Ristorante Pizzeria Paolo in Wijk 01 Heerenveen

I ate here with three friends. The pizzas were nice and hot and delicious, which I love. I have had better tiramisu elsewhere; I do like a thick layer of mascarpone with lots of cocoa on top and some alcohol in it, which I missed here, as well as real thick whipped cream. This was cheap, thin whipped cream. All in all, a delicious meal, definitely worth repeating.

Good pizzas at a reasonable price. Pleasant service. The only point for improvement: the pick-up point is at the back of the restaurant. There were many takeaway customers, causing congestion around where other guests were seated at tables.

Paolo is always a good choice. The food is tasty, the service is good, and the atmosphere is nice. Paolo never disappoints.

We ate at Paolo's again after 2 years, and it was actually quite disappointing. It took a long time for both the food and drinks. We went inside 3 times; we were sitting outside to ask for drinks. After waiting an hour and a half, we finally got our main course. The pizza was undercooked and the ingredients were still lukewarm. The pasta, by the way, was fine. The starters are no longer comparable to how they used to be. Bread should be served with the starters, just like in the old days. Sweet brioche bread with a bread board? What is Italian about that? Work to be done...

The food tastes fine, but I ordered an Abondanza. It was divided into four parts: a quarter with mushrooms, a quarter with bell peppers, a quarter with 1 slice of ham and a small slice of bacon, and a quarter with 2 slices of salami and a very small slice of bacon, topped with a few pieces of pineapple. I expected meat on the pizza, sprinkled with bell peppers and mushrooms, and of course, pineapple. If you get a quarter with mushrooms and a quarter with only bell peppers, there is no flavor to it. These are vegetables that you add to something. So, all in all, no more Abondanza for me. It was €18.50; my partner's Fantasy was full of meat and was also €18.50. The waitress was instructed by the chef to inform me that the pizza was divided into seasons. If I had wanted that, I would have ordered the quattro, right? I really hope they do something about the pizza toppings; this is such a shame. Otherwise, the taste where the meat was was fine.

Ordering pizza for delivery is not only a total gamble, but calling to follow up is also accompanied by one excuse after another. With Pizzeria Paolo, Slecht has reached a whole new dimension.

Waited more than an hour for the food… pasta had a chemical aftertaste and the pizza was also sparsely topped. Huge disappointment. Edited because I cannot respond to the owner's comment: We sat down to eat IN the restaurant, waited there for over an hour for food; it wasn't that busy, many tables were empty.

We ordered from Pizzeria Paolo yesterday. The pizzas were far below par and therefore much too expensive at 17 euros. The pizzas seemed to have a pre-made base that was heated up straight from the freezer. The toppings were very sparse. So, we threw the pizzas away. We sent a complaint but haven't received a response yet. Unfortunately, it was wasted money.

Delicious food and great service

Had a delicious meal at Paolo. The bruschetta was truly delicious and I also enjoyed the pasta pesto parmigiano. The portions are very good. Finished with a super tasty tiramisu and tartufo classico! Plus, I'm a fan of the nice interior and the design of the menus :)

We had a delicious meal! The pasta was fresh and full of flavor, but above all, the staff made the evening complete. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and hospitable. You feel truly welcome from the moment you walk in. Highly recommended!

We had a reservation and were initially given a less-than-ideal table by the entrance where everyone was constantly walking past. We asked for another table and were then allowed to sit upstairs. Very nice! Delicious food, relaxed and good service.

Best restaurant in Heerenveen. I have been coming here for 20 years and it always feels like coming home. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the people are very respectful. Highly recommended.

Too bad. Now for the 2nd time... after sitting at a table for 10 minutes, no one has even come by to take our drink order, let alone brought a menu to the table. Years ago it was always great, fast service, delicious food, unfortunately those times are gone...

A particularly bad experience. The pizzas were of poor quality, especially considering the price. The prosciutto pizza contained no prosciutto and the Hawaiian pizza had only five small pieces of pineapple. Furthermore, several people experienced stomach upset after eating. All in all, not recommended.

Pasta carbonara very disappointing. Full of tasteless cream. Carbonara is not supposed to have cream. Really flavourless. My partner had a pizza. It was ok but nothing special at all. We don’t recommend this place of you’re looking for a real Italian place, go elsewhere. Service was not great. The waiter brought the dessert card, but never came back to take out order. So after 20 min of waiting, we decided to go ahead to pay and leave.

The best pizza I have ever had. The bread is also delicious with herb butter. Highly recommended!

The waiter brought my quartrostatione, but it turned out to be someone else's pizza. Otherwise, the food was good and the service friendly.

We ate here with my family; the food was fine, but in our opinion, there was only one person serving! The poor girl seemed extremely overworked; she was running from one place to another. But when we finished eating, there were still a few employees standing at the bar! I find this extremely unprofessional; the staffing could be better….

We had a genuinely delicious meal! A nice little place where the Italian atmosphere really came through. The young staff visibly did their best to provide the best service. The only thing I personally found a pity was that there wasn't a manager or a more experienced employee present with a bit more knowledge. You could tell that the young staff were still somewhat inexperienced in the hospitality industry.

We had a delicious pizza, it was super busy, but the service had it well under control.

Fantastic! We come here regularly, and the food is always delicious. Fresh, authentic Italian ingredients. Last weekend, I had a seasonal dish with sea bream, grilled vegetables, and tomato tapenade. It couldn't have been better, and it came with a generous portion of fries and salad. We received a pasta entrée on the house (probably because this dish took a bit longer), so that perfectly filled the wait. Delicious starters and desserts, too. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

As long as we find the pizzas here better than in Italy itself, that says enough. 😉👍

The pizzas were mediocre and don't seem to be getting any better every year. They used cheap ingredients. Even the heating was set to 19 degrees Celsius, and after we complained, the waitress said she had to check with "my boss." Anyway, we heard nothing more, and the heater stayed at 19 degrees. At 8:30, we went home and had a nice piece of ice cream by the warm stove :-). The place was also half full. We would have liked to sit by the window, but that wasn't possible because the table was for four. However, the table remained empty that evening. They were charging exorbitant prices for meager food. No more Paolo's for us, for now.

I was here with my girlfriend, and we both had the lasagna with salmon and shrimp. Wow! It was truly delicious and highly recommended.

The food and atmosphere are really good. There were several young waitresses who were really trying their best, and that's how it should be. But these waitresses need guidance, and that's what's lacking. The two stars for service aren't for the waitresses themselves, but for the restaurant management. We saw dishes being forgotten while the rest of the table was still eating. That's really unpleasant, when you're the only one at the table who gets your food half an hour later, while everyone else has already finished. We also saw a couple being sent upstairs to their table, then back downstairs, and then back upstairs again. After making a reservation online, we were given a set time. Fortunately, they didn't insist, and we were able to stay, but we wouldn't have made it anyway because we couldn't order for 45 minutes due to the crowd. All in all, it's definitely worth eating, but I hope the manager starts supervising the staff, because they really need to be more careful.

We had a delicious meal with my daughter, Fay. Their specialty, the fluffy roll, is a real favorite. We often eat here after ice skating competitions at Thialf Heerenveen, and it's always a hit and super delicious. Highly recommended.

Ordered pizza at 5:30 PM. Finally delivered at 7:20 PM. Unfortunately, it was still cold. They had to reheat it themselves. Very disappointing.

I ordered food from here for the first time today through the website. Unfortunately, they called at 5:05 PM to say they wouldn't be there on time! 15 minutes later, well, fine...it happens! Once I got home, the pizza and pasta were already cold...but I turned on the oven and microwave to reheat them myself! The pizza was very thin, with almost no toppings. Normally, you're full after a pizza, but this time, not at all! The pasta looked like it was microwaved, so we didn't think it was fresh. Unfortunately, we won't be ordering from here again.

Eaten often, pizzas are delicious... Although I don't think the arugula should go in the oven. Pasta carbonara really lacks bacon or anything; it's more of a lump of dough with a cream sauce. (16 euros) It's often very busy and noisy; you don't want to sit in the conservatory. They came to ask if we were finished yet, while we were literally still eating 😂.

What a tasteless and unloving lasagna. Two slices of tomato. Eggplant not grilled, a stray mushroom, and a lot of water. And all that for €17.50. The calzone was also mediocre. Come on, kitchen. Make an effort.

After emailing me about the review below, Cem and Tessa offered me a pizza. It was truly fantastic, and I didn't expect them to resolve it so smoothly. Thank you so much. Just a quick takeaway pizza, the chef's imagination, and please, not too salty. Okay, €18.50. I checked the box anyway, and it showed some meat, nothing else. Wow, and that for €18.50. Okay, I asked the chef, and the answer was, "No, it's not possible." Who's the manager? We all are... Well, and then when I got home, it was unfortunately too salty. Well, you learn as you go. But if they want to learn something! 😊

Today I ordered three pizzas online and picked them up just half an hour later. The pizzas were delicious, and I'll definitely be back! We thoroughly enjoyed them.

I placed my order online at 3:30 PM, requested delivery at 5:00 PM, and paid for it. I had to call at 5:15 PM to ask where the pizzas were. They still had to be made. They arrived at 5:30 PM, half an hour late! The quality left a lot to be desired. The crust was utterly tough (probably not in the oven long enough) and there were very few toppings. The pasta, which the website said didn't contain cream, had a large amount of cream sauce, so our vegan guests couldn't eat it. Moreover, it's an expensive pizzeria where you have to pay a €2.50 surcharge for online payment. All in all, a truly disappointing experience. We definitely won't be ordering from them again. What a disappointment!

Delivery was right on time, but the pizzas felt like they had been waiting for ages, given their cold state. The toppings were a bit meager, and the crust tasted a bit like chewing gum.

It might be a good pizzeria, but it's certainly not a ristorante. If you put melanzane alla parmigiana on the menu, you have to be able to make it. The chef clearly can't (yet). A casserole dish with a bland, tasteless mess that would make any Italian feel ashamed. The lasagna is a bit better, but certainly not up to par. We saw some seemingly good pizzas passing by. Perhaps it's better to stick to those.

Pizza is really ok, but man oh man you have to wait here for a long time. Was there at 7pm and 45min after ordering we had the pizzas in front of us, without further explanation or apologies. Same experience during a previous visit. Too bad, next time to someone else.

Pizzas were good, but nothing special. Pasta was a bit bland. The desert menu was limited, but something for everyone. Sorbet ice cream was good, but the tiramisu unfortunately below par. Service was very friendly and food was delivered quickly.

I will not order from here again, I receive 2 lukewarm pizzas and when I tell them my complaint, without asking for new pizzas, I only hear that they really just came out of the oven and that if they do it again it will arrive at the same temperature. Well, it is just not warm enough, but they do not want to hear that.

Delicious food! The pizzas are super fresh, crispy and richly topped, and the pastas are at least as good - full of flavor and perfectly prepared. Friendly and fast service, and a cozy atmosphere. Really recommended, we will definitely come back here!

Lovely place to have an Italian meal

Very tasty pizzas and pastas! Also nice atmosphere in the restaurant and good service. It's just a pity that when you add a comment to an online order, nothing is done with it. We have often asked for one ingredient less on the pizza and it was included every time.

Had a delicious meal at Pizzeria Paolo! We really enjoyed it here. The balcony on the first floor is a nice surprise — with a beautiful view over the Dracht, the shopping street of Heerenveen. The pizzas were delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. In combination with a delicious red wine it was completely finished. I had never been here before, but this is a keeper as far as I'm concerned. Definitely recommended!

We have placed an order here for home delivery several times in the past. The last few times they were always much later than the chosen time. No apologies were ever offered (as if it was normal to deliver half an hour late). After ordering here again months ago (or longer ago). Still placed an order again. Exactly the same. Order placed in time for delivery by 5:00 PM. 5:20 PM and still nothing received. Called the back and it should be on its way. Again, no excuses for it being later. The doorbell rang at 5.30pm, half an hour late, but no apologies at the door for the late delivery. You do pay for it. 5-10 minutes later I still understand, being almost consistently late for half an hour. It is clear that we will no longer order here and hear in our area that this is often the case, and I also read more complaints about this. Too bad because the food is otherwise excellent.

Pizza Carbonara is okay, but not special. Children's ice cream was disappointing, not to mention the ridiculous espresso. Tiramisu was very tasty. Atmosphere and service okay.

The pasta is phenomenal in this Italian restaurant. The open wines are good and reasonably priced. However, the quality of the wine list was previously much better. We miss the Appassimento!

This restaurant still bakes the pizzas in the time-honored, original Italian way. Delicious crispy dough, lots of ingredients and fast service. The business has a romantic interior and is easily accessible in the inner street of Heerenveen. Highly recommended!!!

Had dinner here twice with two people. The pastas are well filled and tasty. The pizzas looked good too. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant, cozy and beautifully decorated. The service is smooth and friendly. The price-quality ratio is also good. Food was served quickly.

Unfortunately the cook has no imagination, 2 slices of ham, 2 slices of salami, 1 slice of bacon and a slice of roast beef. Normally when you order a fantasy from the chef, he shows his skills. Completely missed the point. .

Large order placed. Picked up half myself and had the other half delivered because they couldn't have everything ready at the same time. Ultimately had to pay delivery costs and a discount was not possible. Not customer oriented!

Very pleasant atmosphere. We went when it was very cold in Heerenveen and the restaurant is very cozy. The staff are always very friendly and once the chef made us lunch out of turn because we arrived when it was closed lol very delicious pizzas, good carpaccio and the pasta is exceptional. Many times, afraid of eating poorly, we chose Paolo because we knew we couldn't go wrong. The only negative point is that the opening hours don't always match up with Google, so sometimes we got there and it was closed.

Visited before, this time specialty menu with 2 tenderloin. Well prepared according to our request. As an extra surprise, a nice entree after the bread platter.

DO NOT eat here when it's busy!! I've never really experienced this before. Was after the Heereveen match. Noisy (!!) and busy, so understandable that it takes longer, but this.... The table next to us was given priority over everything and everyone (was a football player or something?) which I have never experienced before. They had received food + drinks (and a starter on the house) before we had had anything to eat or drink, even though we arrived half an hour earlier than their table and had ordered earlier. All guests should be equal, this was really not okay. We had to wait more than half an hour for our drinks and bread platter, even though we had indicated several times that we were waiting for drinks. Not normal. The main course had to wait another hour, after asking it turned out to take another twenty minutes... Food did not arrive at the same time. It wasn't worth the wait. All in all very disappointing and frustrating. The waitress did her best to catch up later and apologized several times, but this was inexcusable. Not recommended.

Good and varied food for a nice price

We were quite enthusiastic about Paolo, but we are no longer so. First of all, there are no vegan dishes on the menu, even though their 'google company' says they do. Then the service...a team of young ladies. They find it very pleasant, but they don't do more than take orders and deliver food. There is no attention for the guest experience. 2 of us received our main course, the other 2 15 minutes later, after we asked. There was no saying 'sorry'. The cocktails were watery and the coffee had coffee grounds at the bottom. Paolo has become a noisy place where the service is hard to find. Too bad...it was always a nice restaurant. This will be the last time for us for a while.

Food is okay, but the service needs work. Waiting an hour for the pizza isn't exactly great...

Have pizzas delivered. The size was much smaller than normal, the bottom was soft and the edges were rock hard. Cheap cheese had been used on a pizza, tasteless as anything. We were always very satisfied, but lately little attention has been paid to the pizzas. Edit: after not ordering for a while, I tried again. And it was great.

Ate a vegetarian cannelloni and a pasta carbonara, followed by a delicious dessert. More than enough and delicious food. Friendly and smooth service.

We were always enthusiastic about this restaurant, but unfortunately we aren't anymore. Service pays little attention to the customer, chatting with each other behind the bar is a priority I think. They were very friendly when they finally arrived. Tuna pizza where the tuna was sparsely present. No, I've eaten at better pizzerias, I won't be booking here again anytime soon.
