The food was fine, but there are a few points for improvement regarding the service, such as coming by more often to ask if everything is to our liking and checking if there are empty glasses.

Delicious high tea, nice view of the water, they easily accommodate dietary requirements, and friendly staff.

The restaurant is perfect, the service friendly, but having to pound your food at such a pace... my plate wasn't even empty yet, plate taken away, bill... pff, I had the feeling it would be over in no time, next mass production. It makes sense, though; I wouldn't mind if it were a bit calmer and more relaxed. I understand that time is money, but I pay to enjoy a meal in peace, and pff, I won't be doing that again anytime soon.

We got married here this year. Truly a fantastic location. We had moved the date back a year, but that wasn't a problem for them. We had good communication, and the master of ceremonies was satisfied too :) The day itself was also top-notch, luxurious and lavish. Lovely staff. We passed on our wishes and they were really taken seriously. Every time we visited, there was personal attention for the (future) bride and groom. Affordable but lovely and highly recommended. Also great for a quick dinner or a drink.

Amazing food ..stayed the night in camper was quite enough

Unfortunately, yesterday was the first time we had a less-than-ideal experience here. It took quite a while before we were served (for our drinks orders to be taken), and we then had to ask for the lunch menu ourselves. When the food arrived, we immediately ordered a drink, which unfortunately only arrived when the food was almost finished. We mentioned this to the boy who brought the drinks, and he said he would pass it on to his supervisor. We heard nothing more about it afterwards, and at the cash register, no one asked if everything had been to our liking or anything like that! Also, one of our lunch dishes was supposed to include a salad that was not brought along, and we had to ask for it ourselves as well. All in all, disappointing and certainly not what we are used to here. We still need to think carefully about whether we will go here again...

I had reserved a table for 2 at 5:00 PM. We were shown to our table, and that is where the service stopped. We asked if we could order something to drink. We ordered, but then had to ask twice where it was. The menu was supposed to be brought to our table immediately after we sat down. We asked for this several times as well. People who came in after us were served immediately. Then we had to wait for our order to be taken. This also took well over 20 minutes, so we decided to only order a main course. We received one bowl of fries, while other tables each received a bowl of fries. We asked for the bill, which arrived within a few minutes. I indicated on the spot that we were severely disappointed and therefore did not order a starter or dessert. No apologies. Service is far below par. Once is enough. H. We went out for dinner yesterday; we had sole, which was delicious, but the flies thought so too. That was really unpleasant, and not just one, but several. So our appetite was quickly gone. We mentioned it when paying the bill and said, "Yes, that is a problem. You definitely need to do something about that." The staff was friendly, but you won't see me there again.

Had high tea with family for an aunt's birthday. What a disaster. I don't understand the good reviews. The service is absolutely terrible. I asked for coffee for my husband four times; he doesn't drink tea, but it was eventually brought. After the first course, the sweet treats were brought, and I ordered new coffee. The sweet treats consisted of half a box of chocolates, a small croissant, crème brûlée, and that was it. Oh, and the two coffees still haven't been brought. By the way, high tea is supposed to include a sandwich, scones, jam, and brownies.

It was very crowded and noisy. Attentive staff, but they didn't serve more than one course per hour. So take your time. The food is of good quality.

Beautiful location with ample parking. Camper spots, a charging station for electric bikes, and a playground for the kids, so everyone is really thought of right from the moment you arrive. The atmosphere is great and there are many spots with a beautiful view of the Spui. The food is good, the prices are really great, and the food is really good. The service is top-notch every time and we love coming here!

Focused solely on maximizing production, so don't just drop by spontaneously for a cup of coffee on the terrace, because you can only go there with a reservation. Business-oriented is fine, of course, but a no-go for spontaneous customers.

Finally found our way to De Oude Tol. In short, we should have done this years ago. It is true what it says: thoroughly enjoying delicious food in a lovely, relaxed atmosphere at a beautiful location. In one word: fantastic. The route is now etched in stone in our memory.

We ate here with 14 girlfriends and unfortunately had a very bad experience. One dish arrived much too late and the meat was clearly not as ordered (certainly not medium rare). When we pointed this out politely, the owner reacted extremely rudely and in an unpleasant tone. Instead of offering a solution, he wanted to prove himself right at all costs and walked away while people were still talking to him. Mistakes can happen, but customer friendliness was nowhere to be found here. Absolutely not recommended.

The moment staff start arguing with me as a customer—"the meat was perfectly prepared, that's how we always do it"—that’s really the end of it for me. I ended up at Paviljoen de Oude Tol in Oud-Beijerland for a family dinner. I was looking forward to a medium-rare bavette. On the plate lay a few pieces of meat, varying from thick to thin. Ever heard of carving? Very well-done (sometimes even grey) and cold. "Perfect," according to the young waiter. It's a good thing I was here by invitation, otherwise I would have found my way to the exit quickly. The suggestion was that I should just take the more expensive cut of meat, "Steak de Oude Tol," which was supposed to be tender. My husband had that one, but it really wasn't much better. After a short but annoying discussion (surely they didn't do any hospitality training?), my husband received a condescending pat on the shoulder: "Sure, sir." I asked for a new plate of bavette. That was going to take a veeeery long time. The second attempt was much better in terms of doneness after I asked them to cook it for a shorter time and at least make sure it was warm. Given the price, 'quality', and rude service (that doesn't apply to the lady, she was a nice girl!): not worth repeating.

Good food and excellent service. The menu is limited, but everything is delicious. We highly recommend the appetizer platter (with various appetizers). What's striking is that almost all the guests are over 50, though we haven't figured out why. Especially in the summer, it's a great spot with a view of the Spui. Plenty of free parking and a playground for children in the backyard.

January 24, 2026 with 16 people we went to eat at Oude Tol. We had the 3-course deluxe menu, everyone was very satisfied, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was very good, we will be back soon.

Honestly, I don't understand the good reviews. I tried it again this week, but I find the quality poor. Two soggy sandwiches with a soft croquette, and what was supposed to be an avocado turned out to be a green sludge with a fried egg. The tomato soup was okay. I had to pay 15 euros for it. Definitely the last time for us. Last time, they also had bitterballen, which were just soft and barely cooked. I'd say forget it. The service was good, though.

The welcome was warm, but the waitress who arrived later was much less friendly. The sole was delicious, but it was a shame about the mini salad and the tiny portion of fries for that price. The game stew was served in a pan that came from a children's kitchen set—absolutely so small. The game had just run through it. It was just tomato, onion, and mushrooms. The promised bottle of table water wasn't served either. A one-time visit for us.

Came for lunch today with my son. We both chose warm goat cheese sandwiches. It was truly delicious. The waitresses were lovely and the service was fantastic. It was totally worth the hour and a half drive (from Middelburg). We'll be back soon.
