Restaurant Karel V in Wijk 01 Goes

Had dinner on Christmas 2, it was delicious, the service was great and the interior too, we will definitely come back. 1 small downside, it takes a while.

Tasty dishes with fine wines for a reasonable price.

We were pleasantly surprised afterwards. Delicious food, tasty wine and top service with expert knowledge and a nice Rotterdam flair. Making recommendations without pushing too much, unfortunately we see this differently at other restaurants. Dishes beautifully flavored and focused on the season and location. Cheese board is highly recommended! All in all it was a successful evening.

Delicious food in the very cozy and attractive restaurant. Very friendly help from the host who enthusiastically told us about the building and gave us a tour. Totally fun!

Delicious dinner. Only shocked by the prices for the entrees, 2 scallops, or piece of pork belly with 1 asparagus for €22.50. Was happy that we ordered 4 courses and that we did not have to pay per course. Service was very attentive and friendly. That gives so much added value!

A very easy way to put together your own menu. Delicious dishes with tasty wine and friendly service. The centuries-old building also contributes to the pleasant atmosphere.

The meals were delicious and beautifully presented (see photos), and the prices were fair. The service was spontaneous and very friendly. We did have the impression that there was a long wait between courses. All in all, however, it was a super fun and pleasant experience!

Average quality Disappointed despite good comments. The chief must have been absent. Waiting more than an hour between each dish, summary presentation, average starters, unsorted sole, simplistic dessert for too high a price. It is better to close when quality cannot be maintained

Super tasty meal with very good service.

Delicious food, nice wines at good prices. (Not unimportant ;-) restaurant has the character of the Middle Ages, really warm and cozy. The food is fancy and of high quality... service genuinely pleasant and fortunately not stiff. Picture is complete for a successful evening out. Yes… I'm a fan!

Very good food and the atmosphere was immediately ok. A young lady came to serve and she did a great job! It's nice to see young people doing so well, chapeau!!

What a nice restaurant. It is beautifully situated next to the old harbour. In a historic building. It is very attractively decorated. The service is very friendly. And the menu varied. You can order per dish but also opt for a multi-course menu. That is cheaper. I think the price/quality ratio is good. You eat really tasty dishes and combinations that you would not simply prepare at home. I ate the fillet pure, my husband the fish. We had a delicious meal and really had an evening out.

A nice place, but did not live up to expectations. The form was absolutely outstanding, matching many luxurious restaurants we've been to - perfectly designed interior, great menu with intriguing ingredients, leading to high expectations from the outset. However, some dishes were clearly better than others - we both agreed, kingfish tasted better than tataki, and 'griet' fish with couscous was so great that my partner regretted choosing the seabass, which was 'just okay'. Waitresses were lovely, but clearly stretched too thin, with both serving us at the same time somewhat hectically (my partner joked that by 2nd dish we were asked five times if we want another drink, and he actually may have been correct). Alas, towards the end, the luxurious ambiance shattered - the coffee my partner received was absolutely too hot to drink (he had to wait 10 minutes before it cooled off to be drank safely), after the coffee was done we waited almost half hour to get the bill and pay (can't blame the staff - they were running around all the customers full speed), and we also got a copy of one of those advertising magazines with other hotels and restaurants - absolutely clashing with the ambiance and aspirations of the place. All in all, likely still one of the finest restaurants in Goes... But with a place with this ambiance (and prices) we expected more.

The atmosphere is great, the service is very personal and friendly, but the best thing is the taste! Delicious, authentic flavors for a great price

A Michelin star was very rightly awarded at the last presentation. Yesterday we had an excellent meal in the courtyard, delicious wines and a nice ambiance. Recommended!

Fantastic food, service and Ambiente

We moored with our boat just before Charles V and had bought 8 lobsters ourselves. We asked them for boiling water to prepare these on board. However, the cook spontaneously offered to prepare them himself in his kitchen. The chef diligently brought the lobsters to us on board, including delicious tarragon sauce. Hospitality knows no bounds here. A special evening you will never forget.

De verjaardag gevierd van Daniëlle! Eerste keer uitgebreid gegeten 7 gangen mooie smaken en combinaties met de wijnen.

Wir sind dank einer Empfehlung unseres Reiseführers hier gelandet. Das Restaurant hat ein tolles Ambiente, der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns viel von den Speisen erwartet, aber unsere Erwartungen wurden noch übertroffen. Das Essen war spitzenklasse, abwechslungsreich, neu, erfrischend anders und doch irgendwie klassisch. Die Kompositionen waren großartig und die einzelnen Komponenten harmonierten perfekt. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier essen. Auch unsere 4jährige Tochter war herzlich willkommen. Es gab zwar keine extra Kinderkarte, aber sie konnte bei uns mit essen und zum Hauptgang gab es extra Pommes. Jederzeit wären wir hier gern wieder Gäste.

Dat was een geweldige ervaring. Gewoon afgesproken dat we ons laten verassen door de chef. Een gokje? Nee een voltreffer! De nog jonge chef heeft samen met zijn team ons een onvergetelijke avond bezorgd. Fijne sfeer, top locatie, heerlijke gerechten, eerlijke producten. Kortom; een proeverij van met passie gemaakte lekkernijen. Dat gaan we vaker doen. Een aanrader: Rinus en Katja.

We discovered this restaurant through Michelin advice. The welcome is great; the meal was delicious as was the wine. We recommend this restaurant as for the atmosphere as for the welcoming and food and people are speaking English fluently.

Vanavond eerste ervaring bij Karel V, en kan niet anders zeggen dat het super was ! Super bediening. En super eten ! Annabel en haar team hebben ervoor gezorgd dat wij niets te kort kwamen! Mocht je in Goes zijn . Mis dit niet !

Lekker eten, goede bediening. Meer dan prima.

Mooie ambiance..... helaas het eten niet overeenkomstig met de prijs. De entrecote doorbakken, na opmerking geen reactie. Personeel heeft het druk met andere ( bevriende) gasten. De vis van de kaart was wel goed, niet de kwaliteit die we van het binnenhof gewend zijn.

Heerlijk en super mooi geworden

Zo op openingsavond enorm genoten van het heerlijke eten en de vriendelijke bediening. Top ook dat de kok na afloop wat geheimen wilde delen.

Heel gezellig en bijzonder vriendelijk personeel. Het restaurant is een bijzonder mooi oud historisch pand in een mooie historische omgeving. Het pand is na een stadsbrand dankzij de steun van Karel V medio 1500 hersteld.

Heerlijk vegetarisch gegeten. Mooie wijnen. Gastvrouw die haar zaak begeestert.
