Always delicious and cozy with friendly service

It is with great disappointment that I write this review. We have enjoyed visiting Pizzeria Sa Lolla for years. We have known Antonio, the owner, for a very long time and have always felt welcome here. That is precisely why this experience hurts so much. Last week, I went out to eat with my son. We had made a reservation and, as so often, ordered our favorite dishes: a pizza for me and a specially prepared pasta aglio e olio for my son, for which we are happy to pay extra. When my pizza was served, I noticed that the crust was not yet fully cooked. I asked about it very politely and asked if the pizza could be put back in the oven for a moment. What happened next was something I never expected. Instead of understanding or an apology, I was personally attacked. The employee said that my husband and I “always have complaints” and that we should just go eat pizza somewhere else if we didn't like it. My husband wasn't even there. I was completely stunned. As a loyal customer, I felt humiliated and not taken seriously at all. I was literally shaking. Because I thought this must be a misunderstanding, I walked over to the kitchen to ask Antonio if he could speak to me for a moment. I hoped that, as the owner, he would understand the situation and help resolve it. But there, too, I hit a wall. He said he didn't have time, that he was in the kitchen, and that the other employee was handling it. At that moment, I felt rejected for the second time. I also saw that the other employees (the lovely, hardworking girls) realized the situation wasn't being handled entirely fairly, but they couldn't intervene. All the fun had vanished. My son saw how upset I was. I told him he should just finish his pasta, after which we would leave. When settling the bill, the pizza, which I hadn't touched, was simply listed on the account. When I indicated that I wouldn't pay for it because it wasn't good *and* I hadn't eaten it, I was told I should just take it home. But that was no longer the point at all. I came for a nice evening with my son, not to go home with a nasty experience and a pizza box. A pizza that isn't quite right can happen. I don't blame anyone for that. But the way you are subsequently treated as a customer makes all the difference. After years of being loyal to this restaurant, I had expected at least understanding, respect, or a sincere apology. What saddens me the most is that a place where so many beautiful memories lie now feels different to us forever. Because of the way we were treated, we will not be coming back here. I sincerely find that incredibly regrettable. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Sometimes it's not about the pizza, but about how you are treated as a human being. Unfortunately, that feeling was completely taken away from me that evening. Fortunately, there are other pizzerias in the neighborhood that prioritize customer value. That is where we will go from now on. When I read the reviews later, I see multiple times that the waiter acts arrogantly and also tells other customers that they can go eat somewhere else if they don't like it. How is this possible? Is Antonio wearing blinders? Update: the fact that Sa Lolla is not addressing the incident and accepts the employee's arrogant behavior, while I read multiple times in the reviews that this happens frequently, confirms my decision. Never again! Nevertheless, I wish them lots of fun with the ‘hospitality’😆😆😆😆😆 Update: I wish it were such a party that a new pizza was ordered immediately and they were considerate of the dissatisfaction we had expressed as regular customers. In reality, we were accused of always having something to complain about and that we can leave if we don't like it. Wow! Even so, I wish Sa Lolla much success and wisdom.

DON'T GO HERE!! My mother walked out the door in tears after a visit to Sa Lolla. I never expected that from a restaurant we have been going to for years. My mother and my little brother went to eat here, as they have done so often. The pizza turned out to be undercooked; the crust was still soft, and they asked in a normal, friendly manner if the pizza could be put back in the oven for a moment. However, the reaction of an employee (Silvio) was baffling. He literally said: “You always come here to whine. Just like your husband. You always have to complain and make things difficult.” Then he simply walked away, without offering a solution or even engaging in a normal conversation. Because owner Antonio was in the kitchen at that moment, my mother walked over to him hoping he would resolve the situation. To her surprise, Antonio indicated that he was not going to do anything about it, because he “wasn't in the restaurant” and he had already heard the story from his employee. He took absolutely no responsibility, even though, as the owner, he is precisely the one who should be resolving such a situation. After this treatment, my mother and brother just wanted to leave. My brother's pasta was paid for as usual. Furthermore, my mother was expected to pay for the pizza, even though it was not properly prepared and she hadn't even eaten any of it. What touches me most is that my mother eventually left the restaurant in tears. No one should have to feel so humiliated after a simple request to put an undercooked pizza back into the oven. Mistakes in the kitchen can happen. The way you treat your guests afterwards makes all the difference. At Sa Lolla, loyal customers who have been returning for years were called whiners, no responsibility was taken, and owner Antonio allowed the situation to escalate completely. After this experience, our trust in Sa Lolla has completely vanished. If this is how regular customers are treated, then unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. Update: they blocked me on Instagram 😂. What a sick owner

I came here to eat with some friends. When i told the waiter my pizza was not cooked all the way through, he started yelling at me. DONT COME HERE!

The food is delicious! It's especially fun for children that they get to walk along and put together their own ice cream. Worth repeating.

I have never experienced such rude service in my life. When we arrived at Sa Lolla, there was no staff member at the entrance. We waited for a while, and since no one showed up, we decided to sit at the nearest table. When the waiter finally came to us, he spoke in a very passive-aggressive tone and was upset that we had not waited to be seated (apparently there is a sign at the entrance asking guests to wait, but we didn’t see it). Even if it was our mistake, that does not justify speaking to customers in such a rude way. Because of his attitude, we decided to leave. I didn’t want to leave without explaining why, but his behavior only got worse. He told me that they have enough customers and don’t need us: “Go eat somewhere else, we don’t need you.” I was absolutely shocked. I don’t care about the food, with this kind of attitude, I will never go back there.

Had a delicious meal, friendly staff, and a very unique place. The entrance is a bit difficult to find as it is located in a small alcove between two cafes.

We went to Sa Lolla for the first time tonight and we really enjoyed it. The vitello tonnato starter was delicious, and the tenderloin with truffle sauce was super tender—absolutely fantastic. Friendly and attentive service 👍🏻 We will definitely be back! Updated March 7, 2026. We went for the second time today and had the Bistecca Sa Lolla...perfect again 👌🏻

We had a delicious meal at Sa Lolla. The pizza base can be made gluten-free for an additional fee and was delicious. The service was also excellent, and the staff were helpful in finding gluten-free options.

This is a cozy Italian restaurant with excellent food and a pleasant atmosphere. It is noisy, though. Friendly service.

Today, November 9, 2025, I ate here again. Main course: grilled sea bream fillet with a good white wine (Sao Miguel). Excellent!

We came with a friend from Italy who claimed it was the best pizza he has ever had outside of Naples—maybe even the best, period! The crust was perfectly chewy and crisp, and the ingredients were clearly fresh and authentic. ​Beyond the pizza, the atmosphere is cozy and the service is always top-notch. If you're looking for real, high-quality Italian food in Wageningen, this is the only place you need to go. Highly, highly recommended.

Super delicious pizza and pasta! Reservations are required!

The tastiest pizza in the whole of the Netherlands, we come back very regularly. Fantastic atmosphere, good service, friendly and very involved.

A culinary treat every time; yesterday I chose spaghetti with prawns and fresh spinach in a light cream sauce that truly excels in every way compared to pasta at other Italian restaurants! Loads of delicious prawns (so often you have to search for them with a magnifying glass...). The sauce and spaghetti are a 10, as are the homemade tiramisu and excellent coffee. It's also a relief that the large bottle of tap water isn't on the bill. The house wine is top-notch and offers a price/quality ratio you won't find anywhere else. The staff, who have been working there for a while, are also super friendly. Reservations are a must, but not going is missing out!

Cool location with friendly servers in the city center of Wageningen. Good local beers on tap and a big selection of different pizzas, pastas and more. The food was great and came quite fast and felt fresh, however, I wouldn’t call it authentic. The local beers on tap were also crisp and aromatic. Overall a good experience.

Here they are very aware of allergies. The food was delicious and I could choose almost everything - much even without adjustment. For a gluten-free bun and the gluten-free pizza you pay a little extra.

If you want proper meal for dinner dont sit outside. The outside menu was just pizza. We wanted to eat pasta but we sat outside then we had to pay the drink at the different place even they have Sa Lolla menu (pizza). So we went up and brought our drink and ordered pasta and their drink. It tastes so authentic. I think this is the only Italian restaurant here in Wageningen? Cmiiw.

It is the best Italian restaurant ever! The dishes are super big, the food is delicious and the staff is very friendly and speaks at least 4-5 languages or so. It is not so easy to get reservation here because it is always full, that is why I recommend that you should do it in advance. We often come here to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays.

Super lekker gegeten. Niet verwacht bij een pizzeria maar echt 1 van de lekkerste carpaccio’s ooit. Pizza en pasta ook gewoon echt heel goed. Het is er wel erg gehorig dat is een minpuntje vooral er grotere groepen zitten.

Bij binnenkomst bleek dat onze reservering per mail niet goed was binnengekomen. We hadden een bevestiging. Omdat ik dat kon bewijzen kregen we een plekje. Oh what a wonderfully pleasant place, with a fantastic menu. We can only say FORMIDABLE.

We went here with high expectations. Extremely friendly service. That always means a lot. Unfortunately the food was extremely disappointing. No fresh prawns or tenderloin, which was served on a cold plate with a slice of gorgonzola instead of a creamy sauce, no tasty fresh potatoes or spaghetti as you would expect from a good Italian, but a bowl of fries with stir-fried vegetables. The feedback was first given back to the owner to give him the opportunity to do something with it. There was no response whatsoever. Quite unprofessional and a missed opportunity. There is nothing left but to give this review.

Geweldige bediening en de SteakTartare is beslist aan te raden. Mooie verse ossenhaas en de juiste ingrediënten!!!! Overigens maken ze hier de meest fantastische pizza’s.

They have not updated the Google information. They are currently closed (holiday). We saw it through the note on the door, but then we were already standing in front of the door. In this digital age, a digital note is more useful to you. A disappointment.

Pasta carbonara was very greasy.

Gisteren bij Sa Lolla geweest, we waren met 10 personen en mijn vrouw was niet helemaal lekker en had geen honger dus wilde geen hoofdgerecht, alleen wat drinken. Dit was niet mogelijk, zij moest een hoofdgerecht bestellen. Wetende dat ze het niet op at. Toen mijn vrouw daar wat van zei tegen de eigenaar kreeg zij "F*** You" te horen van hem. Heb werkelijk dit nog nooit meegemaakt. Echt klantvriendelijk en passende bij de Bevrijdingsdag. Voor mij nooit meer naar Sa Lolla.

Bravissimo ❣️ Start with three delicious Italian delicacies: Carpaccio, various types of sausage and shrimp cocktail. Main course: grilled racks of lamb and super tender grilled beef. Everything topped with a tasty vegetable mix and fries. Dessert mix: Tiramisu della Casa, whipped cream with pomegranate and Oreo ice cream. It was another excellent evening at Sa Lolla.

Nice meal. Good service. Steep stairs to enter are not suitable for everyone.

Came with group of 11 and we had a surprise visit of a friend. We asked if we could add a additional chair while there was enough space. Owner came and told us it told it was not possible, "just because it was not possible" and gave no reason, whilst being extremely rude. No space was there to find a solution... we left and went somewhere else. Very disappointed in the staff and owner and would not recommend to eat here! Sole d'italia is better anyways!

Sa Lolla is an excellent Italian restaurant. Nice service, who regularly asks if everything is to your liking. Beautiful menu and delicious food made with fresh products. Even my family from Limburg now suggests eating at Sa Lolla when they come to visit. Antonio is a very good host and cook, who ensures consistent and high quality.

We have been regular guests at Sa Lolla for years. One of the best restaurants in the area. Personal attention and service, they do everything to make you happy. And the food is delicious, the tenderloin is also highly recommended, as are the desserts and coffee! Greetings to Antonio!

Gisteravond weer bij Sa Lolla gegeten. De super gastvrije eigenaar verwelkomde ons persoonlijk ondanks dat we -door omstandigheden- tijd niet geweest waren. Ondanks de warmte buiten is het er heerlijk koel zonder airco! De pizza's onverminderd Top. Alles qua samenstelling valt zonder problemen te regelen, de rode huiswijn nog steeds klasse en gewoon betaalbaar. Gewoon een glas kraanwater mogelijk tegenwoordig al een uitzondering maar verademing. Zoals alle vorige keren ook nu weer een culinaire verwennerij waar je ook gewoon rustig 2uur of langer ongedwongen kan blijven tafelen! Kom zelf uit Arnhem maar dit is het allerbeste echte Italiaanse restaurant wat ik ken en een hele dikke aanrader.

Restaurant is op de 1e verdieping en het trappenhuis is in het midden. Je kunt helemaal rond lopen en dat geeft een verrassende ervaring. Het restaurant is veel groter dan je verwacht. De bediening is vriendelijk en adequaat. De pizza’s en ook de lasagne zijn gewoon prima! De desserts bevielen het gezelschap ook goed. Prijsstelling is heel redelijk! Absoluut een aanrader!

Received a dinner voucher for our wedding anniversary from friends, because it is their favorite pizzeria. They didn't say too much! Delicious food, very pleasant service and a homely atmosphere. Not fancy, therefore accessible to everyone. And great to experience that real Italians are working there👌👌👌 This atmosphere is always pleasant😊 feels like coming home to my uncle.

Op zaterdagavond een super vriendelijke bediening met vriendelijke gezichten van personeel, ook bij de pizzabakkers! Er was een heel ontspannen sfeertje hoewel er hard gewerkt werd. Personeel deed precies wat en zoals het hoort te doen en wij hebben dat als zeer prettig ervaren. Alles werd vlot geserveerd, er was genoeg personeel. De pizza's waren heerlijk! Het kindermenu had een heerlijk groot stuk kipfilet met lekkere patatjes. Als desert had ik verschillende soorten ijs met slagroom. Erg lekker en veel ijs voor een klein bedrag. Ook de Irish Coffee was perfect van smaak en textuur. De volgende keer gaan we zeker de zelfgemaakte Tiramisu proberen. Veelal komen bij deserts de Irish Coffee en toetjes niet tegelijkertijd. Hier kwam alles tegelijk! Weer perfect dus. Dubbele espresso, cappucino en muntthee met Italiaans amandelkoekje, ook heeerlijk!

Vaker heerlijk gegeten. Als je binnenkomt ruikt het naar een écht Italiaans restaurant. Antonio ontvangt je als een gastheer en andere bediening ook goed! Heerlijke pizza's en pasta gehad met een foccacia vooraf. Ook lekkere gemengde plank vooraf is een aanrader. Komen zeker terug!

My friend and I visited to specifically try their pizza. We shared their Quattro formaggio pizza. That's was one of my top ten pissaz of all time. Not to mention impeccable staff and service! I highly recommend.

Very substandard! The website seems like a lot, but it is a kind of beach tent level with unfriendly and unintelligible service. Fiddling with the wine cork, reservation that suddenly disappeared. Very bad table at the entrance, dirty toilets, piece of meat as big as a bitterbal, watery “sauce” with raw mushrooms, inferior draft beer (Romanian camping???). Didn't eat a single Italian dish, only reheated Makro mash, a waste of money, NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!

Very nice restaurant with certainly the tastiest pizzas in Wageningen. Not only the pizzas are delicious here, but actually the entire menu. A tip: if you want to eat here you usually have to make a reservation, otherwise you won't always be able to go there, especially on weekends.

The welcome in Sa Lolla is always warm. We are huge pizza lovers and think Sa Lolla's pizza is the tastiest in Wageningen and the surrounding area. Lots of choice also in other dishes and desserts. However, we usually can't finish dessert anymore. Great restaurant!
