Cozy restaurant and the best pizza I've ever eaten. Also very unique and very flavorful starters and desserts. Works of art in themselves. Service could be a bit better in terms of friendliness, but perhaps that is typical Twente down-to-earthness. Highly recommended!

The tastiest pizza in the Netherlands that you can't order. The waitress, the oldest member of the entire team, wasn't exactly hospitable. It wasn't right that we didn't know what we wanted to drink yet; the atmosphere was set immediately. It also seemed like it bothered her that we didn't order a starter. And she was completely curt when I wanted to order their winning pizza (tastiest in the Netherlands in 2025). Her answer, utterly astonished, was: "That hasn't been on the menu for two years." The second drink I ordered wasn't even brought. It was Saturday night and the place was 1/3 full, so that can't be the reason. The pizza itself was fine, but that is mainly due to the crust, not what was on it. They spend a lot of time on the dough, and you can taste it.

Always a cozy restaurant with a beautiful terrace. The pizzas are very well topped and taste amazing. The Nettuno pizza is highly recommended, which is topped with salmon, tuna, prawns, and anchovies, among other things. We were served in a friendly manner. It was busy. Despite our reservation, we had to wait a while before we could order and our food finally arrived. On Wednesdays, all pizzas are 10 euros and still very well topped.

We had a very good meal. The lasagna was very good and more than enough. To finish, the tasting platter for two was also delicious.

To be fair, the pizzas are fantastic. And that is about all there is to say. We were not greeted very kindly and escorted to our table. After that, we sat waiting for 12 minutes before our drinks order was taken. That is a real no-go! One minute longer and we would have left. The pizzas, however, were brought lightning fast once we had made our choice. It was very busy, Wednesday pizza day, and next to us sat two ladies who spent more time talking than eating. That constant chatter next to you drives you crazy too. The ordered espresso also took a very long time and had already been ready on the machine because it was lukewarm. All in all, not a top-notch experience and certainly not worth repeating.

It is a beautiful place with beautiful food, but everything lacks flavor. The pasta, the pizza, and the dessert were all bland. It wasn't disgusting, but very flat. The acoustics were terrible, causing the noise to be enormous. A one-time visit for us!

What amazing pizzas were available today! Each pizza was €10. The Neapolitan pizza was simply delicious, and the appetizers are highly recommended too!!

Nice and cozy restaurant, good food and excellent staff

We visited Il Municipio on a Wednesday in January. The restaurant is located in the Hotel "De Schout," and there's plenty of parking. Reserving a table was easy via their website. The decor is modern, and the staff is very friendly. Wednesdays are pizza day, with every pizza costing €10.00. Otherwise, some pizzas cost over €20.00. The restaurant has won awards; for example, their "l'Italia incontra Twente" pizza was voted the best pizza in the Netherlands in 2025. This pizza isn't on the regular menu; it's advertised separately and is truly excellent. What we didn't like so much: where we sat, it wasn't particularly warm and was a bit drafty, so we kept our jackets on. It was cold outside, and the hallway leading to the restrooms and the restrooms themselves weren't heated.

We enjoyed a lovely evening and fantastic pizza. How nice it is to eat truly good Italian pizza in your own village.

I just wanted to give it 5 stars. I've been to Italy or the Italian islands many times. The pizzas at Il Municipio are of such high quality, an explosion of flavor!!! Amazing. They can hold their own against any of the pizzerias in La Bella Italia. I haven't been disappointed once so far. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the music is from the 80s... See you next time.

A top-notch pizza restaurant where you wouldn't expect it, as it's located in a hotel. The pizzas... simply superb! They have many different types of pizzas with seemingly "strange" flavor combinations, but although it may sound strange, it's definitely worth trying these unique, yet incredibly tasty pizzas. They truly have the best pizza in the Netherlands! Besides top-notch pizzas, the pasta dishes are also highly recommended. We've been converted and are happy to drive 40 minutes just to eat here. The price? Fair? Actually, too low for the quality and quantity of food you get, but this way it remains affordable for everyone. On Wednesdays, they have a €10 pizza day, with all pizzas for €10 each. The staff is very friendly and offers excellent advice, for example, about the different sauces for the pasta. In short: don't hesitate, eat here and enjoy yourself; you're guaranteed to come back again.

Lots of comments about the hostess here, but we didn't notice any of that. We had a delicious tasting. The service and atmosphere were excellent.

The food is very good. The pizza is truly delicious. The hostess is quite friendly, but when it's busy, she can't do everything herself. When serving, she wants to do everything herself and doesn't delegate much to other friendly staff. This means you sometimes have to wait a long time for your food or a second drink. The busier it gets, the less friendly the hostess becomes.

The staff was very curt, bordering on rude. We felt completely unwelcome.

We were really looking forward to it. Enjoying a lovely meal out with the four of us during our three weeks near Denekamp, and to a restaurant that had won the 2023 Dutch National Pizza Baking Championships. The welcome wasn't exactly warm. We were ushered to our seats, and one of my sons, a highly sensitive person, remarked that the woman who greeted us didn't seem particularly enthusiastic. The same went for taking our order: little interaction, curt, and little eye contact. The young man who brought the drinks made up for it somewhat, cheerful, lively, and with a sense of humor. The pizzas are quite okay. A bit "Crosta Mollica-esque," comparable to the high-quality versions of factory-made pizzas from the supermarket. The dough resembles bread and has a bit of a springiness. But we also tasted too much salt. Still: perfectly baked and not burnt. But in my opinion, they lack the crispy, airy texture that a quality Italian pizza should have. Anything else to complain about? Yes... I still believe: basil should be a standard ingredient on a Pizza Margherita. The Tricolore, the colors of the Italian flag, in this pizza have both symbolic and culinary significance: history and flavor come together. Red in the sauce, white in the mozzarella, and green in the basil. I don't understand why you have to order these separately. The desserts (we didn't order an appetizer) were good. Flavorful tiramisu and tartufo nero, again delivered with verve by the young man. In short: good pizzas, but nothing spectacular (tastes differ, of course), and, in our opinion, good desserts. It's a shame about the somewhat cold reception. We noticed that other people, apparently known to the hostess, were given a more warm welcome. Which made us feel even more like tourists. Temporary passers-by, with a running wallet. To quote Mr. Reimers: “Genuine hospitality sells.”

Note that the appetizer portions are more than ample; it might be more fun to share something than each have their own entree. And the award-winning pizza isn't even on the menu if that's what you're after. I personally thought the "black" pasta stood out more than the pizza. The pizzas without tomatoes are also nice, allowing those who don't like tomatoes to experience a good pizza!

We ordered Spaghetti Bolenese. She asked if we wanted a large or a small plate. We said large because we were all very hungry. We got a large plate with a small amount of spaghetti. I thought a large plate meant more spaghetti, no salad, nothing. After that, we went somewhere else to order pizza. Never again!

Unfortunately, for the second time, we were received very unfriendly by the lady head of service. She was unhelpful and unwilling, almost rude. There was no table free for us, so with great difficulty we were allowed to take a pizza with us. The takeaway menu was thrown into our hands and almost fell to the floor. We couldn't even manage a smile. The rest of the staff seemed friendly. If the pizzas weren't so delicious, we would never come here again.

Despite having an order of 20 pizzas the quality was good. Unfortunately we could only place 10 per order but the staff did everything to get it ready as soon as possible.

Intimate and welcoming atmosphere, kind waitresses and above all delicious pizza, I recommend it to my compatriots! ♥️

Super tasty food, nice atmosphere. Definitely recommended!

End of the afternoon around 16:00 wanted to eat pizza here with my family. On the website and on the sign on the terrace it also said open from 16:00. When we wanted to sit on the terrace we were grumpily addressed by a blonde young lady that they were only open from 17:00. We had to sit on the terrace with a drink and wait. Because of her attitude and way of communicating with us, we resolutely turned around and looked for another restaurant in the area. They will never see us here again.

An unexpected evening for two and we booked here on the recommendation of family. Reservations on the day itself were still possible, although not until later in the evening. We had a delicious meal; the pizzas are of high quality and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. We would have liked to taste the tiramisu, but unfortunately it was sold out by the end of the day. We will be back soon - hopefully with tiramisu!

Ordered some pasta. This one arrived, undercooked, and cold. More cheese was added but no contact was made with the staff. And my +1 got my pasta in the same portion as a side dish. He then paid +- 20 euros for meat and 2 side dishes and I paid 12 euros for the pasta which he already had as a side dish. Special. This is 3 out of 3 times that it was not to your liking. Other than that it was fine

Ordered the menu for 2 people and unfortunately we didn't get enough. Not recommended The food was still good but not outstanding. Reordered drinks were not brought.

Starter was good and a nice portion. The pizzas are authentically Neapolitan, with a well-developed dough that has real character. Richly topped and the flavors complimented each other. After these delicious two courses I was severely disappointed by the dessert "tartufo al pistacchio". The ice cream was tasteless and a pistachio flavor was barely recognizable in the toppings. I know what really good pistachio ice cream tastes like, but this didn't even come close. It's a shame that I spent almost €10 on that, it doesn't feel good. I regret not choosing the tiramisu... I didn't dare to send it back and ask for another dessert, afraid of double the costs. The staff is friendly, but not that flexible. Actually every request is answered with "no". The restaurant itself is very atmospheric with Italian music in the background and is located in a nice hotel lobby.

This was truly great pizza as it should be. Knead into shape by hand. Pure Italy. The Margarita was virtually original. We also tried the winners pizza: L'Italia incontra Twente with ham and gorgonzola and Parmesan cheese with stewed pears. It shouldn't work (we love our classics!) but the combination was really completely balanced.

We had the surprise menu but were not pleasantly surprised at all. The food was not very tasty and very meager portions. Price quality is hard to find. Next time just 10 km further to a real pizzeria in Oldenzaal

Extremely tasty and well-filled pizzas, ready while you wait

I had the third and final course of the waljing menu atIl Municipio. As this is an Italian restaurant, it was no surprise to be served Tiramisu. This was really petfect, and also a very large portion. Amd if that weren't enough, 2 additional sweets were added to make it all complete. All in all, this 3 course walking menu is highly recommended.

We ate delicious pizza and tiramisu at this restaurant during our holiday. Pizza has a delicious thin base, as it should be. Well invested. Tiramisu is really great. We will definitely come back here. Even from our hometown, it's a 1-hour drive

To end our holiday, we wanted to go to the pizzeria in our own village, partly in the hope that we would find a new regular pizzeria. The reception was not great (but still understandable given the low number of guests); we could choose a table ourselves. The service wasn't great either (she seemed rather disinterested to us). In our opinion, it took quite a while for the starter to arrive and the pizzas also took quite a while to arrive (something had gone wrong during the preparation of the Pizza Denekamp). The pizzas didn't taste bad, but not very special either. The prices are striking (€22 for a salmon pizza is a bit of a pill to swallow) and for spicy spianata instead of regular salami the 'normal' charge is €3.50. We especially think the price:quality ratio is not okay. Our search for a good pizzeria in the area that is comparable to la Fontanella in Oldenzaal (we have been going there for more than 30 years) continues 😕

We had a delicious meal here. We had a tuna pizza and a 4 seasons pizza, both very tasty. The lady at the counter knew how to handle things. The desserts were also delicious!

Enjoyed a 3-course surprise menu on the terrace, in a Mediterranean atmosphere, as a h/p guest of hotel De Schout. It was, in one word: fantastic! Literally surprising, truly Italian and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Folks, what a find in Denekamp! Coincidentally, this restaurant belongs to the collaboration group of our hotel (De Schout), but without that we would have walked in spontaneously. Everything is correct. Interior, menu but also enthusiastic and friendly service. But then the food! We have been there a few times this 1.5 weeks. The tip: the bolognese sauce! For me with a small portion of spaghetti. Absolutely great.

Had a delicious meal here! Beautifully decorated, spacious Italian restaurant with clearly an Italian chef at the helm. Quality ingredients, the mozzarella for example does not come from the supermarket, the pizza dough is fresh and tasty, well risen and cooked. Delicious freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano and a balsamic vinegar to die for. In short, we didn't leave a crumb behind 🙂 Employees are very friendly, hospitable and quick service. The restaurant is clean from top to bottom. Nice music too, we enjoyed it. The seats are comfortable and there is free parking nearby. We will definitely come back, compliments!

Top pizzas and cheerful, friendly service

Just picked up 1 children's spaghetti, 1 calzone and 1 Denekamp pizza. Paid 48 euros for this. The dough of the Denekamp pizza was burnt black, was lukewarm and limp. By the way, it was well filled. This was not the case with the calzone. More dough than filling and also limp and lukewarm. And the Ragu bolognese was very basic in terms of ingredients. And also lukewarm. It was not busy and I had to wait for the order. So it's not like the food was lukewarm because it was already ready. Ordered something here once.

A beautiful restaurant with an interesting interior. A fireplace, candles, draped suspended ceiling, cozy corners and imitation frescoes on the walls give it a unique flavor. Delicious wood-fired pizza, interesting presentation of fish dishes. The service amazed me. Despite all the complaints about the specifics of unhurried service in the Netherlands, I have never seen anything like this... Not a very approachable waitress at all. At first I tried to explain to her the usefulness of my photos for the restaurant. Reactions - zero. Ok, I asked her in Dutch if we could speak English. She didn't answer either. I felt invisible. Not a single smile or joke during the evening (we had a family party for 11 people). At the end I asked for a lunch box, I wanted to take half of the expensive pizza (18.5 €). She promised to bring it, but in the end I wrapped the pizza in a napkin. The restaurant is cozy, the pizza is cooked on wood, I recommend visiting it. You may have better luck with service. However, no one except me paid attention to this - we had fun together :)

Absolutely recommended! This chef really knows what he is doing. You can taste the authentic taste! Sooooo delicious that we ate everything from the tasting! And service also matters, because the hostess was very pleasant and genuinely interested! In short, this is where you have to go!!!

This Italian is highly recommended! Authentic Italian dishes. Had delicious pizza. The pizza with gorgonzola, parma ham and stewed pear is a winner! Roberta is a top hostess.

Picked up 2 pizzas from this Italian. One, a pizza tonno was blackened and the other, salami, was a pizza with ham. My son went back for salami, but they claim high and low that this is really salami. I think Pinoccio also came from Italy. See for yourself!

Delicious food. Chef's menu is highly recommended! My pregnancy was well taken into account. The 2 ladies serving were great, you don't see that very often anymore!!! We will definitely come back.

Weinig keus als je geen pizza of pasta wil eten. Laat op de avond, na het diner kon er geen thee meer besteld worden. Omdat "de machine" al schoongemaakt was ???? Hoe zo, hebben jullie dan geen waterkoker? Ik had er meer van verwacht. Jammer.

Leuk Italiaans restaurant midden in Denekamp met zowaar een Italiaanse eigenaar. Lekkere pizza gegeten, de wijn was heerlijk! Personeel bijzonder vriendelijk.

Pizza Romana is een aanrader. Lekker pizzas, leuk om even met de kinderen bij een "echt" restaurant te eten. Service is goed, personeel vriendelijk.

Wir haben hier bei tollem Ambiente eine grandios leckere Pizza gegessen und dazu einen wohltemperierten Wein genossen. Der Service war gut, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war okay.

Super leckere Pizza und Süßkartoffel-Gnocchi gegessen und zum Nachtisch einen Tartufo bianco geteilt, sehr zu empfehlen! Die 3,8 * sind unserer Meinung nach nicht gerechtfertigt.

Vanavond eten afgehaald bij il Municipio. Ik had een pasta met gambas besteld welke verse basilicum en een lekkere roomsaus er over zou moeten hebben. Saus was amper aanwezig en er zaten een drietal verschrompelde basilicum blaadjes in. De geur die me tegemoet kwam was zo overweldigend, en helaas op een slechte manier. De foto van het gerecht spreekt voor zichzelf

Meerdere keren ter plaatste gegeten en afgehaald. Heerlijk gegeten (verse producten) en super vriendelijk personeel!

We hebben heerlijk gegeten en de bediening was top en ontzettend vriendelijk.

Corona bier 2 maanden over datum gekregen. Pasta niet gaar genoeg wit van de binnen kant. (Lange wachttijd gehad.

Leuk personeel en heeeeerlijk gegeten. Alles vers en een uitstekende kwaliteit/prijs verhouding. Ook de toetjes waren verrukkelijk. Betaalbare prijzen, beter dan de buren, die ook bij dit hotel horen,want daar zijn de prijzen torenhoog.
