Always worth the trip from England! The atmosphere, the Decor, the staff…. incredible. However the food is unbelievable, we have eaten here a few times and every time I end up saying that’s the best meal I have ever had, and we have been lucky enough to dine in restaurants all round the world. A fantastic evening! Michelin-star level dining, but without the star prices. The team does a top-notch job, both in the kitchen and at the table. The service is professional, friendly, and creates a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. No excessive formalities, just pure craftsmanship with a smile. This restaurant deserves a place among the greats. A must for anyone who loves good food.

Beautiful location and friendly service. Unfortunately, we found the wait times between courses far too long. The portions were large, but lacked the refinement we had expected. Moreover, the coffee was very weak. All in all, a disappointing experience, especially given the restaurant's excellent reputation.

After often driving past, we went for dinner at De Watermolen in Velp yesterday and had a wonderful evening. Food, service, atmosphere—everything is perfect. Incredibly friendly staff, pleasant to chat with, and offering advice. During a conversation, we mentioned that we had been together for 3 years, to which the owner followed half an hour later with a bowl of delicious olives that they marinate themselves and a card as a congratulation. It’s not about the free olives, but the gesture; a solid 10! Absolutely recommended; there is also a cozy courtyard when the weather is nice. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful meal here tonight. The service was excellent, the food was delicious (especially the Nougat Parfait for dessert!), and the restaurant has a calm, pleasant atmosphere.

Yesterday, my family and I celebrated my father's 70th birthday. The staff and the owner truly made it an unforgettable evening. The food was a perfect 10, the staff were super friendly and welcoming, and my father was even given a very thoughtful gift. Dietary requirements were also well taken into account. Highly recommended!

2 euro restaurant if I may say so I go during the day during normal hours. The employees say the place is closed. I go in the evening and at night around 10pm. Also closed. Although it was full of people inside. The staff who were the employees. The arrogant ones talk to you. Stay away from them

We had the 7 course menu, and our evening couldn't have been better. The staff was very friendly, the wine pairing was extremely well, food was delicious and filling, and the atmosphere was cosy. They treated us with some limoncello in front of the fireplace at the end of our night, and gifted us a well-thought gift for my birthday. We will remember this evening. It was a 5-star experience from the start to the end.

The Watermill has become a place with fond memories for us. Lisanne and Raymond's team are top-notch hosts and hostesses who have managed to elevate their young team, with Wai Lin as the ever-friendly and loyal host, to a superb professional level. They continue to achieve this with each new face, creating an atmosphere where nothing is lacking. Special requests regarding arrangements such as family dinners or dining with all your friends are masterfully executed. Much praise goes to the top chef and his kitchen staff, who serve high-quality and beautiful products. If you're one of these fantastic team members, you can be proud of yourself.

On a whim, I chose this restaurant for dinner with my wife. It's a very pleasant setting, and the staff gives you their full attention and is eager to please. And they certainly succeeded. The food is truly amazing, a festival of flavors, all in the historic atmosphere of a watermill. It has a Michelin star for a reason, so all in all, highly recommended. The only minor but nice drawback was the dated tiolet, but I'm looking at that with a builder's eye.

We had to ask three times for drinks, there was no hospitality, and the Irish coffee tasted like something from a snack bar. This was our last time here.

Mediocre and completely out of whack. €34.50 for a plate of overly thick ravioli, forgotten salt, Asian steak tartare with capers, soggy fries, etc. And I haven't even mentioned the food of my dinner companions. A bygone era in Velp.

Goed gegeten, goede wijnen, goede bediening. Echter, de prijs is veel te hoog voor het gebodene. Met name het voorgerecht (coquille met kreeft) was minimalistisch voor een maximum prijs.

Some dishes were very good, others not. On the positive side we have the burrata with gazpacho, the vitello tonnato and the deer, three fine dishes. However, the scallop with lobster salad was not fully convincing as the subte taste of the lobster was masked by the strong flavour of a cocktail sauce. The leek in the vegetarian main course was fibrous and overcooked. The wine list is fine and the service friendly, but sliightly overwhelmed at times on a busy evening.

Truly fantastic! We had dinner here with culinary friends. One of the things we share is cooking for each other when we're together...about 3 or 4 times a year...and have been for 37 years. But now that the fourth member of our family has retired, the gentlemen thought we'd treat ourselves to a nice dinner out as a surprise. It must have been special...we ended up at De Watermolen in Velp. I'd been there a few times with my wife before...but I was curious what it would be like this time. The reviews were still very good, so we booked Tafelthe. No regrets! What a delight. We opted for the culinary 4-course menu with, among other things, scallops, venison, and a cheese platter. Beautiful dishes, delicious flavors, lovely wine pairings...and a relaxed atmosphere and pleasant service. In short, everything was perfect...well, almost...next time, it'll be "standard," just a small cookie or bonbon with the coffee or tea...I say this with a smile...because then it'll really be perfect...because we didn't feel like having too many extra cookies or bonbons after the truly sublime meal...but a plain cup of coffee or tea (which was very good, by the way) is really not acceptable, we think ;-). Thanks for a lovely evening out.

eerlijk gezegd al wel een beetje op internet gekeken naar restaurants in Velp En de watermolen leek ons wel wat, middags even kijken, eigenaar was net buiten met wat bezig , kort gesprekje en gereserveerd voor de avond. Kortom Prima adres, erg nette bediening, plek zag er prima uit en heerlijk eten, complimenten zijn op de plaats Ook op zoek naar een heerlijke plek om te eten en te genieten> zeker gaan

Keuken is zeer zeer goed, klassiek met twist. Bediening is top, iedereen super gastvrij en kundig tot en met de eigenaar die persoonlijk zijn gasten welkom komt heten. Hier weten ze wat gastbeleving is. Ambiance is heerlijk en wij konden fijn buiten zitten, een oase van rust. Fijne plek om af te spreken omdat je snel op de snelweg zit maar dat totaal niet merkt. Als je een centrale plek zoekt om af te spreken zoek niet verder.

Eind april hebben wij hier ons 25-jarig huwelijksjubileum gevierd. Een gedenkwaardige middag! Raymond en Lisanne en hun team hebben ons, ondanks de grootte van de groep, enorm in de watten gelegd. Het restaurant was feestelijk versierd, de organisatie klopte als een bus, aan alles was gedacht. Het eten was buitengewoon lekker! Alleen maar positieve reacties gehad. Een juweeltje! Dank Lisanne en Raymond!!

The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel really welcome. The food was of high class and full of flavour. An evening not to forget. Definitely recommended!

Food is amazing and service is quick and thoughtful. There are some reviews talking about pricing, these are not justified. The restaurant was completely full when we were here and my girlfriend thought it was fine, I found it a little too loud for my liking but I am used to smaller restaurants with ± 20-people capacity.

Intimate place with very good taste and good service. Well-prepared menu and good attention from the chef who gave us a good presentation of the dish. I loved the final part with the coffee that we could choose the chocolates to accompany it and there was a good wine list for all price points. Well-deserved Michelin stars!

Thursday night dinner with friends 7-11.30 pm. We had an elaborate dinner. The food is well prepared, a bit "special" to my taste. Included a choice of amuses-bouche. The beef carpaccio was excellent, the meat from local animals melting on your tongue, and a good quantity at that. So were the snails (escargots) at 19,5€ for half a dozen. The main dish, game, was a bit disappointing, both in tenderness and quantity , especially in view of its price. We had a taste of oisters in between dishes, sharing half a dozen together, which were of an excellent quality, firm and fresh, rather overpriced, though. Ending with a good choice of interesting cheeses. Interesting wine list, but again, $$$. Typical for the development of the dutch up-market restaurants: trying to find a way in more and more complicated dishes at too high prices. Prefer to have dinner in France or Gremany. Not to forget: the young staff was friendly and patient with us, as we were overstaying the closing hour. We had a nice evening, but at 700€ for 3, not a favourable price/performance ratio.

What a wonderful evening we had. The food was delicious, but the most special thing was how much attention was paid to the physical health of one of us. This made this evening feasible for our group and that is priceless. If you want a high-quality restaurant with a casual atmosphere, this is highly recommended.

Dishes are beautifully balanced and well prepared, the chef walks through the restaurant himself and talks to the guests, but all the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. A green oasis! Hidden in the greenery is a beautiful garden where you can eat. Extremely attentive and nice staff. The food is great and the wine list has nice wines. We would love to come back here.

Yesterday we once again had the pleasure of dining at the Watermolen. The evening started perfectly with the beautiful ambiance that radiates a soothing and luxurious atmosphere. We were welcomed by the more than hospitable staff, who immediately made us feel at home. The dinner itself was a true culinary experience. Each dish was a taste sensation in itself, perfectly matched. From the starter to the main course, every moment was a delight. We didn't get around to a desert because we got more than enough per course. The chef's attention to detail and passion were clearly palpable. All in all, it was another unforgettable evening at the Watermolen, a place that surprises and delights every time. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Heerlijk gegeten hier, we kozen het 5 gangen menu. Mooie gerechten met fijne smaken. Klassieke gastvrije bediening, precies goed. We doen t af en toe, een restaurant met BIB vermelding. Qua inrichting is het klassiek, je ziet elementen van de oude molen. Kan een verfrissing gebruiken qua aankleding, daarentegen is het eten en team is echt top. En dat is FIJN!

This is absolutely a pearl of a restaurant in the eastern part of The Netherlands. The food is perfect; incredibly high quality, but also decent portions. The service was attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant itself is charming: old fashioned in style, but cosy and well appointed.

Heerlijke lunch: 3 gangen BiB menu aangevuld met kaas afgesloten met dessert, vergezeld door wijn arrangement. Zeer vriendelijke en vakkundige bediening in mooie ontspannen ambiance. Uiteindelijk hadden we maar 2 vragen: Waarom waren we hier niet eerder? Wanneer gaan we weer?

The atmosphere was magical, the misty view of the cascading mill upon arrival, the entrance over the bridge, luxurious service where the hosts always did their best to make you feel special. But in terms of taste sensations I am not completely satisfied. We all ordered a different three-course menu to taste as many flavors as possible and although it all looked fantastic, I did not like the palette of flavors that we received. The gorgonzola in the asparagus soup and the risotto, which was too heavy with cheese for me, were not tasty. By the way, the host indicated that it was possible to recreate the soup without the blue cheese... which again speaks for service. I thought the 3 amuse-bouches were all really tasty and of a high standard... both in terms of presentation and taste explosion... compliments. Too bad this high line didn't continue...

Een geweldige avond gehad. Niet alleen de gerechten van het 7 (werden er 8) menu met de perfect aansluitende zeer verrassende wijnen was top maar zeer zeker ook de gastvrijheid, bediening, goed geplande pauzes enz. Een werkelijk culinair feestje!!!!!!!!!!!! .

Das Restaurant ist eine absolute Empfehlung regional als auch überregional. In Schlagdistanz zum Oberzentrum Arnhem, liegt die alte Wassermühle im kleinen Ort Velp. Die Jahrelangen Auszeichnungen im Guide Michelin merkt man in der Speisenqualität, handwerklichkeit, Geschmack und Service. Wir hatten das 4-Gänge Menü plus 3 Amuse-Bouche. Kreativität und Kulinarik waren exzellent. Das ganze für gute 50 Euro p. P. Nicht umsonst mit dem Bib-Gourmand ausgezeichnet. Die marinierten Oliven und Mandeln vorab waren übrigens die besten die ich jemals essen dufte. Kann man die bei euch bestellen? Wer in der Nähe ist, vorher einen Tisch reservieren und die kulinarische Reise mitgehen. Karte ist auf Niederländisch. Das Personal spricht aber auch hervorragendes Englisch. Wir kommen wieder!

I had the caviar (a must try) and the salmon-prawn as a shared starter - both exceptional!!! For my main, I had the fish of the day, a testament to the kitchen's commitment to freshness and expertise. The chef's talent shines in every dish. My friend had the tournedos, and was just as delighted as I was! The service is beyond reproach. The staff are incredibly attentive and fulfill every request with genuine kindness. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also superb. Thanks to the amazing staff but mostly to the chef who gave us pure joy with every bite. As to the bill, it was very reasonable. Quality is outstanding!

Na een tip van Boutiquehotel Beekhuizen aten wij hier ter gelegenheid van mijn mans 65e verjaardag. Heel vriendelijke en professionele medewerkers, grote keuze uit heerlijke gerechten, goede huiswijn, veel persoonlijke aandacht en als kers op de taart een felicitatie en bakje ‘eigen’ olijven als cadeautje mee. In een bijzondere ambiance. Dank voor de mooie avond! Tip: nog een bonbon of iets bij de afsluitende koffie/thee.

Was für ein magischer Ort, was für eine fantastische Küche! Das Restaurant ist seit Jahrzehnten familiär geführt, und die Liebe und das Herzblut sind sofort spürbar. Die Küche kocht eindeutig auf Sterne-Niveau - und das zu einem absolut fairen Preis. Wir haben hier einen wunderschönen Abend verbracht und werden definitiv wiederkommen.
