If you go for the food, this is highly recommended. I've been there several times and the taste of the food remains the same. The balance is good, but the service isn't always great, depending on who you get.

Three weeks ago, I ordered food. I'd already read the review, but I decided to give it a try. So I could have dinner with 16 people for Christmas. It was a good thing I had anti-diarrheal medication. And now that I've read about the atmosphere of this junkyard, like the owner (shouting/big mouth) and the grumpy staff, I had a GREAT Christmas meal at a different restaurant. The atmosphere was great, no stress, and the staff was excellent.

We were guests with a group and sat at a teppanyaki table. The chef was skilled and good. And while you might expect that, it's still nice that it was. Especially since we had several people with allergies in our group. Parking was a challenge.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I've never been treated so rudely by people who should be acting professionally. It's absurd how you get yelled at and argued about for the most normal things. Do yourself a favor and only order takeout, because dealing with these people is just bad for your heart. I don't understand why these people opened a restaurant if they're so inhumane and can't handle customers. It's a shame this terrible restaurant is located in such a beautiful location.

Authentic and delicious chinese restaurant.

This guy working on the counter today is very direspectful towards the delivery drivers and doesnt even know how to talk to people properly, I just witnessed this guy talk to one of the delivery driver, who come in from outside to pick up in a very rude manner. This person should not be working in a restaurant. I have seen people treat own workers like this on tv but i just saw it today here. Never coming back here again.

This seems like authentic Chinese cuisine to me. Very unique flavors. We had dim sum. Lots of choices, and all different. There were several Chinese families eating, which to me is an indication that it's good Chinese food.

I'm a true dim sum lover, but I wonder how they steam it and what ingredients they use. I'm currently in the hospital for the second day with severe food poisoning. I already alerted the staff to the off-flavors, but they completely ignored me. I'm honestly considering filing a police report... scandalous. Sincerely,

I've been coming here for years and the food is good. Yesterday I had teppanyaki. Like many years ago. I heard and saw the tyranny of the new owner. But yesterday, for the first time, he took a stand against me. The food immediately tasted worse. You pay a lot of money, but the hospitality and politeness are nowhere to be found. Within 45 minutes, we were shoved five courses down our throats. I hadn't even finished one dish before I got the next. And when I asked if he could slow down, he got angry because he wanted to serve us the last courses as quickly as possible with another table. He also asks how I like my meat. I asked for rare, but I got it medium. There's also a grumpy employee who serves and yells at his staff like they're slaves. For me, the fun was gone. I'm going to look for another good restaurant. It's a real shame, because this was such a good place with good service.

The food tastes good, but the portions are very small compared to other dim sum restaurants. The staff is not hospitable.

Went there on Sunday, November 2nd, and it was considerably busier than a year ago. Simple reason: the dim sum food is significantly better!

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 35 years. This is my second review; the first was five years ago because the food was inedible, so I gave it two stars. But I'm glad you're making good and tasty food again. I hope it stays that way.

I don't write reviews often anymore, but I have to say this: I just placed a phone order, including a combo dish where I asked for vegetarian noodles, vegetarian tjap tjoy, and vegetarian foe yong hai. They then put chicken satay on top. So I called them back to tell them that wasn't correct, because it was supposed to be vegetarian. I had guests over, so they politely asked if they could bring it. Unfortunately, they couldn't, so I drove back and forth myself. They were incredibly rude on the phone. Once I arrived at the restaurant, they didn't even say hello. They took my order, checked it, and said it was correct. I explained that it was supposed to be vegetarian, and that there was chicken satay in the same container. They were huffing and puffing and arguing among themselves about whose fault it was. I asked for a refund because I didn't like the service and I want to order somewhere else. Then the higher-up arrived, started yelling and wouldn't let me finish. I was stunned by how unsocially I was treated as a customer. I couldn't get a refund; they ended up remaking everything. And now I'm driving home. I'm NEVER coming back here again! What rude staff and boss! There's no smile or friendliness to be seen. Just sighing and being bossy towards each other and their customers.

Very tasty, lots of choices, not too expensive, and not too greasy. The food was delicious. In my opinion, the best dim sum in all of Utrecht. Tai Soen is a lot worse than Juliana.

We had delicious dim sum! Everything was fresh and hot. 😳 Definitely recommend it for next time ;p

We were here with a large group (10 people) to enjoy dim sum. Atmosphere at the restaurant is nice and relaxing. And dim sum was also tasty, but nothing special to come back for. Only the waiting times between dishes were very disappointing, with such a large restaurant you would expect them to be well equipped for large groups, but that is not the case.

This is the third time in a row I've had spoiled food here. This used to be a great takeout restaurant (under new ownership), but in recent years it's been terribly bad. I wanted to give it another chance, hoping it would have changed, but I guess third time's the charm... After that, I heard from several people that they got sick from this, so I'll obviously never go back.

We regularly come here for dum sum because parking is free and it's one of the few places where you can get dim sum. Keep in mind that it's quite pricey, but otherwise, the taste is good.

Never been treated like this before. The owner yelled at us for ordering extra food during busy hours. He said we can only order in one go, but if you are with a big group and people are still hungry, isn’t it normal to order more food if you feel like it. To be honest, the food isn’t that special. I had better dim sum in The Hague, Rotterdam and even in Amsterdam. We won’t be coming back ever again!

We used to enjoy coming here with our family, but this time was disappointing. After placing our first order, my mom added two more dishes that never arrived, even after we asked twice. Instead of solving the problem, the owner came over, raised his voice at her, and rudely said we kept ordering while his restaurant was busy, though it was clearly less crowded than usual. Sadly, we don’t plan on returning.

Terrible experience we had during lunch/dim sum. The food is ok, not exceptional. We usually go here because it's convenient by car (free parking in Utrecht). But service is horrible. First of all, you don't know what kind of language we can speak here to the staff. But the worst was the owner. We were with a big group, and the owner was incredibly rude to us when we asked a few times that we were still missing some dishes. He raised his voice shouting that he had more tables to serve, though the restaurant wasn't even full. I've never experienced this kind of rude behavior before. We were all so shocked! We've heard from others they've had similar experiences with the owner and staff. Such a shame, but we won't be returning here.

Incredibly expensive. 27 euros for 1 portion of noodles, 1 portion of vegetables (tjap tjoi), 6 limp small spring rolls, and 2 slices of spring rolls to takeaway. That's the equivalent of 60 guilders (!!!!!!?!!??) for this, which is simply way, way too expensive (2025). It's probably just a rip-off, but incredibly expensive. I'm going to boycott from now on, unfortunately. This whole package is worth a maximum of 14 euros. The 6 limp spring rolls are absolutely not worth it.

Had a fabulous dinner here. Service was perfect. Explanation Food Menu everything perfect. We ordered the shrimp steamed dumplings the chicken steamed dumplings fried wonton shrimp fried triangle one chinese fried rice one mix meat platter which had delicious roasted duck, fried pork belly, and more pork pieces, we had rice noodle pancake with pork and shrimp, hot and sour soup and a wonton soup. All the dishes were absolutely perfect. Jack was our waiter. Nice guy speaks English and Dutch.

Horrible place with horrible staff

Although we've eaten here many times before because of the good food, there's room for improvement in the service. We found the owner/manager and several staff members unfriendly and arrogant. Furthermore, communication problems sometimes arise because not all staff speak Dutch well, resulting in orders sometimes being incorrectly placed. If the service is addressed, this could become a top-notch restaurant.

The service was terrible, and the food wasn't what I expected. You couldn't go wrong with drinks, right? Well, my prosecco was flat, and there were no cutlery or plates in sight. They did, however, cater to a large group of Chinese people. I thought I'd bring my family for dinner next time, but they can forget about that.

So incredibly rude, experienced it twice already! During dinner we asked for chili and soy sauce 3 times and when we asked politely the 3rd time, we got a big mouth from a female employee if we couldn't have said that before she brought the food. We already did this on attempts 1 and 2. She brought it and kept shouting rude things about it to us. On Whit Monday we didn't know if they were open, so we called them. A male employee answered the phone irritated and said in Chinese: 'What do you think?! Do you even know what day it is?! Are you going to make a reservation, then do it?!' We said that we absolutely do not want to make a reservation and eat in this way anymore. You can't eat here in peace and quiet, because they get irritated and rude very quickly. No thank you or smile can come off whether you are Asian or Dutch. We like to drive to Nijmegen just to not be helped and have to eat here. So not customer friendly!

Super delicious food, lovely sitting on the terrace in the park. And while dogs are normally not allowed, an exception was made. Best dim sum in town!

Bad reception upon arrival, food was lukewarm and so was the rice. Service very bad, leave it to your own devices. It is the first restaurant where I have to pay for the rice. We ordered 5 main courses for 4 people and that normally includes rice. There is an unsociable atmosphere in this restaurant. Outside on the parking lot are full of cars and we had to find a spot. Once inside, the restaurant was almost empty. We wonder where all those cars come from. It is a private parking lot after all. All in all a very bad restaurant to dine. I hope the manager realizes this too?

First of all, they charge for rice! Like, which Chinese restaurant charges for rice in the Netherlands.. Besides that, really nothing special about this place. The dishes taste alright, nothing bad about that. But the size of the plates are much smaller than other Chinese restaurant in Utrecht, Rotterdam, the Hague or even Amsterdam. The service is literally terrible. Slow serving, 50/50 response rate, and way too often bringing a plate less. You might think, it must be crowded at that time. Nope, there were like 5 tables with 3 waiters. If you want to go out for Dim Sum or any traditional Chinese diner, then rather go to Amsterdam or the Hague for a better experience and value!

No thank you, please NO more politeness. Oh yes, and then say that the manager said it. Well manager, here's a review that you don't do anything with but hopefully someone else will. And the food... wrinkled peas, cold meat in the nasi and if you order multiple dishes be aware that you'll get everything mixed up so there's a chance that it's already cold before you've finished your dish. With the reason... IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THIS WAY! I actually doubted whether I should write it but I really hope for improvement because I've had many great times here in the past. Too bad but it's faded glory, not angry but disappointed. I had to adjust my expectations.

I just asked if you had sushi — in English — and got an incredibly rude response. This is the Netherlands, and speaking English shouldn’t be a problem. Telling me I can “only speak Dutch” is unacceptable. I simply asked what’s available. Even if it’s too late to order now, I have the right to know for later. Your attitude was completely unprofessional.

Disappointed by the place. The parking is very small. We were waiting more than 30mins for the waiter to take our order. Staff were not speaking English.

Very disappointing. In any case, on a Saturday evening, the Chinese part of the restaurant was virtually empty - not a good sign. Staff speaks very poor Dutch, we received no explanation about the Dim Sum card. When our order was brought, we were reprimanded that we had almost only ordered fried dishes, and that we also had to order steam dishes (while we actually had 2 steam dishes). The food was all very bland and tasteless. Everything tasted about the same: like nothing. We were reminded that this was really Chinese. I've been to China, and I know that Chinese food can be very tasty, not this bland stuff. I have also had better real Chinese food than this in the Netherlands. For dessert the cheesecake, unfortunately it was served frozen stiff. After a comment about this, the cheesecake was put in the microwave and I got it back: one side was now boiling hot, the inside was still frozen. In short: unpleasant, unwelcoming and not good food.

We thought “just have a bite to eat in the neighborhood” and wanted to sit outside, because the weather is beautiful today. We were told that once we sit outside it will get cold and once the food has arrived we are not allowed to sit inside. Inside, 10% of tables were occupied. We were helped by a waitress who spoke neither Dutch nor English, so we felt reluctant to ask anything. Intestinal tracts were also visible in the shrimp. Really a shame!

Best restaurant in Utrecht. Come for the food and authentic atmosphere. Amusingly rude service makes it all the better.

We loved the food, as always! We had some dimsum and teppan tenderloin with black bean sauce, chicken fillet with fresh pineapple and sweet and sour sauce and teppan pork tenderloin with black pepper sauce. We really enjoyed our meal.

Even though it was no longer on the menu, I was still able to order an Indian rice table. More than enough and tasty, only the beef was too fatty, the breaded meat - or was it fish? - too salty and the dessert unimaginative ice cream with canned fruit.

Had a lovely Teppanyaki dinner here last night. Kudos to the nice, smiling chef who helped us. He gave us a nice atmosphere on a quiet weekday. And of course his food was great!

With all due respect, the food is delicious. But when you order food for over 60e and don't even get sambal and then a strange story on the phone about home delivery and then they hang up. No thank you.

We later saw the wrongly entered dishes on the receipt. After those dishes were on the table, we pointed it out to the employee and she walked away apologetically without removing the dishes. In short, due to an incorrect registration, we have to pay for it. Very unfortunate, despite the fact that the food was good, we will not be coming back.

We were served by a lady who spoke little Dutch, did not receive a clear explanation of their menu and we also had some happy marks with some of the dishes served in relation to what we ordered. What we got tasted OK, but we've had better.

Eaten Dim Sum all over the world and in Hong Kong: Here you can eat good Dim Sum!! Fresh, creamy, full of flavor: I've been several times now and I'm super happy that there is a real Dim Sum place in Utrecht again. Xiexie ni!

Really tasty food and great service.

Saturday afternoon, lunch, together with 3 friends. Well stocked restaurant, friendly service, tasty dishes. We enjoyed steamed shrimp pate, steamed chicken rolls, Peking duck, beef tenderloin in Sichuan sauce, pork in XO sauce and thick rice noodles (!!). Together with plenty of Chinese tea, it was a great afternoon!

We ate Teppanyaki, which has a nice menu for €120, we took a chef's menu for €150, which was the same except for 1 dish. Instead of the oyster we got a piece of sea bass. Everything with the same flavors, we are really disappointed by this. Not a single dish is explained, we come from the catering industry so we have product knowledge, but eating out for €350 with 2 people without a wow effect is a real shame.

A Chinese restaurant, so not a Chinese-Indian one, with a menu in Chinese and Dutch. Also typical Chinese dishes. Good and tasty food.

This restaurant has a new concept for Chinese cuisine, namely Dim Sum. Because we wanted to eat the traditional, old-fashioned recipes, I first asked the restaurant if that was possible. The answer was that this was always possible. But once there it turned out that there was no menu for those dishes. We ordered tjaptjoi with shrimps and noodles with tenderloin. The staff was, to put it mildly, not exactly friendly. The bowls with the dishes were placed on the table without a rechaud (they no longer used them). The plates were too small. We left most of the food behind because it quickly got cold. . It was offered to take the food in a container. That turned out to have been charged. All in all it was an expensive joke and very disappointing for us. We will never go here again.

Food was not tasty. What a missed opportunity, beautiful location but the food was really disappointing, a waste of money too... we got a dish that was completely different from what was indicated on the menu, after I indicated that they should adjust or remove the dish, they did not come more at our table to serve us. Literally with a wide arc around us. We will never eat here again.

What a difference from what it was like here a few years ago. As far as we are concerned, it has gone from cozy and stylish to cold and uncomfortable. We didn't feel welcome. The food was decent, but all in all, all 5 table companions agreed that we will not return here

Came here for dimsum (lunch time Tuesday). Food quality deteriorated a lot from a year ago. Very oily and not fresh. I can understand that many dimsum dishes are frozen and reheated, but some dishes were not heated/fried enough. Staff were not helpful and do not own up to their own mistakes. We specifically asked them to only serve our desserts when we have finished our meal (clearly saying that we will tell them when to bring it), they still brought it out together with the rest of the food, insisting that this is the normal way of doing thing. Will not come again.

Food is fine! I walked back inside because I had left a plastic bag with souvenirs. I asked our clerk if she had seen it. She brought in the manager to talk to me. He immediately started yelling at me and got mad at me for pushing his ministry and telling me not to leave my shit lying around. I had an argument with him because I didn't understand why he was angry with me...

Dim Sum is just as good as the big cities such as The Hague so recommended and free parking!!

If you want to order something to eat from Juliana, you must have the time! Our order took 3 hours to arrive. When you call to ask where the food is, they don't understand what the problem is and you are rejected in a very unfriendly manner. Never before have I been treated so unfriendly and will definitely not do it again.

Went there last Saturday for an anniversary celebration, we had dim sum and it was so good! The Har gow was plump filled with prawns and tasted freshly made, sui mai was also bigger, juicy and has a big pieces of prawn in the middle! This means it's likely this place makes the dim sum by hand which is rare these days to see! The cold Thai chicken feet dish was amazingly flavoured with the spices they added and the steamed black bean chicken feet was tender! The steamed rice rolls (we had the fried dough and char siu ones) were perfectly cooked and silky, the other fried dim sums like ham sui gok was fried to perfection not too oily! Sadly we wanted to get more food from Juliana but we already ordered so much and couldn't finish half of what was in front of us so we took the leftovers home! Overall amazing place to eat dim sum! Highly recommended!

Dim Sum menu is decent sized with plenty of choices. Staff is friendly. The food quality / taste is mediocre. A bit oily and salty, while lacking a bit of flavour. Fried dishes is missing wok hei.

Had a wonderful evening with my colleagues. Food prepared for us on a plate. You saw exactly how it was prepared. Always small, nutritious snacks and extremely tasty. We enjoyed it, I highly recommend having a nice meal here. Very friendly & helpful staff.

The owner/manager was extremely rude, and we ended up leaving without getting any food. We tried to order a dim sum, and he came angrily at our table to just be rude and demand some explanation, and we told him to forget it. Before we had finished our drinks or asked for the bill, we were forced to pay. I feel bad for the young staff, they were polite and nice. I would never go here again.

Even though I have been cycling and driving past here for years, we still went here to eat once. It is quite quiet here during the week, although it seems busy because unfortunately many outsiders park their cars here. The food was good! The lobster and large fish were especially tasty, two typical Chinese dishes that are not on the menu but you have to ask for them. Makes it a bit more like real Chinese food instead of the westernized meals. It was a bit strange to sit in an empty restaurant, but it didn't matter to us.

This was the worst experience we have ever had. One of the dishes we received was not fresh so we tried to discuss this with the waiter. Instead of solving the problem, they denied everything and started shouting at us. They took the dish away without offering a replacement but charged us anyway. When we refused to pay for the dish we didn't receive, one of the waiters pushed my friend with a plate, causing a bruise on her thigh. It was an incredibly horrible experience. We will never come back here again.

Very bad service . I went to eat again today but the service was really bad. Eating is fine. When they leave they eat themselves but do not get up to let the guests out or to wish them a nice day.
