I was immediately impressed by the decor of the restaurant. We were greeted so warmly right away – it was a delight. We also liked the selection and quality of the food. Unfortunately, I felt the portion sizes didn't match the prices. The pricing was far too bold for me.

A great fish restaurant. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but what was served inside was once again sublime. The four of us were pampered by the knowledgeable, attentive and friendly staff who did everything they could to meet my small requests. As with the crispy, fresh, just baked bread roll, there was a spread of aioli, normally I like a good aioli, but the garlic often ruins the delicate taste of the fresh fish. I find butter a better and more suitable spread for the bread. All sorts of goodies were also put on the table, a delicious amuse, entree, main and surprisingly good dessert. The waiting times between courses were completely fine. The drinks were fine, we thoroughly enjoyed the pleasant decor, the comfortable chairs at a cozy round table, -how nice it is to sit and talk with several people- all four of us. The table water was pleasantly enhanced by the crispy mint that was added in more than enough.

Very good restaurant. The welcome is warm, the waitress attentive, even very caring. We had a very good meal. I have an allergy, I mentioned it, and everything was taken into account. I highly recommend it.

You don't expect it when you walk or drive onto the Trawlerkade. Yet it is reality: a little further on there is an excellent fish restaurant. It has a wide choice of dishes and wines. We chose the Turbot for the main course.

Friendly welcome, we had made a reservation. We got an amuse of herring, great starter. Starter: tuna cream puff with pickled ginger. Main course: turbot with mysteriously soft rhubarb. Good wine with it (rueda) and attentive service until the end. Absolutely recommended!

Overcooked turbot was a waste. The meat was dry and tasteless. A fish restaurant should know that turbot is a delicate fish. The rest of the dishes were delicious. I complain but several employees reacted defensively not so friendly in my opinion. 3 stars because of the disappointment otherwise I would have given 5.

Very good food, but when the service staff complain about the customers in front of other customers, it leaves a very bland aftertaste.

William understands perfectly how to make his restaurant a warm home for his guests and he has also conveyed this very well to his staff. The food is also of exceptionally high quality and prepared with great care. There were five of us this time and certainly not for the last time!

In one word: great. Attentive service, good food, everything neat and clean, just as it should be.

Old and familiar address at the fishing harbor in IJmuiden. Always good food and good wines. The same now. Triptych of shrimp, salmon and eel and the smoked eel as starters were very good. Main courses: cod fillet with buttery asparagus and tuna tataki with grilled vegetables also fine.

Oud en vertrouwd adres aan de vissershaven in IJmuiden. Altijd goed eten en goede wijnen. Zo ook nu. Drieluik van garnalen, zalm en paling en de gerookte paling als voorgerechten scoren een dikke voldoende. Hoofdgerechten: kabeljauwfilet met boterzacht asperges en tonijn tataki met gegrilde groenten ook prima in orde.

Fish restaurant to try when you go to Harlem or Amsterdam - The interior is nice and the food is good - and the waitress made the effort to say a few words in French.

Heerlijke, verse gerechten, ook zeer vriendelijke bediening, snelle service, we moesten echt niet lang wachten op onze gerechten, via de site nog voor diezelfde avond gereserveerd. De scampi’s en fish&chips waren heerlijk vers, enkel als dessert vond ikzelf de Tiramisu wat aan de droge kant. Ook een mooie, nette zaak die gezellig is ingericht. Zeker een aanrader.

The food was delicious, but the dishes came together quickly. Probably because the place was quite full. But that didn't spoil the fun. Definitely worth repeating.

Everything is good at the Meerplaats. Friendly welcome, pleasant lady serving (accurate, but not pushy) and... fantastic food. Not dirt cheap, but very good. House wines very tasty and certainly not expensive. Here we come. It's a pity that the place is not the most beautiful, but you are really in IJmuiden and that is a working city and you like to take that for granted.

Delicious food. Fish of course. Great atmosphere, nice environment. And even though it was super busy, you didn't notice anything about the people who work there. They remained calm, friendly and did not seem rushed. Respect. Combined with an evening at the Harbor Theater. A golden combination, but make sure you reserve.

Very nice discovery, The menu has very good, mastered dishes. The atmosphere is rather cozy, adult and cozy (during 3 visits, never seen children inside) To recommend with your eyes closed. Animals are accepted in the establishment.

Wat een verrassing was dit zeg! Met meer dan 20 personen in een afgescheiden ruimte een diner hebben, met een menu voor elk wat wils en wat was het lekker! Van pittige gamba tot tournedos, van dameblache tot kreeftensoep. Echt elke gast zat te smullen. Ik ben al jaren uit Ijmuiden verhuisd , maar vandaag was echt thuiskomen. De kwaliteit boven verwachting! Dank jullie wel.

When we arrived at our destination, it didn't look special from the outside, but once we got inside we were overwhelmed. Everything radiated towards shipping and especially the fishing boats. The service is friendly and helpful and the food is truly fish and more fish. And that's how it should be in a fish restaurant. We will definitely come again.

Wat hebben wij lekker gegeten!!! Restaurant ligt in het ruwe havengebied. We werden aan de deur ontvangen door de eigenaar die duidelijk weet hoe een restaurant moet worden gerund. Het restaurant zat bomvol, de inrichting, verlichting de sfeer de vriendelijke bediening deden ons al vermoeden dt we hier niet teleurgesteld zouden vertrekken. We aten een visproeverij als voorgerecht, zeebaarsfilet en Provençaals stoofpotje als hoofdgerecht, alles super lekker. Ook de gekozen wijn was top. Proficiat!!! Wat hadden we dit restaurant graag in onze buurt gehad.

Very likeable 🤗 There was a brief explanation of the current daily specials and menus, a greeting from the kitchen and a relatively short but promising menu. Had dinner here tonight with six of us for my brother's birthday celebration and I thought it was fantastic! When you arrive in the port of IJmuiden, restaurant De Meerplaats is located on a corner next to the quay with boats. There was an article on the door stating that the restaurant has been known for its specialty fresh fish dishes for 30 years. After my mother told me that my grandmother used to come here sometimes, I became really curious. From the moment we arrived, we were immediately placed at a beautiful round table and provided with delicious bubbles, an appetizer and bread. In addition to the friendly and smooth service, the food was really fantastic. We tried/shared several starters and my tuna steak as a main rounded it off perfectly. You could taste how fresh everything was and that only made me more curious about all the other dishes (wide menu). Finally, with dessert, a surprise fireworks display for my brother's birthday! 😁 Service top notch Food great Thanks! 🍀

Op zaterdagavond naar de Meerplaats gegaan en wij hadden gelukkig gereserveerd want het was best druk. Vriendelijke ontvangst en onze serveerster informatief maar met humor. Heerlijke visgerechten, vers natuurlijk, uitgekozen. Een heerlijke pouilly er bij gedronken en paste perfect bij de vis. Kort om,een top avond en erg genoten! Wij komen zeker nog een keertje terug ⏪

Very nice staff and delicious food. Would love to come back. I had steak and my wife fish, both were tasty and sufficient. My junior had kibbling and eaten ice cream. Afterwards there was a little surprise for him, which made him very happy.

A fish restaurant like you rarely experience. Authentic, fresh and simply delicious. We had tuna as a starter, a huge clam pot for two as a main course and the limoncello tiramisu for dessert. A perfect evening in a beautiful atmosphere with the best food and great service. Thank you!
