Good evening. I ate here for the first time tonight, and since I'd never heard of it before, I thought it would be nice to eat there. All courses were fine and tasted really good. It certainly wasn't exceptional, but it certainly wasn't "dirty" as some people here say. Everything was just fine and did what it was supposed to. Personally, I thought it was a bit small, but that probably says more about me than the portions. The service was truly excellent. Very friendly and polite. Thanks for the food!

Steakhouse with a great menu and delicious dishes, definitely recommended.

We had a wonderful meal on the terrace of this beautiful building on the edge of the city center, right by the water. What a fantastic spot!

Had a great meal at the Ijsherberg in Dokkum. Bread platter as a starter, then mustard soup, and the main courses Babi ketjap and chicken Piri piri were very tasty. We only had to wait an hour for the main course. Desert was Dame Blanche, you couldn't choose this. Staff very friendly. We will definitely come back!

My wife and I had reserved a table just in case. When we arrived, we were the first guests. From ordering drinks, appetizers, and new drinks and main courses to the serving of the last course (which took 1.5 hours), we were there for over three hours. Unfortunately, the steaks were still extremely rare... not as ordered. The rest was great... but you have to be patient... grin.

Nice place in the center of Dokkum

We made a reservation shortly beforehand. Despite the fact that it was quite full, we were offered a spot where we sat with pleasure. The staff had a high work pace. Friendly and adequate. The meal was very tasty. We were also spontaneously surprised with a festive touch after they had heard that we had something to celebrate. Worth repeating. we had saved stars via lidl and we could eat there at a discount, (the discount did not match the card by the way) never been there so we gave it a try. agreed for 6 pm, we were on time. After us 3 more couples also came to sit in the same room. there was enough to drink! around half past 6 we each got a mini spring roll! 19.05 the mustard soup came with 2 pieces of baguette... drinking went very quickly and enough! 20.05 the food comes, again not for us! 20.15 I am done with it, my husband too, yes 5 more minutes! we left after waiting for 2.5 hours and only 1 mini spring roll (from the shop) and a cup of mustard soup and no main course yet!! I wanted to pay but that was no longer necessary, this was the only positive! their argument, understaffed and it was busy

A big bow for the blonde lady in the service. What a topper! Everything is well organized and super friendly. The food is also really delicious, lots of variety and a good portion. The spareribs fall off the bone and you can choose between spicy or sweet or even both, the pepper steak is also just right😍

With our family we enjoyed spicy and sweet spareribs plus side dishes. Deliciously tender and seasoned, what more could you want :) Very friendly help!

Update May 2025: Went here again, now with unlimited chicken and no disappointment this time either. The atmosphere was nice, the service correct and extremely friendly, the reserved table was ready and above all: a delicious, more than sufficient meal and when the bowl with various chicken dishes was finished, the service came to ask if anything needed to be replenished free of charge. And with fresh assorted vegetables. It tasted great and is definitely recommended. Even though this was a social deal offer, they had not taken it away. 2021 What good quality. A free olive appetizer beforehand, then a particularly tasty asparagus soup, followed by a mixed grill with various meat dishes, vegetables, apple sauce and fried potatoes. And ending with a beautifully presented dessert. All this served by a very friendly and correct girl. The location on the water is also very beautiful. Will definitely come back again.

Had a great meal on Friday May 2. Tasting board for two as a starter, meat/fish board as a main course. A table further away they each had their own main course, which looked good too. If you are ever near Dokkum, you can eat well here. Free parking approximately 100 meters away, large parking lot. The downside was the long wait, 35 minutes for the starter, 45 minutes for the main course. Possible force majeure (illness?), but please report it immediately It seemed like two inexperienced girls serving, the starter was not explained. She didn't know all about beer on tap, it could happen. But a few minutes later she was asked the same question a table away, so make sure you have an answer ready. Main course explained by the third, more experienced lady. She also said that her colleagues have not been working here for very long. Everyone has to learn it, but as a restaurant, use it to your advantage. Note: well-filled wine glasses!

Bought unlimited chicken food via social deal. Was a lot. Couldn't even finish the plate with different types of chicken. It took a while before we got our food. We were there on Easter Monday. It was busy. Friendly service.

As a vegetarian I had 1 choice, but that's all you need. The sweet potato curry was delicious! The service is also smooth, friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is also nice, it feels like a cozy living room. Highly recommended!

Social deal was mediocre. The nachos had almost no toppings, the stew was nasty and had almost no meat in it. Plates were neatly laid out. Dessert was decent. And service was excellent, hence 2 stars.

We had All-You-Can-Eat chicken via social deal. Food is great, everything super tasty. Service is smooth and they do everything to please. Before the main course is on the table it is 2.5 hours later. The kitchen and service should do their best together. At 6 pm on Sunday it is busy, all tables are occupied. You wait for your food while neighbors are already busy with their 3rd order.

The building looks very beautiful inside and out. Expectations were high, probably too high. Usually it can only be disappointing and disappointing, it was. Order a drink, no, we no longer have that in our range. Something else, no unfortunately we only had it in a large bottle, so it was without injection. Finally, with the 3rd drink, it was available. Then a bread board arrived quite quickly, 5 pieces of bread for the three of them and some inflated flammkuchen pieces. Then the long extended wait for our all you can eat chicken began. We were the only group of 9 in the restaurant on Friday and had made a reservation a week in advance. We got the feeling that we were not counted on. The food took a very long time and we received the main course after 2 hours of sitting and the vegetables we received had already cooled down quite a bit. In the end, the meat was fine, but the whole atmosphere and service surrounding it was not what we expected and this We were very sorry about our family dinner. We ate here because we saw a brochure that said unlimited pancakes with toppings of your choice, sweet and savory. However, upon arrival it turned out that you had to pay 8 euros extra for the savory... We did this anyway and received a small plate with little stuff on it and burnt vegetables. The waiter did not come to the table for new drinks or pancakes. they couldn't handle the crowds.

Vreselijk om je bruiloft hier te vieren. 20:30; tap leeg..vervolgens wordt er ook nog gezegt dat mijn gasten vriendelijk gezegt iets te dorstig waren 🙈 Geen tegemoetkoming gehad op de lauwe flesjes bier die vervolgens werden geserveerd in allerlei soorten merken. Ik had een concept; all-inn tot 00:30. Toch durven ze de schuld nog bij ons neer te leggen. Personeel was onvriendelijk en wat er in de offerte is besproken is bij lange na niet nagekomen. Een tegemoetkoming zit er bij deze eigenaar niet in. Zoals bij elke slechte recentie heeft hij altijd een weerwoord wat onterechte is. Wij hadden onze mooiste dag nooit weer hier gevierd als we dit van te voren hadden geweten. Waardeloos dus!

Fantastische locatie en vriendelijk personeel . Wij bestelden botermalse ribeye en diamanthaasspies. Het vlees was goed medium bereid maar de ribeye had geen rib en was taai. De diamanthaas was redelijk maar ook niet erg mals. Het bord was rommelig opgemaakt. Al met al een matige ervaring. Personeel wilde wel wat doen maar als het vlees goed is bereid dan valt er weinig aan te verbeteren. De inkoop zou dan moeten wijzigen.

Paasbrunch was in één woord geweldig. Gezellig en volop keuze, zowel koude als warme gerechten. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Voor herhaling vatbaar!

Delicious food! Mushroom soup was nice and creamy (although I sometimes thought the mushrooms were a bit large, but they were not inferior in taste!)! The pulled pork was as soft as butter and the crème brulee topped it off! Very surprising with the white chocolate that was light to taste!

Ordered a Christmas buffet for home. Delicious varied food, good quantities

We enjoyed the luxurious takeaway menu with our family on Boxing Day. Ready on time, delicious variations, well packaged in warming boxes, it was super tasty, highly recommended and worth repeating!

Anderhalf uur moeten wachten op het hoofdmenu. Daarover geklaagd bij de bediening die ons als compensatie drankje aanbood namens het huis. Toen nog half uur moeten wachten. Hoofdmenu was niet zoals op de kaart stond. Excuses voor het lange wachten was de drukte volgens de bediening terwijl er maar 3 tafels waren bezet. Jammer maar voor ons geen Steakhouse de IJsherberg in Dokkum weer.

Very mediocre, expected much better. It started with ordering a beer, asked for a bold blonde with alcohol, tap was empty and got a bottle of 0.0. Not everything is on the menu. We ordered a diamond hare skewer and a bavette steak, both ordered medium. The diamond skewer was tasty, a bit on the raw side, but it was fine. Then the bavette steak, also ordered medium. Received absolutely raw, both sides slightly brown and warm on the outside and served and blood red on the inside, in other words not fattenable so not eaten (about 36 euros). Fries were a bit too potatoy, but that obviously varies with taste. Come once and never again!👎

Prima plek om te dineren. Wij zijn hier beland omdat 2 andere tenten in dokkum vol zaten. De kwaliteit van het eten is goed. Helaas waren de porties van het stoofpotje er klein.

Exactly what we were looking for!! Tired, hungry sailors looking for a cozy atmosphere with delicious food, Tomahawk steaks and ribs cooked to perfection, yummy red wine and creme brulee. Our patient waitress dazzled us with the local language and was intuitive, quick and informative. Definitely worth a return visit.

Geweldig mooie lokatie en fantastisch lekker gegeten.

Gezellig restaurantje leuke ambiance. Met z'n drietjes all you can eat menu besteld. Lekker soepje vooraf, als hoofdgerecht allerlei te grillen vlees, vis en groenten op een borrelplank. Toetje lekker bolletje ijs met slagroom, koekjes krum en karamel!

Vanavond dachten wij Dokkum af te sluiten met een etentje in de IJsherberg Het voorgerecht bestaande uit een proeverij van meerdere voorgerechtjes liet te wensen over prijs kwaliteit zijn niet in verhouding voor wat je krijgt het was meer een borrelplank ook de Bavette die ik besteld had was doorbakken ook de tweede was niet best Misschien een tip voor de keukenbrigade.Dat ze alle bereide gerechten zelf eens kritisch gaat beoordelen op smaak en kwaliteit en prijs verhouding dat zou de zaak ten goede komen. Heerlijk gegeten in dit restaurant net buiten Dokkum, normaal komen wij niet in dit gedeelte van Dokkum maar kwamen er toevallig langs deze keer. Super bediening en een leuke kaart als je een vlees liefhebber bent. Een aanrader als je in Dokkum iets te eten zoekt.

Heerlijk diner genuttigd. De bavette, rib eye spies en 1kg zoete spareribs. Echt super lekker, genoeg en in combinatie met de groente op het bord een smaakfestijn.

Sfeervol restaurant, vriendelijke bediening en heerlijk eten. Onze kinderen waren koud van de regen hierop kwam de bediening met dekentjes om ze op te warmen. Erg attent!

Tijdens onze vakantie hebben we hier eten besteld voor afhalen. In verband met onze hond die helaas niet alleen kan zijn en té druk is in onbekende omgevingen was afhalen een perfecte uitkomst. Uiteraard zat bij afhalen het eten in "afhaal-verpakkingen" wat de kwaliteit meestal niet ten goede komt. Ondanks dat waren wij uitermate te spreken over de goede kwaliteit. Ook de service en duidelijke communicatie waren top. Als we weer in de buurt zijn is het zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. En als we de hond niet mee hebben zullen we zeker zelf binnenlopen.

Food was delicious. We ate steaks, ordered medium and they were perfect ⭐️. Big plus are unlimited fries as a side dish to every steak. Waitress was kind and smiling. Big advantage of this place is that the restaurant is situated on the shore of the river so view and experience are breathtaking. Terrace is nice and flowery, interior is furnished with the historical style. Recommend for perfect date! We will come back soon :))

Sehr nettes Steakhaus. Rustikales Ambiente, sauber und ordentlich. Nettes Personal, freundlich. Könnten auch glutenfreies Essen anbieten.

Proeverij van het huis gehad, was prima! Maar de biefstukjes waren niet te eten! Verder super goed restaurant!

Het eten smaakte prima, wij vonden het wel wat lang duren voordat we het hoofdgerecht op tafel hadden (dat vonden mensen naast ons ook).

Samenvattend: een steakhouse waar geen steak op het menu staat. De 'steak van de week' was een bavette (en dat is geen steak). Het menu op de website (met een steak als mogelijkheid) wijkt af van het menu in de zaak. De porties zijn daarnaast werkelijk te klein in relatie tot de prijs. Ook word je niet gevraagd hoe je je vlees bereid wilt hebben. Het duurt erg lang voordat je kunt beginnen met de maaltijd ( een uur wachten op een voorgerecht dat eveneens exorbitant te duur is)

Eten smaakte prima maar het duurde een uur voor het voorgerecht kwam en het hoofdgerecht en nagerecht duurde ook ongeveer een uur, jammer.

Ein ganz besonderes Highlight unser Reise, super Service, sehr sehr leckeres Essen und das Haus mit seinen Mitarbeitern hat einen Tollen Charme. Wir waren sehr glücklich und konnten den Abend wirklich genießen.

Jammer. Dat is het woord dat blijft hangen. En dat is jammer. De kok doet zijn gruwelijke best, maar de zaalcrew maakt er een onvoorstelbare bende van. 3 voorgerechten worden in 2 sessies opgediend. Van de 4 hoofdgerechten komt er eerst 1, daarna komen er nog 2 en na 15 minuten de laatste. "De computer heeft het fout gedaan" is het excuus. Het is 1 grote rommelzooi; en da's jammer van de moeite die de kok zich wél getroost.

Geweldig kerstbuffet genoten samen met kinderen en kleinkinderen ( speciaal voor kleinkinderen een kinder buffet en een speelzaal) kortom fantastisch !

2e kerstdag met de familie (9 personen) een lopend buffet gehad. Al met al was het niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Het was té druk qua mensen, iedereen ging tegelijk lopen, geen structuur. Het aanbod was te karig. Geen groentes. Schalen waren steeds leeg, er werd veel te traag bijgevuld. Tevens weinig voor een veganist in ons midden, terwijl er vantevoren werd gezegd dat er genoeg keus was voor een veganist. Het toetje maakte veel goed. Jammer dat er neanderthalers bij waren, die iedereen aan de kant drukten. Voor dik €400,- was ons dit helaas niet waard.

In 1 woord heerlijk! Vlees zoals vlees hoort te zijn, met de bijpassende groeten en garneringen en eveneens met zorg bereid. Wij hadden de mixed grill en kip terejaki, met 6 gratis zelf uit te zoeken bijgerechten. Elke cent waard, en wij konden er zelfs 2 dagen van eten.

Gezellig, goed eten en fijne service! Ook voor congressen en lezingen zeer geschikt.

Ontzettend sfeervol restaurant, was nu helemaal versiert in sinterklaas thema. Eten was heerlijk, goede porties. ook leuk en voordelig sinterklaas menu. Onze kindjes (1 en 6 jaar) hebben ook heerlijk gegeten. Erg vriendelijk personeel. En je kunt super dichtbij gratis parkeren op een ruim parkeerterrein. Zeker een aanrader!

Eerste keer hier , voorgerecht waren allemaal hapjes erg lekker😁 paar minuten later kwam het hoofdgerecht van onze zoon de spareribs erg lekker👌 toen kwamen onze voorgerechten de mixed grills , het vlees had de perfecte garing en smaak was ook super voor elkaar met elkaar dikke 5 sterren waard ,de groente die erbij zaten waren ook perfect van smaak en gaarheid, dit wordt enorm gewaardeerd , bediening erg vriendelijk en weten wat ze doen ook dikke 5 sterren! Dus een echte aanrader en we komen zeer zeker vaker terug

Voorgerecht trio van vis was heerlijk. Op het hoofdgerecht hebben we erg lang moeten wachten. We kregen de borden voorzien van groenten ruim van te voren, één bord daarvan waren de groenten koud ,vervolgens kwamen de bijgerechten en een tijd later kwam pas de plank met de vleesgerechten. Hiervan was alleen de kip lekker. De rib eye was taai en pulled.... was niet te eten. Dit allemaal aangegeven bij de bediening, maar werd niets meegedaan. Helaas werd het volledige bedrag in rekening gebracht. Prijs, kwaliteit en kwantiteit staan niet in verhouding.
