Self-service, in itself no problem at all, but even though it wasn't busy at all, I still waited well over half an hour for two simple sandwiches. The view made up for a lot.

Nice view of the heath from the terrace. The food, in this case a schnitzel, was decent; it could have been a bit thicker, then it would have been slightly softer. Nice place to have a drink on the self-service terrace after a bike ride.

Ordered a peach ice tea, got green ice tea. That was perfectly fine, but then ordered a brie sandwich. The sandwich was downright disgusting. Honey was just dripping off the bread. It was soggy and not tasty. After that, we wanted to order some drinks. I ordered a chai latte and the other an Erdinger. We ordered, and it said latte macchiato. I asked why it said latte macchiato, and she said it was the same thing. No, that is something completely different. Anyway, we got a chai latte after all. Next, we wanted to pay, and a chicken wrap was listed; we said NOTHING about a chicken wrap. Then we mentioned this, and she said: "Oh, so you don't want it after all?" In a very nasty tone. Such rude people here. The food isn't good, and they're rude on top of that. I am dissatisfied and will NEVER come here again.

Nice restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and a beautiful view, but unfortunately, the plant-based selection is limited to a simple salad. Furthermore, plant-based milk is not available. Hopefully, they will expand their menu with more sustainable and plant-based options!

First walked the yellow and light green routes and then ate a delicious pancake at Schrieversheide. Great!

Lovely restaurant/pancake house right on the heath. Perfect for recharging after a hike/walk. I had the pancake with banana and chocolate sauce and was really full even though I had hiked almost 13 km through the heath beforehand.

The café is very inviting. Great outdoor seating area. Drinks and food are ordered in the restaurant and then taken to your table. The staff were very nice and friendly.

The cherry lentil tart was downright bad. The cappuccino was not barista quality and you have to order inside, where you are not welcome with a dog. Quite inconvenient if you are alone. Fortunately, there was a friendly guy on the terrace who could look after the dog for a bit.

I'm actually not used to self-service anymore. We were even asked to return empty glasses. So.... had to pick them up ourselves and return them ourselves. But I didn't get a discount or any labor costs. 🤣🤣

To me, Restaurant Schrieversheide is much more than just a restaurant… it is *the* place I love to go. My go-to spot for the most delicious lunch, a moment for myself to enjoy and unwind, but also the perfect place to share beautiful moments with my son. Whether I step inside alone for a delicious lunch and a little time for myself, or come to enjoy a mouthwatering pancake with my little man… every time, it feels like coming home. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and relaxed, and you can tell that every guest is cared for with passion and attention. My son loves it here too! While I enjoy a tasty treat, he can play happily in the adjacent playground. A place where children have fun and parents can truly relax. It is precisely this combination that makes Schrieversheide so special. It is a restaurant where everyone is welcome: young, old, alone, or together. A place to make memories, enjoy good food, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while!

Last week, I went to the Brunssumer Heide to see the heather in bloom. This usually happens in the period from mid-August to mid-September. The heather looked beautiful. It was in bloom. A lovely purplish glow covered the entire heath. Especially with the sun shining on it beautifully. After the lovely walk on the heath and the surrounding area, we sat down on the terrace here. You do have to go inside yourself to order whatever you want to drink or eat. There is a clear walking route here as well, regarding COVID-19 regulations. The food and drinks are good here. The outdoor terrace is lovely to sit on. Beautiful view of the Brunssumer Heide. By the way, dogs are allowed on the outdoor terrace. Now, after a bike ride of +/- 35 kilometers, I made a stop here. I needed to refuel. So I went inside, because you have to order and pick up whatever you want to consume from the inside. After which you take your tray to the outdoor terrace, where you can find a table—perhaps just under a large parasol—and take a seat. Unwind for a moment with your snacks. And on we go again.

I have truly never understood that in an area frequented by SO MANY dog lovers, a restaurant has existed since the 90s where NO dogs are allowed inside. I have walked the Pieterpad, but this is truly unique in the Netherlands.

You are right in the middle of the Brunssummerheide, with a great view of the heath. The goulash soup is delicious.

Friendly staff, it is self-service which is fine. However, it would be nice if, for example, 3 small dishes were already on a tray with the cutlery. But anyway, once you know this, you just help yourself. The food was very tasty: soup, mini pancakes, vegan waffle. All great!! Dogs are allowed outside on the terrace but not inside.

A staff member who has been working there for quite some time thinks she is the boss and can snap at customers. Had ordered bread with croquettes. Received it reasonably quickly. However, both croquettes were frozen. Went back to the kitchen and asked the female employee (wearing too much makeup) in a normal tone: "Do you also have croquettes that aren't frozen?" The answer I got was: "You could also say that in a normal way." I didn't think I heard correctly, judging by the tone she was using. I went back again and asked if I had heard correctly. She said yes again. I said: "Well, woman, if you treat all the customers so rudely, then I know what to do." The woman standing behind me agreed with me. The employee even walked away angrily and said: "I'm done with this." Well, Schrieversheide, teach that woman some manners, or if she can't handle the pressure, for God's sake, chase her away. Great restaurant with a wide selection of tasty dishes. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. The view from the terrace is amazing, and the interior is also much cozier after the renovation.

A little gem in a beautiful hiking area

Large terrace and spacious self-service restaurant. The pancakes were poorly topped and didn't seem fully cooked. 2 slices of bacon on a bacon and cheese pancake is very meager, in my opinion. The Italian pancake was also sparsely topped. The ham was tough, there were very few mushrooms and very little bell pepper. Not recommended and quite pricey. A shame...

Beautiful location and view of the heath. However, the ‘Special’ pancakes were downright terrible. They had no crunch or flavor, were undercooked on the inside, and had very mediocre toppings. The ingredients, to the extent there were any, did not seem fresh. We left three-quarters untouched because they were inedible. Probably one of the worst pancakes I have ever eaten, and for €16+ at that….. Feel free to go here for a drink to enjoy the beautiful view, but the food is not recommended.

This restaurant is located in a beautiful dog park, but dogs are not welcome, and you're expected to sit on the unheated terrace in sub-zero temperatures. Simply outrageous! The service is like McDonald's, the prices are like a roadside diner, and they seem to prefer customers who linger all afternoon over a single coffee to those who stop in after a long walk with their dog and want to use the space properly. We ended up driving back to Germany, where we were greeted warmly despite having a dog. One star only for the location!

The food is just fine. It's a shame you have to pick up your own food and drinks, though, which I didn't expect for the price.

It's a self-service restaurant where you can enjoy delicious pancakes, sandwiches, and more. There's a large terrace with a truly stunning view. Unfortunately, I was there at the end of October, and it was too chilly to sit on the terrace.

You enter and are greeted with a sign that reads: "People who only want to use the restroom have to pay 1 euro!" Just so you know! Then you walk into a huge, brightly lit display case, containing two boring pies, completely empty otherwise, with a few children's fingerprints on the glass. What did surprise me was the beautiful, sleek decor and quite a few large vases of artificial flowers. They had clearly put some effort into updating the interior! A plus. Only the fun, informative section for children was gone, and in its place were tables, many tables empty, which felt like an empty room hoping for better times. Okay, I ordered, and I paid 4.20 euros for a latte macchiato with a cookie brought from a large plastic bucket that was placed next to it. Good for the environment, without the plastic wrapper, so to speak. A plus: The young ladies behind the counter weren't overflowing with friendliness. Absent and quick is the right word. I was able to grab sugar and teaspoons from the bin next to the cash register. The children also had chocolate milk with whipped cream and tea. Luckily, they also got a cookie from the large bucket!

The staff is friendly and the pancakes are delicious, but I find the value for money very poor. It currently feels like you're paying extra for the view. For an average lunch price of €20 per person, I would expect table service at the very least. Currently, you have to order at the cash register (where there's a relatively long line) and pick up your order yourself. Furthermore, it takes quite a while to get your food. We had to wait 25 minutes for two pancakes. Our drinks were already finished by that time. We also didn't think the cappuccino was worth €3.80 for the ratio of coffee to milk it contains. I would advise this company to lower their prices a bit and perhaps change the ordering and serving process. They could place QR codes on the table for ordering and have the staff serve the food and drinks. This would also prevent congestion at the cash register inside.

Walking on the heath is lovely, provided there aren't any idiots walking around with knives, but food and drinks in the restaurant are very expensive. Do they think they're a 10-star restaurant? It's like a McDonald's with self-service.

Today I had a delicious gluten-free vegan pancake. I've never had one this moist anywhere; we'll definitely be back! The toilet was a bit of a concern today. No soap or toilet paper.

We think the terrace looks nice, but we wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The coffee isn't good. The soft drinks come in large bottles and are poured into glasses. It looks like fake, still soft drinks. And you pay €3.20 for that. The beef croquettes don't contain any beef either. Nine croquettes for €9. There was also a hair in one of the croquettes. I don't know if this was a problem at the factory. You do have a nice view, though.

Beautifully situated on the edge of the Brunssummerheide. The spacious terrace offers a lovely view of the heathland. It was quite busy on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. You must place your order inside and pay immediately. If you order food that requires preparation time, you'll receive a pager that will go off when it's ready. You'll then need to collect it inside yourself. Afterward, you're responsible for clearing the table yourself. Prices are a bit steep; a slice of custard is €4.20 and a pancake is €15.00. The menu is suitable for lunch and brunch, not for dinner.

A pleasant day-trip restaurant in the Brunssum Heath. The menu is limited, but should offer something for every taste, whether cakes or snacks, from sweet to savory. There are various coffee specialties and cold drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Ice cream fans will also find something to their liking. The prices are moderate.

The croquettes had a floury taste, the fries were soggy; I only ate a few. The children's pancake wasn't cooked through. The strawberry milkshake was perfect. The location and patio were good.

Always a pleasant place to stop over. It's beautifully decorated and well-maintained. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. And the surroundings are beautiful, of course. Friendly staff.

According to the website and the opening hours there, it's open until 6:00 PM. We, and others, wanted a drink after a walk before 5:30 PM, but there were no sales. And that was in the middle of the summer holidays on a beautiful walking day. So disappointing. We'll stop somewhere else next time.

I've been coming here for years, so it's high time for a review. It's a beautiful, recently renovated restaurant. Delicious food with a lovely view. Perfect for a stop after a walk or bike ride.

The chicken strips we ordered were nice plump piece of chicken with crispy breading the cashier was rude and inconvenienced by the customers presence. They were obviously working on something else and they did not want to stop to service the customers space was clean and open. plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view with plenty of overhead covering to shade from the sun Menu was very overpriced. Definite tourism price gouging

A lovely self service pancake restaurant with a large terrace with a great view over the heather and nature. But definitely take some poffertjes on the side or pancakes for lunch with the and assorted coffee and pies definitely will keep me going back to walk the nature trails or wade in the water with this as a base to start from. Perhaps for a restaurant closed somewhat soon, but recommend for lunch and drinks.

There quiet, beautiful view of the surroundings, great place to take a walk on the heath. And the best: a bike ride along the red stream, towards Schinveld. Truly one of the most beautiful bike routes I have experienced. Was also very quiet, But yes, during the week Tuesday outside the holiday!

Prachtige locatie. Bitter Lemmon geschonken uit een grote fles, waar vorig jaar de prik vanaf was. We durfden het niet aan dit nog een keer te bestellen. Waarom geen flesjes? Bij dezelfde bestelling appelgebak, die heel ranzig en oudbakken smaakte. Met deze horeca tarieven mag je toch kwaliteit verwachten. Vorige keer hebben we na ons bezoek feedback gegeven. Als er dan niets mee gedaan wordt is dat teleurstellend.

The outdoor terrace of this restaurant overlooks the Brunsummerheide. The atmosphere is good, the food is freshly prepared and very tasty. Only there is self-service, order at the counter/cash register. You get drinks right away and for the food to be prepared you get a buzzer. Excellent solution for lack of staff. You can park your bike nearby (but out of sight of the terrace) there is even a charging point. Make sure you have good security (lock/chain) because bike thieves are active here. Furthermore, you can cycle excellently here. Rondje Groeven is indicated on the excellent cycle path.

Today we were helped in a friendly way, after 40 minutes our food was ready, which I thought was quite long. The pancakes were barely warm and quite hard in structure. The crunchy chicken sandwich in that is recommended. Hence the slightly less stars for the food.
