Restaurant Klein Hartenstein in Oosterbeek West

(Visited here on Thursday, June 12, 2025) A small, delicious snack. I discovered this lovely restaurant on my hike. Very friendly and attentive service. Great atmosphere and delicious food. It makes the hike twice as much fun.

Well. Not really special enough. A nice place though! But it just isn't. Everything just a bit too flat in terms of taste, there is simply a lack of high, low and depth in the whole. The asparagus just not soft enough. The wine (and I asked if they could come up with something really special) not what you hope for and still not matching the dish. The service just a bit too rushed, the music just a bit too soft. The lamb was tender but not not lamb enough. Things like that, so to speak. It was OK, but it really lacks the finesse, the explosion, the power, the 'oh, that was nice' feeling. In the end we went home without really having created a memory. Afterwards we had to think hard about which dishes we had actually had. That pretty much typifies it. That feeling.

Hier geluncht na bezoek aan het museum. Ik nam een volkoren broodje met gerookte zalm. De zalm had bruine randen en smaakte niet zoals het hoort, dus dat liet ik de ober weten. Hij nam het broodje keurig mee terug en zei dat ik een nieuwe kreeg. Maar toen kwam hij terug met de mededeling dat de zalm op was en of ik iets anders wilde bestellen. En terloops zei hij dat er eigenlijk niets mis was met de zalm. Tja, dat zegt eigenlijk alles over deze zaak.

A real evening out. Very good quality food, beautiful dishes and knowledgeable service.

Restaurant in a historic place. Good food but limited choice - it is not bad, you only need to decide from a smaller amount. You could sit in the garden and feel comfortable. Around the corner is the airborne museum and some memorials.

Beautiful and impressive museum

I came up with the idea to eat at this restaurant because I saw a deal for the rating star dinner. I asked if the menu could be adjusted and that was no problem. We had dinner last night and we have eaten in quite a few restaurants, including star restaurants, and this restaurant can easily compete with them! I only missed the steak tartare 😉 Perfect and friendly service in a cozy atmosphere and the food was really good!

Delicious food, appetizer, starter and main course, ending with a tasty dessert. We received a warm welcome and friendly service throughout the evening! Definitely come back again!

Recommended! The food is delicious with a lot of attention to the presentation. The operation is correct and relaxed at the same time. The restaurant is cozy and tastefully decorated. Finally, the prices are very affordable. See for yourself, you won't regret it. Enjoy your meal!

I ordered the Caesar salad today. Halfway through I noticed that there was a black hair on my flesh. I suddenly stopped eating and had no appetite anymore. At checkout I showed the hair on the plate. The response to this was very tepid, "I can't do much about that now" and "sorry". I was offered a cup of coffee on the house, but I decided against that. But I was allowed to pay the full €15.95 for the salad. This was the last time for us.

Amuse wat te koud en moeilijk in een hap te eten, zoete aardappel zou er in zitten? De zwezerik was wat aan de rauwe kant, sausjes lekker, De rouleau van wildzwijn had geheel geen wild smaak. De zeebaars, erg lekker, rommelig opgemaakt, te zure Hollandaise saus, oude gefrituurde snippers van schorseneer en halve gare wortel balletjes. Fazanten gerecht stoofvlees, smakelijke cêpes saus. Herten filet en sukade, zonder veel smaak, half gare spuiten en fondant aardappel. Speculoos dessert viel tegen. Is het een restaurant? met bierviltjes en kaart van bittergarnituur en cocktails op tafel. De ene keer komen ze de wijn inschenken de andere keer niet. De rode huiswijn was te warm en met een ijsklontje was het beter. Bij vertrek loopt niemand mee naar de garderobe.

Delicious food, cozy and beautiful place!

After a visit to the Airborne museum we had coffee and cake here. First sat in a kind of downstairs room without windows, where there was no service. Then I looked for a table on BG which was free again. 10 minutes after we ordered coffee and apple pie, there appeared to be no more apple pie. We then saw them being served to the people who came after us. Then we sat in front of us for 10 minutes with cheesecake (from the freezer?) waiting for the coffee. Not once did service automatically come to the table. No success.

Good food, fun, they take you (SH) into account at the place they show you. The conservatory is less noisy. Good service, which they (help) train themselves. Friendly staff. I would definitely make an appointment, they are - rightly - very popular and then you will certainly have a place. But we can also just walk in.

We had a delicious meal there this afternoon with the four of them. Great atmosphere and the service is really great. Thanks family knock.

Very tasty meal. 4 course menu at 45 euros. Highly recommended. A year later we went for dinner with the 5 course surprise meal, €57.5 and it was super tasty again!

Was very disappointing. It looks chic, but it isn't. For the price I expected more. They ask if you are satisfied, but they are not actually waiting for your answer. We'll skip this one next time!

Na onze rit aangekomen bij het restaurant, het was lunchvtijd dus naar binnen. Zeer vriendelijk personeel, aan gezien een van ons een dieet heeft en dus niet alles mag werd er door het personeel meegedacht over iets lekkers. Resultaat was dat wij beide heerlijk hebben gegeten. Absoluut een aanrader!!

Our regular stop for more than 10 years after walking the Airborne Walking Tour. Super busy and pleasant. Top quality beer and bitterballen. And sometimes also a meal salad or something like that. The kids used to play on the field near the trees, but now they drink a beer with them. Hope this continues for a long time.

The Cesar salad consisted mainly of lettuce, with a few slices of ham and the goat cheese sandwich only had slices of cheese and no pieces of real goat cheese. Very disappointing.

Today we wanted to have lunch and asked if we could take a seat. This was possible! After walking by 3 times, another waiter came to the table and said that we could not order anything. They only had 3 employees and stopped for a while. They cleaned up first. When we asked why he had first said that we could take a seat, he said that this had been said by a part-timer. So never go here!

For €4.75 a very small glass of orange juice with lots of ice. Egg cooked all the way through so small it didn't cover the bread.

Het viel ons erg tegen. Ik had uitsmijter ham kaas. Super kleine eieren (3) die met gemak op 2 boterhammen paste en veelste ver door gebakken. €11,00 Glaasje jus d'orange uit de koelkast voor €4,75. Schandalig.

Onverwacht plezierige verrassing! Omdat onze 2 favoriete lunch locaties in Oosterbeek definitief gesloten zijn, moesten we uitwijken naar een ander restaurant voor de lunch. Via tripadvisor bij Klein Hartenstein terecht gekomen. Hier hebben we heerlijk geluncht! De kaart is uitgebreid en voor ieder wat wils. Een heerlijk terras met grote parasols. Alle gerechten worden mooi opgediend, zijn vers en smaken heerlijk! Een aanrader!

Really delicious food! Because there are so many different levels in the building, you always sit comfortably and not crowded. Service was very hospitable and always explained in detail what we were getting to eat, which gave it an extra experience. Definitely recommended!

Heerlijk terras, fijne bediening, goed eten en vlakbij het bos, park en het hertenkamp. Het Airborne Museum is 100 meter lopen.

Ontzettend lekker eten, Zeer Fijne, professionele bediening. De ambiance en de inrichting van het pand zijn fantastisch. Top! We komen zeker een keer terug.

Special mention to this place where we had apple pie and coffee before going into the Hartenstein museum. Parking for the museum is accommodated by the restaurant car park, which we were grateful for. Great service and food, peaceful place to hang out,

Hot ham sandwich, not restaurant worthy: 2 slices of cornbread (supermarket) on top of which 2 slices of cold ham (supermarket) warm satay sauce (ready-made) 2 fried eggs topped with fried onions (supermarket) salad without dressing or sauce. This for 12 euros. This is what I expect at a café or cafeteria or with friends or family.

Poor quality apple pie, very expensive for what you get. It looked like frozen apple pie from a wholesaler instead of a good apple pie slice from the pastry chef. We paid 4.75 per person for it.

This restaurant was located near the Airborn Museum. Had soup and a sandwich here. They were both delicious.

We had not made a reservation and there was still 1 table available. But it was so busy that the wait staff didn't take the time to take the order. They were in a big hurry and almost looked us away. Too bad, missed opportunity.

Heerlijk, informeel restaurant met ingehouden klasse. Je komt daar eigenlijk alleen doelgericht en die inspanning wordt beloond met prima service, prachtige spijzen en dito wijn of bier naar keuze. Ik zou ervoor omrijden. Aanrader dus.

Wij zaten in de ruimte ze de openhaard noemen, jammer dat de openhaard niet aan stond. Maar voor de rest mooie ruimte met 5 tafels. Al gauw kwam er een jongeman die ons vroeg wat we wilden drinken, echt een hele aardige, en zeer beleefde Jongeman. Hij vroeg nadat hij onze cappuccino had gebracht of wij de lunch kaart wilde. Nadat wij ja zeiden kwam hij al gauw met de lunchkaart. Ik nam de Caesar salade wat met brood geserveerd wordt, en mijn man nam de broodje beenham met ei en pindasaus. En beide waren echt voortreffelijk bereid. In de Caesar salade zat stukken ei, bacon, rode uitjes, zilver uitjes, ham, ansjovis echt heerlijk. En ik zat ook echt lekker vol.

Goede lunch tegen een redelijke prijs. Een aanrader.

Naast het Airborne museum zit dit gezellige restaurant. Wij hebben hier geluncht met munt thee met gember, broodjes beenham met ei en satésaus en een volkoren uitsmijter ham/kaas. Heerlijk vers brood en goede smaakvolle porties. Bediening is snel, maar nog wat onervaren. Denken wel in oplossingen. Heerlijk gegeten.

Mooie nette inrichting van het interieur. Prachtige schilderijen die eventueel gekocht of gehuurd kunnen worden voor de liefhebbers. Zeer net en vriendelijk personeel, die het waard zijn om een leuke fooi te geven of in ieder geval het bedrag af te ronden naar boven. Het eten smaakte uitstekend en is mooi gepresenteerd.

Heerlijk op het terras in het nazomerse zonnetje geluncht. Snel geholpen door een deskundige en vriendelijke dame. De biefstuk en clubsandwich waren heerlijk en goedkoper dan je van de ambiance zou verwachten.

Gezellige atmosfeer en vriendelijke bediening. Prachtig gelegen op landgoed Hartenstein met groot buitenterras. Smaakvolle gerechten. Goede keuze voor een avondje of etentje uit.

Dined here about a month ago. Kir Royal was generous, the main dishes as it should be (please find photo in attachment) and the cheese plate was interesting as it included Irish cheese. Ample parking, nice terras and polite staff.
