Had a stomach ache for a week because of it

This restaurant has been around for 888 years, I don't know if it's under the same ownership, but I've wanted to go there for ages. If you've been open that long, you're doing something right, right? The service is friendly, cheerful, and personable. He also asked for feedback but unfortunately didn't really listen to our suggestions. The food was delicious, with good flavors and cooking, and good portioning. The duck was a bit cold, and the presentation of the dishes could be a bit more modern. The decor, too, with the carpet and wicker chairs, taped together in places, did its job. The facade and entrance are also a shame; you walk right past them at first because the name, which they've carefully built up, is barely visible. An old Chinese proverb says, "If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten..." So, modernization and continued investment are important. Other than that, we'll definitely be back.

I am eating right now there. The positives- good looking place and the discussions in Cantonese are like comfort food. The food is outstanding. What really diminishes its standing is the lack of service for a higher end Chinese restaurant. No one came to ever ask how it was. I had to get up and ask for another glass of wine and iced water. Probably won’t see another staff until they want me to pay. As an owner of a family restaurant that’s been in business continually for over 55 years, this held promise but was disappointed.

I've been a loyal customer for years, but the way I was treated today is beyond words. Upon arrival, I had to wait almost fifteen minutes next to the kitchen for a table, even though I had a reservation. When I finally got seated, after literally waiting 25 minutes, STILL no one came to take my order. My whole evening was ruined, thank you! I left and went to eat elsewhere, where I was welcomed and served with dignity. I'll never come back here. Rude waitress who even said, "Sorry, buddy." I'm not your buddy! I'm a paying (former) customer!

The warm and friendly staff will make you feel at ease. The food is delicious and presented wonderfully. It's the perfect place to celebrate special occasions. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance.

Located in the heart of Amsterdam on a small pedestrian street, this Asian restaurant is a wonderful find. The service is top-notch and the dishes are generous and well-prepared. Especially the four-course menu! If you have a choice, the upstairs dining room is more intimate and perfect for a quiet evening.

The food was delicious. The Thai salad was good, the spring rolls a little less so. The main course was excellent.

My all time favorite Asian restaurant, everytime when visiting the Netherlands and Amsterdan a visit to this beautiful establishment is part of the itinerary. Love the fact that the menu is still the same as 10+ years ago. Great food never gets boring!

My all-time favorite. Dining in Dynasty's garden is a celebration of enjoyment and relaxation. The menu hasn't changed for 35 years, and that's no wonder; the dishes are practically perfect. Never change a winning menu. One point of concern is the patio furniture, which is starting to get a bit worn. The chairs can be removed after this season. See you soon!

We had a fantastic evening at Dynasty Restaurant in Amsterdam — delicious food, beautiful ambiance, and truly outstanding service. A special thank you to the lovely lady who took such wonderful care of us throughout the night. Her kindness, attentiveness, and warm energy made the experience even more memorable. She made us feel genuinely welcomed and at home. Highly recommend this place not just for the amazing Asian cuisine, but also for the hospitality that makes all the difference.

We've been coming to Dynasty for the last 20 years and keep returning for more. The food is always spectacular, and every visit feels like a special occasion. For starters, we had the Offering of the Emperor, Tails of the Lobster, Golden Triangles, and some extra Spring Rolls, always with their yellow curry sauce. For the mains, we enjoyed the Bangkok Prawns, Steamed Turbot, and the Steak of Siam. Eating at Dynasty is always a special treat thanks to the delicious food, great service, and beautiful setting. We love sitting in the garden on a nice summer evening. It's a peaceful and charming spot in the center of Amsterdam.

I have been to Dynasty a few times now - and each time never disappoints. It is so full of flavour. Most definitely the duck pancakes are my favourite thing to order!! Looking forward to my next visit! ❤️

Na 20 jaar weer hier gegeten, het was supergezellig en erg lekker gegeten weer , personeel was ook heel gezellig en aardig. Jammer dat de tuin nog dicht was toen we waren , maar een slecht punt is dat de stoelen nog steeds dezelfde meubelen zijn en met tape aan elkaar vast geplakt zijn, toch wel slordig voor z’n een tent !

Food is amazing and service is great but the restaurant feels a bit stuffy in terms of air flow.

Traditioneel Chinees eten in combinatie met ongekende gastvrijheid, dat is zeker weten waar dynasty voor staat. Men is ongelofelijk gast vrij, vriendelijk en dienstbaar. We schrokken wel hoe sommige andere gasten omgingen met het personeel. Alle voorgerechten zijn heerlijk! Bovenal de flensjes en de kreeften loempia’s zijn onze favorieten. De gefrituurde mie, alsook “the secret of the ox” zijn overheerlijk! Porties zijn groot. Erg goede prijs kwaliteit! Interieur is wat oudbollig. Nieuw tapijt en stoelen zou met de tijd leuk zijn, maar het doe gelukkig niks af aan de kwaliteit van het eten.

Great place with terrace when the weather is nice, many dishes on the menu, but also nice "set menus" with surprising and delicious dishes. Nice ambiance, friendly staff. We sometimes had to wait a bit long between courses, so that resulted in higher drink sales... ;-)

I can say that I had the best Chinese food I have ever eaten here.

De Belg en de Belgin zijn karakteriële antipoden, zij zweert bij afwisseling, hij is een stille minnaar van het status quo. Dat levert bij momenten restaurantkeuzestress die steevast wordt bezworen dankzij het bestaan van een aantal vaste waarden die bij wijze van compromis als joker worden uitgespeeld. Dynasty, een instituut in de Amsterdamse aziatische resto-scene en een toevalstreffer bij ons eerste bezoek aan de stad, nu alweer meer dan een kwarteeuw geleden, is een van die verzoenadressen. In al die jaren is het interieur geen spat veranderd en dat geldt evenzeer voor de menukaart waarop enkel de prijzen mettertijd worden aangepast (van Gulden naar Euro naar meer Euro, maar nog steeds met een aangename prijs/spijs ratio) Een bezoek aan Dynasty is daarom te vergelijken met een culinaire Groundhog Day-ervaring, een - in ons geval - geen dagelijks maar zowat vijfjaarlijks feest van herkenning met respect voor de routine. De succulente ganzelever, de kokossoep, de gemberkreeft, de secret of the ox, de uitgelezen wijnkaart…geen verrassingen, en laat dat voor één keer een pluspunt zijn. Het lijkt alsof het restaurant in de tijd is bevroren en enkel de Belg en Belgin zelf de veranderde factor zijn, meteen stof voor nostalgische tafelgesprekken en een blik in de retro-viseur. Vallen er dan geen minpuntjes te vermelden? Toch wel, het depri-dessert, een inderhaast bij elkaar gesneden hoopje fruit met een schamel bolletje ijs, … maar ach, ook dat hoort bij ervaring. We nemen dus een schepje vanille en een druif of twee en denken bij onszelf: tot de volgende keer, in 2030 of zo.

I am just getting introduced to Asian cuisine and would not usually call myself a big fan, but Dynasty completely changed that. Located on a busy street, the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is calm and relaxed,such a nice escape from the city buzz. We ordered the Fine Eastern Menu for two, and let me tell you, it was SOOO much food! Every dish was flavorful and beautifully prepared (note I do not like coconut or curry, I was able to have the dishes without). As an extra, we also got the spring rolls with lobster, which were absolutely delicious. I must say the service here is exceptional. It is not too much, but my glass was never empty, and I never had an empty or dirty plate on the table. A fantastic experience overall, and I will definitely be back!

Good old Dynasty. Hidden gem in Amsterdam, authentic Chinese with the right preparation, staff and setting. Nice and discreet, good service and speed of operation. There aren't many like this anymore! Ps: thousand flower duck is DELICIOUS, but we thought it was a lot for 2. We couldn't finish our main course, so we had to take it with us. I would easily order this with 3 or even 4 people

This is where you go if you are looking for a fantastic wine list with a passionate sommelier. We experienced great wines here at prices you won't find anywhere else. How is that possible? No idea. I think this is one of those gems where people go for passion, and not just for making money.

The worst experience in Amsterdam!!!! 1 of 3 people in our group did not want to order a main dish as they werent particulary hungry and got told we cannot serve you if you do not order a main dish.Although they did order dishes in value more than a main dish would have been and even though the two other people wanted to order main dishes. We got told why did you come into the restaurant if you are not hungry and to leave if we want to. The waiter was very rude and talked about us to his coleague in front of us.We left of course. Absolutely not worth the money or the time. Avoid at all cost!!!!

All-time favorite!! Everything here is really fantastic. Cozy atmosphere, beautiful garden, very friendly and helpful personnel. The signature is the Secret of the Ox, really delicious. Furthermore, all starters are delicious, but the lobster spring rolls are highly recommended! The Peking duck is also delicious, the crispy fish and the curries.

On September 3, we had dinner with 2 people in Chinese restaurant Dynasty. Our experience was excellent, delicious food, friendly staff and the various courses served at our desired time. We will definitely go there again! Marco Ingrid

Zoveel over gehoord hoe lekker het is om bij dynasty te eten. Tegendeel is waar. Niet bijzonder t.o.v. reguliere Aziatische keukens. Eten is over het algemeen te zout. Prijs niet in verhouding met kwaliteit. Tafels buiten veel te klein. Geen ruimte om en wijn en water en eten tegelijk op tafel te hebben. Je betaald hoofdzakelijk voor locatie en naam. The offering was een gerenommeerd gerecht. Maar was nu meer een borrel plank dat te lang heeft gelegen. Positief is de hospitality van de medewerkers.

Delicious food, Beautiful place to be.

NEVER GO. We arrived with a group of 9 at 7:00 PM and ordered our starters and main courses at 7:20/7:30 PM. As far as the starters are concerned, things went fairly smoothly, but the main courses had still not been served at 9.15 pm! We asked the staff several times about the state of affairs and asked if we could speak to the manager, but he never showed up. Final score - 9.30 pm paid for starters and drinks and left. Very disappointing!

Food was not good. Spareribs weren’t cooked long enough so impossible to get off the bone and very chewy. Oysters had no black beans on them. The ladies serving us were sweet but when I told the manager that I the food was different from last time (as I had been there a few times before) he responded; I have never seen you before. Absolutely disgusting. No manners, and no taste. If you want good Chinese food, go to the Zeedijk. This is a waste of money.

Food is highly priced. Quality reasonable but there are better. The atmosphere is always great and the service excellent.

It's just fine, but there are so many buts... upon entering we had to sit upstairs, everything was still pretty empty and there was no option downstairs. We're actually not that ugly :). The atmosphere was not nice upstairs. Later a group of 10 came in who had not made a reservation, they were allowed to wait for an available table. No tap water, not even in a refillable bottle, very old-fashioned and environmentally unfriendly. There are no menus for non-meat eaters, nothing can be adjusted to the existing menus or a dish can be replaced. "Can't you give all the meat to your girlfriend was the golden tip?" Hello!! It's 2024 and you have a restaurant in Amsterdam. So I eat a la cart and pay almost twice as much as a meat eater. If you're vegan, stay away completely. The service was adamant and blamed everything on the kitchen. Missed opportunity, the quality is good but it didn't really appeal to me anymore. Too bad, a very hefty bill and not a good feeling, you will never see me again. Old fashioned and not vegetarian friendly.

Had a delicious meal here for my friend's birthday, great atmosphere, quiet restaurant, good service, high quality meat, the lady who worked in the restaurant offered to take pictures of me and my friend which was very sweet. Will definitely come back here!

We booked a round table for 6 people downstairs weeks in advance for our wedding day, we have been coming there for 25 years, but 2 days in advance we receive a very impersonal email with the text. Dear guest, the entire ground floor has been rented with live music, you can sit upstairs or you can cancel! . Well, we said! Should we do it with that!! We sent an email to the restaurant that we did not think this was appropriate and that we had booked quite some time ago and were therefore going to cancel. After 1.5 weeks we received a response to our email saying, we do not guarantee a table! And once again we had to make do with that. Let me think that there is clearly a double standard in this restaurant, the first is the one with the most money and he gets what he wants and then number 2 is the rest that is left, I call this deeply sad.

I asked travelers about good restaurants in Amsterdam and they replied Chinese food. They were right. Dynasty has delicious Dim Sum, Chicken with sweet basil, Pad Thai and fried rice.

A hidden gem. We had a delicious meal here! Be surprised and choose a menu! Every course was so exquisite from start to finish! The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. The terrace was very nice to dine with a beautiful view (tip: come early, it is quite busy here in the evening!) We will definitely come back!

Delicious food! Irene helped us a lot! We were able to laugh and have a nice chat with the employees. The coconut chicken soup was my favorite.

Wij hadden, voor een speciale gelegenheid, om een gezellige tafel gevraagd, de reservering was overigens 6 weken van te voren al gemaakt. Bij binnenkomst werd ons medegedeeld dat wij niet beneden konden zitten maar naar boven moesten, waar niemand zat. Toen wij de opmerking maakten dat wij speciaal om een gezellige tafel hadden gevraagd werd ons medegedeeld dat als het ons niet aanstond dat we dan maar weg moesten gaan. Echt onbegrijpelijk. Wat een misplaatste arrogantie. De tent zelfs is overigens vergaande glorie en de het personeel gaat Frans tegen elkaar praten als ze onderling willen communiceren, alsof we dat niet verstaan…. We zijn dus weggegaan. Avond verpest, JO, de bedrijfsleider belde daarna waarom we weg zijn gegaan, heb hem vertelt dat zijn personeel gewoon onbehoorlijk en asociaal is. Nee nooit meer Dynasty voor ons…

Complaint Dear readers, I would like to share my unpleasant experience that happened on April 3, 2024 in the Dynasty restaurant. After we received the starters, the three of us chose the main menu and explicitly stated that we did not want pork in any of the dishes because one of us is very allergic to it. We have emphasized it several times. After a short wait, our dishes arrived and were neatly served in front of us. After the person with the allergy took the first bite, he immediately noticed that his throat closed. After looking closely at the rice dish, we saw that it contained fine pieces of meat, so we asked what kind of meat it was. The answer was pork, this dish always comes with pork. To which we again indicated yes, but we still indicated that we did not want pork. Now the allergy sufferer had to literally run for his life to get his medication from the car, finger down his throat to remove pork from his body before ending up in the hospital for another 2 weeks. After the two of us sprinted to the car where he took the medicine, we walked quietly back to the Dynasty restaurant. Now he had to wait an hour to see if the medicines worked. If that wasn't the case, we still had to go to the hospital with a blood test. When we arrived back at Dynastie, the staff was waiting for us with the necessary apologies, after which the allergic person, who himself owns a restaurant, indicated that mistakes can be made where people work. The manager came up with a solution that is actually too ridiculous for words. He offered to take the rice dish off the bill, which is only normal, and the coffee and tea with the dessert are on the house. We then indicated that the allergic person could no longer eat anything. We thought it would be a better solution to pay 2/3 of the bill since there were only 2 of us who ate. The manager agreed to this. Once we received the original bill of €302 with the adjusted bill of €267, with the explanation that we had eaten the starters as they were good. So we only removed the rice dish and the cheapest meat dish that came with it (€35 in total), we in turn said that we found this scandalous and that it was not about the money but about the principle. The manager wanted to argue with us, but we were upset by this ridiculous “solution” and decided to pay the full bill and just leave a tip.

Geweldig, wij komen hier al vele jaren, meerdere keren per jaar. Altijd top service, vriendelijk en erg smaakvolle gerechten. Zou niets negatiefs kunnen vertellen.

Bij binnenkomst waan je je in de jaren 80 door het interieur. De stoelen zitten alles behalve comfortabel. Het eten is veel te duur voor wat je krijgt. Het is een overpriced Thai. Het duurde allemaal ontzettend lang voordat het eten kwam. En ondertussen werden er flessen wijn opengetrokken en bij geschonken worden zonder dat men vroeg of we nog meer wijn wilden. Je hebt dit dus niet door. De bediening was wel vriendelijk. Verder had ik buikpijn van het eten toen ik naar huis ging. Dus waarschijnlijk maakt men gebruik van smaakversterkers.

Beautiful restaurant delicious food!

It's been a while since I've been (because I will not go back), but there was a period of a few years between my last visit and the one before that - and my biggest problem has not changed. The food is fantastic, no complaints there (except that the menu never seems to change). The restaurant looks nice. But it's the service that is not even close to what it should be for a restaurant charging those kind of prices. 1. During multiple visits the food did not arrive at the same time. In one case someone's meal came when another person had already finished theirs. Some restaurants do this, this one doesn't. And yet they regularly do. 2. I once orded a duck salad starter, I was given beef salad. I told the lady who brought it over. She asked me if I was sure. Yes, I was sure. Do I still not want it? No, I still want the thing I ordered instead of the thing I didn't order. Was I sure, because the beef salad was also very nice? I was shocked that she had the nerve to now try to sell me the food I hadn't ordered. 3. Final visit, last chance: although the restaurant was almost empty (we came before peak times) we were seated somewhere on the side near the kitchen. The kitchen staff was angrily yelling at each other from the moment we sat down until we left (and I'm sure long after that). If that wasn't noisy enough, they also seated a couple with three loud and restless children right next to us when they came in. And yes, the restaurant was still basically empty. And I'd even requested a quiet spot for my partner and I to spend our first anniversary. So never again, I have found a new spot with food of the same quality but for a lower price. Also with a menu that never seems to change, but at least the choice is huge.

Good and old Dynasty! Looking back 40 yrs with dishes that are still fashionable and attractive, good ingrediënts and sharp cooking. The same interior with dark blue and shiny paintings and umbrella’s at the ceiling. Loving it 🧡🌶️🔥☀️ I would rank it a 4.3 star if possible. To my personal taste it could enter 5 stars with some more veggie dishes and less richness in taste, calories and meats. Have been there soo much with great memories, but my personal taste changed. I love to still feel light after dinner. See you soon there of course.

Spontaneously made a reservation on Sunday to eat with 2 people and was able to get a table quite late in the evening. Called once in between to ask if it was possible earlier or if there were any cancellations. We were able to arrive 1.5 hours earlier and then take a seat upstairs. Upon arrival we had a rather unfriendly discussion because according to an employee we had 2 reservations, we thought this was unfair because we were clear on the phone. I didn't say much about that because I didn't want to spoil the atmosphere for us. When I arrived upstairs, I was a bit surprised that only one of the many tables was occupied while the restaurant was apparently full. I don't know if the discussion had anything to do with that, but we felt we were not treated well and the food was unfortunately very disappointing, even though we have eaten here before. When paying, I pointed out in a friendly manner that we did not have a nice evening/dinner, but unfortunately the response was also laconic. We think that is very unfortunate.

Generous portions that are creatively seasoned. If you are into Chinese food and don’t mind MSG then it’s a good option to try. Staff is nice and friendly (and funny 😄) Good location with authentic interior design.

Everything was delicious, the service was amazing. The only thing was that there was MSG in the food. That created a heavy reaction for me for some reason. Combined with that it was an unique experience !

Na jaren hier weer gegeten met een ander stel. We hebben zoals vanouds weer heerlijk genoten van de Three meats in Harmony, Secret of the Ox, Bangkok Prawns en Crispy Fish. Het enige wat ik niet snap, is waarom ze het interieur niet aanpassen. Het is gedateerd en de stoelen hij elkaar houden met wat tape kan anno 2023 echt niet meer! Het zou fijn zijn als ze daar iets meer oog voor zouden hebben. Een minpunt vond ik echter wel dat we op een gegeven moment geen tijd meer hadden voor een dessert, omdat we de tafel moesten vrijgeven. En toen we om ons heenkeken, waren er nog zeker 9 tafels die leeg waren rond 20:00 uur. En toen ik naar boven liep om nog even langs het toilet te gaan, was de gehele bovenverdieping leeg! De gastvrijheid vond ik in eerste instantie geweldig, maar daarvoor moet ik ze toch wat strafpunten geven.

Foi uma experiência gastronômica muito legal el Amsterdã. Pratos deliciosos e excelente atendimento. Vale a pena uma refeição no local.

Groot minpunt: het personeel roddelt in het Cantonees over de klanten. Het eten is lekker. De service kan beter. 3 weken van te voren een tafel geboekt maar we werden alsnog in een vergeten hoek neergezet. We hadden nog nagevraagd of we niet bij een andere tafel konden zitten, want er was maar 1 andere tafel bezet. Helaas kon dat niet.

Op uitnodiging gegeten. Erg goed! Alleen lopend of taxi of af laten zetten want natuurlijk is parkeren er onmogelijk of stervens duur op een lange loopafstand.

Dynasty aan de Reguliersdwarsstraat is een absolute aanrader! Inmiddels meerdere keren geweest en elke keer was het een fantastische ervaring. Het eten is heerlijk, vooral de "Secret of the Ox" (Ossenhaas) en de groene curry met garnalen. De service is vriendelijk en attent. Zorg ervoor dat je van tevoren reserveert, want het restaurant is vaak vol. Een geweldige culinaire ervaring in Amsterdam!

Gisteren ben ik wezen eten bij Dynasty. Ik en mijn vriend hadden voor het 5 gangen menu gekozen. De eerste gang ganzenlever vond ik niks maar de saus en de taugé en bosui de combinatie was echt heel lekker. Ik heb nog nooit zo een lekkere ossenhaas en de soep gegeten!! Vriendelijk personeel en goede service. We komen zeker weer terug:)

Best Asian restaurant in Amsterdam and My favourite in the Reguliersdwarsstraat. The food is always excellent, wines are great, the staff and owners are super friendly and caring and the service always impeccable for many many years. And plus when the weather is warmer they have a lovely garden terrace on the back. Keep up the good work.

dynasty is al jaren ons favoriete restaurant we komen er al meer dan 30 jaar niets is er veranderd zelfs het personeel niet eigenaar wing doet het heel goed de vader van wing in de keuken is nog steeds top hopelijk blijft het nog heel lang doorgaan zo van deze restaurants zijn er niet veel meer altijd top bert en karin

Dynasty heeft een update nodig. Veel achterstallig onderhoud en veel stof. Eten was niet geweldig. Pangsit en loempia te lang gebakken. Duck pancake was voortgerold en had 1 blok vlees per rol. De duck had dunner gesneden moeten worden. Daarnaast smaakte alle gerechten hetzelfde (menage a trois, basil chicken). De crispy fish was niet crispy. De loempia’s, garnalen koekjes en pangsit smaakte niet alsof ze zelf gemaakt waren, wat ik wel verwachtte. 20 jaar geleden was dit een geweldig Chinees restaurant (zonder Thaise gerechten). Ik vind het nu niet meer de moeite waard.

4sterren omdat het eten bijzonder lekker was. Geen vijfde ster omdat ik nog nooit zo'n vieze toilet vloer heb gezien..gewoon omdat die niet word schoongemaakt ...echt smerig. Jammer want daar knap je wel op af.

De beste Chinees van het westelijk halfrond! Niet alleen het eten maar ook de bediening is klasse! Van de eerste hap van de Dim Sum tot aan de laatste hap van de krokante bami is het smullen. Eten waar een mens blij van wordt van binnen!! Alles klopt! Tot snel!!
