We stopped by around 5 pm on a Tuesday hoping to have a drink on the terrace. Despite most of the terrace being empty, we were told drinks-only guests could not sit there as tables were being kept for possible (?) reservations. A disappointing experience, particularly as we had specifically come for a drink by the lake.

Absolutely fantastic, this is how hospitality should be. I would recommend booking in advance, as we hadn't done so, but we had the last available table. It was a wonderful time enjoying ourselves with a beautiful view over the lakes.

As much as I’d love to come here, the food never was good. And this time, the fries!! Yes fries - how can you go wrong with fries. It was very bad. Sorry but I had to put it out there. Drinks are good though.

Wow... what a lovely place! We booked here because it's next to the Water Tower where we did the escape room. The weather was beautiful tonight, we were early so we got a nice table outside on the terrace. I felt like I was in Greece! Amazing!! Add to that the super friendly, attentive service and the delicious food, and you'll understand; 5 stars! The sgroppino, to our disappointment, wasn't made at the table, by the way, but it was one of the best I've ever had. Yes, we are definitely coming back!!

I just have to give 5 stars in almost every aspect... The atmosphere "only" 4 because I found it very busy. But then again, that says something, of course. It is a beautiful spot by the water. I had a table in the sand, which was immediately the least crowded part. I sat there wonderfully in the sun, enjoying the food. I was in the section served by Thijs, a young guy who does an excellent job! Polite, attentive, and friendly... You don't expect much more in the hospitality industry. Highly recommended in nice weather and perhaps at other times too...

What a lovely place in a beautiful spot.. great service.. attentive and quick.. unfortunately our ordered burger wasn't cooked properly, but we still enjoyed the beautiful location. The staff offered coffee on the house as compensation, so four stars anyway and we will definitely come back again.

Unfortunately, only one star. I had no chance to leave a review. The shop, or rather two female employees, turned me away – there was no room for me, neither on the completely empty terrace nor in the empty restaurant. I gave them a questioning look –> they said I wasn't welcome in my sportswear (I was out on my racing bike). It was almost 11:00 AM, I just wanted a quick coffee… and the place was empty. Unfortunately, appalling service.

Delicious food (and plenty of it), stunning location, friendly and efficient service

At 9:00 PM, the kitchen is already closed and new guests are no longer welcome. Even though the opening hours are listed until midnight?

Dinner with work colleagues and it was a great choice. A short drive from our hotel in Schiphol it felt like a world away. Watching wind surfers enjoy the last bit of daylight before we were basked in the glow of the sunset. Everyone enjoyed their meal and for me the shared cote du boeuf was fantastic.

I was here for a reception for our chairman Fokke vd Ven, who was stepping down and was presented with a beautiful ribbon by the Mayor of Aalsmeer. Delicious-tasting Heineken draft beer and excellent hot snacks. With beautiful sunshine on the outdoor terrace, it was a very pleasant afternoon.

Had a light group lunch, open face sandwiches were very good and nicely presentrd.

It was a superb family experience. We had a reservation and were seated on the terrace overlooking the lake. The setting is enchanting. The staff, perfectly bilingual, were incredibly attentive. The food was flawless. The blood orange, mozzarella, honey, and cashew nut starter was refined and refreshing. The subsequent courses were equally delicious (24-hour pork and ravioli). Finally, the shared dessert was the icing on the cake. Furthermore, the wine list offers a wide selection to suit all budgets. The prices reflect the quality of the experience.

The sandwich was tasty with fresh ingredients! The sweet potato fries were yummy. Nice and cozy in the sunshine, yet sheltered from the wind by the glass walls. The service was top-notch! 🤩

We visited restaurant On the Rock and definitely recommend this place. A great atmosphere – quiet, stylish, and perfect for a cozy get-together. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. There were six of us; everyone ordered something different, and everyone was satisfied. Definitely a place you would love to return to.

Attentive service with outstanding food.

We arrived there last night around 6:30 PM. We actually wanted a cocktail and some appetizers. Because it was so busy, that wasn't possible, just dinner. Oh well, dinner then. We've often had a delicious Moscow Mule there, which my husband ordered, and I started with a non-alcoholic virgin Ipanema cocktail because, like the Moscow Mule, it contains ginger beer. The waitress immediately asked if we wanted bread first. (They're clearly trained to upsell.) It took a while for our drinks to arrive. We had to ask for the menu ourselves, which was a bit inefficient and sloppy. The drinks: The virgin cocktail was incredibly sour! The ginger beer was completely inedible. There was no ginger beer in the Moscow Mule either, but the lime was dominant. I then asked why the cocktail tasted different (because they'd previously told me that they get their cocktails ready-made, so the flavor should be consistent). I said we'd like two Moscow Mules, but with the right flavor. She went to inquire what was different. Then we received our Moscow Mules. My husband's still didn't have enough ginger ale, and both of ours still had too much lime. It's really strange that even in one order, two cocktails have different flavors. So I called the waitress over and told her there wasn't enough ginger ale again. (This isn't a matter of personal taste, but simply the proportions in a cocktail.) Some ginger ale was added, and my husband got it back with a sort of "now it should be good," which was the bottom line. No apology or other courtesy was given. We first ordered bread, olives, and steak tartare (€17, which is quite expensive). This also took a long time. The bread and olives were delicious, and the steak tartare was good quality. Afterward, we both had the ravioli (€24.50 is really expensive for a portion of pasta), and neither of us found it particularly special. Then we both had the chocolate mousse cake (€14, which is also quite expensive for a dessert). A scoop of stracciatella ice cream on a bed of crumbs. The chocolate mousse in a rather sweet (salted) caramel sauce. We thought it was a real shame about the chocolate mousse's flavor. But that's probably just personal preference. We asked for the bill. We were curious if anything had been deducted from the bill. To our surprise, nothing at all!! We paid around €150 for 4 drinks and dinner. Absolutely no service! In short: *Great location! *Ambience and decor were top-notch! *Service was mediocre (there were only four people serving eight occupied tables on a Saturday night. I've worked in hospitality for 30 years, and I would have handled eight tables by myself, and with excellent service!). *Service was poor! We think it's a shame, but these people have no idea about customer loyalty. They could do so much better. It's a shame they apparently don't have the right business mindset.

Cyclists/athletes are not welcome: "We don't accept sportswear." The follow-up question about being able to have a cup of coffee outside led to the answer: "I don't serve outside."

Yesterday I was at The Rock Aalsmeer for New Year's drinks with my work. There was a buffet, but due to my allergy, I couldn't eat from it. My work had informed me of this beforehand, and I reiterated it upon arrival. The restaurant was fully aware of this and handled everything incredibly well. Separate meals were provided for me, and I could even choose from the menu. There was one staff member who specifically served my food and knew exactly what to expect. I was taken seriously in this regard, which made me feel very safe and comfortable. I also appreciated this from my employer's perspective: they could trust that my allergy and safety were in good hands at The Rock. Thanks to this experience, I would definitely return there again to dine with my family.

The first and also the last time we ate here. Our main course was 7 pieces of ravioli. The dish was delicious, but the portions were more appetizer-worthy, and for that price, you'd expect more. We then ordered two more portions of fries to make sure we were full. It's better to have a cappuccino elsewhere, as that wasn't a hit. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, but the service could definitely use some improvement. In short, an expensive evening that we won't be repeating. Fortunately, there are plenty of restaurants in the village where you get what you pay for.

At the beginning, everything went smoothly: a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. When I received the main course, I noticed a fried bug among the shrimp. I pointed it out to the waiter and the head waiter , who insisted it was just shrimp, even though it was clearly a bug, the wings were visible. I asked for the dish to be changed, saying it wasn’t a big issue and that these things can happen. Before that, I slightly cut the tuna on the side, just to check whether they would actually bring a new plate. After a short while, they brought back the same dish, simply rearranged, and I could clearly see the cut I had made. I didn’t eat it and only shared it with some friends to taste. To top it all off, they didn’t remove the dish from the bill. I didn’t say anything just to see how they would handled the situation…now for that treatment, they have lost 3 customers

Incredible view, food, and atmosphere. We arrived between lunch and dinner, but we had some starters and drinks. The hot chocolate while the area was covered in snow.

Went here for the first time today. The menu is very boring, all those standard things: croquettes, fried eggs, etc. I didn't eat it myself in the end. Tournedos with a potato costs almost €40, which is truly outrageous. But the biggest shame is the pasta on the children's menu... On a huge plate, 12 pieces of penne pasta with some cheese, and they dare to charge €10 for it. It's truly outrageous. We'll never go back; it's the ultimate scam.

I always write positive reviews, but not this time. Why? I made a reservation and told her I have a severe latex allergy, which always went well, but not this time. We were invited by people to celebrate my husband's birthday. My husband was seriously ill, but felt okay to go anyway. We arrived, ordered a drink and a basket of bread, and after half an hour we wanted to order. She still has a latex allergy. The girl went to the kitchen, and it turned out they were using latex gloves. Good thing I asked again. So we couldn't eat there. The people who invited us took an hour to get there. Disappointed. We just had to pay for the drinks and bread, and my pants fell down. I told them. I've been going there for years, what terrible service. I called them today and told them what I thought. They could have offered us the drinks on their birthday, worth the effort, and they didn't call to tell us they were using latex gloves. I was supposed to get a call about discussing it with the chef, about whether we might be able to eat there again in the future. A young lady was also a bit giggly, but I don't find it funny at all. I'm also angry because my husband is seriously ill, and I wanted him to experience as many pleasant things as possible, but this wasn't one of them. I read your reply and was even more shocked. I've been eating at your place for years, and I could always sit somewhere without balloons, in another room, or outside. It was never a problem, and now this reply. I've eaten at your place with quite a few people and always spoke highly of you. That's no way to treat customers; it's truly awful. It's a shame it had to end this way. I just wanted to be heard and to know that it had been handled properly. I wish you all the best. P.S. You've known about my allergy for years and how serious it was. Lying is not allowed.

Sadly disappointing! It's a shame the location is beautiful, but it's not ideal when 10 people show up instead of 12, and we still have to pay for 12. The drink selection has also shrunk, with no alternatives for allergies. Far too little sauce with the food, making it tasteless and dry. Our company won't be going there again.

Today (Sunday, 4 p.m.) we sat in the conservatory. Unfortunately, it wasn't a pleasant welcome: the table was still wet and hadn't been cleaned, there was no menu, and almost all the tables were empty. After five minutes, a waitress arrived without a menu and simply listed a few options (coffee, tea, beer, a few white wines). When we left later, we saw a beautiful wine cabinet – a shame that I'd already drunk a mediocre €8 glass of wine without really being offered a choice. The drinks platter was fine, but without forks. We received a glass with napkins, which also contained plastic wrap from previous guests, which looked untidy. In short: a top location, but the service and hospitality felt unloving and cluttered. A real shame, because the place has so much more potential.

Cozy place by the water for a nice lunch.

We were looking for a restaurant near our planned visit today and stumbled upon this gem. We're not familiar with the area and come from the beautiful eastern Netherlands, so we were surprised that we'd immediately chosen a good restaurant. We had a delicious meal, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Of course, the beautiful weather cooperated, allowing us to eat outside in the sunshine, but the food and service were also simply excellent. Highly recommended if you're looking for a restaurant with top-notch cuisine and passionate hosts.

On bank of large lake with kayakers, wind surfers and sailors. Sun sets over the water. Good beer options and had a limited menu due to a large party. Portions smallish but done well. Service was a bit slow and thought the waiters got a bit annoyed with having a large party. Thought the fries with mayo were some of the best I had in Amsterdam

We had a crack in the glass where part of the beer had already been poured... instead of a new glass and bottle of beer, we received the remainder poured into a different glass... that's not how it should be when you receive a cracked glass. The staff was definitely not friendly.

Great place for a dinner by the sea. We ordered burratina salad, and the catch of the day plus mussels as main course. Everything well prepared, the mussels especially. The soze of the dish is on the big size, so careful! Worth keepimg space for the dessert.

I've had several delicious meals, and just-in-time reservations don't seem to be a problem. The service is exceptionally fast, which I find a plus, especially if you have other plans. In other words, if you're planning a dinner out, be careful you don't end up back outside within two hours.

Beautiful location and great vibe! Unfortunately, the food isn't what you'd expect. For what they advertise on their website, it's not fantastic or special. Fine, but not 10/10. The service is slow and inattentive. Perhaps it depends on who's working, but that's our experience. You pay a premium for it, but it's not worth it for the food: 6/10.

Actually, this place it’s a very good choice to balance atmosphere, food and service! Attending a private event, it impressed from the start with the modern but still cozy design . The service really attentive and attending all the time and the food really high quality. I would not say this is a fine dining place but it is for sure very close. I do recommend it because it will be an un regrettable experience even the prism e is also up to it :)

Beautiful sunny evening and a lovely table practically on the water. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

Reserved With great difficulty a table at the window (took a long time) 'cozy' celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary with friends. We come here regularly. Today a disappointment: Carpartio sandwich comes out of the kitchen with a soup of mayonnaise on the sandwich. Bread almost impossible to get through Is solved perfectly by the staff, (an original carpatio) but without some bread? What a 'fuss', the rest of the group complains among themselves about the bread. Then dessert, please coffee at the same time with dessert (forget it) first the coffee and then later the dessert. Done: no more reservations.

So cozy and delicious. If you want to have a lovely dinner with friends or a business relation, this is the place to be. If you can't figure it out, you can simply ask the staff for advice and it will definitely be fine. The very extensive wine list is extra nice. Just take your valuables out of the car...

“Roast of the day” was beautifully cooked and came with some nice sides. Chill atmosphere in a quaint location, which was a nice switch up from the busyness of town. Decent meal, good service, solid option for a night out. Would like to see how the rest of the menu compares.

We met my sister for lunch at this beautiful restaurant, which boasts a prime location. After exploring the surrounding area, we sat outside on the terrace, which boasts a stunning view of the lake. The staff was very attentive, and the lunch was delicious, especially the parmesan fries with truffle mayo. So if you enjoy lovingly prepared food with a stunning view, this is the place for you!

1 beer 11 euros. Disproportionate.

We came here today after a long walk. We ordered two 0.5-liter beers, followed by two more. The bill blew us away: a whopping €52. They charged us for eight 0.3-liter beers. It wouldn't have been any different, but they had 0.5-liter glasses. We find that very outrageous. Impossible.

This restaurant was a nice switch up from the busy center of Amsterdam. The vibes, location, and view were on point, but the food was slightly underwhelming given the price. I ordered the catch of the day, which was prepared well, but the gambas threw the dish off a bit in my opinion. Overall, a solid option for a nice day if you are looking for a good atmosphere, and want to enjoy a meal near the water.

The service in the restaurant is disgusting. Us. They sat us at a dirty table. We waited a long time for the menu. The waitress wiped the table with a rag that fell on the floor. Then they sat an elderly couple at our table. They were then kicked out. Which is extremely disrespectful to elderly people. Small portions, and the price is high for such an establishment.
