Gewoan op 'e Dyk BBQ en Grill in Dokkum

Lovely setting and the staff are definitely helpful. We had a delicious schnitzel, and it delivers what the menu promises: simply good. However, it was so hot inside that we were constantly sweating. The air conditioning was broken and there weren't many windows for ventilation. A beautiful building with a characteristic facade. I made a pen and ink drawing. Almost at the end of the Eleven Cities bike tour, and I enjoyed it!

We had a wonderful meal at Gewoan op 'e dyk in Dokkum! Exactly as the menu says: simply a delicious plate full of flavorful food without any fuss. That's exactly what you get. We both had the mushroom stew as a starter and the veal steak with brie. The latter could have been a bit less well-done (for me), but perhaps I should have specified that when ordering (they often ask how you want it cooked, and that wasn't the case). Delicious side dishes, just the right amount. The cheesecake with ice cream and the warm apple pie were both also delicious. Comfortable, just as you'd expect. Friendly host/chef and waitress, welcoming and very casual, cozy. The building is beautiful and situated nicely on the water, and comfortably furnished.

Our meal that evening was simply terrible; we definitely won't be back. We reserved a table in advance but forgot to note it down. We ordered appetizers but forgot to serve them. We ordered a mixed grill for two—it didn't deserve the name.

A great location and a very dedicated team, with a long beer list (although the ones we wanted were unfortunately no longer available). The food was only partially convincing, particularly the French fries and the rather tough veal, which were less than satisfactory, in contrast to the very good tomato soup.

We had a lovely meal in the evening sun! The veal steak was deliciously tender, the only thing missing was a bit of gravy😉 the salad was also good as were the accompanying fries and red cabbage. For us a positive point if the dog is also welcome!

That anyone still wants to eat with these people. Only leave debts behind and do not stand behind their product. And the owner has strange hobbies. I would not introduce him to my child Stop how many people have been cheated by you and still. Not paying staff not paying people who do something for you but compensating them with food. That also the nice promo video of durk on the internet and himself explained to his staff that a complaint has been filed against him. Not fake news at all. They were not thrown out of the house in Sweden by the family for nothing. And when the teenager comes there they tell others to go back to the basement.. Do not pretend bigger than you do parents of staff have to collect the salary and then say the tax must still be deducted from net salary. Stop cheating. But that is difficult for you...

A lovely restaurant on the canal in Dokkum. A paradise for board game lovers. Dinner is served until 9 p.m., which was fine since we were arriving late. Friendly staff. The food was good and the portions were generous. There's a wide vegan selection.

The food was absolutely worthless and we reported this. Durk claimed that he makes everything himself. That is possible, but that does not mean that you can cook well. The mushroom sauce looked awful and tasted like paper pulp, the steak skewer was overcooked and tough. Both were not warm. The pitiful pile of lettuce had been thrown on the plate. The fries and apple sauce were good. Durk was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt, both faded and washed. When we entered, we had our doubts but we did not want to prejudge. In a corner were new rolls of wallpaper, a dog basket and there were spiders on the ceiling. It was a mess. The criticism we gave, Durk did not understand. We do not understand what the rating "best restaurant 2023/2024 in North-East Friesland" is based on. For Durk's telling response, go to the business's website.

Good no nonsense restaurant with a cheerful owner who only wants 1 thing for his customers, good food for a fair price. And if you stay for dinner afterwards there are a few hundred games in the back to keep the Kids or your wife and mother-in-law busy.

Family business. Insider tip. No fast food. Everything is fresh and homemade, even the fries! Salad, vegetables, soup. The chef cooks here himself, with passion. If you like delicious home-cooked meals and have some time to spare, this is the place for you. We come here again and again and always enjoy it. The photo shows a bread plank for two with a mini soup of the day. Absolutely delicious.

Very atmospheric restaurant. Bread with spreads was perfect, but the small glass of soup was lukewarm/cold and not tasty. We had a mixed grill for 2 people. According to the menu, this was a dish with 3 types of meat. We got 2 skewers and a piece of salmon. This was not mentioned when ordering. If you don't like fish and you only have 2 skewers, this is not generous. The meat was ok, but in combination with raw vegetables, carrots and fries we think € 49.95 for this dish is a lot. Also for the 2 types of meat instead of 3. We did not report this in the restaurant because everything was full and the only lady who was there was already very busy.

Our first experience with Dokkum! We enjoyed the hospitality and had a delicious meal. On our next visit we will bring Bossche bollen for Durk.

Service en entourage zijn oke, maar de porties ronduit benedenmaats. We hadden de mixed grill voor 4 personen (voor 90! euro) maar deze was qua hoeveelheid net toereikend voor twee personen. Redenatie van de kok: we doen een hoofdgerecht per persoon, voor een tweepersoons schotel krijg je drie gerechten. (Ofwel, als u met vier of meer bent; bestel dan twee keer de tweepersoons. Krijg je meer voor minder geld

Via social deal hier genoten van het 12-uurtje. Meer dan voldoende eten en ook nog een overheerlijke kop koffie erbij. Bediening was vriendelijk en vlot.

Just plain bad. Meat was tough and the sauce was indefinable. Waited a long time for our food and drinks, it would be better to hire some older staff. And finally the house dog at your table. If we had known this in advance we would not have gone. They also don't understand at all how they got this Google figure. I think there are a lot of fake people out there.

Received a warm and friendly welcome. Super nice owners/staff. Entourage really appealed to us. Great built-up wall with games that we gratefully used. The food was delicious. Nothing is too crazy. We enjoyed it immensely and recommend it to everyone.

Burger with cheese and egg?? Yes definitely! Great cheese sauce, a perfectly seasoned and finally not wafer-thin patty and a fried egg on top - absolute recommendation! If you like, you can try one of the 30 types of beer (or several 😉) Also very friendly and fast service and a great view of the canal.

We had two cheesy burgers (1x normal, 1x children's menu) and a Hawaiian schnitzel. Service was unfriendly and obviously didn't want to work, and after serving, they couldn't be found anymore. The burger meat was raw in the middle and the bun was very hard. The children's burger had a normal bun torn off the sides and served like that...The schnitzel was an impertinence and could easily be compared to the sole of a shoe. The nut muffin that we also ordered was actually a blueberry muffin...The price for it was very steep. I can't understand the good recessions.

We had veal schnitzel with pepper and mushroom sauce. Half a veal schnitzel was served for two people. The mushroom sauce was an imposition. A canned mushroom cut up into a cheap roux. The price for this was already steep. I can't understand the good recessions. At least the fries were tasty.

Cozy homely restaurant in a beautiful building. Beautiful terrace on the canal in the middle of Dokkum. There are many games inside to play. Dishes are well prepared, no fuss! Toilets are clean with all kinds of personal hygiene products to use. The owner's dog is a friendly guest who has his place (on a leash) in the restaurant.

Just ended up here during a walk: what a nice surprise! Delicious cappuccino and a bowl of bitterballen. Games on the table invited a spicy game of pimpampet. Toilets are spotless and tidy with the option to freshen up (deodorant and hygiene products). Very hospitable and cordial host and hostess.

What a cozy and delicious place to eat! Nice menu with tasty dishes. That combined with a super hospitable team makes you feel very welcome. Definitely worth it!

Just a super cozy restaurant with friends, owners and good food

Cozy place in a beautiful location with a view of the water. The food is delicious. They have an extensive menu for food, beer, coffee and chocolate. We'll be going back soon.

In November 2023, during the Sinterklaas arrival, we enjoyed lunch via Social Deal. We arrived on our bikes, and it was pouring rain. The extremely friendly service immediately provided us with a tea towel to dry our faces. Top! The lunch was extensive and delicious. The service is very friendly and easy to contact. Beautiful location in the center of Dokkum, almost on the water. We highly recommend this address and would love to return.

Atmosphere was good and the service was friendly, but it took a very long time before the food was served and portions were simple with only carrots as vegetables and the hamburger with cheese sauce was just that, so it was not a taste sensation. Great restaurant, right on the water. There are almost 200 board games there. Great beers, also a menu of local varieties. We had various schnitzels, these are freshly made. You will be asked whether it is veal, pork or chicken. Very tender and delicious, we can only recommend it. There was a small gift with the children's plate. The cheeseburger is prepared with homemade cheese sauce. When we are in the area again we will come back.

The two of us went here and immediately received a warm welcome. We immediately felt welcome because of the genuine friendliness. I had a capachino with a hazelnut liqueur and my partner a forest fruit tea. There was a wide variety of liqueurs and teas in jars. We received honey and brown sugar cubes and a special cookie per person. The sandwiches were really fresh and well topped with an egg that was still a bit runny with a slice of ham and curly lettuce. A pan of French onion soup. And a croquette sandwich with mustard and curly lettuce. The coffee machine acted a bit strangely, causing my quite large glass to be 3 quarters full. She immediately said that I would get a new one for free. And my partner got a free tea... which was also a large glass. We regularly go to these types of trips, but we have never had such quality for this price before. Nice atmosphere and friendly people.. by the way, dogs are also welcome.. On the table was a jar with question cards, very nice.. If you have children, there is a huge cupboard filled with games for entertainment..

We went yesterday on spec. Despite the understaffing and the unusual course of the evening, we had a delicious meal at the tasting. This was prepared spontaneously for us and is highly recommended. Enjoy playing games with the family while you wait for your food. Reservations in advance are advisable.

What a great restaurant this is! A beautiful place in the center of Dokkum. The restaurant was completely full, but nevertheless the service was fast and very friendly. A very cozy restaurant with a homely atmosphere. Had a delicious meal on Christmas Day, as a starter a delicious soup with real fresh bread and served in a beautiful soup pan, the main course was a delicious tender burger 🍔 served with delicious fries and a parsnip in sugar and cinnamon (pleasant surprise). Dessert was a delicious Dame Blanche! Delicious food for a great price.

Very tasty meal on Christmas Day. Adding an extra person to the table at the last minute was no problem. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was very nicely decorated with Christmas decorations. Also very suitable if you are mildly autistic because it does not feel like going to some fancy dining establishments, but rather like visiting friends and then relaxing by playing games and cuddling with dog Alaska. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, "normal" but with an extra touch to the dishes!

Lekker, eerlijk eten in een gemoedelijke huislijke sfeer. Bediening was zeer vriendelijk en ook de kok kwam langs om te informeren of alles naar wens was. Mooie keus uit streek bieren.

Knus etablissement met n top bediening en een geweldige man achter het fornuis. Heerlijk gegeten en gezellig gezeten. Aanrader!

We lopen er regelmatig langs en gisteravond hebben we er gegeten. Zeer vriendelijk en een mooie kaart. De schnitzel is nog een echte schnitzel en echt smakelijk! De pastinaak met kaneel en suiker was een aangename verrassing. Onze zoon was helemaal enthousiast en blij met het eten en de spelletjes die er waren! Bedankt voor de gastvrijheid en tot ziens!
