Ristorante Isolani in Wijk 00 Waalwijk

We heard many positive stories about Isolani, but unfortunately, our experience wasn't good! First of all, I just wanted to order a lasagna. A fairly normal dish to have in an Italian restaurant. But the waiter indicated that they were out of lasagna. Okay, that happens. Fine. Luckily, I had a backup plan: ravioli. Just regular ravioli, as stated on the menu. But no, unfortunately, no ravioli left either! Oh well. Then there wasn't much left that I really like, except for pasta with salmon. The menu said it was tagliatelle. I really don't like eating tagliatelle, so I asked if I could get that dish, but with spaghetti instead. The waiter went to check, but no: spaghetti with salmon wasn't allowed! Huh?? Is there some strict Italian in the kitchen there protecting Italian cuisine like a dictator at the expense of customer service or the taste of others??? I was quite surprised. Anyway, no pasta then. My mother and sister had both ordered the pasta carbonara, but neither of them could finish it because of the endless amount of pepper in it. I took a bite too, and immediately spat out two chunks of black pepper. You tasted nothing but the pepper. Very nasty. We pointed it out, but were only told that the pancetta is naturally covered in pepper and that they just throw some extra pepper in there as well (?). Uh, fine! Maybe it would be handy to just have a salt and pepper shaker on the table so you can decide for yourself how much you want? It was a bad experience. We also call it the "pepper experience". We did have a laugh, but we won't be coming back here.

We had a delicious meal for two at a table under the olive tree. Delicious appetizer platter for two. Definitely worth repeating. FANTASTIC.

A real Italian restaurant. The food is always delicious! Don't forget to order a starter: bruschetta, the carpaccio, vitello… delicious! Sometimes not everything on the menu is available, but that is probably because everything is prepared fresh and that takes time. The service is always friendly. Sometimes young staff, but well-trained.

A pleasant restaurant to visit. After a long and tiring day in Efteling, we decided to go here. Firstly, the restaurant is located near a parking space, so it's convenient to just your vehicle there. Secondly, the restaurant looks really neat and cozy with a high ceiling. Everything looks clean including their restrooms. Thirdly, their foods are amazing 👏 From their main dishes to their desserts, they taste really great. Lastly I believe with the quality you received, their prices are relatively cheap. For 7 people, we spent roughly 250 and this already include some of appetisers, main dishes, drinks and desserts. So, if you think about eating somewhere in this area, this restaurant is truly recommended 👌

We had a delicious meal last night. I did notice, however, that the wait staff clears your plate just as you put down your cutlery. The atmosphere was good in itself, but it would be a bit cozier if the empty window frames were decorated with, for example, Southern European plants.

Nice restaurant, perfect service, delicious food

I have been dining at this restaurant for years and I am always very satisfied. The food is delicious, but what really makes this restaurant special is the warm and personal service. Two employees, Giovanni and Rita, are truly amazing. They are always incredibly friendly, caring, and attentive. Thanks to them, I always feel very welcome and appreciated, almost as if I were family. The service is truly a 10. Even if I order a little too much, they ask me if it isn't too much. That shows that they genuinely care about my well-being and aren't just trying to sell. Giovanni and Rita are fantastic people, and it is a pleasure to come and eat here every time. I therefore highly recommend this restaurant.

We dined here with two adults and two children after a day at Efteling and were pleasantly surprised. The friendly and good service was really noticeable. We had a delicious meal, and the price-quality ratio was excellent. The online photos don't do the restaurant justice; it's much more atmospheric in person than it appears. We would definitely return if we're ever in the area again.

We had a bite to eat here after a day at Efteling. The food was delicious and the service was excellent for a reasonable price. The young lady who served us didn't have to ask which of the eight of us had ordered what when she was serving; she still remembered exactly. That's not always the case these days, so I have to compliment her on the service.

A group of 10. We wanted to start with the antipasto platter. That was possible, but it would take 40 minutes. We decided to just have the meat and cheese platter. That would be quick. We were asked if we wanted a baguette while we waited. Then it started. We had to wait 20 minutes for the baguette. Then another wait for the meat and cheese platter. The main course took forever. After asking how much longer it would take, we were told the grill hadn't heated up yet. Unbelievable. It would take another 15 minutes. After waiting almost two hours, the main course arrived. The meat turned out to be well-done instead of medium rare. What a disappointment, so we sent it back. However, the chef refused to accept this. The atmosphere changed. He even called the police because, after returning the meat, we said we wouldn't pay for it. He couldn't and wouldn't argue with them. The police, of course, said they weren't there for that. The atmosphere was ruined, people were crying at the table, and the food tasted awful. Terrible. The waitress couldn't do anything about it, but she had to fix it. The owner was nowhere to be seen. 2 uur gewacht op het eten. Vlees was vervolgens doorbakken ipv medium rare. Chef was er niet op aanspreekbaar en belde zelfs de politie. Nog nooit zoiets meegemaakt.

We moesten 2 uur wachten tot we het eten kregen, de kok heeft toen ook de politie 👮 op ons gebeld toen we (gecontroleerd) boos werden. Nadat we een steek kregen die de ver gebakken was en toen ze wouden dat we nog 20 min gingen wachten. De bediening was wel vriendelijk maar werden wel als communicatie gebruikt door de kok terwijl dat eigenlijk best zielig is voor de bediening. (Don't shoot the messenger)

I also think it's quite reasonable that we didn't pay for something we didn't receive (the steak that wasn't right was returned, and we didn't want to wait another 20 minutes, so we didn't order it). There are also plenty of other things in the owner's response that are incorrect, such as the times. It's also never mentioned that the chef(s) themselves didn't stay calm at all, and that we were calmer than them. All in all, there are plenty of things the owner doesn't mention or gloss over.

First of all, we were able to order almost immediately, but our food didn't arrive until two hours later. We complained about it, but they weren't very receptive. We received our food and discovered that the ribeye was undercooked, which, of course, wasn't what we asked for. We then walked back in, and the staff (not the waitresses) couldn't stand it at all. They thought we'd said everything wrong and wouldn't let us finish what we wanted to explain to them. They even called the police on us. Of course, they didn't call, so they didn't. It was a terrible experience! The pizza crust was so thin and soggy that it tasted like a pancake. We'll never go back! The staff (except for the two waitresses) couldn't stand anything, especially the chef—terrible!

We ate at Isolani tonight. The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the atmosphere was spoiled for us when a group of 10 people were unhappy with the wait time for their meal. This escalated somewhat, and we saw several members of the group sitting at the table in tears. We don't think that's the way to go about a pleasant evening out, and we were very surprised that the chef dismissed these people in this way. Of course, we don't know what was said in the discussion, but it didn't demonstrate good hospitality, and for us, the atmosphere was truly ruined. It was a real shame, especially for the young waitresses who were among them.

Tonight, as always, we had a delicious meal at Isolani. Incredibly warm service and wonderful traditional flavors. Unfortunately, the atmosphere in the restaurant was ruined by a woman from a party of 10. She immediately threatened not to pay the bill because of the "long wait" and a steak that wasn't "medium rare." Regardless of how she felt about it, which I can't judge, this woman's behavior was downright antisocial. She ruined not only the evening for her family, but also for the entire restaurant. I've always found at Isolani that they want the best for the customer, and if something doesn't meet expectations, they always try to resolve it. If you immediately indicate that you don't want to pay the entire bill, you throw all possible solutions in the trash. Very annoying and a waste of the restaurant's atmosphere.

The response to this review perfectly illustrates how the restaurant treats customers. We arrived at 6:10 PM and had to wait two hours for our food. We never indicated that we didn't want to pay for the entire order; we only complained about the well-done steak, but unfortunately, the chef wouldn't listen and had already called the police. Furthermore, we had made the reservation a long time ago, so the restaurant knew a large group was coming. Original review: Waited two hours for our food. The meat was well-done instead of medium rare. The chef was extremely rude and threatened to call the police if we confronted them about it, and then did so. I've never experienced anything like this before.

2 times ate in this restaurant and 3 times take away. The food is tasty and pizze is good. I would like to see la Genovese on the menu or other local specialties but that is personal. I will definitely come back!

Good Italian food... courteous service... maybe a little slow but it's still good for those who are abroad and want to eat good Italian food! Recommended!

Ordinary restaurant. Very simple decor. Average food. Average service. You can order a main course without a starter, but the restaurant doesn't want customers to order a starter alone if they don't order a main course afterward!!! This absurd rule appears nowhere on the menu or anywhere else in the restaurant. As a result, if a customer is a little hungry and a starter would be enough, they're forced to order a main course, a larger portion, which they certainly won't finish, and part of it will end up in the trash!!! Ridiculous...

After Efteling we went with 2 families, 8 people in total. We arrived at 20PM, only 3 other tables ware taken. They advised us directly kitchen closes at 21 and meat takes 30’. Only pizza and pasta took also 45’…Distant service, poor flavours (pizza & pasta) We will not return, simply not good enough…

An Italian Restaurant where an Italian would say: "come a casa"!

Top Italian, with delicious dishes in addition to pizza and pasta

Eten was prima, maar bediening erg slecht! We vroegen om 3 gangen, dit was niet mogelijk omdat het druk was bij de afhaal?? Ook kregen we de rekening om 21.15, ze gingen sluiten. We waren er pas om 19.00 dus al met al een hele slechte ervaring, zou er nooit meer heen gaan.

Quatro formagio was erg dunne saus en zeer flauw. Zelfs maggi kon het niet redden. Smaakloos. Macaroni gratinatta idem. Niks pittige saus. Zeer vlakke smaak. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Over het eten geen negatief oordeel, maar de bediening is nog steeds beneden peil. Vandaag waren we blijkbaar 20 minuten te vroeg in het restaurant (volgens Google was openingstijd 16.00 uur!) Geen probleem zou je denken, we zoeken een leuk tafeltje en bestellen alvast een drankje. Maar dat kon niet volgens de eigenaar (?) personeel moest nog binnenkomen, wij zagen trouwens genoeg personeel rondlopen. Vervolgens lekker gegeten, maar het personeel is een afknapper: ongastvrij, ongeïnteresseerd en je wordt niet gezien als gast. Tot slot krijgen we een foutieve bon, er wordt 30 euro teveel berekend, maar excuses worden er niet gemaakt. Helaas niet onze eerste ervaring met het onvriendelijke personeel van deze zaak, voortaan alleen afhalen.

We arrived a little late because we had had a day at Efteling, we were still looking for a restaurant, we hadn't reserved anything yet. We called and were able to come straight away. When we got there it looked very good. It was quiet. The food came very quickly and was delicious too! They were very hospitable and I had a pleasant experience. After a day at Efteling I would like to come back here to eat. Definitely recommended!

Cozy place, friendly staff, great pizzas! Their bruschetta was awesome too. The menu had a good selection of pastas and other things apart from pizzas too.

In Holland for work, after 3 "Dutch" dinners we looked for "familiar" flavors and atmospheres; we found them at the Isolani restaurant. And the authentic surprise lies in the excellent quality of the products underlying each dish. The staff is attentive and maintains an Italian spirit which, as we have learned, also seduces the Dutch. Highly recommended.

Too bad we couldn't put together a children's dish ourselves. But then we had a delicious meal, good cuisine, both meat dish and pasta were great!

Drukke Vrijdagavond, trage bediening, de gerechten waren al lauw bij het serveren. De kwaliteit was middelmatig. De bediening wist niet welke de huiswijn was of wat een Nero d”avola betekende. Erg jammer, we komen dus echt niet terug. Doe daar wat aan Team Isolani. In het verleden hebben we beter bij jullie gedineerd. Horen graag welke acties jullie voor verbetering gaan ondernemen

A fantastic little find! Felt genuinely Italian, food was unbelievably good, even down to the quality of the bread and oil. Service was fantastic, they made every effort to make you feel welcome and enjoy the meal. Extremely family welcoming. We were there with a 7yr old and a 6 month old and they were just delighted to see us. The atmosphere was really nice, clean and comfortable. There is a parking lot round the back, paid, but costs nearly nothing, something like 10c a hour. I know most places in Holland are willing to speak English, but it always worth noting when somewhere is happy to and very capable. I can be a little brutal at times, but I only have good things to say about this place, I'd be back in a heartbeat!

We have enjoyed coming to Isolani for years. The food and service have always been top notch, but the last few times we have been less enthusiastic. In our opinion, the quality of the food has deteriorated. Our daughter didn't even want to eat her favorite food (pasta carbonara). For these prices you can expect more. In addition, it was far too cold in the restaurant and it took a very long time before the food was served. Unfortunately, there are some downsides that I think can be easily resolved.

Good food, good atmosphere, good service

The two of us had dinner at Isolani on a Saturday evening. Upon entering we were kindly received and guided to our table. As an aperitif, my group had a glass of prosecco: it was delicious. I ordered an aperol spritz myself. This was prepared by the people themselves and was not too sweet, not too strong and subtle in taste. Sometimes you get 'ready-made' aperol spritz at other restaurants, but that can't compete with the spritz I got. We then started with the bruschetta, a kind of toasted bread with tomato and herbs. This was very tasty: the tomatoes were very tasty: fresh, juicy and had a lot of flavor. The hostess told us that the bread is made by the chefs themselves and that they do this every day. As a starter we had the salad with octopus. The octopus was super fresh and we tasted that. The salad had a fresh dressing that was not too overpowering. The flavors were nicely round. As a main course we had the large shrimps from the grill and some grilled vegetables. The taste of the shrimp was great! These were on a bed of fennel and this one was also very fresh. The grilled vegetables had a subtle flavor and were well grilled: not drowned in a layer of sauce or oil. The service was very professional and very friendly. The waiter had no problem answering our questions, even if this required inquiring in the kitchen. This restaurant is an absolute winner for those who love good Italian food. We will definitely come back!!

Wat een lastige mensen, het begon al bij de keuze, het moet en het zal zonder flexibiliteit van de kaart gaan. Wat lekkers voor 1 persoon? Niet mogelijk, ossenhaas maar dan wat extra spagetti erbij ipv “hollandse” aardappels? Niet mogelijk. Vanaf 18 uur waren wij binnen voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht zonder ijs of koffie 22:15 waren we buiten!!! Eten lauw, klaar slagroom met roomsausjes en echt zeer onvriendelijke bediening. Dan nog een rekening van € 175 om de avond compleet te verknallen en op naar huis! Schandalig slecht!

Excellent food. Very customer friendly. Very tasty pizza and pasta dishes. At first it seemed as if they were in need of some help in the service, but we were still served excellently and quickly. The children also really enjoyed it. The red house wine was remarkably good! The acoustics were a bit poorer on this busy evening, which is still an area for improvement ;)

Nice thing. The site indicates that you must indicate upon entry that you are coming for a theater menu. However, it was said at the table that you must do this when making a reservation! An annoying discussion then arises, which immediately affects the atmosphere. Not a nice experience because afterwards it turned out that nothing was wrong because it was simply possible. It was also not nice that when we moved the curtain slightly so that a table companion was not sitting in the sun, someone immediately came to us and said that this was not possible because it was stuck. It was not stuck which it shifted without any problems. We were helped by two young people who clearly had very little experience but did their best. The food and house wine were excellent. The advice is to be a bit more customer friendly.

Picked up pizzas. I was there at the stated time (45 minutes after ordering) and then had to wait more than 10 minutes for the pizzas. They forgot the cheese on 2 pizzas. Pizzas tasted good. Edit after owner's response: order was placed on Saturday 11-02-23. The pizzas that had no cheese on them were the vegetariana and sfizioza (gorgonzola was missing).

Great place, I have never eaten such delicious Italian food in the Netherlands. This restaurant has nice staff, a good chef and a nice looking dinner room. The pizza is great, and so are the lasagna and starters. In short, a great experience and would recommend it to everyone.
