What an amazing restaurant, friendly people, and the chefs in the kitchen are super. We had a delicious meal, and a heart-shaped pizza was made especially for our daughters 😁 highly recommended

My sister and I wanted to grab a quick pizza because we were going to De Tamboer. We mentioned that we were arriving on time and quickly ordered a pizza. In no time, the most delicious pizzas were placed in front of us. It is a very beautiful restaurant where a lot of thought has gone into the atmosphere. I will definitely come back again.

Bad, tasteless pizzas, and you don't get what you ordered. Deliberately ordering a pizza without salami, and what do you get? A pizza with salami.

We wanted to order something, but unfortunately no one answered the phone. When we arrived to pick it up, we received a very warm welcome. Unfortunately, we waited in vain for our order. It was a shame; after a good hour, we paid for our drinks and left.

Great location for a group meal. Only if you're vegan, there are no options. You'd expect a salad plate for €6.50, but even Albert Heijn can do better. A healthy option with whole-wheat pasta is €2.50 more expensive, even if you don't want Parmesan on it. The oven-baked bread is very tasty, though.

Nice restaurant. The food was served a little too quickly (within 10 minutes), which meant we had to leave quickly. Not suitable for a long, leisurely meal. The food was fine, but not spectacular. The price was reasonable.

A truly terrible experience. I called yesterday to order a pizza and specifically requested Pepperoni. Later, I called again to ask if mushrooms and onions were allowed, and then I clearly stated which pizza it was. They simply said "okay" without checking if we meant the right pizza. When we received the pizza, it turned out to be a completely different pizza than what we had ordered. I called back to explain this, and only then was I told: "We don't have Pepperoni, we only have Pepperone." But they should have told us that right away, instead of sending something else themselves. The strange thing is that the Pepperone already comes with mushrooms and onions, so they could have mentioned that over the phone. We asked if they could accommodate us and even offer to pay part of the bill, but they were completely unwilling to consider anything. No solution, no compensation, nothing. The pizza was also lukewarm, and to top it all off, we got sick from it. We will never order here again.

Wonderful Italian restaurant with top-notch service. I ate here today and it was truly enjoyable. The pizzas were delicious: fresh, flavorful, and perfectly baked. You could clearly taste the quality and love for Italian cuisine. Furthermore, the service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and fast, without being intrusive. I had pizza there yesterday, and it took half an hour to be ready. The pepperoni pizza I ordered was way too spicy; I've been feeling nauseous and have a stomach ache all day today.

I'd been there once before, and everything was fine and tasty. But now my friend recommended it, and suddenly it was all very disappointing. Our pizzas were greasy, the waitresses were at our table every five minutes, which we found strange, and after I mentioned our food, they were suddenly nowhere to be seen. I didn't hear anything after she said she'd pass it on to the kitchen. And quite a while later, one of our waitresses came by to ask if we wanted anything else. I asked for dessert for the two of us so I could leave the restaurant feeling a little full. But all in all, it was an unpleasant experience, especially compared to a great experience a few months ago.

The shrimp in the appetizer tasted absolutely awful. We mentioned it to the waitress, who said she would "pass it on." We received no response. The herb butter had little flavor. The pizzas were sparsely topped, but the flavor was good.

Highly recommended if you're in Hoogeveen! They have a wide selection of pizzas, and you can even create your own! The pizzas are very large, good quality, with plenty of toppings, and above all, they're delicious ❤️ The owners are super friendly, and together with their staff, they create a cozy and enjoyable evening 🫶🏻

We arrived without a reservation at a very busy time; there was actually no room, but we were allowed to take a seat at the bar so we could still eat. Very hospitable people and the food was delicious! Thanks for the warm welcome!

The onion soup looked like tomato soup with fresh onions mixed in. The pizza was tasteless. The atmosphere is more reminiscent of a canteen than an Italian restaurant. The waitresses were friendly.

It's very tasty. This is our fourth time here on our vacation, and the pizzeria is a must for us. The staff is super friendly. The food is prepared quickly and everything is super fresh. The pasta is cooked to perfection. We feel very comfortable there. The price/performance ratio is right.

Unprofessional and unfriendly treatment My experience with Pizzeria Mario in Hoogeveen is unfortunately very disappointing. I was a loyal customer for years and regularly ordered from them, without ever complaining about anything. Only once did I indicate that the tuna on my pizza tasted different than usual. The owner reacted remarkably fiercely to that: he refused to believe that anything could be wrong, got angry that I thought this at all, and my experience was completely ignored. I eventually got my money back via the manager, but it was clear that I was treated differently after that. Where previously just one dish was delivered to my home, after this incident it was suddenly said that orders could only be placed if at least two dishes were ordered. I stuck to that. Both orders after that went without any problems. Today I tried to contact them again to order, but my calls went straight to voicemail. When someone else called before me, they did answer. As soon as it turned out that the order was meant for me, they suddenly said that deliveries could only be made for orders over €50 — again, a condition that had never applied before. My telephone number has since been blocked, without any explanation. Of course, an entrepreneur can decide for himself who he serves, but from a professional catering business you can at least expect open and respectful communication. I find the way in which I — as a loyal customer — was excluded after one critical remark particularly unreasonable and disappointing.

Had a very nice meal at Pizza Mario. The pizza Calzone (double folded pizza) was delicious. When it is warm the entire front is open...so a fresh breeze blows in...delicious! Pizza Mario is recommended...

I had a nice pizza here, at the end of an afternoon on a Saturday. Though the dough is still a bit different from the one you usually find in Italy, it was still nice and thin. The ingredients tasted very fresh. The staff was very friendly. Would recommend, this is definitely a step up from some of the other "pizza places".

Pizza delivery to the Westerbergen campsite We had six pizzas delivered to the Westerbergen campsite. Ordering over the phone in English went smoothly. The driver called while at reception and the handover was smooth. However, we were very disappointed with the quality and price of the pizzas. We paid a total of €90 for six pizzas - we felt the price-performance ratio was absolutely not justified. My pizza with gorgonzola was particularly disappointing: instead of a decent portion of cheese, there were only six tiny blobs of gorgonzola on it, which was hardly tasty. The Margherita was also extremely dry and not very edible. Overall, I cannot recommend this pizza service. For the price I would have expected much more - both in terms of toppings and taste.

Picked up pizzas here for the first time today. Inside it looked neat and the welcome was very friendly. The pizzas were really good quality! Delicious in taste, perfect crust, richly filled. Price quality is optimal. We will definitely come back here. A small tip perhaps, but make a spot at the bar or something for those who collect, now I felt like I had to wait in the middle of the store.

We eat here once or twice a month. It's just always delicious. Good taste, good portioning (rather too much than too little). Very fair prices and the service is always super nice and caring. Address to recommend if you just want tasty and not too difficult Italian food. We would love to come again! No improvement at all?? A candle on the table would add even more atmosphere! Just try….

We made an online reservation via the restaurant's website. We received 3 same confirmation emails that this was approved. Then we arrived at the restaurant and it turned out that nothing had been reserved. We also received what we thought was a strange response. We sent an email asking why, but received no response. Other people we talk to about this also find this strange.

Food was tasty, service unfortunately not. The waiter had noted down the wrong pizza, so six of us could not start eating at the same time (it can happen). At checkout we were asked if everything had been satisfactory and we indicated that we regretted having to wait for the right pizza. Received the answer "that's a shame, better luck next time". Do not ask if everything was to your satisfaction if you do not take action. At least expect some compensation/discount.

A Pizza Drenthe at the Italian... absolutely great, very tasty food.

By far the worst pizza ever: wet pieces of onion, raw mushrooms and then covered with exactly round cold slabs of salami. As if only the base has been baked and the rest (from the bag) has been poured over it raw and lukewarm. The pasta with salmon was just as bad and smelled rancid. Tasted both dishes and left them alone. The Valpolicella was delicious but it came from the bottle.

Atmosphere is family, families and grand. Pizzas were big but without a nice taste. Lots of vegetables, tomatoes at supermarket level. Would rather have a smaller normal pizza with a good sauce than this one.

Had a nice meal with the children. Nice staff! We did find the shrimp cocktail pricey for the small amount of shrimp it contained with salad..

Not even worth a star! Black, greasy, unappetizing!! Doesn't look like a pizza in Italy. It's not greasy from the toppings. And with a kind of semolina on the bottom. And very unfriendly staff. Not recommended…. Pizzeria: Your response still hits home! I didn't say shit!! You are confused with someone else and demand a correction to my review! It is my/our opinion that I have judged you poorly. We live in a country with free speech. It cannot be compared to real pizzas from Italy and the customer friendliness you still find there. We will never come back.

Very nice Italian restaurant, the waiter was friendly and attentive. It is nice and fresh and modern inside. The kids get a coloring picture/coloring book with pencils there. That's very nice. The food was delicious, I ordered a pizza, quite large, thin dough and lots of cheese. 😋 They have house wine in the menu, half a liter for 10.5 euros. I have found my new favorite Italian restaurant. 🤩

Takeaway pizza. A real Italian pizza as it should taste and not one of those glorified frozen products from an American chain. The taste of Italy in Hoogeveen in a beautiful and atmospheric restaurant and with friendly staff.

Had a delicious meal with my mother, who is almost 90 years old, and she enjoyed it

Had dinner with 2 adults and two teenagers. It was very tasty. Pizza base nice and thin. The pizzas were well topped and larger than the plate and the plates were certainly not small. Starter and dessert were also very tasty. 4 years later, everything is still going well. Thin bases, thickly topped, for Italian prices.

Had dinner here tonight with a group of 6. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. The service was slow and clumsy. Bottles of drinks had to be passed over the table by us, while there was enough space to easily walk around the table. Our main course was served while everything from the starter was still in front of us. One person in the group did not receive new cutlery. After finding 2 eggshells on the pizza, the chef was nowhere to be seen and only the service apologized. Then we had to wait a very long time after the main meal and had to ask the waiter ourselves for the dessert menu.

Very friendly welcome Pizzas were delicious. And the tiramisu was divine!! Never had it better 😁😁👍 All in all, highly recommended.

Top pizzaria good food even after closing time

Nice and clean restaurant where you can sit outside, inside and covered outside/inside. Nice chairs! Friendly welcome, quick service and then the pizzas! Nice thin base with crispy edge, mine should have been a little closer to the fire but it was delicious! Fresh ingredients, tasty pizza. The desserts were also very tasty, I don't really like ice cream, but I almost ate the limonchello (I didn't need the chocolate sauce because I really like citrus). It is definitely worth a visit again, we enjoyed it 🥰 Parking in the area is not a problem because there are parking facilities everywhere around the Raadhuisstraat (not free during store opening hours). Super delicious food, great staff

We came for a fork with the whole family on Monday evening. We were able to place the order fairly quickly and received a drink immediately. The pizzas were real Italian brick oven pizzas. Even the variants with pineapple could be ordered. You could also order a salad, but the best part was that you could also order a tenderloin with fries or potato slices. My wife and I did that and enjoyed it immensely. The oldest children had a pizza and the youngest had fries with fries sauce. Then children's ice cream with a toy and we had a Dame Blanche. Delicious food.

We ate here for the first time last night and we really enjoyed it! Definitely recommended in our opinion! Delicious warm bread with herb butter beforehand, followed by pizza carbonara for me and pizza Mario for my partner. Very tasty, but both of us couldn't finish the last bit haha! Very friendly service from a young lady who was not afraid to have a chat. Very nice!

Nice staff (especially Nadine, very spontaneous!). Pizzas remind me of the pizzas from Italy, thin bases and fresh ingredients. In addition, you immediately feel the solidarity and family experience that this company has as soon as you enter this great pizzeria. Definitely go if you want a successful evening!

From The Hague with friends from Hoogeveen we had dinner at Mario's last Saturday. It was delicious! What delicious (thin), tasty pizzas. You can clearly taste that they came from the brick oven. The starters and desserts were also delicious. Initially, the lighting in the part of the restaurant where we were sitting was quite bright, but the service quickly did something about it at our request so that the atmosphere was also okay. Service pleasant and friendly; just nice girls! In The Hague I don't know where to get such tasty pizzas. Next time we are in Hoogeveen we will definitely visit Mario again!

Very good food! Friendly service However, it was disappointing that we had to pay for tap water! After all, we ordered two bottles of wine and 5 half liters of beer for 4 people.

A pizza with added peppers and onions, Parmesan cheese and oregano is made with burnt vegetables. When I went back with the pizza, the immediate reaction was "this is not made properly". No, I understand that too, but now I have it I missed dinner with my family. If you know it's not good, you don't give the pizza to the customer, do you? Save yourself the trouble and go to Domino's or New York Pizza, at least you'll get a decent pizza.

Had a wonderful dinner! Friendly staff and tasty food. The carpaccio was delicious, there was a lot of onion on the Mario pizza, but tastes differ. Perfect crispy base from the beautiful stone oven! We were a bit surprised that it was so quiet with such good food.
