and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks so much, bears! We'll definitely be back!

Great value for money! Everything was excellent. Friendly service, and the pace between courses of our three-course dinner was good. There was a wide selection of dishes for each course! Absolutely fantastic! One point for improvement: my gluten-free rolls were wrapped in plastic and placed in the garlic shrimp sauce. I would recommend removing the rolls from the plastic and offering them on a separate plate.

We went to lunch with my boyfriend this afternoon. We had chicken satay and a burger, which were delicious. We had a really nice lady who served us, a very nice woman who enjoys a chat! We received excellent service and will definitely be back. And the food was excellent.

Unfortunately, a lot of things went wrong, were inaccurate, and the meals were inedible. We often eat at De Beren, and they're always good (excellent, for example, De Beren near Den Hoorn), but here in Rotterdam South, it's impossible. - Tomato soup with meatballs... served cold, and yes, there was one meatball in the soup! (Okay, you'll take that last part for granted.) - Rib fingers (we've had them before)—this is the meat between the ribs, so boneless. (You can find them on Google, and we had a chef with us, so we know exactly what it is.) We got regular spare ribs. We mentioned this, and the answer we got was: "This is different at every Berenrestaurant (why is the menu the same then??!) And "rib fingers" is the same as spare ribs (hahahaha). Well-conceived, of course. - The mushroom sauce was cold and had curdled. So inedible. - The spare ribs weren't cooked through and had a lot of fat. I left them. I'd never eaten such bad ribs. The meat was just stuck to the ribs, yuck. - Then dessert. Dame Blanche. There was no chocolate sauce included. I asked for it. We got the sauce, and it was just cold! Everyone knows it's supposed to be warm! - Warm apple pie, asked for extra whipped cream. It wasn't included. Then we had it via Social Deal, which is fine, but when we paid, it was also on the bill, even though we'd already paid through Social Deal. A difference of only €104, if you weren't paying attention. So yes, the food is terrible, and yes, the service should also pay attention; at a good restaurant, the service staff checks it too. Therefore, one star for the food, for De Beren ROTTERDAM ZUID.

We ate outside on the shaded terrace. We had a three-course meal. The staff forgot to bring the drinks we ordered once, though the service was friendly.

Me and a few friends came in here after a day at the Hollywood event center. We were expecting to grab some food, sit down for an hour and go home. As soon as we sat down and ordered drinks we realized this was not going to be fast. The drinks alone took around 15 minutes to arrive, and as you can imagine, the food was even worse in waiting time. We ended up staying in this restaurant for 2.5 hours with a waiting time of 20 - 30 minutes between dishes. The food was alright but definitely not worth this much of my time

The waitresses weren't friendly at all. The bar was almost empty, and they were rude about giving us a table, even though it was 2:30 p.m. The service was slow and almost apologetic for every food or drink we ordered. Everything was fine except for the waitresses' very unfriendly attitude.

I really enjoy this café and visit regularly. However, I’ve noticed that the tables could be cleaned more often. Hygiene is important for the great experience you already offer

Schiedam-Schieveste: This location offers more generous portions, particularly in the 3-course menu, which is currently priced at €29.95. Diner's report feeling more satisfied and say the dishes are well-plated and filling. Features a large indoor play area for kids, making it a hit with families. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming. ✅ Go to Schiedam-Schieveste for better portions, family-friendly vibes, and a more consistent dining experience. ⚠️ Rotterdam-Zuid may be convenient for events near De Kuip, but expect smaller servings and a more utilitarian atmosphere

Despite the ever-present Feyenoord atmosphere, it was a disappointing experience. The beer was lukewarm and the portion was small. I've never had such a small chicken club sandwich at a Berenrestaurant! Tasty, despite the lack of bacon...

The "cheese" on the bear burger really tastes like melted plastic. There's so much delicious cheese out there. I recommend this place to try their burger for yourself and see if there really isn't a better cheese out there.

Unfortunately, the service was below par. The ladies clearly didn't feel like it. They came across as passive, don't look at you, and seem very uninterested. If you want to pay, you have to look yourself, let the other person do it, otherwise you have to wait at the counter to pay. They clearly didn't enjoy it. We were there on Saturday evening, June 29, and the food was fine, but the service didn't feel like it. Furthermore, it was sticky and dirty: cleaning tables every now and then is appreciated. There were friendly employees behind the bar, but the ladies in the service clearly showed that they didn't enjoy their work (really none of them). It's a shame that you employ such people.

This is mainly about the service on the terrace. My family and I like to sit on a terrace after a walk. Because there are no other terraces in the area, we often sit at De Beren. We really like the drinks and the menu there. But now it has happened a few times that we had to go inside ourselves to get someone, had to ask ourselves if the tables could be cleaned, and that empty plates remained on the tables for a long time while no one was sitting there anymore. The terrace looks quite messy, while it is actually not that busy that it cannot be maintained. We understand that there is often a shortage of staff in the catering industry, but a quick wipe over the tables and a broom through them would be so much nicer and give a much better impression!

Hele leuke tent zeker voor herhaling vatbaar! hele leuke bedienster die je avond beter maakt! eten was heerlijk! na al die negatieve recensies wat naar mijn mening nergens op slaat. voor een leuke gezellige gelegenheid altijd naar de beren gaan. heerlijke spar ribs erg van genoten en mijn kids vonden de berenburger helemaal fantastisch. heel erg klantvriendelijk en sociaal.

This was my first time at De Beren and it really exceeded my expectations! For €29.95 we enjoyed a delicious 3-course meal with surprisingly good quality. The staff was friendly and the service fast. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and relaxed. It is located in a nice location with plenty of activities nearby, such as the cinema, Gamestate and minigolf.

Ate here a few years ago and now that I think back this is simply my worst experience ever in a restaurant. Disinterested staff, bad service and mediocre food. It was embarrassing to experience. Unfortunately we never went back.

Ordered 4 ounces of meat and 3 ounces of meat, medium. 4 ounces of meat rare and cold inside, 3 ounces of meat was 1.5 ounces of meat!! Manager helped us very well with our complaint, but they won't see us there again.

Despite being prepared for the peak crowd of the Di-recht concert in the Kuip. They were simply too busy to take orders, clear tables and also settle the bill. Plus also serve drinks. I saw that the young lady did her best. That was the most important thing for me.

Saturday June 14. There were 4 of us and we ordered 2 club sandwiches, 1 corndog and 2 croquettes on bread. A family of 6 arrived. 10 minutes later the corndog arrived (was completely soggy and very greasy). 20 minutes later still no food in total we had to wait 54 minutes for our food, the bread with the club sandwiches and 2 croquettes on bread was tough and there was a hair in 1 of the club sandwiches and the family we saw already had their food after 10 minutes while they arrived 20 minutes later than us. Fortunately we did have a 10 percent discount on our food and drinks but it was expensive in total 84.65. this is a warning always check the reviews before you eat or drink there and do not go there. and better not go here. Have a nice weekend.

Ate here before we went to Di-rect. Super nice host. Blonde beach boy like young man. Who did a really nice job. I told him that afterwards. But then the food. I understand that it is a big peak for the kitchen. But to put a cold chicken burger on the table. And 15 minutes later to bring 3 x satay is downright bad. And the service can't do anything about that. For the rest always good experiences at De Beren.

Bad, not like it was a while ago… We had ordered a few soft drinks, one of the glasses still had lipstick from the previous person on it. This is very bad, especially because of cold sores etc. Luckily we saw this and there were straws in the bottles. In addition, we were told at 21:30 that the kitchen was already closed. I personally find this very strange, but apparently they all wanted to go home on time. And the toilets were very dirty and not maintained.

Once and never again. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant. I find it strange that you have to wait 2 hours for your food because it is busy, but that can still happen. What really annoys me is that they lie to your face about the fact that the food is coming. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Then a lame excuse. We were done with it. This was not good: the reservation via the website had not come through, the portions are small, expensive, lukewarm and tasteless. Service fine, but it is no longer worth it. I used to eat at many different De Beren restaurants, but this chain has unfortunately had its best time.

I have eaten at De Beren in many places over the years and in general this was a positive experience. I can't say the same about this location. What a bad restaurant this is, it would be a good idea if the head office would let a mystery guest eat here The service in particular is downright tear-jerking. It seems as if the service staff is let loose there without any training and even looking at that you wouldn't expect this low level. The food itself was ok, but if you see what it costs at De Beren these days you can expect a bit more.
