Roti huis Leiden in Binnenstad-Noord

We'd had a long day and still needed to order €40 worth of food. She initially wanted to charge €46, but I told her that wasn't right, and she said, "Sorry, you're right." We ordered a bowl of noodles with chicken (which was billed as a bowl of bami), but it ended up being just noodles. Incidentally, none of it was edible (I finished the bara-stuffed chicken because I was really hungry and ate as much as I could). We threw away almost everything else. I don't recommend eating here. The woman looked like a ghost/junkie, by the way.

BEST VEGETARIAN LUNCH EVER! You NEED to try “broodje vegetarisch” if you want to go to heaven and be happy all day long. The tempeh is so good you will be in shock. The girl that serves you at the counter is so sweet. They food in general is always good. It feels like a home made meal. Even though it is precooked and reheated in the microwave it gives that “eating those amazing leftovers from yesterday’s dinner” vibes, and I am here for it. Do not judge before you try. If you are scared of those bad reviews, don’t. You will regret not going. Perfect.

Patience is a virtue - Owner of restaurant Geduld. But seriously, we waited two hours for this roti... Was it worth the wait? You tell me. My stomach is full and I'm satisfied. If you're impatient, I say, screw you, otherwise, it's a roti out of ten.

DO NOT ORDER. We saw this restaurant on Uber Eats. So we ordered a meal and dessert. After an hour, we thought it was taking too long and tried to call, but the restaurant was unavailable. We never spoke to anyone and never received our food. It's a real shame because it really makes you feel scammed.

We had a delicious lamb roti there. Seating is limited, more like takeout, but the food makes up for it.

What an unfriendly bunch there! I placed an order via thuisbezorgd but did not receive a confirmation email. I called to be sure and got a B.... on the phone. Quite an attitude that was not necessary, I only asked if she knew what time it would arrive because after a catty yes, hello!? She said "it will take a long time I said a while" sorry but with such an attitude you can cancel the order immediately. I will never order there again. She said okay yes bye bye with a tone of "I don't care"

Worst service I've ever experienced! Really scandalous. When ordering there was a waiting time of 50 minutes. I ended up waiting over two hours for my food. When I called to ask where it was I was told it hadn't even been prepared yet! No excuses, no solution – just the message that I had to “be patient a little longer”. The worst? You don't get your money back immediately, so you go without food and you lose your money on nothing! Never again for me. This was truly the worst experience I have ever had with an order. Absolutely not recommended!

I’ve always ordered the veggie roti roll and am happy with the amount you get for the price you pay. I haven’t had any negative experiences. So far it seems that the chicken receives most negative reviews, so maybe opt for veg, lamb, or fish if you want to be on the safer side. I can vouch for the vegetarian roti roll. Recommended.

Had sandwiches there yesterday and brought some food with us. The sandwiches are super good, as is the food, not to mention the pickles. If we go to Leiden again, we will definitely come back here!

I don't understand all the negative reviews, I always order roti lamb and it’s always great. It’s a bit expensive but super tasty, a real treat.

Waited 2 hours for food, after calling the scooter turned out to be broken. The lady said that a new one was immediately made and that it would be delivered. The food was just cold and therefore not remade.

We hebben roti kipfilet besteld bij het Roti huis in Leiden. De prijs was stevig, maar goed we hadden er zin in. Hoe groot was onze teleurstelling dat de bakjes slechts voor de helft gevuld waren. De smaak was oké, zeg ik als Hollander, maar na het eten van de roti had ik nog steeds trek. Voor dezelfde prijs bestel je chinees en daar kan je dan twee dagen van eten. Dit was voor ons de laatste keer dat we daar bestellen.

What a bad thing. Ordered 3 hours ago. Made several phone calls because they would deliver. Couldn't find address. Very bad excuse. Choice was cancel or pick up yourself. Canceled but then we didn't get any money back. Finally went and got it myself. This was once but never again!!!

Worthless, ordered at 5:00 PM. Still nothing received at 8:30 PM. Something with the wrong address, etc., etc. Do you want to cancel? Yes, but don't give me a refund... Please do not do home delivery if you cannot make this happen. So sad…

We ordered and had to wait almost 3 hours after making 4 phone calls to find out where the order was!!! We got the food, 2 meals for €35, but it's really not edible!!! NEVER, NEVER, ever ordered from this business. I also hope that this chicken breast doesn't make me sick tonight. Really horrible!!!!

Had to wait 2 hours and 40 minutes for my food yesterday. I ordered at 7:30 PM and the food only arrived after 10 PM after calling twice to check if it had arrived correctly. I didn't think the food itself was very good, I got the impression that it had been in the microwave for too long, the chicken was dry and in some places extremely hot.

I ate a bara with chicken curry on location, but the experience was very disappointing. The bara was old and of very poor quality, and the chicken curry was also substandard. The restaurant itself looked unkempt and dirty. I regret eating anything there.

I never post a review but my meal really wasn't worth the money. Specially ordered roti vegetarian tempeh. Can actually count 6 pieces of tempeh. Potatoes no longer tasted fresh. Pay extra for egg. No no no, I won't be coming back here again.

Don't eat here, especially don't eat the chicken. I ordered the roti chicken special and got basically more bones than chicken. I needed to fish out many vertebra, small bones and severed bones.. after another mouth full of bones I couldn't eat anymore.

Never had such bad Surinamese food before. The noodles were rock hard in some parts and stuck together. The chicken was not roasted and terribly salty. They have to send whoever prepares this back to their grandmother to get some lessons in cooking.

Scammers! I ordered nasi with chicken leg. When serving, he asks if I want an egg and then pays for a “nasi chicken leg special” at the end. The sign says that “special” is extra vegetables, meat and egg. I didn't get any extra vegetables or meat and I didn't ask for anything special at all! Scam!!!

Tasty vegan food - would definitely recommend going there to try bami with chickpeas, green beans and tempeh!

Sandwich is fine but the prices are insanely high! 7.50 for a sandwich is really unbelievable! Compared to other Surinamese in Rotterdam or Amsterdam who charge €5.00 for the same sandwich of excellent quality.

I recommend the roti rol for takeout. Make sure to get some sambal with it.

They don't follow up to their name! The roti has very little taste and is expensive for what you get. The nasi spicy chicken is a small portion of dry chicken with rice for €15,99..... After eating all of the food my girlfriend and I both got a stomach ache. I would not recommend ordering here. Considering the price and quality you would be better off ordering from another restaurant.

Gentleman is friendly, but I believe he has more sympathy for white people. With white mister, plastic foil around the containers and for me not all containers have opened. The food was not tasty at all, not even fresh. I prefer to go to warung where the food is fresh. Was too expensive too. Lost 42 euros like that. Never again. I'd rather take a train to The Hague! Leiden kwa Surinamese food nah bah!

One of my favorite places in Leiden to eat vegan. The roti roll with tempeh is my go-to dinner when I'm on-the-go. It's always nice that you can eat it at a cozy table inside.

Never again!! I’ve ordered here a handful of times. Every time, the delivery too longer than what was specified. Every time I got something different than what I had ordered. You ask for a roti lamb and you get beef. And you pay a lot for the amount if pain you have to endure.

Very tasty. But on the pricey side. But it should be added that we come from Germany, where eating out is more common and, above all, much cheaper.

Always a friendly smile when you enter. Me and my girlfriend regularly come here to get something tasty and we enjoy it every time. Also had it delivered and it arrived on time and warm. Good thing!

Bad food. Served cool to lukewarm by surly staff. Got wicked food poisoning last time I was there.

Cold soggy spring roll for which they charge 3.50. Straight into the rubbish bin, probably from the microwave, bag completely wet with condensation. Roti Moksi clattered into a container and looks like a dog has puked in the container. Also on the lukewarm almost cold side. The site states 30-55 minutes, so because of work I choose a company that can deliver on time, which was almost 1.5 hours. Delivery person mumbles and sighs, all in all, the overall quality could be improved. Was the last time for me.

Since the products are heated in the microwave, the taste really decreases. It's not an inedible product, but it doesn't offer an experience that can be called wow. I don't think it's good for the price/performance ratio.

Best , Roti is…bagger and 16euri for questions with extra slice next time to the mac is also a mess, but at least it tastes like something and is fresh.

The place does not really look great and the smell is not very appealing. The food is already precooked and drying in a refrigerated vitrine. I was very disappointed. I. Some other places providing similar type of food were smelling much better and make you feel to enter and taste the food.. Here the magic did not occur, at least for me and the people I was with.

Bezorging was netjes en op tijd maar het eten was niet echt lekker en veel te duur. € 12,- voor een vegetarische roti, alles smaakte en zag er hetzelfde uit. € 8,- voor een extra bakje droge kip en € 2,50 voor een slappe bakbanaan.

De smaak was niet slecht, maar ook niet heel goed. Hij is wel duur!

Jammer dat het ongeïnteresseerde meisje de roti vellen er niet bij deed. Te druk in overleg met de baas, te weinig met de klant. Toch is het eten er wel de moeite waard.

Lekker eten, vooral de Roti is een must try! Neem dan gelijk ook de grote portie. Er zit veel meer in en het is niet eens veel duurder. Vraag bij het toebereiden ook om wat extra groentjes. Dat geven ze er graag bij :) (ik kijk altijd al uit naar het volgende etentje bij deze tent)

Heerlijk broodje hete kip gegeten en samosa's. Vriendelijke bediening. Je kunt in de zaak eten. Niet alleen meenemen dus. De moeite waard.

Het was veel, heel veel, het was lekker, heel lekker. Het eten, werd nog goed heet, bezorgt. Het was heerlijk, veel vlees, verschillend gekruid.

Rotihuisleiden is mijn favoriet wat betreft hun roti (rolls). Echter ondervond ik bij de laatste bestelling vijf problemen! Eerste probleem: de bezorger zei iets wat niet leuk overkwam: “Het [adres] was wel makkelijk te vinden.” Hij draaide zich meteen om en zei verder niks. Duidelijk op een serieuze, sarcastische toon, wat in mijn ogen een zeer onnodige opmerking is, die niks positiefs bijdraagt. Dit terwijl hij op de afgesproken tijd aankwam. Tweede probleem: de bestelling was verkeerd. Dit kan gebeuren, dus ik belde op om het door te geven: het bakje groente ontbrak en in plaats daarvan had ik een bakje garnalen gekregen. De mevrouw aan de lijn: “oke en wat wilt u nu precies?”. Ik: “ik wil graag alsnog dat bakje groente.”. De mevrouw: “wilt u dat nog steeds?”. Ik: “ja.”. De mevrouw: “echt waar?”. Ik: “ja...”. Ik snap niet waarom ze niet begrijpt waarom ik nog steeds dat bakje wilde. Ik heb er tenslotte voor betaald en wie weet was ik wel allergisch voor garnalen, of lustte ik dat niet, dan had ik geen eten? Derde probleem: naast het bakje groente had ik roti rolls besteld, maar deze waren niet warm meer. Vierde probleem: Een uurtje later kwam dezelfde bezorger langs om het bakje groente te brengen én om het bakje garnalen weer terug mee te nemen (wordt dat opnieuw verkocht.. ?). Het plasticbakje waarin de groentes zaten, was helemaal geplet, het zag er verwaarloosd uit. Vijfde probleem: de bezorger heeft niet zijn excuses aangeboden, wat op zijn minst op zijn plaats was na dit gedoe. Ik heb hiervoor nog nooit problemen gehad met rotihuisleiden, maar dit vond ik toch een heel raar verloop van mijn bestelling.

Stopped into Roti Huis for some bara and was not disappointed. It wasn't the freshest bara I have ever eaten (nor was it quite as spicy as I wanted), but I certainly enjoyed every bite. Service was pretty friendly even though with the lockdown everything is take away only.
