Everything was excellent except for the temperature in the room. We had a table next to the entrance and there was a draft under the door.

The food was excellent, very tasty and just the right amount. The staff was always polite and friendly.

It was one of the reasons we decided to spend a few days in Kampen. We ate here last night and thoroughly enjoyed the food. We received a warm welcome and enjoyed the delicious dishes. We opted for the 7-course menu, which was delicious. And it came with a matching and a good wine pairing. Highly recommended!

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the chef/owner, who took our coats and personally escorted us to our table. It immediately felt welcoming. We found the menu a bit confusing, especially because there were no prices listed on the right side. This made choosing a bit more difficult. The food was a true treat, both for the eyes and the taste buds. Every dish was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. It was a shame that when we took our order, we were only asked if we wanted wine. The designated driver would have liked a cola, but wasn't offered that option. A missed opportunity in service. In terms of atmosphere, I find the restaurant itself a bit too austere. The light walls with black backing, white tablecloths, and white plates create a somewhat cold atmosphere. I also find the carpeting less hygienic. The chairs were initially comfortable, but after two hours, they became a bit uncomfortable. All in all, a positive experience, with delicious food and exceptionally friendly staff. The price is a bit on the high side, but the taste and hospitality make up for a lot.

Some additions for the reader. Dear Etienne, I've been thinking about writing a review about our dinner last Saturday. But I'll write to you (first) about what struck me. To begin with, No amuse-bouche, which is always a nice touch and doesn't have to cost much. We did get one last time. The starter, foie gras, was perfectly cooked, the pate was delicious. The side dishes didn't go well at all: sweet lemon madelaine and brioche, and a very sweet apple (fig?) chutney. Tournedos were in there, which shouldn't have been. You said that wasn't allowed, and didn't get an apology or anything. I ordered Turbot fillet, salty vegetables, lemongrass foam, and caviar. I received Turbot with asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, celeriac, and a potato garnish. Turbot fillet, I estimate about 75 grams. The fish was cooked far too long and too hard, therefore very dry; I didn't recognize any turbot in it. I thought there was caviar on the fish, but it was burnt fish. The asparagus was tasteless. The sauce was probably a beurre blanc, also of mediocre quality. The main course wasn't warm. The plate was black on the bottom, and when it was cleared, a large black ring remained on the table. Cutting asparagus with a fish knife isn't possible, so I asked for a "normal" knife. Dessert not sweet enough. This was the homemade Granny Smith with apple bavarois and green chocolate. A beautiful dessert, but: Dessert should be a slightly sweet experience. Back to the complaint about the tournedos: "You said I'll make it right with the coffee," but to my surprise, the coffee and tea (and the chocolates, later credited) were actually included in the bill. When my wife went to pay and she mentioned that she also had a dinner voucher, you said: "I expected that (why?)." Last time, when we went to pay the bill, also with a dinner voucher, your wife said: "How nice that you're eating here and paying with a dinner voucher." And what struck me is that there are no prices on the right side of the menu... That could be confusing, to say the least. And I also noticed: "The ventilation grilles in the ceiling are dirty, not a pretty sight." When my wife's main course was presented, the owner explained: The tournedos is cut from the best part of the chateaubriand, the tenderloin (that's right, I used to work in a butcher shop myself). After cutting a few pieces of meat, my wife discovered several tendons... A tournedos should never contain tendons, so this "tournedos" was clearly not cut from the chateaubriand, but from an unpopular part of the tenderloin. I also find it particularly disappointing that, despite a complaint, you have to pay for your own coffee and tea. This is not very customer-friendly. It's a shame that our memory of our previous visit to Bottermarck is such a contrast to our last visit. The level has dropped from a Michelin-starred restaurant to a very questionable one, a real shame. I no longer recognized the passionate/driven restaurateur of two years ago. Enjoyed a delicious 4-course dinner with matching wines, pleasant ambiance, friendly staff, warm welcome and a warm farewell.

Pricey, but very tasty and very customer-friendly. A bottle of still water was very expensive. The waitress passed in front of the customer a few times, even though there was plenty of room on the other side.

The food was delicious. The acoustics are excellent, making it easy to chat despite the crowd. The atmosphere is great. A truly fun and tasteful place to eat.

Best kept secret of the region! Quality as you would find at e.g. Aunt Koosje, and more… Absolute recommendation! We had a romantic dinner for two, and the chef presented super good advice and surprises. Brave flavor combinations, good wines and beautiful presentations. We would not be surprised if this would get a star soon! Have fun!

Best bewaarde geheim van de regio. Kwaliteit zoals je dat bij bv een tante Koosje zou krijgen, en meer! Food quality is good. Stains in the tablecloth not really neat. We have never experienced paying €8.95 for a bottle of tap water before, and instead of €5.95 (which is stated on the menu) paying €7.50 for 1 wine because the menu is outdated, we thought it was quite a big difference. All in all we were disappointed.

Although the interior is a bit outdated, when it comes to service and surprising meals, definitely eat here. Not a quick bite but real dining!

Went for lunch with our 4-year-old daughter during the restaurant weeks. It was delicious and also a very friendly approach towards our daughter. Had three courses with matching wine pairing. Good flavor combinations and right quantities. Would love to come back again.

A culinary tour de force, you can really enjoy great food here. Hopefully the new owner will also continue in the same company.

Been several times, for us the only real restaurant in Kampen

Last Saturday evening we had a delicious meal at De Bottermarck, very tasty, surprising and good value for money. Hollandaise is often served (with risotto, ravioli and cod), the cheese board was less surprising (but the hay cheese), I expected a little more choice of open dry white wine and a somewhat older port, but we will definitely be back!

3 gangen keuzemenu is al € 45 en als je dan gaat kiezen krijg je te maken met supplement iets (luxer ?) komt al gauw € 5 bij en dat kan aardig oplopen als je b.v. 5 gangen zou nemen keuze was ook niet zo uitgebreid. 2 verschillende hoofdgerechten gekozen en dat smaakte prima.Bij het dessert van de chef zakte de broek een beetje af,kant en klaar lava cakje op 4 -1/2 aardbeitjes die de chef aan tafel flambeert en er een piepkleine quenelle ijs oplegt en dat voor € 15 .Beetje jammer.

Terug naar De Bottermarck. Een jaar geleden waren we hier ook te gast. Wat een leuk en fijn restaurant. Huiskamersfeer, goede bediening, bijpassende wijnen en heel lekkere gerechten. We kozen een 4 gangen keuze menu (€ 55,00). Top! Mooie gevarieerde gerechten. De foto's spreken meer dan 1000 woorden. Tot volgend jaar!

My husband and I had a delicious meal at De Bottermarck where we were served by chef Etienne van den Burg who explained all the dishes in detail. We went for a 4-course menu with a delicious baked sandwich beforehand. Then came course 1, a cold starter with salmon and crab, supplemented with delicious seasonings. Course 2 was a specially prepared carpaccio. We thought course 3 was the most special, a 48-hour stewed scallop of free-range veal with its own gravy. Haven't eaten such a delicious piece of meat in a long time. For dessert we had "Heaven on Earth", a perfect ending. Definitely recommended to visit. We will definitely come back again.

Twee Belgische biertjes (Karmeliet) op het terras gedronken en we moesten €17,90 afrekenen. Nog nagevraagd of dit niet een foutje was €8,95 per glas van 25 of 33 cl.de reactie: Tja, alles wordt duurder. Kunnen wij helaas ook niks aan doen. En Karmeliet is een duur bier. Nou, ik wil best wel iets meer betalen op een terras, maar dit is in mijn ogen toch echt afzetterij en diefstal.

Wij wonen in Kampen en hebben inmiddels diverse keer bij De Bottermarck gegeten. Wat ons betreft het beste restaurant van Kampen, verrukkelijk eten met bijpassende wijn. Goede ontvangst (jas aannemen en bij vertrek assistentie bij aantrekken), vriendelijke bediening en bij elk gerecht een uitleg wat voor heerlijks er op het bord ligt. Zeker dus dat wij hier blijven komen.

Vanavond vanuit Oldebroek met de fiets richting Kampen. Gastvrouw heette ons welkom en mochten een plekje uitzoeken. Mooie menu kaart , heerlijk gegeten. Met een goede aansluitende wijn. Vriendelijke bediening door de gastheer en gastvrouw, aan tafel. Ook even het praatje. Gastvrouw deed uitgeleide Wij weer op de fiets huiswaarts. Deze lokatie een echte aanrader

Beautifully decorated restaurant in the pleasant center of Kampen, we had a delicious meal there - the quality, layout, etc. were all above average and the dishes were served at a pleasant pace, so the dinner was a success anyway. But as always, the people make the difference! The service was very attentive and kind, even to my disabled son! We will definitely come back again.

Updated 2/29/2024 We enjoyed it, again. This is a highly recommended restaurant for fine dining in Kampen! Very sad to hear that this establishment may be closing. Go there and enjoy while you can! An address to come back to! The sea banquet in particular is highly recommended for fish lovers! Dishes beautifully presented and tasty. At most, for us, the foie gras was a little too 'well done', it could have been a bit crispier and softer on the inside. Due to the considerable size of the 3-course portions, we no longer needed dessert. That's a shame in some way. Very attentive, friendly and professional service. Nice place with not too many tables and nice acoustics when many tables are occupied. If desired, the wine arrangement can be tasting a choice is made. Not a 'budget' restaurant, but that should be clear.

I had the 4-course seasonal dinner and really enjoyed the scallops, among other things. My friend had chosen from the 'standard' menu (which was anything but standard) and also had a delicious meal. Had lunch on the third day of Christmas with 3 people. We chose from the small menu (simple lunch) and had a delicious meal. The veal stock, for example, was particularly tasty. Small downside: the primal bread turned out to be still frozen in the middle - but this was quickly resolved. As far as we are concerned, other paintings should be on the wall, more in the atmosphere of the interior.

Het eten was heel lekker. Allemaal fijne smaakcombinaties. De service aan tafel was matig: er werd opgedreund wat er op bord lag, uitleg van mogelijk wijnkeuzes was matig en de glazen werden met geweld op tafel gekwakt: ze had haar dag niet. De sfeer is door de aankleding warm en aangenaam. De continu rochelende gast achter ons haalde het wat naar beneden. Het laatste kunnen we de Bottermarck natuurlijk niet aanrekenen.

Heerlijk gegeten. Vorig jaar rond deze tijd waren we hier ook, en een aantal gerechten waren nog hetzelfde, zoals de mosterd soep en het nagerecht. De prijs ligt wat hoger maar zeker de moeite waard.

Al zoekend via Tripadvisor naar een restaurant in de buurt van Zwolle, zijn we op aanraden van de recensies en foto's gaan dineren bij De Bottermarck in Kampen. gebeld en we kregen de laatste beschikbare tafel. Een parkeerplaats was gemakkelijk gevonden op een paar minuten loopafstand. We werden hartelijk ontvangen en kregen een mooi ingedekte tafel. Het restaurant straalt sfeer uit, grandeur in het eeuwenoude pand. De bediening was leuk. vlotte dames die weten waar ze over praten. Goede uitleg van de menukeuze mogelijkheden. Leuk is dat je uit de aangeboden gangen helemaal elf 3, 4 of zelfs tot 7 gangen kunt kiezen. Je hoeft dus niet voor- hoofd- na te kiezen. Wij kozen voor-, tussen en een hoofdgerecht in afwachting of er nog "plaats over bleef voor een dessert". Na een mooie seizoen amuse werden de gangen in een mooi, niet te snel tempo opgediend. In één woord HEERLIJK! Mooie smaken, mooi gedrapeerd op het bord en met de wijnsuggesties erbij van de bediening was het helemaal af. Het werd een avondje uit, gezellig, een serene sfeer en heel lekker eten. Jammer dat Kampen drie uur rijden van Zuid-Limburg ligt, maar we komen terug!

Ik ben ontzettend verrast! Van een kunstwerk wat op tafel word gezet, naar een belevenis in je mond. Onwijs genoten van alles! Bediening was zeer prettig en vakkundig. Wij komen zeker, graag nog eens terug.

Afgelopen week zijn wij hier wezen eten voor mijn verjaardag. Het eten en de service waren echt super. Wij komen hier zeker weten weer!

Wat een heerlijke avond met voortreffelijke, geraffineerde gerechten. Vooral de coquilles zijn qua presentatie als qua smaak het vernoemen waard. Dit restaurant is zeker aan te raden!

Vanmiddag even wezen lunchen. Als enige gast, maar vanwege werk (doorreis) was dat geen probleem. De dame in kwestie, welke verantwoordelijk was voor de gasten was zeer vriendelijk. Haar gastronomie nam ze dan ook zeer professioneel op. Naast de zeer uitgebreide kaart, gekozen voor een ''broodje beenham''. Een uiterst vers broodje met een zeer goede afgewogen combinatie van beenham, salade en dressing. Een koffie nadien, met bonbon, waarbij de kwaliteit zeker merkbaar was. Tenslotte de rekening. Die viel naar mijn mening mee, temeer omdat de kwaliteit van enerzijds de gastronomie en anderzijds het eten uitmuntend was. Absolute aanrander om te bezoeken. De sfeer geef ik een 4 op 5, omdat ik als enige binnen zat (excl de mensen op het terras ondanks regen).

Maar het belangrijkste is natuurlijk het eten en de service. Deze zijn kort samengevat uitmuntend te noemen.

We hebben hier goed gegeten en de bediening is van een hoog niveau. Het interieur is ietwat gedateerd, maar dat wordt goedgemaakt door de kwaliteit van eten & service. Een aanrader voor wie houdt van culinair genieten.
