Super lekker gegeten, goed mals vlees, lekkere friet, iets meer kruidenboter bij het brood is prettig. Wel was het erg warm binnen. Jammer dat jullie Pepsi schenken ipv Coca Cola😉

Ate here on a staff outing. The food was excellent. Too bad that with a larger group you see that the smaller tables that came in after us were served first. We ordered immediately upon arrival. Dessert was no longer an option and we were looking forward to it. Next time we will just come even earlier.

Een gezellige locatie met heerlijk eten, fijn personeel en sfeervolle inrichting. Het was een gezellige drukke donderdag avond en wij hebben heerlijk gegeten, goeie kwaliteit en prima porties. service was prima.

Unfortunately it has deteriorated considerably. Service is friendly. The food has become much worse and the prices are much higher. Hamburger cold, cheese not melted. They can't do much wrong with the spareribs, they come straight from the wholesaler. It's also not that busy anymore

Food was cold and the meat was too red, they were not asked if everything was as desired, we had to wait a long time so we decided not to have ice cream and so they did not deserve a tip, very poor sloppy service, they seemed inexperienced.

Just went to the Beatrix theater, had a bite to eat on the terrace and walked into Ruig's. What a great tent and a lot for little. With the 2nd one, less than 7 tens with all the trimmings. Mlt was great, not culinary, but plenty of it and tasty. There is excellent parking 50 meters away, a terrace in front of the door and beautiful tables inside, attractively decorated and excellent, friendly service.

We went to Ruig for dinner on a Friday evening. We came from the annual fair that is around the corner. After making a reservation earlier in the week and a change of time that was no problem at all, we had a super nice spot for 4 at the back of the restaurant. The drinks were delivered quickly and we communicated our choices for food. I shared the XXL sparibs and XXL rough burger to try both. This was highly recommended. The taste was good and what a delicious burger. The fries were good, a raw vegetable and the spare ribs tasted great. We did miss a damp cloth to clean our fingers. A bone container was included, which was super handy with a kilo of spareribs. A fire was turned on on the existing television, which increased the atmosphere and was not disturbing. The dessert tasted great. Only the wrong dessert was delivered to one of the other 4 guests. But this was quickly resolved. All in all. For a budget that is not too crazy, a pleasant place to spend your evening, have a nice chat while enjoying a tasty meal. Highly recommended if you are in Utrecht or at the Jaarbeurs. We would love to come back and hopefully with the same quality. Rough steak is exactly what you are looking for with the right name ;)

Delicious food, for a fair price.

A tasty start to a night out Prior to our visit to the musical Moulin Rouge in the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht, we had a delicious meal at restaurant Ruig. A cozy tent with a casual atmosphere and, importantly, very reasonable prices. I started with a tomato soup, exactly as a tomato soup should be: pure, full of flavor and at the right temperature. As a main course I chose a schnitzel with mushroom sauce, a classic that was excellently prepared here. The schnitzel was tender and crispy, the sauce full and creamy. A good glass of red wine completed it. For dessert I stuck to a cappuccino, but my table companions did opt for something sweet. Their desserts looked fantastic and if their reactions are to be believed, they tasted as good as they looked. The service was friendly and attentive, which is always a plus. The only thing that stood out was that almost all the staff spoke English. Not a problem for us, but it is good to know. I come from a student town myself, so I know how that works. In short: Restaurant Ruig is a great place to eat delicious and affordable before or after a performance in Utrecht. Highly recommended!

Restaurant Ruig Een smakelijke start voor een avondje uit Voorafgaand aan ons bezoek aan de musical Moulin Rouge in het Beatrix Theater in Utrecht hebben we heerlijk gegeten bij restaurant Ruig. Een gezellige tent met een ongedwongen sfeer en, niet onbelangrijk, zeer schappelijke prijzen. Ik begon met een tomatensoep, precies zoals een tomatensoep hoort te zijn: puur, vol van smaak en goed op temperatuur. Als hoofdgerecht koos ik voor een schnitzel met champignonsaus, een klassieker die hier uitstekend werd bereid. De schnitzel was mals en knapperig, de saus vol en romig. Een goed glas rode wijn maakte het compleet. Voor het dessert hield ik het bij een cappuccino, maar mijn tafelgenoten gingen wél voor de zoetigheid. Hun desserts zagen er fantastisch uit en als ik hun reacties mag geloven, smaakten ze net zo goed als ze eruitzagen. De bediening was vriendelijk en attent, wat altijd een pluspunt is. Het enige dat opviel, was dat bijna al het personeel Engels sprak. Voor ons geen probleem, maar het is goed om te weten. Zelf kom ik uit een studentenstad, dus ik weet hoe dat werkt. Kortom: Restaurant Ruig is een prima plek om lekker en betaalbaar te eten voor of na een voorstelling in Utrecht. Een aanrader!

We both ate a large portion of spare ribs. Plenty of fries and sauces. I missed the mayonnaise. I found the spare ribs to be on the dry side and did not fall off the bone. Taste was also good and the temperature was good. Fries were nice and hot.

Made a reservation at 5:00 PM because of a musical that would start at 7:00 PM. At 1810 we asked where our food was because we had to leave in 45 minutes. There was no response, at 10:30 am we asked again where our food would be, this would take another 3 minutes. At 5:30 we still hadn't had our food. We just paid for our drinks and left.

Been there twice already to grab something to eat before a musical. Definitely recommended, the burgers are very tasty. The no fish and Fries are certainly tasty.

The service was in a bit more of a hurry than we were... but the food was excellent and fantastic that they surprised the birthday boy or girl in our party (and the rest) with a fireworks fountain with dessert!

I was a little hesitant to eat here after reading some reviews - but I was pleasantly surprised. Very cozy restaurant with lively guests, very friendly service, nice menu, excellent wines and simply good food. We had the nachos, baguette with herb butter, fish & chips and the steak with a bottle of merlot. Nice and generous portions, but not ridiculous, lots of herb butter and not a crappy container with which you can only spread 2 sandwiches. The food tasted great, price-quality is top. Had a nice evening.

Een klein beetje huiverig om hier te eten na het lezen van sommige reviews - ik was echter blij verrast. Ontzettend gezellig restaurant met levendige gasten, bijzonder vriendelijke service, leuke kaart, prima wijnen en gewoon góed eten. Wij hadden de nacho's, stokbrood kruidenboter, fish & chips en de steak met een flesje merlot. Mooi ruime maar geen achterlijke porties, lekker veel kruidenboter en geen rotbakje waar je maar 2 broodjes mee kan besmeren. Het eten smaakte prima, prijs-kwaliteit is tóp. Leuke avond gehad.

Ate here with 7 colleagues. Food was tasty, drinks had to wait a long time every time you ordered. And we ordered 1 large can of beer every time, how difficult can it be. Price-quality ratio is good. The biggest drawback was the staff, who were friendly but only spoke English.

De entree geeft geen warm welkom, het is een donker hok, totaal geen sfeer. De vensterbanken waren erg vies, het ziet er allemaal wat smoezelig uit. Het personeel is wel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. We bestelde een Ruigsteak met pepersaus. Het vlees was erg matig, de pepersaus is genoeg voor een hapje vlees. De salade zit in een bakje en is niet vers. We gaan hier zeker niet nog een keer heen als we in Utrecht zijn.

We, a group of 7, had dinner here and then went to the Beatrix Theater. The food was fine, we had a starter and main course and everything was served in time to be ready for the theater. We had soup, carpaccio and nachos, venison steak, tournedos and schnitzel. The schnitzel was fried a bit too crispy. Service is good, the service is fine.

I like this atmosphere.. Good music.. Friendly staff and delicious food. Why only 3 stars... I've never heard so much in one evening. Sorry, that's gone... Onion soup, chicken satay, spare ribs, the steak, grenadine and watermelon red bull are all gone... Even the T-bone steak was running out. With some discussion at the table, we were all able to enjoy a delicious meal. The stock was the only downside

A pesar de que Holanda entera estaba loca por el fútbol, el entrenador nos acomodó a algunos de nosotros los sudafricanos para ver la primera mitad del rugby el sábado. Las bebidas tienen un precio bastante razonable con una buena variedad. La comida está bien de precio también y en realidad bastante bueno. No hemos tenido muchas grandes experiencias gastronómicas en Holanda, pero esto definitivamente fue más allá de lo esperado. Una pequeña nota podría ser estar un poco más atento a sus clientes, pero esto es una cosa típica europea, así que supongo que es la norma aquí.

Despite the whole of Netherlands being football crazy the manager accommodated a few of us South Africans to watch the first half of the rugby on Saturday. Drinks are quite reasonably priced with a good variety. Food is well priced as well and actually quite good. We haven't had many great food experiences in Netherlands but this definitely went beyond expectations. One small note could be to be a bit more attentive to your customers, but this is a typical European thing so I suppose it's the norm here.

Het was erg druk. De bediening en keuken hadden het daardoor niet onder controle. We hebben meer dan een uur op onze bestelling moeten wachten. Toen deze eindelijk werd geserveerd, bleek alles koud. In plaats van medium gebakken, waren de tournedos nog rood en rauw van binnen. De friet slap en lauw, het portie summier en de salade ontbrak. Na navraag bleek deze op te zijn. Voor dit alles werd wel het volle pond à € 26,50 per gerecht in rekening gebracht. Na een klaagzang bij de bediening werd één gerecht terugbetaald. Al vonden wij het uiteindelijke bedrag nog veel geld voor hetgeen we gekregen hebben. Al met al een aanfluiting. 😞 Voor ons was dit eens en nooit weer.

As soon as you enter, the atmosphere takes over you. We had a delicious meal, but we couldn't have a conversation. It's way too noisy.

Good service, they have a good overview. The tournedos tasted strange, but a bit like prepared meat and certainly not like a nice piece of meat. Glassy and unnatural, it made me feel sick. Fries are tasty. There was a big drinks party when we were there, so it was very busy and there was no quiet food available.

Celebrated the completion of a project here with colleagues and relations. The food and drinks were good. Unfortunately, the business is hampered by its own success. It was so busy and you could tell that that had an effect on the service. They had to run fast and this haste led to 1 or 2 things going wrong almost every ordering round. People who were skipped when taking orders. Or drinks that were ordered but not served. In the end it was always resolved, so no drama. This facility also has insufficient sanitary facilities. For the gentlemen there was only 1 toilet bowl and 1 urinal. While I estimate that there were at least more than 100 guests in and around the well-stocked restaurant. So I had to wait for my turn. In addition, it was no surprise that I found the toilet not exactly clean. The audience mainly concerns people from the many offices in the area. I was here on a busy Thursday evening. And apart from the mistakes with the orders, the staff held up well during the crowds. They remained friendly and correct. And this will not have been an easy service. That may also be said. I think that at a quieter time this place certainly has the potential to score closer to 5 stars, but due to the mistakes and problems with the plumbing I cannot give them now.

Afschuwelijk slecht eten (fish), droog, zelfs de frieten (chips) waren niet lekker. Ook de vega-plank is drie keer niets. Wel superaardige bediening.

Voordat we naar de musical Pretty Woman gingen hebben wij hier echt heerlijk gegeten met z’n vieren. Supervriendelijke bediening, heerlijk eten (echt lekker 😋) en een gezellige sfeer. Een absolute aanrader wat ons betreft!

Prima tentje dicht bij het station om ff bij te praten en evt een hapje te eten. Bediening is ok. Wel engelstalig. Vaker grote groepen van bedrijven.

Eten is lekker. Restaurant ziet er ook leuk uit maar de muziek staat te hard. Je kan elkaar nauwelijks verstaan en na gevraagd te hebben of de muziek zachter kan zetten ze hem 10 minuten later weer harder.

Leuk restaurant, ideale plaats wanneer je naar theater gaat. Carpaccio was helaas erg koud en smaakte flauw. Steak gevraagd om medium te bakken maar was stuk heel erg rauw.

Gezellige tent om te borrelen met ruime keus aan bier. Ook een hapje eten is prima te doen. Personeel is overwegend engelstalig wat in geen probleem vind, maar kan me voorstellen dat dit nietbaltijd fijn is
